  • Using an ORM with a database that has no defined relationships?

    - by Ahmad
    Consider a database(MSSQL 2005) that consists of 100+ tables which have primary keys defined to a certain degree. There are 'relationships' between tables, however these are not enforced with foreign key constraints. Consider the following simplified example of typical types of tables I am dealing with. The are clear relations between the User and City and Province tables. However, they key issues is the inconsistent data types in the tables and naming conventions. User: UserRowId [int] PK Name [varchar(50)] CityId [smallint] ProvinceRowId [bigint] City: CityRowId [bigint] PK CityDescription [varchar(100)] Province: ProvinceId [int] PK ProvinceDesc [varchar(50)] I am considering a rewrite of the application (in ASP.net MVC) that uses this data source as is similar in design to MVC storefront. However I am going through a proof of concept phase and this is one of the stumbling blocks I have come across. What are my options in terms of ORM choice that can be easily used and why? Should I even be considering an ORM? (The reason I ask this is that most explanations and tutorials all work with relatively cleanly designed existing databases, or newly created ones when compared to mine. I am thus having a very hard time trying to find a way forward with this problem) There is a huge amount of existing SQL queries, would a datamappper(eg IBatis.net) be more suitable since we could easily modify them to work and reuse the investment already made? I have found this question on SO which indicates to me that an ORM can be used - however I get the impression that this a question of mapping? Note: at the moment, the object model is not clearly defined as it was non-existent. The existing system pretty much did almost everything in SQL or consisted of overly complicated, and numerous queries to complete fucntionality. I am pretty much a noob and have zero experience around ORMs and MVC - so this an awesome learning curve I am on.

  • Why is CDATA needed and not working everywhere the same way?

    - by baptx
    In Firefox's and Chrome's consoles, this works (alerts script content): var script = document.createElement("script"); script.textContent = ( function test() { var a = 1; } ); document.getElementsByTagName("head")[0].appendChild(script); alert(document.getElementsByTagName("head")[0].lastChild.textContent); Using this code as a Greasemonkey script for Firefox works too. Now, if want to add a "private method" do() to test() It is not working anymore, in neither Firefox/Chrome console nor in a Greasemonkey script: var script = document.createElement("script"); script.textContent = ( function test() { var a = 1; var do = function () { var b = 2; }; } ); document.getElementsByTagName("head")[0].appendChild(script); alert(document.getElementsByTagName("head")[0].lastChild.textContent); To make this work in a Greasemonkey script, I have to put all the code in a CDATA tag block: var script = document.createElement("script"); script.textContent = (<![CDATA[ function test() { var a = 1; var do = function() { var b = 2; }; } ]]>); document.getElementsByTagName("head")[0].appendChild(script); alert(document.getElementsByTagName("head")[0].lastChild.textContent); This is only works in a Greasemonkey script; it throws an error from the Firefox/Chrome console. I don't understand why I should use a CDATA tag, I have no XML rules to respect here because I'm not using XHTML. To make it work in Firefox console (or Firebug), I need to do put CDATA into tags like <> and </>: var script = document.createElement("script"); script.textContent = (<><![CDATA[ function test() { var a = 1; var do = function() { var b = 2; }; } ]]></>); document.getElementsByTagName("head")[0].appendChild(script); alert(document.getElementsByTagName("head")[0].lastChild.textContent); This doesn't working from the Chrome console. I've tried adding .toString() at the end like many people are doing (]]></>).toString();), but it's useless. I tried to replace <> and </> with a tag name <foo> </foo> but that didn't work either. Why doesn't my first code snippet work if I define var do = function(){} inside another function? Why should I use CDATA as a workaround even if I'm not using XHTML? And why should I add <> </> for Firefox console if it's working without in a Greasemonkey script? Finally, what is the solution for Chrome and other browsers? EDIT: My bad, I've never used do-while in JS and I've created this example in a simple text editor, so I didn't see "do" was a reserved keyword :p But problem is still here, I've not initialized the Javascript class in my examples. With this new example, CDATA is needed for Greasemonkey, Firefox need CDATA between E4X <> </> and Chrome fails: var script = document.createElement("script"); script.textContent = ( <><![CDATA[var aClass = new aClass(); function aClass() { var a = 1; var aPrivateMethod = function() { var b = 2; alert(b); }; this.aPublicMethod = function() { var c = 3; alert(c); }; } aClass.aPublicMethod();]]></> ); document.getElementsByTagName("head")[0].appendChild(script); Question: why?

