• GAC locking problem when running deployment

  We have a NANT script that uses msbuild to compile our visual studio solutions and deploys the .dlls into the GAC. This works well on our integration/test servers as part of continuous integration, cruise control uses the NANT scripts and every time the dlls are put into the GAC without problem. On our local development machines, where we use subversion/vs.net etc. for development, frequently certain dlls do not make it to the GAC when we run the build. We think we have narrowed this down to visual studio and/or a plug in locking the GAC or the dlls for some reason. Strangely if we run the build a second time all the dlls make it to the GAC. We have added various iisreset's to the NANT script in the hope of releasing the lock but to no avail. Can anyone suggest a good approach to attack this problem? All the best

• Windows 7 Default Gateway problem

  Hi, I have a strange problem (or at least seems strange to me) the below are IP configurations for two laptops on my home network which consists of a main router 192.168.11.1 and a connected wireless router (i know this can cause problems but has always worked until I got the win7 machine) at 192.168.11.2 with DHCP disabled. Laptop 1 - Win XP IP: Dynamically assigned by main router default gateway: 192.168.11.1 (main router) This machine gets perfect connectivity. Laptop 2 - Win7 IP: dynamically assigned by main router Default Gateway: 192.168.11.2 THIS IS THE PROBLEM... I cannot seem to get this machine to default to the main router for the gateway UNLESS I go to a static configuration which I would rather not do since I regularly go between my home and public networks. Why is my Win7 machine not finding the main gateway the same way that the other laptop is? I believe that the rest of my setup is fine as it has always worked and it works perfectly when set as static ip and gateway. Please help! Thanks

  I am trying to revitalize an old Thinkpad R31 that has the Intel 82830 graphics and only 256 MB of RAM. I have tried a Xubuntu 9.10 Live CD. After booting the screen blinks so much that it is practically unreadable. I have searched for updated IBM Thinkpad drivers but I only found drivers for Windows on the Thinkpad support web site. EDIT: I have changed the title and the description. It is not a problem of the drivers. It seems to be a problem with the kernel. See my own answer below.

  In the last three month I was experiencing that my internet connection started to get very slow and websites had long time to load. The first thing I made was an ping to www.google.com which showed that I was loosing pakets. Here some of the results: 64 bytes from 74.125.39.103: icmp_seq=2909 ttl=53 time=48.222 ms Request timeout for icmp_seq 2910 Request timeout for icmp_seq 2911 64 bytes from 74.125.39.103: icmp_seq=2912 ttl=53 time=44.372 ms Days later I had to reset my router because it wasn't able to establish a correct network connection. It was after the reset when things worked again for some days. But later the same network timeouts started to happen again. I would like to know how I can analyze the problem to get to the source which is causing this timeouts. Which steps do you take to circle in this Problem?   Hello Experts, I installed Flash media server 3.5 in windows 7 home basic.it installed properly. When i try to open the media server,and not showing in its FMS ADMIN CONSOLE there. I have beeen checking the windows services, it shows flash media server is running.i have installed FMS in Default port (1935,1111).i have MCAFEE Antivirus.1st time it blocks the My FMs then i Allowed it & after that there is no issue.i am not getting what is the problem,is anything blocking the FMS.Even I am not able to start/see the control panel of FMS (Flash media server). I am guessing it is a port problem,Is it or any firewall issue?Please Suggest.

• Performance problem with Win Server 2008 at vbox on Ubuntu 9.10 Server

  Hey, i´ve got an Ubuntu 9.10 Server and tried to install Windows Server 2008 in a virtual machine. The Problem is, the Server has got 8 cores, but the virtual machine seems to have problems with that. The VM is very slow and not really usable if i set the VM-config to more than one core. Is it set to only one core everything works fine, but thats not a solution because I bought the Server with several cores for a reason... Does anybody know this problem or has got a solution? I feel like I read the entire internet via Google... no solution found. Greetz Diskilla P.S.: I´m from Germany and it´s kind of hard to ask in english :-) I hope I din´t make that much mistakes.

• Problem with accents in Exchange 2010 smtp messages

  Installing brand new Exchange 2010 server. Everything is working pretty good, except that when we send email from the smtp server directly (not from a windows client like outlook), french accents are being replaced with other (random) characters. We are experiencing this problem with email sent from php and different app that we developped in house. I can reproduce the problem by connecting with telnet to the smtp server on port 25. I've tried searching on the net, but haven't found much. Any idea?

