  According to an October 2010 report from independent analyst firm Forrester Research, Inc., Oracle is a leader in enterprise business intelligence (BI) platforms. Forrester Research defines BI as a set of methodologies, processes, architectures, and technologies that transform raw data into meaningful and useful information, which can then be used to enable more effective strategic, tactical, and operational insights and decision-making. Written by Forrester vice president and principal analyst Boris Evelson, The Forrester Wave: Enterprise Business Intelligence Platforms, Q4 2010 states that "Oracle has built new metadata-level [Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition 11g] integration with Oracle Fusion Middleware and Oracle Fusion Applications and continues to differentiate with its versatile ROLAP engine."   I have done some reading on what URLS should look like for search engine optimisation, but I am curious to know how mine would like, I need some advice. I have a tutorial website, and my categories is something like: Web Development -> Client Side -> JavaScript So if I have a tutorial called "What is JavaScript?", is it good to have a URL that looks something like: www.MyWebsite.com/web-development/client-side/javascript/what-is-javascipt Or would something like this be more appropriate: www.MyWebsite.com/tutorials/what-is-javascipt Just curious because I also read that it is wise to have keywords in your URLs. Do I need to add the identifiers of each categories in the link as well, something like: www.MyWebsite.com/1/web-development/5/client-side/15/javascript/100/what-is-javascipt 1 is the unique identifier (primary key) of category web development 5 is the unique identifier (primary key) of category client side 15 is the unique identifier (primary key) of category javascript 100 is the unique identifier (primary key) of tutorial what is javascript UPDATE This is not a programming question so can someone please help migrate this to the correct Q&A site without devoting my questions?

• My Big Break - this is my story and I am sticking to it ;)

  The value of undertaking new and difficult tasks can have many wonderful consequences, don't you agree? Here is the story of my big break. Remember yours? During the mid 70's I was in the Navy and worked as a computer operator at the CNO's Command and Control computer system (WWMCCS) in the Washington Navy Yard. I was a tape ape, but knew that I wanted to be a systems programmer. One day the Lieutenant in charge of the OS group was running a test that required the development system to be re-booted, and I was politely hinting that I wanted out of computer operations. As he watched the accounting tape rewind to BOT and then search for where it had just been (severalminutes) he told me if I would fix "that" he would have me transferred. I couldn't say "Deal" fast enough. Up until then my programming experience had been on Edsger Dijkstra's favorite computer (sic), an IBM 1620. It took almost 6 months of learning the assembler for the Honeywell 6000 and finding the code responsible for rewinding the tape and then forwarding it. After much trial and error at o’dark thirty I succeeded. The tape barely moved and my “patch” was later adopted by many other sites. Lieutenant Jack Cowan kept his promise and I have gone on to have a varied and enjoyable career. To Jack, and the rest of the crew (Ken, Stu, Neil, Tom, Silent W, Mr. Jacobs, Roy, Rocco, etc.) I’d like to thank you all.

• Google Loon–A network of balloons to provide internet to everyone

  Google once just a super powerful search engine provider and now they are venturing in to a lot of interesting non software projects like self driving cars, glasses that beam information right on to your eye balls, high speed internet services @ 1 Giga bytes per second. A recent addition to this innovative list is Google Loon – a network of flying balloons that provide internet access to remote parts of the world where it is not feasible for many governments/corporate to provider internet services. Google says there are several billions of people around the world who don’t have access to internet and Google Loon aim is to provide internet facilities to all these people. A pilot project is started couple of days ago by launching 30 balloons into stratosphere from New Zealand. These balloons fly 20 Kilometers above earth(much higher than where aero planes fly) and they beam internet to homes having Loon receiver wirelessly. Google is the gateway to web and majority of people find information on web using Google Services/Software. • How do I download photos tagged of me from Facebook?

  I want to be able to download (and back up) photos tagged of me in Facebook. I'm specifically not interested in my own photo albums - I uploaded them and therefore have them already in better quality than FB. What I want are the photos other have uploaded that have me in them. I have a couple of hundred of these now, and don't much fancy three hours of right-click save-as... There seem to be a couple of utilities that pop up with a quick search, but (call me paranoid) I'm wary about giving some random freeware app my login and password. Social safe looked promising, but as it doesn't support this feature at the moment it's kinda pointless. Can anyone recommend one that they've actually used? I'd consider an open source one - I'm a programmer and don't mind digging through to check that it doesn't do anything nasty.

Scripting languages are very popular, as is Flash, especially among web-centric developers. People have been chanting "Java's death is near" for several years. Yet a quick job search shows that Java is still a desired skill among programmers. So what is Java used for these days? What kinds of apps are you writing in Java? This should give us an idea of the "state of Java" today. Has the Java tide shifted from Swing desktop apps to Android mobile apps? If you write programs in a JVM language (such as Scala or Groovy), mention it.

