    I have a php page which contains a form. Sometimes this page is submitted to itself (like when pics are uploaded). I wouldn't want users to have to fill in every field again and again, so I use this as a value of a text-input inside the form: value="<?php echo htmlentities(@$_POST['annonsera_headline'],ENT_COMPAT,'UTF-8');?>"> This works, except it adds a "\" sign before every double-quote... For instance writing 19" wheels gives after page is submitted to itself: 19\" wheels And if I don't even use htmlentities then everything after the quotes dissappears. What is the problem here?

  • Is there any difference between SQL running in code vs the MySQL command line?

    I have a SQL update statement I am running from inside a PHP program. It is prepared and then executed. When I run it in PHP, it reports a constraint violation. When I run the exact same statement from the command line (which I am getting via dBug()), it works with no errors. This sounds impossible, so I keep looking for differences between the statements. The only thing I can see is that when I execute it with an array of arguments, they all appear to be chars, when some should be integers. Any suggestions for where to look? I can post the code, but that does not seem like it would be helpful, because the code works.

I already have a SQL query retrieving all data, with JOINs on my 7 tables. But...when I try to put data in XML format, I reach a limit. My PHP loop can catch each row, but I would like to benefit from hierachical structure of the XML, and all I have are rows with the same data repeated. It is better to query once and to construct the XML tree in PHP or to query each time I want access to a lower level ?

    Hi I don't use php or mysql but I am trying to upgrade a phpbb board I got but the one click installer forgot to install some stuff in the database so I can't upgrade to the newest version till I add the missing stuff. So I need to do a remote connect to mysql database but I am not sure how to do this or what software I need(free, and very easy to setup I don't want to spend much time on this). I don't really want to use phpmyadmin since I don't want to start setting up a virtual directory and whatever else it needs to be installed. Like I said I don't do php or mysql I just choose it since in my hosting package it was one click to install phpbb and I had a mysql database free. Thanks

For example I have 6 pictures (or more) and I would like to create ONE picture who contain these different pictures. The Difficulty is that my final picture must have a fixed width and height (304x179), so if the different pictures are too big they must be cut.     Hi, I was trying to create a directory of private files that could only be accessed when a user logs in. To do this, I used a folder outside the web directory, and then php to access it, if allowed. I have read through the page and while I understand the general concepts, I am having some trouble based on how my INSERT statement is currently built. Today, I am using the following: $sql = "INSERT INTO tablename VALUES ('', '$_SESSION['Member1FirstName'], '$_SESSION['Member1LastName'], '$_SESSION['Member1ID'], '$_SESSION['Member2FirstName'], '$_SESSION['Member2LastName'], '$_SESSION['Member2ID'] .... and the list goes on for 20+ members with some other values entered. It seems most people in the examples already have all their data stored in an array. On my site, I accept form inputs, action="" is set to self, php validation takes place and if validation passes, data is stored into SESSION variables on page 2 then redirected to the next page in the process (page 3) (approximately 8-10 pages in the whole process). thanks!

    I'm using PHP to scrape a website and collect some data. It's all done without using regex. I'm using php's explode() method to find particular HTML tags instead. It is possible that if the structure of the website changes (CSS, HTML), then wrong data may be collected by the scraper. So the question is - how do I know if the HTML structure has changed? How to identify this before storing any data to my database to avoid wrong data being stored.