  • Arduino variable going blank after the first pass

    - by user541597
    I have an Arduino sketch that takes a timet and when that timet is equal to the current time it sets the new timet to timet + 2. For example: char* convert(char* x, String y) { int hour; int minute; sscanf(x, "%d:%d", &hour, &minute); char buf[6]; if (y == "6") { if (hour > 17) { hour = (hour+6)%24; snprintf(buf, 10, "%d:%d", hour, minute ); } else if (hour < 18) { //hour = hour + 6; minute = (minute + 2); snprintf(buf, 10, "%d:%d", hour, minute); } } if (y == "12") { if (hour > 11) { hour = (hour+12)%24; snprintf(buf, 10, "%d:%d", hour, minute ); } else if (hour < 12) { hour = hour + 12; snprintf(buf, 10, "%d:%d", hour, minute); } } if (y == "24") { hour = (hour+24)%24; snprintf(buf, 10, "%d:%d", hour, minute ); } return buf; } The sketch starts for example at 1:00am. timet is set to 1:02, at system time 1:02 timet is equal to the system time. My loops looks like this: if (timet == currenttime) { timet = convert(timet) } Whenever I check the value of timet it should equal 1:04, however I get the correct value at the first run after the execution of convert, however every time after that my timet value is blank. I tried changing the code instead of using the if loop. I only run the convert function when I send for example t through the serial monitor. This works fine and outputs the correct timet after the execution of the convert function, So I figured the problem is in the if loop... Any ideas?

  • Strange inheritance behaviour in Objective-C

    - by Smikey
    Hi all, I've created a class called SelectableObject like so: #define kNumberKey @"Object" #define kNameKey @"Name" #define kThumbStringKey @"Thumb" #define kMainStringKey @"Main" #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> @interface SelectableObject : NSObject <NSCoding> { int number; NSString *name; NSString *thumbString; NSString *mainString; } @property (nonatomic, assign) int number; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString *name; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString *thumbString; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString *mainString; @end So far so good. And the implementation section conforms to the NSCoding protocol as expected. HOWEVER, when I add a new class which inherits from this class, i.e. #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> #import "SelectableObject.h" @interface Pet : SelectableObject <NSCoding> { } @end I suddenly get the following compiler error in the Selectable object class! SelectableObject.h:16: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'interface' This makes no sense to me. Why is the interface declaration for the SelectableObject class suddenly broken? I also import it in a couple of other classes I've written... Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks! Michael

  • Incorrect logic flow? function that gets coordinates for a sudoku game

    - by igor
    This function of mine keeps on failing an autograder, I am trying to figure out if there is a problem with its logic flow? Any thoughts? Basically, if the row is wrong, "invalid row" should be printed, and clearInput(); called, and return false. When y is wrong, "invalid column" printed, and clearInput(); called and return false. When both are wrong, only "invalid row" is to be printed (and still clearInput and return false. Obviously when row and y are correct, print no error and return true. My function gets through most of the test cases, but fails towards the end, I'm a little lost as to why. bool getCoords(int & x, int & y) { char row; bool noError=true; cin>>row>>y; row=toupper(row); if(row>='A' && row<='I' && isalpha(row) && y>=1 && y<=9) { x=row-'A'; y=y-1; return true; } else if(!(row>='A' && row<='I')) { cout<<"Invalid row"<<endl; noError=false; clearInput(); return false; } else { if(noError) { cout<<"Invalid column"<<endl; } clearInput(); return false; } }

  • How do I post a .wav file from CS5 Flash, AS3 to a Java servlet?