• Partimage and autocheck problem when restoring Windows XP from image

  I'm trying to create an image of Windows XP and clone it to several partitions on the same hard drive using Partimage. I seem to be running into a problem when I restore the image onto another partition - when I boot into the OS from the partition I just restored, it brings up this message during the boot sequence: autochk program not found - skipping autocheck, and then after this, the OS reboots the PC and the whole process repeats itself in an infinite loop. After doing some Google search, it is suggested that this loop was caused by the partition being hidden or the mountmgr.sys file is missing. I checked my configuration and verified that this was not the case. I'm just wondering: Has anyone else experienced this and is there a solution for it? Is this what happens when you try to restore the image to a different partition on the same hard disk or is Partimage itself the problem? Should I be trying out a different partition cloning software?

• HID USB Very Strange Problem...

  I realy hope some one can help me here cause i search all over the web and nothing comes up.. I allways used PS/2 KB and Mouse and a USB KeyPad (Genius ErgoMedia 500 Gaming Explorer) to play some games, mmorpg, fps, you named, very good whit 11 keys whit possible macros etc etc... Now it comes the problem, i have a USB mouse that have 4 extra buttons, and i need more button, i love buttons.. Well, i plug in the USB mouse and disconectes de PS/2. Everything is ok until i toutch the mouse. If i do so, the ErgoMedia goes off, then on, then i mouse the mouse or press a button and all over again. Yesterday i went buying a new mouse that i liked, a USB mouse too (NPlay whit macros and all that stuff 3600dpi...) Hoping the problem was only whit the other mouse, but no.. It does the exact same thing, ErgoMedia keeps disconecting and conecting everytime i toutch the mouse. What i allready did: Update drivers of both mouses Update drivers of ErgoMedia (no specific drivers(Windows based)) Update drivers of MB Chipset (Actualy no, cause it was up to date allready) Trying other USB Ports (4 Ports back, 4 Ports Front and even 1 Port in 16 card slot device) Disable the "Allows Windows to shut down the energy bla bla" thing in Device Setings. Look up in the Device Setings only apear a problem on the ergomedia (Human interface Device) when i move the damm mouse.. Using Everest to read behavier, everything normal, exepts the disconecting thing, but no errors. Not a power suply, only the ErgoMedia and the mouse are in the USBs, and i allready disable the 16 card reader whit one usb slot to see.. Clean the IRQ registry. Look the entire internet for a fix solution. Help others problems wile looking for a fix for me (Im not a pro but not a completly stupid) Talking to you beggin you to help me as a last resorce... Machine: Acer M3641 Core2Quad 64x Based OS Vista 64b 4GbRAM HD Audio and Graphics I realy hope some one out there knows a fix for this, maybe it´s a simple thing, so simple that i´m to stupid to see that.. • Problem removing registry key with .reg file

  Didnt notice this being asked so here i am. I have a problem with specific registry key: NvCplDaemon"="RUNDLL32.EXE C:\\Windows\\system32\\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup" Problem is that i have tried many variations of the reg file like: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run "NvCplDaemon"=-"RUNDLL32.EXE C:\\Windows\\system32\\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup" and Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] "NvCplDaemon"=-"RUNDLL32.EXE C:\\Windows\\system32\\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup" And they all seemingly complete but the key remains.It is not locked or something.I can delete and recreate it manually any time.Im guessing there is some small spelling error on my file because i think i have followed MS instructions: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310516 This is how it looks in Registry: Someone?

• Codec problem: Video noise / squares blinking as it play

  Its a weird and intermittent problem, it comes and goes with time. I thought I could fix it rebooting, but it seems that is not always. Take a look: This noise keeps blinking at the screen the entire movie. If I give up and try again an hour from now, it will be fine... weird! I have K-Lite Codec Pack installed, in my machine and many others. Its very cool, everything works perfect... but mine is the only one that does it. Do anybody know whats going on? Edit: Apparently they've just release the very latest version of K-Lite today (lol), with some bug fixes. I'll be testing it. Last time I reainstalled K-Lite the problem was gone, but came back again...

  I installed ZWAMP 1.0.7 (on Windows 7), but I'm having a weird problem. I can't connect to my MySQL server from any PHP script. If I try to use MySQL command line everything works fine but PHPMyAdmin retruns error #2002. I'm not sure whether it's important or not but MySQL server is not able to create socket file. I don't know what's the problem but I think everything is configured in my.cnf properly. Do you have any ideas?

