• Need help in making my new laptop dual boot with ubuntu 9.10

  Hi, I have a new laptop which comes with window 7. I want to dual-boot it with ubuntu 9.10. I have burned the install disk of 9.10. But during the install process, I am stuck in 'setup my partition'. It has 2 options: wipe out my whole hard disk' or 'manually configure' I don't want it to wipe out my whole hard disk (i want to keep my window 7). But how can I manually configure the partition to use the free space and create a partition so that I can install ubuntu 9.10 and swap space? Thank you.

  Running Oracle Linux 5.8 (which is just re-branded RedHat EL 5.8) I must change the From address. But we have scripts that use mailx which cannot be re-written to use any extra flags, so I'd like to use internal variables instead, which I see on the linux.die.net manpage on mailx is an alternative to the -r flag: -r address Sets the From address. Overrides any from variable specified in environment or startup files. Tilde escapes are disabled. The -r address options are passed to the mail transfer agent unless SMTP is used. • Need personal music collection streaming solution

  I used to use Opera and it's built in media server feature for some time and it both worked and looked really well. It's dead now and i'm in search of a decent audio streaming solution (Windows 8) to be able to stream my music collection via http to work or whatever.. I tried couple of PHP scripts but they all looked really awful, also, tried couple of solutions mentioned here at Superuser but i wasn't really satisfied.. I tried vibestreamer as well and while it looks really nice i'm not really into installing it as an application. I've set up an WAMP server which i intend to use in this purpose. I'd be mostly satisfied with a way to browse my collection folders and pick the one i want to play, no playlists and various sorting features a la iTunes. Any suggestions? Thanks

• Need to use wusa to stop endless rebooting on R2

  I installed 3 updates, which after rebooting resulted in a reboot loop, never going past the "configuring your computer for windows" stage. Last known good configuration, safe mode etc make no difference (as expected). I have no system restore images available. I used dism to uninstall one of the updates, but the other two appear to be MSP patches, and so I cannot use dism to uninstall them. From what I have been reading it appears I must use wusa, however wusa does not seem to be included in WinRE. Does anyone have a suggestion of how I can access wusa to uninstall these updates, and hopefully reverse this problem?

• Cannot Delete Shortcut from Desktop because I need Admin Permissions even though I am Admin

  Installing the new Malwarebytes 2.0 put a shortcut on my desktop that I want to remove, but dragging it to the recycle bin shows this message: I am an administrator on this computer, so normally clicking "Continue" solves the problem, but it didn't work here. Instead, I got this message. How can I resolve this? I have tried using the built in super administrator account to remove it, but that does not work either.

• supervisord failed to start nagiosapi after reboot, need to run reload manually

  I have supervisord to start nagiosapi everytime the server starts. The API created a status dump file called status.dat, which will get updated periodically. The following is the conf file that starts the api. [program:nagapi] directory = /home/nagapi user = api command = /bin/bash -c "source /home/nagapi/.virtualenvs/nagapi/bin/activate; /home/nagapi/nagios-api/nagios-api" stdout_logfile = /home/nagapi/supervisor_nagios-api_stdout.log stderr_logfile = /home/nagapi/supervisor_nagios-api_stderr.log Everytime i restart the server, supervisord cannot start the api. stderr.log claims that it cannot find the status.dat file located in /var/cache/nagios3. It seems like the files was not created yet when supervisor tried to run the api the first time. I'm saying this because if i do a supervisorctl reload, everything would reload just fine, and the api would run ok about 50 seconds after the reload command completes. should i change the command option of the conf file to check for

• Do I really need Microsoft Updates?

  When I install a fresh copy of Windows XP Home (I bought it from the store.. not a copy), my PC rocks like lightening speed. But when I start installing all the updates, patches & less .NET 4.0 client (as the .NET 4.0 Client seems to bring machine to slow crawl). The PC starts to slow down.. like there are more resources to watch or something is happening in the background. So could I not get away with an awesome virus protector and an awesome firewall set-up and avoid all the patches? The machine I have is a quad 4, 4 GB RAM and 2.3 GHz process. Tons of room and the machine can run several applications at one time.. but when the updates happen.. it's s-l-o-w!

  Dear all, This is not a programming issue, just want to ask any one having Internet Explorer Javascript disabled issue. I try go to Internet Option enable everything, including javascript restart it. But all the javascript still disabled. I go to jQuery API website, test the javascript, at the Demo part nothing show. Even I write a alert("hello"); in a html file, nothing come out. I am not sure what happen to my Internet Explorer. Initially I am using IE8, I try to update to IE9Beta, IE9RC, the problem start from IE8-IE9RC still haven't resolved. I am not sure what application crash with the IE. Please advice! It is Urgent.   Hi, I'm not an expert in writing shell scripts but also I'm looking for a very specific solution. OS: CentOS release 5.2 (Final) I've a Java standalone which keeps writing (all System.out.println) to a log file. For some unknown reason, this Java standalone stops working at some point of time in my server and eventually logs writing also stops working. I want to have a script which checks the last modified date & time of the log file with current date & time in the server. If the time difference exceeds more than 5 minutes, I want to send an email immediately to my recipients list. This way I'll come to know when this Java standalone has stopped working. I'll move this script to crontab and make it run for every 1 minute, so that this whole process is automated. Log file location: /usr/local/logs/standalone.log

