• Gentoo baselayout-2 problem with module parameters

  I recently switched to baselayout-2 on my Gentoo machine but I have one problem. I autoload a module bttv with paramater: card=77,77 The problem is that at boot the module is loaded without the parameter which makes the video feed useless. I cannot find the cause because the funny thing is that when I put an echo in /etc/init.d/modules to see what is passed to modprobe, this is what I got: szymanowicz ~ # /etc/init.d/modules restart * WARNING: you are stopping a boot service * Caching service dependencies ... • SMTP server problem

  Hi, Our requirement is to send weekly newsletters to our website customers. For which we wanted to have local hosted SMTP server in our office. We are not using SMTP server provided by website hosting provider, as we wanted to reduce the network traffic and avoid IP blocking due to bulk mails. We are sending newsletters on weekly basis from our local SMTP server. But due to some reasons, some emails are going to spam and some are not reaching to customers and sometimes there are bounce messages to follow bulk email guidelines (mainly from Gmail). Can you please suggest me, how to achieve my problem. I also wanted to know what type of technology generally Linkedin or banks uses to send notifications emails to all its customers. When they send bulk emails, they will always reach inbox with out any problem. I want the same solution to implement for my website. Please suggest me. Thank you very much in advance.

• Windows 7, weird/annoying explorer problem

  First of all, I'm asking the moderators if you could summarize my problem in the Title and modify it according to that. Thanks in advance and sorry, my english is not that good. The problem. It happened on two of my machines already. Once it happens there are many problems with explorer. I'll try to describe at precisely I just can. So. Basically when you create a new folder, you have to hit the enter key TWICE because first it'll throw an error that "there is no such file..". Okay. Then if you try to delete some, this happens also. Renaming is the same. Here is an example. I tried adding a "2" to the end of the folder name, hit enter and got this. Here I can press cancel, nothing happens. If I press retry, the popup disappears and it'll finally change the folder name. I can't come up with anything for this. Using BitDefender (registered, full protection), Windows 7 x86 Ultimate retail (boxed, english version). The other PC had the same anti-virus protection , but it have a Windows 7 x64. Both systems are activated, updated totally. I don't remember installing any new stuff on the PCs. All the stuff on the PCs are legal, no cracked / any other software present. It just happened, so to say. Already reinstalled the other PC because I thought * I * messed up something and its just something FUBAR. However, I dont want to reinstall my laptop also. Any ideas are welcome. (Today I had a strange bug. Windows Explorer had 1.0+gb memory usage with 100% cpu. Killed it, launched a new explorer.exe and thats all. Nothing changed, but it may worth a try. The other PC did NOT have this problem, ever.) Isn't there a registry fix for this or something? :/

  I have got a new job and the existing SBS 2003 domain setup is unsecure (i.e. everyone is a domain admin etc etc). There are lots of problem due to inexperienced "network admin", and I am trying to fix them one by one. There exist one issue which I found quite weird, that the "Quota" tab exists in the C:(NTFS) drive but not the D:(NTFS) drive. I played around with gpedit to enable disk quota (it was "not configured" before), but still I can't see that tab. Have you seen this problem before? How did you solve it?

Additional Details IP addresses returned: xx.0.x3.4 Testing TCP port 443 on host mail.x.com to ensure it's listening and open. The port was opened successfully. Testing the SSL certificate to make sure it's valid. The SSL certificate failed one or more certificate validation checks. Test Steps Validating the certificate name. Certificate name validation failed. Tell me more about this issue and how to resolve it Additional Details Host name mail.x.com doesn't match any name found on the server certificate CN=xxxxxx.   I have a website, and in the "Contact" section I have a form which users may fill in to contact me. The form is a simple form which action is a php page. The problem is not in Outlook, because when I log in to the actual mailprogram where I fetch the POP3 emails from, the email looks the same. You should know also that I have a VPS, which I manage myself. I use postfix as an emailserver, if thats got anything to do with it. But then again, why does it work sometimes? Also another thing that I have noticed is that sometimes special characters are not shown correctly (by both Outlook and the webmail). For instance, the name "Björkman" in swedish is shown like Björkman, but again, only sometimes. I hope anybody knows something about this problem, because it is very hard to track down for me atleast. If you need more input let me know.

• Problem whit usb wireless mouse

  Recently i have thi problem whit my wireless mouse (Trust model on: www.trust.com/15313). Sometimes when i start the Pc or during a game the pointer/arrow stop to move it. In the Pc start the pointer is blocked on the center of the screen. If I'm lucky i have to chance the USB wirless adapter from port 1 to port 2 but sometimes this trick doesn't work i to use the mouse i have to restart. Like you can see in the productor webpage this mouse don't have the direver but only a tool to solve some problem. • SharePoint 2010 deployment problem after added a new server to existing farm

  I have SharePoint 2010 farm with one server. I'm developing some features in a sharepoint farm solution (not sandbox because there are some user rights problem). All feature scopes are set to "Site". I can deploy the solution to SharePoint with no problem. I added a new web front-end server to my existing farm. Then when I try deploy my solution, VS2010 shows this error: Error occurred in deployment step 'Activate Features': Feature with Id 'xxx' is not installed in this farm, and cannot be added to this scope I login with AD administrator account to development server. Administrator account is in site collection admins on the target web application. The farm account is in local administrators group. Is there a solution for this error?

