  • why is my emacs yanking the wrong text?

    running emacs 22... on ubuntu 9.04, fresh install. When I copy a region of text via C-w (clipboard-kill-ring-save) then yank it back with C-y (clipboard-yank) it pastes random stuff, from some other buffer that isn't even open. It was working fine earlier today and I haven't changed my emacs config. Any ideas why this is suddenly happening/ how to fix it? Thanks!

  • Is it possible to change HANDLE that has been opened for synchronous I/O to be opened for asynchrono

    Dear all, Most of my daily programming work in Windows is nowadays around I/O operations of all kind (pipes, consoles, files, sockets, ...). I am well aware of different methods of reading and writing from/to different kinds of handles (Synchronous, asynchronous waiting for completion on events, waiting on file HANDLEs, I/O completion ports, and alertable I/O). We use many of those. For some of our applications it would be very useful to have only one way to treat all handles. I mean, the program may not know, what kind of handle it has received and we would like to use, let's say, I/O completion ports for all. So first I would ask: Let's assume I have a handle: HANDLE h; which has been received by my process for I/O from somewhere. Is there any easy and reliable way to find out what flags it has been created with? The main flag in question is FILE_FLAG_OVERLAPPED. The only way known to me so far, is to try to register such handle into I/O completion port (using CreateIoCompletionPort()). If that succeeds the handle has been created with FILE_FLAG_OVERLAPPED. But then only I/O completion port must be used, as the handle can not be unregistered from it without closing the HANDLE h itself. Providing there is an easy a way to determine presence of FILE_FLAG_OVERLAPPED, there would come my second question: Is there any way how to add such flag to already existing handle? That would make a handle that has been originally open for synchronous operations to be open for asynchronous. Would there be a way how to create opposite (remove the FILE_FLAG_OVERLAPPED to create synchronous handle from asynchronous)? I have not found any direct way after reading through MSDN and googling a lot. Would there be at least some trick that could do the same? Like re-creating the handle in same way using CreateFile() function or something similar? Something even partly documented or not documented at all? The main place where I would need this, is to determine the the way (or change the way) process should read/write from handles sent to it by third party applications.   • jquery finish one animation then start the other one

    I have one two divs and two seperate links that triggers slideDown and slideUp for the divs. When one of the divs are slided down and I click the other one, I hide the first div (slidingUp) and then open the other div (slidingDown) but, at the moment its like while one div is sliding down, the other, also in the same time, is sliding up. is there a way that would tell jquery to wait to finish sliding down of one div and only then start sliding up the other ?

I am bit confused on how to keep track of selected item(of that collection) and pass that to client. Any ideas? If the solution makes use of the Open Source WPF PropertyGrid (http://www.codeplex.com/wpg) I will implement the changes /additions back into the control.

  • Visual Studio Missing Warnings

    Anyone find where when you open a certain solution (that contains multiple projects) and compile that you're not seen some warnings that your collegues see when compiling the exact same solution at the exact same state? The code is the same. I depend highly on the warnings as a shortcut to find unused methods, etc. But I get nothing during compile.. only a couple based on references to user controls, etc.

    I can't find a css formatter (web based or Windows app) which formats the css where it puts the open brace on its own line aligned with its close brace, plus indents the attributes. The web based css formatters out here seem to be based on CSSTidy which doesn't do what I want. I don't like this CSSTidy format: .example { font-size: 3em; } I want: .example { font-size: 3em; }

I am quite happy with the result as I managed to integrate it with the ms build process etc. The problem with Selenium tests is that they are not always reliable especially if you browse with something else than Firefox.     I have a input file which are all floating point numbers to 4 decimal place. i.e. 13359 0.0000 0.0000 0.0001 0.0001 0.0002` 0.0003 0.0007 ... (the first is the id). My class uses the loadVectorsFromFile method which multiplies it by 10000 and then int() these numbers. On top of that, I also loop through each vector to ensure that there are no negative values inside. However, when I perform _hclustering, I am continually seeing the error, "Linkage Z contains negative values". I seriously think this is a bug because: I checked my values, the values are no where small enough or big enough to approach the limits of the floating point numbers and the formula that I used to derive the values in the file uses absolute value (my input is DEFINITELY right). Can someone enligten me as to why I am seeing this weird error?   • Trouble setting IE8 browser mode to IE7

    Inspite of putting the following meta tag I am not getting the expected result: <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE7" > I open the developer tool window. In the same bar where the menu appears there is an item called Browser Mode: it still shows IE 8 by default. Even doing document.documentMode in the console window shows "8". Am I doing anything wrong?

When I have a Right to Left language string which contains more the one word the JSON encodes it backwards (For example: "Hello world" is encoded as "world hello"). The string is extracted from a database, there for can be of any language. How do I force the correct encoding of Right to Left language without ruining other languages? Thanks