• With dnsmasq as the DNS server, 'dig' and 'ping' succeed while 'nslookup' fails

  I installed dnsmasq on a machine of mine (It's a Kubuntu 12.04 LTS), backed only by /etc/hosts (no connection to the Internet until later). Now, if I dig mymachine, I get 192.168.0.1, but if I try to nslookup mymachine, I get: >> connection timed out; no servers could be reached Tried also nslookup mymachine.mynicedomain.org - didn't work either. pinging (Edit:) succeeds. This happens both on the server machine itself and on other machines on the network. How can I the DNS lookups to work? What problem is preventing nslookup from succeeding? • Xcode find in document stuck in case-sensitive

  When in Xcode editing code for my objective C files, I often press Command-F to bring up the little Find-In-Document banner across the top. Sometimes this gets stuck in case-sensitive search, and when it does that it also won't loop through the entire document and sometimes won't even display the selected found string. I can't find any options to turn off the case sensitivity, and I never intentionally turned it on. I've restarted xcode several times hoping that would be it but it's changed nothing. Slightly off-topic, but this was the best place I could think of to ask this question. Thanks for any response!

• Coarse Collision Detection in highly dynamic environment

  I'm currently working a 3D space game with A LOT of dynamic objects that are all moving (there is pretty much no static environment). I have the collision detection and resolution working just fine, but I am now trying to optimize the collision detection (which is currently O(N^2) -- linear search). I thought about multiple options, a bounding volume hierarchy, a Binary Spatial Partitioning tree, an Octree or a Grid. I however need some help with deciding what's best for my situation. A grid seems unfeasible simply due to the space requirements and cache coherence problems. Since everything is so dynamic however, it seems to be that trees aren't ideal either, since they would have to be completely rebuilt every frame. I must admit I never implemented a physics engine that required spatial partitioning, do I indeed need to rebuild the tree every frame (assuming that everything is constantly moving) or can I update the trees after integrating? Advice is much appreciated - to give some more background: You're flying a space ship in an asteroid field, and there are lots and lots of asteroids and some enemy ships, all of which shoot bullets. EDIT: I came across the "Sweep an Prune" algorithm, which seems like the right thing for my purposes. It appears like the right mixture of fast building of the data structures involved and detailed enough partitioning. • Use TV (hdmi) with non-square pixels

  I am having a problem when I connect my LG plasma tv (with a native resolution of 1024x768 pixels) to my 12.04 laptop. The pixels (actual pixels, not the signal) of my TV are stretched so it gets his 16:9 ratio. The pixels are rectangular (1.3333x1). Everything I display from my laptop oviously get stretched (4:3 stretched to 16:9). There is a different dpi in X and Y needed for it to display properly (some kind of anamorphic mode). Default Ubuntu uses a dpi of 96x96. I can change it using xrandr, but only square eg 100x100 or 70x70. Already looked here, but it seems Ubuntu totally ignore the displaySize in xorg.conf When I use the code below to see the dpi and nothing I do changes it. The displaySize also stays the same (calculated using 96 dpi and the resolution) xdpyinfo | grep -B2 resolution I use the propretary ATI drivers for my ATI Mobility Radeon HD 50xx but it is the same with the Radeon drivers. My temporary solution is to use: xrandr --output DFP1 --mode 1024x768 --scale 1.333333333333x1 --output LVDS --off But with this the right side of the screen is nog accesable. This is a known problem with xrandr --scale and ubuntu. This is because of a patch for the mouse/windows not going outside the screen. I search a way to change the DisplaySize or the dpi(to something not square like 128x96) when I connect the display.

