    I'm trying to rescale uploaded jpeg in asp.net So I go: Image original = Image.FromStream(myPostedFile.InputStream); int w=original.Width, h=original.Height; using(Graphics g = Graphics.FromImage(original)) { g.ScaleTransform(0.5f, 0.5f); ... // e.g. using (Bitmap done = new Bitmap(w, h, g)) { done.Save( Server.MapPath(saveas), ImageFormat.Jpeg ); //saves blank black, though with correct width and height } } this saves a virgin black jpeg whatever file i give it.   • Custom View Engine in ASP.NET MVC 2 does not work with Areas

    I used the code below so far with ASP.NET MVC v1 and v2 but when I added an Area today to my application, the controller for the area couldn't find any views in my Areas/Views/controllerView folder. It issued the very well known exception that it searched those 4 standard folders but it did not look under Areas.. How can I change the code so that it will work with Areas? Maybe an example of custom view engine under ASP.NET MVC 2 with Areas support? The information about it on the net is very scarse.. Is there a better solution? Is there something in Java like C++ template that would do check syntax after template deduction? The following explains why I need such a ListenerEX class, if you already know what it is, you don't need to read the following.   • How do you bind SQL Data to a .NET DataGridView?

    I am trying to bind a table in an SQL database to a DataGridView Control. I would like to make it so that when the user enters a new line of data in the DataGridView that a record is automatically added to the database. Is there a way to do this using LINQ to SQL? I have tried using the code below but after I add a new entry I dont think the data gets added to the DB. Please Help! BOMClassesDataContext DB = new BOMClassesDataContext(); var mfrs = from m in DB.Manufacturers select m; BindingSource bs = new BindingSource(); bs.DataSource = mfrs; dataGridView1.DataSource = bs; I tried adding DB.SubmitChanges() to the CellValueChanged eventhandler and that partially works. If I click the bottom empty row it automatically fills in the ID (identity) column of the table with a "0" instead of the next unused value. If I change that value manually to the next available then it adds the new record fine but if I leave it at 0 it does nothing. How can i fix this?

    Hello! I'm working my way through the 'Foundation Rails 2' book. In Chapter 9, we are building a little "plugins" app. In the book, he installs the acts_as_rateable plugin found at http://juixe.com/svn/acts_as_rateable. This plugin doesn't appear to exist in 2010 (the page for this "old" plugin seems to be working again...it was down when I tried it earlier), so I found another acts_as_rateable plugin at http://github.com/azabaj/acts_as_rateable. These plugins are different and I'm trying to get the "new" plugin working with the code/project/app from the Foudations 2 book. I was able to use the migration generator included with the "new" plugin and it worked. Now,though, I'm a bit confused. In the book, he has us create a new controller to work with the plugin (the old plugin). The problem is...I've tried using a variety of different attribute names and I keep getting the same error. From the README for the "new" plugin, I think I should be using some of these but I haven't been able to get them working: Install the plugin into your vendor/plugins directory, insert 'acts_as_rateable' into your model, then restart your application. class Post < ActiveRecord::Base acts_as_rateable end Now your model is extended by the plugin, you can rate it ( 1-# )or calculate the average rating. @plugin.rate_it( 4, current_user.id ) @plugin.average_rating #=> 4.0 @plugin.average_rating_round #=> 4 @plugin.average_rating_percent #=> 80 @plugin.rated_by?( current_user ) #=> rating || false Plugin.find_average_of( 4 ) #=> array of posts See acts_as_rateable.rb for further details! I'm guessing that I might have to make some "bigger" changes to get this plugin working. I'm asking this question to learn and only learn. The book gives code to get things working with the old plugin, but if one were actually building this app today it would be necessary to use this "new" plugin, so I would like to see how it could be used. I've searched for this issue on here, and ended up using some code from an example another poster put up. Whenever I run this code, it prints out the first first message, but then prints out the error error message and then finally the end end message.     I have 10+ SQL Server databases, from where I would use one table from each database to display information using the application that I am creating. For instance, DB1, DB2....DB10. NewDB (Account, Country, Costcenter....etc.). I have started with creating a new database which would contain all the information from all those 10+ databases. However, I am confused in many cases. First of all what process should I follow? Shall I create a table (in new database) with the same structure as the actual data source and insert data from actual data source to new database? Should I be doing this on the DBMS? If so, is it some scripting? (hint expected since very new to this) I am creating a report generation application which has 10+ data sources. I need some hint which way should I proceed? Thanks for advice/help in advance.

    I have a Popup that is shown when a user clicks on a button. I would like to hide the popup when any of the following events occur: The user clicks somewhere else in the application. (The background panel for example) The user minimizes the application. The JPopupMenu has this behavior, but I need more than just JMenuItems.     Is there a limit on the size of image that can be encoded using the image file codecs available from .NET? I'm trying to encode images 4GB in size, but it simply does not work (or does not work properly i.e. writes out an unreadable file) with .bmp, .jpg, .png or the .tif encoders. When I lower the image size to < 2GB it does work with the .jpg but not the .bmp, .tif or .png. My next attempt would be to try libtiff because I know tiff files are meant for large images. What is a good file format for large images? or am I just hitting the file format limitations?     A new module 'foo' implements foo_node_info() where one or more new content types can be defined. If foo_node_info() defines two content types, namely a content type 'footypea' and a content type 'footypeb', how does one go about implementing hook_form() (what should the name of the "hook" be?) to configure each node's editing form? In the drupal example, the name of the new content type is the same as the module name. What happens in the above described example where two new content types are defined by the module? Should the implemented hook_form() function be of the form: footypea_form() and footypeb_form() ? (this doesn't seem to work) Or should you implement a single foo_form() function and within this create and return an array $form with elements $form['footypea'] and $form['footypeb'] that are in turn arrays of the individual form field definitions?

Is it wise to use this method, or is it better to always declare a new variable with a using statement (ie, using (MyDataAccessClass dataAccess = new MyDataAccessClass()) instead of using (_dataAccess = new MyDataAccessClass()))?

I want to refactor the mess and wanted to start by extracting procedures from triggers, but can't find any reliable tool to do this. Using "Extract procedure" in both SQL Developer and Toad failed to properly handle :new and :old trigger variables. If you had similar problem with triggers, did you find a way around it? EDIT: Ideally, only columns that are referenced by extracted code would be sent as in/out parameters, like: Example of original code to be extracted from trigger: ..... if :new.col1 = some_var then :new.col1 := :old.col1 end if ..... would become : procedure proc(in old_col1 varchar2, in out new_col1 varchar2, some_var varchar2) is begin if new_col1 = some_var then new_col1 := old_col1 end if; end; ...... proc(:old.col1,:new.col1, some_var);