    - by Muostar
    Hi, I am trying to send a byteArray from my .fla to my running tomcat server integrated in Eclipse. From flash I am using the following code: var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); var header:URLRequestHeader = new URLRequestHeader("audio/wav", "application/octet-stream"); var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://localhost:8080/pdp/Server?wav=" + tableID); request.requestHeaders.push(header); request.method = URLRequestMethod.POST; request.data = file;//wav; loader.load(request); And my java servlet looks as follows: try{ int readBytes = -1; int lengthOfBuffer = request.getContentLength(); InputStream input = request.getInputStream(); byte[] buffer = new byte[lengthOfBuffer]; ByteArrayOutputStream output = new ByteArrayOutputStream(lengthOfBuffer); while((readBytes = input.read(buffer, 0, lengthOfBuffer)) != -1) { output.write(buffer, 0, readBytes); } byte[] finalOutput = output.toByteArray(); input.close(); FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream(getServletContext().getRealPath(""+"/temp/"+wav+".wav")); fos.write(finalOutput); fos.close(); When i run the flash .swf file and send the bytearray to the server, I receive following in the server's console window:: (loads of loads of Chinese symbols) May 20, 2010 7:04:57 PM org.apache.tomcat.util.http.Parameters processParameters WARNING: Parameters: Character decoding failed. Parameter '? (loads of loads of Chinese symbols) and then looping this for a long time. It is like I recieve the bytes but not encoding/decoding them correctly. What can I do?

  • Rotating an ImageVIew along with its original position in android in below HoneyComb versions

    - by candy
    I am trying rotate an ImageView along with its original location (rotating the image aswell as the view). So that After rotation, when I click on the rotated Image in its current position, it should be able clicked in the rotated location only. For this solution I am trying the following code. However it is rotating is going fine. After the rotation end I need to place the ImageView and Image in the rotated Location to make it able click over there only. But it is not going successfully. I am unable to rotated Image location axis points to place correctly. Can any one please suggest a way to resolve this issue. fyi-It should work on Gingerbread version android-9 aniView1.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(View v) { Log.e("", "Clicked on IMAGE VIEW - 1"); } }); RotateAnimation rotate5 = new RotateAnimation(0, 150, Animation.INFINITE, 100, Animation.INFINITE, 250); //rotate5.setFillAfter(true); rotate5.setDuration(2000); rotate5.setInterpolator(new LinearInterpolator()); aniView1.setAnimation(rotate5); rotate5.setAnimationListener(new Animation.AnimationListener() { @Override public void onAnimationStart(Animation animation) { } @Override public void onAnimationRepeat(Animation animation) { } @Override public void onAnimationEnd(Animation animation) { int newTop = (int) (aniView1.getTop() + aniView1.getWidth()); aniView1.layout(aniView1.getLeft()-200, newTop, aniView1.getRight(), aniView1.getBottom() + aniView1.getMeasuredWidth()); // aniView1.setLayoutParams(new // RelativeLayout.LayoutParams(RelativeLayout.LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT,RelativeLayout.LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT)); } });

  • What would be different in Java if Enum declaration didn't have the recursive part

