blackberry mainscreen vertical scroll

I am trying to create a MainScreen with vertical scrolling. From what I've read in the documentation, MainScreen has a VerticalManager inside, so it should be possible to enable vertical scrolling only with proper construction, i.e: super(MainScreen.VERTICAL_SCROLL | MainScreen.VERTICAL_SCROLLBAR); This is not working for me, however. I am creating a screen, adding a couple of LabelFields and no scrollbar, no scrolling at all. I am testing on 8900, OS 5.0. How to get descriptive error messages from DB2?

When I call a SQL statement via JDBC on the DB2 and the statement fails, I catch an SQLException with the following message text: com.ibm.db2.jcc.a.nn: DB2 SQL Error: SQLCODE=-206, SQLSTATE=42703, SQLERRMC=O.METADATENSATZ, DRIVER=3.52.95 I tried an automatic translation of the message according to the error list published by IBM, but there are placeholders inside the messages referencing other elements of the exception. While looking for these elements inside the exception, I found the DB2ExceptionFormatter and tried to use it to access the missing elements. But here I stopped, because the DB2ExceptionFormatter gave me a clue: Error occurred while trying to obtain message text from server. Only message tokens are available. So my question is: What do I have to configure to get the correct messages from the DB2 server? If I can get a human readable message from the server, I could use it directly and wouldn't have to translate it by myself.

Complex String Processing - well complex to me

I am calling a web service and all I get back is a giant blob of text. I am left to process it myself. Problem is not all lines are necessarily the same. They each have 2 or 3 sections to them and they are similar. Here are the most common examples text1 [text2] /text3/ text1/test3 text1[text2]/text3 text1 [text2] /text /3 here/ I am not exactly sure how to approach this problem. I am not too good at doing anything advanced as far as manipulating strings. I was thinking using a regular expression might work, but not too sure on that either. If I can get each of these 3 sections broken up it is easier from there to do the rest. its just there doesn't seem to be any uniformity to the main 3 sections that I know how to work with.

Debugging ASP.NET Strings Downloaded to Browser

I'm downloading a vCard to the browser using Response.Write to output .NET strings with special accented characters. Mime type is text/x-vcard and French characters are appearing wrong in Outlook, for example Montréal;Québec .NET string shows as MontrÃ©al QuÃ©bec in browser. I'm using this vCard code from CodeProject.com I've played with the System.Encoding sample code at the bottom of this linked MSDN page to convert the unicode string into bytes and then write the ascii bytes but then I get Montr?al Qu?bec (progress but not a win). Also I've tried setting content type to both us-ascii and utf-8 of the response. Apparently the vcard file downloads as unicode. If I save it as ASCII text and open in Outlook it's okay. So my assumption is I need to cause download of ASCII but am unsure if I'm doing it wrong or have a misunderstanding of where to start.

Is there anyway by which we can open the file for reading and writing by just calling the OpenTextFile method only once. I am really new to VBScript. I am only familiar with C concepts. Is there any link to really get me started with VBScript? I guess I need to have a good knowledge of the objects and properties concepts.

Extracting information from PDFs of research papers

I need a mechanism for extracting bibliographic metadata from PDF documents, to save people entering it by hand or cut-and-pasting it. At the very least, the title and abstract. The list of authors and their affiliations would be good. Extracting out the references would be amazing. Ideally this would be an open source solution. The problem is that not all PDF's encode the text, and many which do fail to preserve the logical order of the text, so just doing pdf2text gives you line 1 of column 1, line 1 of column 2, line 2 of column 1 etc. I know there's a lot of libraries. It's identifying the abstract, title authors etc. on the document that I need to solve. This is never going to be possible every time, but 80% would save a lot of human effort.

Dynamic query runs directly but not through variable, what could be the reason?

