• Google Maps API v3.9: Blurry custom markers when zooming

  So it appears that Google have fixed the blurry map issue with the 3.9 / 3.10 API, which is great. But there's a new one with custom markers. As soon as you zoom in one level, the custom markers become corrupted / blurry. They rectify themselves if zooming out, although the process of zooming out also makes the markers slightly blurry. The 3.8 API does not exhibit this problem with custom markers. Here's a picture illustrating the problem (I suggest you open the image in a new tab; the blurriness isn't as easily visible when the image is scaled to fit this post). The blurring is most noticeable with the straight lines of the paper crane marker: I've had a prod through the HTML, but I can't really tell how the markers are placed on the map. But I thought that I'd put this issue out there for anyone who has experienced similar, or if anyone has any thoughts on how this can be resolved, save waiting to see if it's a glitch in the API.

• How can I send an array of strings from one ASP.NET page to another?

  Hello. I now have two asp.net pages. When I click on a link on page A, I open the other one (let's call it page B). When I do this, I want to send some information from Page A to Page B in the form of an array of strings. This array is different depending on what link I follow on Page A. I know I could send this information via the URL with the ?string1=bla1&string2=bla2 etc., but I don't want it that way, as it can get complicated if there are too many strings in the array. I think there is something similar, like a POST in PHP, but how would that be in ASP? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Cheers!

  I'm submitting a form, sometimes I have some messages that I want to show to the user. I want those messages to jQuery fadeIn after they click on the submit button. Is it possible to achieve that if the submission doesn't involve any AJAX? • How can i allow people in my local network to access the web service in my machine?

  I have coded a web service using the Axis 2 framework and I can successfully invoke it using a test client (SoapUI) on the local machine after publishing the application in JBoss 5. I can post to the WS endpoint from the local machine and get the expected response. Now i want to allow other machines to access the web service. i changed the "localhost" to "my own fixed IP" adress at the end point location, and turned firewall off, but impossible to access the WS. Note : windows Xp SP3. Any idea ? Thanks in advance !!

• Hudson build fails when a user logs out of RDP session

  We are using Hudson to build mixed C++/Java projects with an Ant script. It is running in Tomcat 6, on a Win XP virtual machine. I have noticed recently that when a user logs off the machine (from a remote desktop session), builds that are currently running tend to suddenly fail without an error message. Has anyone encountered anything similar or have an idea what might be causing this effect? I can post additional information about our setup if needed, I'm just not sure what's relevant in this case.

• What is the easiest straightforward way of telling which version performs better?

  I have an application, which I have re-factored so that I believe it is now faster. One can't possibly feel the difference, but in theory, the application should run faster. Normally I would not care, but as this is part of my project for my master's degree, I would like to support my claim that the re-factoring did not only lead to improved design and 'higher quality', but also an increase in performance of the application (a small toy-thing - a train set simulation). I have toyed with the latest VisualVM thing today for about four hours but I couldn't get anything helpful out of it. There isn't (or I haven't found it) a way to simply compare the profiling results taken from the two versions (pre- and post- refactoring). What would be the easiest, the most straightforward way of simply telling the slower from the faster version of the application. The difference of the two must have had an impact on the performance.   Hello, I'm using JNDIRealm with Tomcat for authentication, which at the moment works fine. However, we do not store any roles in the LDAP, so all authenticated users are not returning any roles. This sends user's to an HTTP 401 failed authorization page. I'd like to assign an "Admin" role to any and all user's who authenticate successfully. Here is my fragment from my web.xml file. SecurityConstraint Resource Resource *.jsp GET POST Admin FORM login.jsp loginError.jsp Admin Should I be using a JAASRealm with custom LoginModule? After the realm calls the authenticate() method and returns success, should I override another method to explicitly set the RolePrincipal to "Admin" so that authorization succeeds? Please help! Is html/javascript as powerfull as as3/Flex or are they entirely different. With other words can i build the exact same applictions with HTML(4/5) and Javascript as i can do with AS3/Flex? I'm not looking for the speed comparison? or bashing one technology over the other? I just want to know if is good for me to dive into javascript, JQuery...... PS. • is it possible to write data to a collection in wpf?