    - by atamur
    Please see http://stackoverflow.com/questions/211143/java-enum-definition and http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3061759/why-in-java-enum-is-declared-as-enume-extends-enume for general discussion. Here I would like to learn what exactly would be broken (not typesafe anymore, or requiring additional casts etc) if Enum class was defined as public class Enum<E extends Enum> I'm using this code for testing my ideas: interface MyComparable<T> { int myCompare(T o); } class MyEnum<E extends MyEnum> implements MyComparable<E> { public int myCompare(E o) { return -1; } } class FirstEnum extends MyEnum<FirstEnum> {} class SecondEnum extends MyEnum<SecondEnum> {} With it I wasn't able to find any benefits in this exact case. PS. the fact that I'm not allowed to do class ThirdEnum extends MyEnum<SecondEnum> {} when MyEnum is defined with recursion is a) not relevant, because with real enums you are not allowed to do that just because you can't extend enum yourself b) not true - pls try it in a compiler and see that it in fact is able to compile w/o any errors PPS. I'm more and more inclined to believe that the correct answer here would be "nothing would change if you remove the recursive part" - but I just can't believe that.

  • Mapping an instance of IList in NHibernate

    - by Martin Kirsche
    I'm trying to map a parent-child relationship using NHibernate (2.1.2), MySql.Data (6.2.2) and MySQL Server (5.1). I figured out that this must be done using a <bag> in the mapping file. I build a test app which is running without yielding any errors and is doing an insert for each entry but somehow the foreign key inside the children table (ParentId) is always empty (null). Here are the important parts of my code... Parent public class Parent { public virtual int Id { get; set; } public virtual IList<Child> Children { get; set; } } <class name="Parent"> <id name="Id"> <generator class="native"/> </id> <bag name="Children" cascade="all"> <key column="ParentId"/> <one-to-many class="Child"/> </bag> </class> Child public class Child { public virtual int Id { get; set; } } <class name="Child"> <id name="Id"> <generator class="native"/> </id> </class> Program using (ISession session = sessionFactory.OpenSession()) { session.Save( new Parent() { Children = new List<Child>() { new Child(), new Child() } }); } Any ideas what I did wrong?

  • How to print all users from windows-group to a textfile?

  • Sending files from server to client in Java

    - by Lee Jacobson
    Hi, I'm trying to find a way to send files of different file types from a server to a client. I have this code on the server to put the file into a byte array: File file = new File(resourceLocation); byte[] b = new byte[(int) file.length()]; FileInputStream fileInputStream; try { fileInputStream = new FileInputStream(file); try { fileInputStream.read(b); } catch (IOException ex) { System.out.println("Error, Can't read from file"); } for (int i = 0; i < b.length; i++) { fileData += (char)b[i]; } } catch (FileNotFoundException e) { System.out.println("Error, File Not Found."); } I then send fileData as a string to the client. This works fine for txt files but when it comes to images I find that although it creates the file fine with the data in, the image won't open. I'm not sure if I'm even going about this the right way. Thanks for the help.

  • Android: Showing photos runs out of memory

  • How to get mouseposition when context menu appears?

    - by ikky
    Hi. I have a panel which holds many pictureboxes. Each picturebox has registered "contextRightMenu" as their context menu. What i want when the context menu pops up is to get the current mouseposition. I have tried getting the mouseposition by using mouseDown and click, but these events happens after one of the items of the context menu is clicked, and that is too late. the popup event of the context menu does not deliver mouse event args, so i don't know how to get the mouseposition. If i can get mouse event args it is easy. Then i just can: this.contextRightClick.Popup += new System.EventHandler(this.contextRightClick_Popup); // If EventArgs include mouseposition within the sender private void contextRightClick_Popup)(object sender, EventArgs e) { int iLocationX = sender.Location.X; int iLocationY = sender.Location.Y; Point pPosition = new Point(iLocationX + e.X, iLocationY + e.Y); // Location + position within the sender = current mouseposition } Can anyone help me either get some mouse event args, or suggest a event that will run before the contextmenu pop ups? Thanks in advance