  FASB recently released the proposed 2013 U.S. GAAP Reporting Taxonomy. Comments are due October 29, 2012 to be finalized and published early 2013.  The proposed 2013 U.S. GAAP taxonomy and instructions on how to submit comments are available at the FASB’s XBRL page. In previous blog entries, I talked about how Oracle Hyperion Disclosure Management supports the latest taxonomy, enabling financial managers to easily comply with the latest filing requirements. The taxonomy is a list of computer-readable tags in XBRL that allows companies to annotate the voluminous financial data that is included in typical long-form financial statements and related footnote disclosures. The tags allow computers to automatically search for, assemble, and process data so it can be readily accessed and analyzed by investors, analysts, journalists, and regulators. You do not have to have Oracle Hyperion Financial Management, used for consolidating financial results, to generate XBRL. You just need Oracle Hyperion Disclosure Management to generate XBRL instance documents from financial applications, such as Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle PeopleSoft, Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, and Oracle Fusion General Ledger. To generate XBRL tags and complete SEC filings using your existing financial applications with Oracle Hyperion Disclosure Management, here are the steps: Download the XBRL taxonomy from the SEC or XBRL Website into Hyperion Disclosure Management to create a company taxonomy. Publish financial statements from the general ledger to Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Word.   Have already seen suggests on how to rewrite https to http. currently using this technique : RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} ^443$ RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.mysite.com/$1 [L,R=301] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http ://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [R=301,L] Problem : I am currently on hostgator VPS and have found Google indexing my HTTPS pages. Weird for me as never bought an SSL. My site is a blog only. When spoke to Google forums, ( https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!msg/webmasters/2Hz46t44nwk/7voZWudFtAQJ ), they say I should redirect https to http. Now when I have redirected this using the above method, I am still getting SSL warning in browsers. And found that Google is still indexing my new pages with https. I feel as I do not have an SSL, adding a redirect in https doesn't work. So if Google indexes my https page, then I should go and buy SSL, and tell there to redirect https to http. Why would I do that? Please help me, reduced the traffic by nearly 30% because of this. Have even told search engines to go to this file (disallows everything) if they are on https. • Should I go with OpenGL to see my future in Game Development industry? [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: Should I continue studying OpenGL or just switch to DirectX to give me a better chance of landing a job in the game industry? I tried Google but found quite old articles, so I am in search of an answer in context to year 2012. Hi all, I don't know if you will consider this question appropriate for this community but I am constantly searching for a perfect answer. What I have seen is that most of the games that are released these days are DirectX 1x based. Except for few games like Starcraft or Diablo which don't have high end graphics are using OpenGL. So I have few questions to ask. The platforms i would like to target are PC (windows), Xbox 360 and PS3 (must). Should I go with learning OpenGL to see my future in game development industry? Or should I shift to Directx? If I learn OpenGL first, will it be difficult to learn direcx then? Which API is most suitable for indie development? Which one of the two API's are better from coder's (programmer's) point of view? Like OOP and style of coding. Is openGL being cross platform should be the only reason to choose it over Directx? Even when vendors are not providing enough stable drivers for it. Thanks in advance. I have read this post, but I have few questions. Should I continue studying OpenGL or just switch to DirectX to give me a better chance of landing a job in the game industry?

  If you’re a big fan of WolframAlpha’s ability to crunch the numbers on just about anything–and we certainly are–you’ll likely be just as delighted as we were to watch it massage the data from your Facebook account. Find out your most liked, discussed, and shared posts, see your Facebook habits, and other neat trends. I unleashed it on my account this morning, not sure what to expect from the results. Within the results tabulation WolframAlpha provided me with all sorts of neat data break downs. I now know exactly how many days it is to my next birthday, the composition of my aggregate posting habits (how many posts are status updates, links, or photos), the time of day when I do the most posting (and what the composition of those posts is), and my average post length. I also know my most liked post and my most commented on post. It will even crunch the numbers on your network of friends (60.6% of my friends are married, for example). By far one of the more interesting data analysis it does on the friendship data, however, is organizing all your friends into relationship clusters so you can see who in your Facebook network is friends with other people in your Facebook network. The service from WolframAlpha is free: simply visit the WolframAlpha search portal and type in “Facebook report” to start the process. You’ll be prompted to create a WolframAlpha account if you don’t have one and to authorize the WolframAlpha Facebook app to access your data. • Similar domains using my business' content, and stealing SEO results

  I've been hired to create a website for a restaurant in my city, let's call it "Flying Dragon" Chinese restaurant. The restaurant has never had a website, though the business itself is about ten years old. However, if you Google the restaurant's name, the first site that comes up seems to be affiliated with the restaurant itself, even though it is not. This site - let's say, flyingdragonchinese.com - is also the one that Google has apparently selected, in its results, to be the official website of the restaurant - in essence, the first Google result is flyingdragonchinese.com, and directly beneath it, within the same entry, are the Google reviews and contact information. Upon visiting flyingdragonchinese.com (again, not the actual name), I see that the website has taken the menu content from the restaurant, in the same manner that Yelp does, but it also seems (to the untrained eye) to be the restaurant's official site. Basically, someone has created a fake website for the business (I am not sure why) using its actual menu and contact information, and is hogging the search results. The concept is similar to a "scraping site" except that the information seems to have been stolen manually. The main problem is that visitors to this site will have an inaccurate impression of the restaurant. I feel like the obvious solution is to register a new domain for my site, and simply beat out this competitor (or whatever it is) with smarter SEO and business verification with Google. However, the Conan-the-Barbarian-web-designer part of me wants to somehow bash this other site (deservedly?) into oblivion. But I don't know what I can really do, besides maybe issuing a cease-and-desist letter, or trying to contact the web host for the site, although there is no contact information available on this "fake" site for the site owner. Has anyone ever experienced something like this? Is there any solution?