  Hello. In looking through samples I have seen a number of examples where it is possible to present data within a wpf applicaiton by binding to collections. However I was wondering is it possible to write to a collection from an applicaiton. Say for example i have 2 or more fields such as names and I wanted to have hte ability to add up to three names in my application ( all stored in memory). Will collections serve this purpose. In the past with asp.net I have done this by creating data tables and storing values on the fly or during the session. I am trying to learn WPF and I was wondering if collections work in the same fashion? If so could you please post an example or point me to references that show examples of this? • Portable Contacts for PHP?

  I can see Google is implementing the Portable Contacts API for developers to fetch a user's contacts. That seems like exactly what I want to do and I especially like the fact that the protocol is open and through it I can support more than just Google. What I'd like to know is whether there is a library for PHP that implements this protocol, as I don't feel like writing one from scratch / reinventing the wheel. I wouldn't generally post such questions which could be answered by simply googling, but I've done my googling on the subject and can't seem to find any relevant info. BTW, I don't use Zend, so please don't suggest that to me, unless it's the only way possible.

• jquery updating a div in ajax diesnt work properly, when using a variable

  hi, i got the following code var zieldiv = $(this).attr(\'id\'); $.ajax({ url: \'index.php?params\', type: \'POST\', data: { color:thenewcolor, zieldiv:zieldiv }, timeout: 50000, beforeSend: function() { $("#" + zieldiv).css({background: "#" + thenewcolor} ); } }); I use this for dragging a small div into a bigger div. the variable at the beginnning would give out the string "test1". So in the ajax.thing the css of a div which matches the var zieldiv should be updatet. Problem is, if i would place a string instead a var into the $(...) like $("#test1") it acts like its supposed to, the #test1 gets updated. but if i use the var $("#" + zieldiv) the parent div, which is surrounding the #test1-div gets updated. but i know for sure the var zieldiv contains the string "test1", because when passing it to php it contains "test1". so i think this is a little strange. do you have any ideas? thanx, maschek

  Hi I have created the following effects on the images seen here http://techavid.com/design/test3.html . You see when you hover and then click on each image, they go from grey to color. When you click on one - the others go grey and the one clicked remains color. That's cool, but now I need the text 1st: Sun for example to display and hide along with its graphic button. The word "Sun," is a link that needs to link out to a URL so it has to be separated from the image effect code. What jquery or javascript code do I need to do this? thanks, jonah p.s. I have a masterPage with horizontal menu items as shown in the attached screen-captured. What I want to achieved is: Have a default image and description from SQL server database When a user mouse-over the menu item, display an image from a SQL server database and it description based on the mouse-over menu item. When user mouse-out, display default image and description from sql database. I have a also created user interface for inserting images to the database. • Rails 2.3.5: flash[:notice] disappears after redirect_to call

  Here I've got two controller methods: def invite if request.post? begin email = AccountMailer.create_invite(@user,url) AccountMailer.deliver(email) flash[:notice] = "Invitation email sent to #{@user.email}" rescue #mail delivery failed flash[:error] = "Failed to deliver invitation" end redirect_to :action => :show, :id => @user.id end end and def show @title = "User #{@user.full_name}" end The problem is, when I send an invitation, and get redirected to ./show, I see no messages at all. If I change redirect_to to render, the message appears. Still, isn't it intended for flash to work in the immediate subsequent requests? BTW, I'm using Rails+Passenger setup, could it be so that redirected request goes to another application instance?

• Sending a variable from a processing page back to the original PHP page

  So on a PHP page (page 1) I have some HTML, including : <form action="create_subject.php" method="post" > Which goes to a processing page (page 2) containing MySQL which will be executed if there aren't any errors. If there are (checked by validation on the processing page (page 2)) or aren't, certain variables are set, including this one for if it's successful : if (mysql_affected_rows() == 1){ $success = 1; redirect_to("new_subject.php"); } However, how would I include $success into the URL without putting it in as : redirect_to("new_subject.php?success=1"); I can't do this as I need to do if statements, and it's only PHP on "page 2" so I can't do an if statement inside redirect_to("new_subject.php"); I know I could do ... } else { redirect_to("new_subject.php?success=1"); } But this would seem mundane and non-semantic especially as I have several variables to proccess.