  • linux raw socket programming question

    - by user194420
    Hi all, I am trying to create a raw socket which send and receive message with ip/tcp header under linux. I can successfully binds to a port and receive tcp message(ie:syn) However, the message seems to be handled by the os, but not mine. I am just a reader of it(like wireshark). My raw socket binds to port 8888, and then i try to telnet to that port . In wireshark, it shows that the port 8888 reply a "rst ack" when it receive the "syn" request. In my program, it shows that it receive a new message and it doesnot reply with any message. Any way to actually binds to that port?(prevent os handle it) Here is part of my code, i try to cut those error checking for easy reading sockfd = socket(AF_INET, SOCK_RAW, IPPROTO_TCP); int tmp = 1; const int *val = &tmp; setsockopt (sockfd, IPPROTO_IP, IP_HDRINCL, val, sizeof (tmp)); servaddr.sin_family = AF_INET; servaddr.sin_addr.s_addr = htonl(INADDR_ANY); servaddr.sin_port = htons(8888); bind(sockfd, (struct sockaddr*)&servaddr, sizeof(servaddr)); //call recv in loop

Here we have two files: classA.h and classB.h classA.h: #ifndef _class_a_h_ #define _class_a_h_ #include "classB.h" class B; //???? class A { public: A() { ptr_b = new B(); //???? } virtual ~A() { if(ptr_b) delete ptr_b; //???? num_a = 0; } int num_a; B* ptr_b; //???? }; #endif //_class_a_h_ classB.h: #ifndef _class_b_h_ #define _class_b_h_ #include "classA.h" class A; //???? class B { public: B() { ptr_a = new A(); //???? num_b = 0; } virtual ~B() { if(ptr_a) delete ptr_a; //???? } int num_b; A* ptr_a; //???? }; #endif //_class_b_h_ when I try to compile it, the compiler (g++) says: classB.h: In constructor ‘B::B()’: classB.h:12: error: invalid use of incomplete type ‘struct A’ classB.h:6: error: forward declaration of ‘struct A’ classB.h: In destructor ‘virtual B::~B()’: classB.h:16: warning: possible problem detected in invocation of delete operator: classB.h:16: warning: invalid use of incomplete type ‘struct A’ classB.h:6: warning: forward declaration of ‘struct A’ classB.h:16: note: neither the destructor nor the class-specific operator delete will be called, even if they are declared when the class is defined.

  • Factorial in Prolog and C++

    - by Joshua Green
    I would like to work out a number's factorial. My factorial rule is in a Prolog file and I am connecting it to a C++ code. Can someone tell me what is wrong with my C++ interface please? % factorial.pl factorial( 1, 1 ):- !. factorial( X, Fac ):- X > 1, Y is X - 1, factorial( Y, New_Fac ), Fac is X * New_Fac. // factorial.cpp # headerfiles term_t t1; term_t t2; term_t goal_term; functor_t goal_functor; int main( int argc, char** argv ) { argc = 4; argv[0] = "libpl.dll"; argv[1] = "-G32m"; argv[2] = "-L32m"; argv[3] = "-T32m"; PL_initialise(argc, argv); if ( !PL_initialise(argc, argv) ) PL_halt(1); PlCall( "consult(swi('plwin.rc'))" ); PlCall( "consult('factorial.pl')" ); cout << "Enter your factorial number: "; long n; cin >> n; PL_put_integer( t1, n ); t1 = PL_new_term_ref(); t2 = PL_new_term_ref(); goal_term = PL_new_term_ref(); goal_functor = PL_new_functor( PL_new_atom("factorial"), 2 ); PL_put_atom( t1, t2 ); PL_cons_functor( goal_term, goal_functor, t1, t2 ); PL_halt( PL_toplevel() ? 0 : 1 ); }

  • Why can I call a non-const member function pointer from a const method?