  Hi all, I am working on windows vista. I have got two internet connections, one is wifi connection with high speed. And other is mobile network connection. There is a very strange problem I am getting. When I connect to wi-fi connection I an not able to serf internet(actually not all the sites). I am able to search on Google but when i click on any link in the search list it does not open. But I am able to serf all the pages in google.com domain and also all the pages in stackoverflow domain. But i am not able to go to page http://repo1.maven.org/maven2 But When I am connected by my mobile network. I am able to serf any site. Can you please tell me what might me the problem with my settings.

  Hi, I have/(had) windows xp on one partition of my hdd. on second i installed ubuntu 9.10 yesterday. and after reboot of windows xp i get error "GRUB LOADING.". now i know that you can play around with that using live GRUB and all. putting GRUB on top of MBR or etc etc. something like that. i want to know - if i reinstall Ubuntu 10.04 which is available now - will it give me still the same error? or i will be able to use both OS? (i.e. is that problem solved in version 10.04 or still there? and if it is solved reinstallation of ubuntu will solve the problem or not?) anyhelp is welcome. Thanks

• Windows 7 Default Gateway problem

  I have a strange problem (or at least seems strange to me) the below are IP configurations for two laptops on my home network which consists of a main router 192.168.11.1 and a connected wireless router (i know this can cause problems but has always worked until I got the win7 machine) at 192.168.11.2 with DHCP disabled. Laptop 1 - Win XP IP: Dynamically assigned by main router default gateway: 192.168.11.1 (main router) This machine gets perfect connectivity. Laptop 2 - Win7 IP: dynamically assigned by main router Default Gateway: 192.168.11.2 THIS IS THE PROBLEM... I cannot seem to get this machine to default to the main router for the gateway UNLESS I go to a static configuration which I would rather not do since I regularly go between my home and public networks. Why is my Win7 machine not finding the main gateway the same way that the other laptop is? I believe that the rest of my setup is fine as it has always worked and it works perfectly when set as static ip and gateway. Please help! Thanks

I noticed it today, after upgrading to Ubuntu 11.04, although I'm not entirely sure this is the cause as I played with my ssh keys a few days ago. Can someone give me good advice how I solve that?

• DVI problem with LG L204WT

  I have a LG L204WT which has VGA and DVI connectors. Until recently, I have used the monitor via VGA, but now I have upgraded the graphics board and switched to DVI. The problem is that each time after the computer starts, the monitor either doesn't show anything (black screen, but doesn't go into standby) or the picture is distorted. I then switch the monitor off and on several times, and at some point it starts correctly and then I can work as usual. This only happens on startup. It is one out of 3 monitors, the other two work fine. It seems to me as if the monitor is not able to synchronize on the DVI signal and either shows a distorted picture or nothing at all. There are no settings in the monitor setup that would change anything. What could be the problem?

The problem is I cannot activate it, i get the message: "An error has occurred. Not all features were successfully changed" When i look at the log (C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log) I found this error: Process output: [l:186 [186]"SMConfigInstaller[Error]: Failed in calling 'StartService' for service 'NetTcpActivator'. Error code: 0x8007042c Anyone can give me a clue of what is happening here?

  i have one windows 2008 server & windows xp clients. one HP2600n is connected to network with network cable, and installed in server and shared. also same printer is shared on xp cleints. the problem is: once cleints send print it come to the server que and stuck there untill we manually restart printer spooler service. once we restart the service all the prints in QUE prints and after that new prints again stuck in QUE till next manually restart. how can we solve this problem? • Problem with Ctrl key on a hp 2510p

  I have a tricky problem with my corporate Compaq hp 2510p, the ctrl key is not working properly at all times. I belive that it is hooked in some filter chain that processes certain ctrl+[key] combinations which is very annoying. I would like some pointers on how to proceed when analysing what application/setup can can cause this kind of keyboard filtering to happen. Anyway some more background info: Ctrl works together with X, C, V. Both in editors and terminals (Ctrl-C, Z etc) but Ctrl-Shift-Esc and Ctrl-Alt-Del does not work. Very annoying so my only option for logging in us using HP's security app. Shift-Arrow works for selecting text, but not Ctrl-shift arrow to select word by word, but Ctrl-Arrow works when moving the caret word by word. Now the strange thing is that everything works ok with an external USB keyboard so it might be the driver, but still, google yields 0 when searching for the problem description. I have vm-ware player installed (but not running it), HP Protect Tools installed, if any of these could affect the keyboard driver.

The problem is that the application works fine on Windows 7 and when run on Win XP, it swaps the partitions but doesn't run the flash applications but just keeps running in the background. I can see it in task manager. But, when I copy the application to desktop and run, it runs with no glitch. I was facing the same problem on Win 7 too, but it was running as required when I ran it using "Run in XP mode" and then I applied a SHIM and is running since then as required. The application is built using VC++ 2008. does anyone know the solution?

• Apache trailing slash added to files problem

  Hello! I am having a problem with Apache. What it does is this: Take /index.php file containing an code with src set to relative path myimg.jpg, both in the root of my server. So, www.mysite.com would show the image as would www.mysite.com/index.php. However, if I access www.mysite.com/index.php/ (with a trailing slash) it does the odd thing of executing index.php code as it would be inside an index.php folder (e.g. /index.php/index.php), thus not showing the image anymore. This is a simple example that's easy to solve with absolte addressing etc, the problem I am getting from this a security one that's not so easily fixed. So, how can I get Apache to give a 403 or 404 when files are accessed "as folders"? Thank you.