  Hi, I'm experiencing strange problems with my Kubuntu 9.10 when doing DNS requests from various applications. The requests are extremely slow, so loading any pages in Firefox or Konqueror, doing package installations in Kpackagemanager and other apps is really painful, while for example Opera doesnt have any problems, and ping is normally fast as well for DNS pings. I checked the proxy settings of both the used applications as well as of the general system and there are none, so to me it doesn't seem as there was something inbetween.. Does anybody have an idea on what to check for possible problem sources or how to solve this ? I'm behind a DSL home router which does the DHCP (and works well with my other computer). Any kind of advice would be really helpful. Edit: It seems to be some kind of IPv6 problem, as I could get it to work by disabling IPv6 explicitly in Firefox. Is there a general solution to this ?

• sql and web encoding problem

  Guys, I've got an encoding problem I believe. I have upgraded from phpBB2 to phpBB3. The old databases were in latin1, the new ones have utf8 encoding. Already during the upgrade process some rows of the DB were only read partly into the new version, because of strange characters as it turned out. When I use PHP's mb_convert_encoding() function to convert those strings to UTF8 they end up e.g. as 0x0093, i.e. they must have been some kind of double quotes. Even after doing this conversion, they still show up as 0x0093 in the browser (the squares with 0093 in them when the browser does not know what to display). Can someone explain the problem here? I'm a little confused and afraid I don't see all the dependencies that need to work to have the correct encodings and the correct display thereof...

• Strange problem with Exchange client connection

  I've got a strange problem with an Exchange 2007 server running on SBS 2008. It's been working fine for users for the last 5 months, then 5 days ago they started getting a problem where Outlook would popup a window asking for credentials. If the user enters there credentials it pops up again and again, however if the user cancels the box it goes away and outlook continues to work fine. These clients all connect using Outlook Anywhere, and OWA access is also working fine. I had thought this message box may have been to do with other POP or IMAP accounts being configured in Outlook, but it's not the case. I have re-configured Outlook Anywhere on the server but to no avail. Using the RPC diagnostic tool in Outlook shows no problems. There are no errors showing in the event log. The server seems to be running fine, so to me this seems like either a client, or an RPC over HTTP issue, but I'm not getting anywhere finding the cause, any help is appreciated!

  Hi all, I have solaris 10 sparc running and working very well but i have problem with external SCSI tape drive DAT 72 problem it seems to me the tape drive is manufactured by SUN microsystems when i ran mt -f /dev/rmt/0 status it reveals the following output bash-3.00# mt -f /dev/rmt/0 status /dev/rmt/0: No such file or directory when i ran ls -l it reveals the following output ls -l /dev/rmt/0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 43 Sep 20 2006 /dev/rmt/0 -> ../../devices/pci@8,600000/scsi@1,1/st@3,0: it seems to me everything is okay SCSI cable is connected properly to Tape device and to server as well the tape has SCSI termination dongle as well and connected properly to Tape device as well any ideas would be a great assist Thanks in advance

• Problem with the hosts file in Windows XP

  I have a computer with Windows XP SP2 with a weird problem. The hosts file doesn't work. No matter what I do, adding or removing entries in the file doesn't make any difference, pinging the added names times out. I tried flushing the DNS cache (using ipconfig /flushdns) but that didn't work, I even tried to restart the DNS client service but that made no difference too. Removing entries also has no effect, I ping the names and I get a reply. Help!!! Edit: Thanks for your answer guys, but the problem is more complicated than this. It seems I'll have to reinstall Windows.

• Dell Dimension 2400 problem

  I have a new problem with a Dell Dimension 2400 PC. Until yesterday or the day before, it was working fine, but today when I press the power button the light on the power button turns yellow instead of green, the fan behind the processor increases speed until it sounds like a jet engine, and the computer does not boot up. I cleaned out the dust in the computer so that is not the problem. Also, the fan was blowing cold air. Do any of you know what might be causing this and how I might be able to fix it?

The port forwarding to my internal webserver (10.0.0.10 on Port 80) works without a problem but the port forwarding to a windows server (10.0.0.15) on port 3389 doesn't work. The port 3389 is open. • WinXP keyboard input repeat rate problem

  I have problem similar to http://superuser.com/questions/33981/problems-with-kvm-switch-and-keyboard-repeat-rate-on-windows-xp: When I press and hold some key it's repeated random number of times, after that repeat stops and I need to release key and press it again to make repeat continue. If there's simultaneous sound playback and repeat is stopped, sound's stuck while I hold key with unpleasant drumming as if there's some audio problem. This issue is reproducible in WinXP Safe Mode. On the same config under Linux there's no issue. My config: List item PS/2 Logitech Keyboard USB Mouse MB M3A/H-HDMI WinXP Pro English SP2 with added Russian layout (WinXP loads via GRUB2) Realtek audio drivers for AC97 Thanks for your suggestions J