    - by sdg
    A co-worker asked about some code like this that originally had templates in it. I have removed the templates, but the core question remains: why does this compile OK? #include <iostream> class X { public: void foo() { std::cout << "Here\n"; } }; typedef void (X::*XFUNC)() ; class CX { public: explicit CX(X& t, XFUNC xF) : object(t), F(xF) {} void execute() const { (object.*F)(); } private: X& object; XFUNC F; }; int main(int argc, char* argv[]) { X x; const CX cx(x,&X::foo); cx.execute(); return 0; } Given that CX is a const object, and its member function execute is const, therefore inside CX::execute the this pointer is const. But I am able to call a non-const member function through a member function pointer. Are member function pointers a documented hole in the const-ness of the world? What (presumably obvious to others) issue have we missed?

  • Getting value from pointer

    - by Eric
    Hi, I'm having problem getting the value from a pointer. I have the following code in C++: void* Nodo::readArray(VarHash& var, string varName, int posicion, float& d) { //some code before... void* res; float num = bit.getFloatFromArray(arregloTemp); //THIS FUNCTION RETURN A FLOAT AND IT'S OK cout << "NUMBER " << num << endl; d = num; res = &num; return res } int main() { float d = 0.0; void* res = n.readArray(v, "c", 0, d); //THE VALUES OF THE ARRAY ARE: {65.5, 66.5}; float* car3 = (float*)res; cout << "RESULT_READARRAY " << *car3 << endl; cout << "FLOAT REFERENCE: " << d << endl; } The result of running this code is the following: NUMBER 65.5 RESULT_READARRAY -1.2001 //INCORRECT IT SHOULD BE LIKE NUMBER FLOAT REFERENCE: 65.5 //CORRECT NUMBER 66.5 RESULT_READARRAY -1.2001 //INCORRECT IT SHOULD BE LIKE NUMBER FLOAT REFERENCE: 66.5 //CORRECT For some reason, when I get the value of the pointer returned by the function called readArray is incorrect. I'm passing a float variable(d) as a reference in the same function just to verify that the value is ok, and as you can see, THE FLOAT REFERENCE matches the NUMBER. If I declare the variable num(read array) as a static float, the first RESULT_READARRAY will be 65.5, that is correct, however, the next value will be the same instead of 66.5. Let me show you the result of running the code using static float variable: NUMBER 65.5 RESULT_READARRAY 65.5 //PERFECT FLOAT REFERENCE: 65.5 //¨PERFECT NUMBER 65.5 //THIS IS INCORRECT, IT SHOULD BE 66.5 RESULT_READARRAY 65.5 FLOAT REFERENCE: 65.5 Do you know how can I get the correct value returned by the function called readArray()?

  • How does PATH environment affect my running executable from using msvcr90 to msvcr80 ???

    - by Runner
    #include <gtk/gtk.h> int main( int argc, char *argv[] ) { GtkWidget *window; gtk_init (&argc, &argv); window = gtk_window_new (GTK_WINDOW_TOPLEVEL); gtk_widget_show (window); gtk_main (); return 0; } I tried putting various versions of MSVCR80.dll under the same directory as the generated executable(via cmake),but none matched. Is there a general solution for this kinda problem? UPDATE Some answers recommend install the VS redist,but I'm not sure whether or not it will affect my installed Visual Studio 9, can someone confirm? Manifest file of the executable <assembly xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1" manifestVersion="1.0"> <trustInfo xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v3"> <security> <requestedPrivileges> <requestedExecutionLevel level="asInvoker" uiAccess="false"></requestedExecutionLevel> </requestedPrivileges> </security> </trustInfo> <dependency> <dependentAssembly> <assemblyIdentity type="win32" name="Microsoft.VC90.DebugCRT" version="9.0.21022.8" processorArchitecture="x86" publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b"></assemblyIdentity> </dependentAssembly> </dependency> </assembly> It seems the manifest file says it should use the MSVCR90, why it always reporting missing MSVCR80.dll? FOUND After spending several hours on it,finally I found it's caused by this setting in PATH: D:\MATLAB\R2007b\bin\win32 After removing it all works fine.But why can that setting affect my running executable from using msvcr90 to msvcr80 ???