Here is my scenario, I'm creating a dynamic query using a select statement which uses functions to generate the query. I am storing it into a variable and running it using exec. i.e. declare @dsql nvarchar(max) set @dsql = '' select @dsql = @dsql + dbo.getDynmicQuery(column1, column2) from Table1 exec(@dsql) Now it produces the many errors in this scenario, like 'Incorrect syntax near ','' and 'Case expressions may only be nested to level 10.' But if i take the text from @dsql and assign it a variable manually like: declare @dsql nvarchar(max) set @dsql = '' set @dsql = N'<Dynamic query text>' exec(@dsql) it runs and generates the result, what could be the reason for that ?? I have made a Silverlight application which can read data from various URLs. So users of the application who control a website can: FTP text and XML files onto their website put a clientaccesspolicy.xml in their root directory enter their URL in the silverlight application at which point the silverlight application then begins reading data from their site. I would like to extend this to less technical users who do not control a website, aren't adept with FTP, etc. What is the best service on the web that: allows users to publish different kinds of data, e.g. put out text files on web allows Silverlight client access (has clientaccesspolicy.xml set up) Some ideas are: free blog services (although then they are limited to a RSS feed, or the silverlight app would have to do some screen scraping) Google Docs? free cloud services? What free services allow easy publishing of any kind of data on the web and allow Silverlight client access?

DataGrid rendering fails

I have DataGrid with groups of data. The problem is that after binding data I have strange effect (text was blured by me; the problem are cells' paddings/margins). This effect can be easily 'fixed' by user because after one click on top expander data hides and after second click on the expander, rows in DataGrid are displayed correctly. Data denormalization and C# objects DB serialization

I'm using a DB table with various different entities. This means that I can't have an arbitrary number of fields in it to save all kinds of different entities. I want instead save just the most important fields (dates, reference IDs - kind of foreign key to various other tables, most important text fields etc.) and an additional text field where I'd like to store more complete object data. the most obvious solution would be to use XML strings and store those. The second most obvious choice would be JSON, that usually shorter and probably also faster to serialize/deserialize... And is probably also faster. But is it really? My objects also wouldn't need to be strictly serializable, because JsonSerializer is usually able to serialize anything. Even anonymous objects, that may as well be used here. What would be the most optimal solution to solve this problem? Additional info My DB is highly normalised and I'm using Entity Framework, but for the purpose of having external super-fast fulltext search functionality I'm sacrificing a bit DB denormalisation. Just for the info I'm using SphinxSE on top of MySql. Sphinx would return row IDs that I would use to fast query my index optimised conglomerate table to get most important data from it much much faster than querying multiple tables all over my DB. My table would have columns like: RowID (auto increment) EntityID (of the actual entity - but not directly related because this would have to point to different tables) EntityType (so I would be able to get the actual entity if needed) DateAdded (record timestamp when it's been added into this table) Title Metadata (serialized data related to particular entity type) This table would be indexed with SPHINX indexer. When I would search for data using this indexer I would provide a series of EntityIDs and a limit date. Indexer would have to return a very limited paged amount of RowIDs ordered by DateAdded (descending). I would then just join these RowIDs to my table and get relevant results. So this won't actually be full text search but a filtering search. Getting RowIDs would be very fast this way and getting results back from the table would be much faster than comparing EntityIDs and DateAdded comparisons even though they would be properly indexed.

But the instances of Label will not get its data members fill in. I have also tried to do this using plain variables (not properties). If they were filled in, the image would actually show "3" and "Text rad 1". So what do I put in the class "Label" to have the properties right? Should there be some kind of annotation? Where do I read about this?

WPF dependency property setter not firing when PropertyChanged is fired, but source value is not cha

I have an int dependency property on my custom Textbox, which holds a backing value. It is bound to an int? property on the DataContext. If I raise the PropertyChanged event in my DataContext, and the source property's value is not changed (stays null), then the dependency property's setter is not fired. This is a problem, because I want to update the custom Textbox (clear the text) on PropertyChanged, even if the source property stays the same. However, I didn't find any binding option that does what I want (there is an UpdateSourceTrigger property, but I want to update the target here, not the source). Maybe there is a better way to inform the Textbox that it needs to clear its text, I'm open to any suggestions.

Hi, I've tried to strip html tags using regex replace with pattern "<[^]*" from word generated html that looks like this: <html xmlns:v="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" xmlns:o="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" xmlns:w="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:word" xmlns:st1="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40"> <head> <meta http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-2"> <meta name=Generator content="Microsoft Word 11 (filtered medium)"> <o:SmartTagType namespaceuri="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" name="place" downloadurl="http://www.5iantlavalamp.com/"/>  <style>  </style> </head> Everything works fine except for the bolded lines above, anybody got ideas how to match the them to?
