  • Auto-Completion in Unix VI editor

    Hey guys, after using graphical IDE's like Visual Studio, I'm used to pressing CTRL+Space to auto-complete a variable or function name. Now, I know such a thing isn't completely possible in VI, but I heard there was a list of commands that could be mapped that allowed automatic completion of variables and functions in the current file opened. Does anyone know what this sequence is? Thanks in advance.

    Hi, I'm trying to run tinyMCE texteditor in ASP.NET 2.0 + 3.5 but I get the following error in my web.config file.. An error occurred loading a configuration file: Failed to start monitoring changes to '###\Visual Studio 2005\WebSites\TinyMCE\tinymce\jscripts\tiny_mce\langs' because the network BIOS command limit has been reached. For more information on this error, please refer to Microsoft knowledge base article 810886. Hosting on a UNC share is not supported for the Windows XP Platform. Any ideas how to solve this?

  • Unable to boot Ubuntu 64-bit in Virtualbox on Mac OS X

    I have latest generation Macbook Pro 7.1 (Intel Core 2 Duo) running Mac OS X 10.6.6. I installed Virtuabox 4.0.2 and tried to boot Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit iso. The boot options screen from the live CD came up: However when I continued to load the live session, or installer for that matter, I encountered the following error: This kernel requires an x86-64 CPU, but only detected an i686 CPU. Unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU. I am not sure if VT-x is enabled or is supported in the Core 2 Duo of my Macbook Pro. But at least, I have both I/O APIC and VT-x enabled for hardware virtualization as told in the Virtualbox manual.

  • Computer won't start unless power is removed for ~5 minutes

    I have a fairly standard 2-year old desktop computer (quad-core intel, single hard drive, decent video card, 300W power supply) which recently started acting up. I'm not sure what the cause is, so hopefully you can help. Sometimes (once a week-ish) I press the power button and nothing happens. No blinking, no sounds, no nothing. If I remove the power cord (or flip the switch on the power supply) I hear a capacitor discharge. If I leave it in the "no power at all" state for about 5 minutes then I can put the plug back in and the computer works perfectly. What is the issue? What do you think I have to replace?

    I am using Linux mint OS since an Year , I use to consistently download updates and install , I use chrome as a default browser , when ever I open youtube and watch some video , I listen to some repetition in sound ( say repeated lyrics of song ) while it is playing , In firefox it is working fine . What is the problem am I missing any plugin , AFAIK Chrome doesn't need a flash player plug in , It has a built in flash player . IS that the problem ? And also previously I was not facing this , recently I started using Cinimon UI centOS after this all these kind of problems started MY hard ware is 64 bit intel core i3 and also I have installed linux mint 64 bit Please let me know what is the problem and how to fix this .     I have a 500 GB USB-disk which has been used as a backup device for a few years now, but now fails without telling me why. This is a Dell box with Intel USB-controllers (so the NVIDEA problem does not apply here). I have previously had problems with a Git package marking a non-existent directory for backup (adding it make the backup succeede). The inaccessible boot partition problem described in Windows Backup fails with 0x80070002: "The system cannot find the file specified" does not apply to me. I would appreciate hints on where to look to identify why my backup fails so I can fix it.

  • Cannot enter BIOS due to broken screen

    Lately my laptop(hp g42 247sb) screen is damaged, so I hook it up with a external monitor(LG something) and it works fine now. But the only annoying thing is I cannot navigate the BIOS menu for some tweaking because the BIOS not shown on the external monitor,instead, it only shown on the broken laptop screen, and it only output to my external monitor when windwos/os is loged-on. So, is there anyway I can force output during BIOS/BOOT/POST to my external monitor? Things I have done and didn't work: (1)Set my LG monitor as primary display on both window properties and Intel Graphics panel (2)Enter the bios (F10 key) and press the fn+F4 key(change display output). (3)Disable and uninstall my internal screen(broken laptop screen) using device manager and restart, but windows(bios?) install it back on log-on. Please help me!

  • How to force my laptop to use the discrete GPU?

    My laptop (Asus X7BSV) is stuck using only the integrated GPU. It has a nVidia GT540M as well, but I cannot get it to work. I am using a Windows 7 x64 with latest drivers. This occurred after I attached an external USB monitor I need for work, and since then I cannot swap back to the nVidia GPU (dxdiag for example says that the primary GPU is the Intel integrated one). Asus support asked me to completely reinstall the system, but that is something I do not want to do. I checked the BIOS, there is no option as to what GPU to use. The nVidia card itself is working, since I can use CUDA on it, and it worked with a Ubuntu Live CD. In the nVidia software management I tried setting it to global setting, high performance GPU (nVidia), but that had no impact. What am I missing here? I did uninstall/delete all drivers and software related to the external monitor, but that did not help.

    I recently ordered a Thinkpad X120E with an AMD Fusion (Zacate) chipset. I am eyeballing an SSD for it, however newer SSDs are coming out with 6Gbps SATA interfaces. I doubt such a cheap laptop has 6Gbps SATA, but I'm debating waiting the a bit longer until the Intel 510 series come out, if anything to future proof myself by putting it in this laptop and then later on when I do upgrade to a laptop with 6Gbps SATA I'll be good to go. The hardware manual mentions that the motherboard is for a "AMD Fusion E-350" but the specifications of each hardware part isn't part of the manual. Does anyone have any information on the kind of SATA controllers in Fusion laptops so I can make a better purchasing decision?

    Hello, I have a macbook pro with Intel Core 2 Due (It's actually not Pro, but it's a January 2009 unibody macbook - when there were both a unibody macbook, and a unibody macbook pro). I'm a php developer. I just installed a new hard drive, and in an effort to create a better development environment, I decided I'll try to create a virtual machine running ubuntu server. Since I need it to work fast (and since, well - it's just better, even if by a little) and I'll already have a delay due to the nature of the apache server being on a virtual host - I want to install a 64 bit version of ubuntu server. Can VirtualBox handle it? Is it s good idea to create such a development environment ? Thank you.

    Hi, I have a server that after the first configuration it was DHCP, now I have added it to our domain and in a static IP, however after a few moments it returns to DHCP but with only some of the IPv4 setting staying the same, It loses DNS for example.     I have a project which can be compiled with Visual Studio, GCC and with some embedded compilers. Sources are shared, but each platform requires separate makefiles, project files, solutions etc. There are two ways I can organize them: Intermixed in a single hierarchy of folders With separate folders for platform-dependent files The first solution creates some confusion about which file belongs to which platform, but the second causes some repetition of the folders structure (some compilers require each project to have a separate folder).     I have a dual-band 802.11n router operating in both frequency bands with the same SSID. My Windows 7 laptop has a dual-band wireless adapter. Is there a way to find out which frequency band is the one currently used by the client? Also, is there a way to set the preffered band? Thanks. EDIT1: The router is Linksys E4200 (V2) and I essentially want to keep the 2.4GHz band in the mixed-mode so that the legacy 802.11g devices can connect while allocating the 5.0GHz band for 802.11n devices.