  • Pointers, am I doing them correctly? Objective-c/cocoa

    - by Chris
    I have this in my @interface struct track currentTrack; struct track previousTrack; int anInt; Since these are not objects, I do not have to have them like int* anInt right? And if setting non-object values like ints, boolean, etc, I do not have to release the old value right (assuming non-GC environment)? The struct contains objects: typedef struct track { NSString* theId; NSString* title; } *track; Am I doing that correctly? Lastly, I access the struct like this: [currentTrack.title ...]; currentTrack.theId = @"asdf"; //LINE 1 I'm also manually managing the memory (from a setter) for the struct like this: [currentTrack.title autorelease]; currentTrack.title = [newTitle retain]; If I'm understanding the garbage collection correctly, I should be able to ditch that and just set it like LINE 1 (above)? Also with garbage collection, I don't need a dealloc method right? If I use garbage collection does this mean it only runs on OS 10.5+? And any other thing I should know before I switch to garbage collected code? Sorry there are so many questions. Very new to objective-c and desktop programming. Thanks

  • How to Implement Custom List View for the list Items in Android Application

    - by avadhani
    I had a problem with the list view having both parent list and the child list of the list activity(implemented through database query). I wish to show them differing their properties by changing the text style (parent list items are in bold, child list items are in normal style). The following is the code from which all the child and parent list items having the same style(bold): String sql = "SELECT Parentid,Childid,Name from (select com.Parentid, com.Childid, com.Name from table1 mem inner join table2 cd on mem.column1=cd.column1 inner join table3 com on com.childid = mem.childid where Parentid is NULL UNION SELECT com.Parentid, com.Childid,com.Name from table1 mem inner join table3 com on com.childid = mem.childid inner join table2 cd on mem.column1=cd.column1 where Parentid is NOT NULL) a group by Parentid, Childid;"; Cursor cdata = myDbHelper.getView(sql); and the List Adapter is: private static final String fields[] = {"Name"}; int[] names = new int[] {R.id.name}; SimpleCursorAdapter adapter2 = new SimpleCursorAdapter(this,R.layout.clientlist1, cdata, fields,names ); and the clientlist.xml is: <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:id="@+id/MainLayout" android:padding="5px"> <TextView android:id="@+id/name" android:layout_alignParentRight="true" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:textSize="12sp" android:textColor="#104082" android:textStyle="bold" android:layout_weight="1" /> From this i am getting the list having the complete list having both parent and child list items in a single list view. I wish to differ in their text style(bold, normal) for parent and child items respectively. Please help me with the code/links. Thanks a lot in advance.

  • C system calls open / read / write / close problem.

    - by Andrei Ciobanu
    Hello, given the following code (it's supposed to write "hellowolrd" in a "helloworld" file, and then read the text): #include <fcntl.h> #include <sys/types.h> #include <sys/stat.h> #define FNAME "helloworld" int main(){ int filedes, nbytes; char buf[128]; /* Creates a file */ if((filedes=open(FNAME, O_CREAT | O_EXCL | O_WRONLY | O_APPEND, S_IRUSR | S_IWUSR)) == -1){ write(2, "Error1\n", 7); } /* Writes hellow world to file */ if(write(filedes, FNAME, 10) != 10) write(2, "Error2\n", 7); /* Close file */ close(filedes); if((filedes = open(FNAME, O_RDONLY))==-1) write(2, "Error3\n", 7); /* Prints file contents on screen */ if((nbytes=read(filedes, buf, 128)) == -1) write(2, "Error4\n", 7); if(write(1, buf, nbytes) != nbytes) write(2, "Error5\n", 7); /* Close rile afte read */ close(filedes); return (0); } The first time i run the program, the output is: helloworld After that every time I to run the program, the output is: Error1 Error2 helloworld I don't understand why the text isn't appended, as I've specified the O_APPEND file. Is it because I've included O_CREAT ? It the file is already created, shouldn't O_CREAT be ignored ?