• Need a fast programming language that can drive two printers

  I have a rather unusual application that isn't working the way I need, and I hope someone here will have some suggestions or at least a direction to investigate. We have a museum exhibit that has a computer at the entrance driving two small receipt printers. There are two buttons on a console, wired to the left and right buttons of a disemboweled mouse. The two printers and associated buttons are for girls and boys, each button does a random selection from a database of names and prints a small ticket on the appropriate printer with a graphic image, a few words about the exhibit and the randomly chosen name. Conceptually all is well, but it hangs quite often. I got the project at the last minute, because the original designer got bogged down and couldn't deliver, so the exhibit's author asked me the day before opening, whether I could write something that would work. I did it in Word, since I am an experienced VBA programmer. Several other avenues I attempted first all lead to dead ends - one couldn't do graphics, another couldn't handle two printers, yet another couldn't change fonts and so on. The problem is that it simply isn't fast enough - Word can only drive one printer at a time and changing the active printer takes a long time. Not by office standards, where a second or two of delay before a printer starts working on your document is not an issue, but here I need more or less instant response. If kids press a button and nothing happens, they press it over and over until something does happen, resulting in maybe half a dozen commands being sent before the printer starts reacting. Sometimes it jams the program completely, since boys and girls will be pressing the two buttons simultaneously and Word locks up, and even when it doesn't jam, the printers then spit out a stream of tickets, making a mess. The kids start squabbling over which ticket is whose, pulling them out of the printers, snarling the paper tape, jamming the printer and generally making a mess of the whole affair, often necessitating the exhibit caretakers having to restart the computer and clear torn bits of paper out the printers. What I need is some sort of fast programming language that can drive two printers *-simultaneously-*, not the MSOffice claptrap of having to switch the active printer, that can react to both left and right mouse button click events, can print a small graphic image and can print in different font sizes and styles and. I don't need many, but it's not all in one typeface. Can anyone suggest what I might use for this? I don't even know if it's possible at all under Windows, whether the "single active printer" garbage is an Office artifact, or a Windows restriction. My little Commodore-64 twenty-five years ago had two printers attached to it and drove both simultaneously with no difficulties - it doesn't seem to me it should be such an impossible requirement today.

• Need Help Debugging BSOD

  For the last few days I've been getting a BSOD at least once a day. Apparently the crash has been caused by ntkrpamp.exe and searching on google has revealed that the issue seems to be related to bad RAM. I have run memtest and my RAM modules have no errors on them. I'm pretty sure the issue is related to drivers, but I can't figure out which one. I'm not an expert in interpreting the output of windbg so any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Here is my analysis with WinDbg. It was too long to paste it here. One strange thing i noticed is that my Windows XP is in Spanish (SP3) and ntkrpamp.exe copyright info seems to be in portuguese. Not sure if that could be an issue, perhaps i have the wrong ntkrpamp.exe... Thanks a lot in advance

• How to setup GIT repo on server with need for working dir (non- bare)

  I want to have configurate a GIT repo for a website. Multiple users will have a clone of the repo on their local machine and on the end of each day they push their work to the server. I can setup a bare repo, but I want a working dir/non-bare repository. The idea is that the working dir of the repository will the root folder for the website. At the end of each day all changes will be visible directly. But I can't find a way to do this.   I am using the below information to auto-forward my work emails to my BB via a gmail account. The script works fine. But my work email ask's for every email to send either classifield or unclassified. What and where would I add into the below script to autoforward unclassified? I have written some VBA script to do this bypass the server's disabling of auto-forward. Basically it mimics the user forwarding the email rather than the server doing an auto-forward. • I need a reverse proxy solution for SSH

  Hi here is a situation I have a server in a corporate data center for a project. I have an SSH access to this machine at port 22.There are some virtual machines running on this server and then at the back of every thing many other Operating systems are working. Now Since I am behind the data centers firewall my supervisor asked me if I can do some thing by which I can give many people on Internet access to these virtual machines directly. I know if I were allowed to get traffic on port other than 22 then I can do a port forwarding. But since I am not allowed this so what can be a solution in this case. The people who would like to connect might be complete idiots.Who may be happy just by opening putty at their machines or may be even filezilla.I have configured an Apache Reverse Proxy for redirecting the Internet traffic to the virtual machines on these hosts.But I am not clear as for SSH what can I do.So is there some thing equivalent to an Apache Reverse Proxy which can do similar work for SSH in this situation. I do not have firewall in my hands or any port other than 22 open and in fact even if I request they wont allow to open.2 times SSH is not some thing that my supervisor wants.

• Need advice on how to set up live video streaming to web/mobile devices

  I have a bunch of live udp video streams that currently are viewed by set top boxes in my network. I would like to pick this video up (I can do this with vlc now) and stream it out to other non-STB endpoints (webpage or a phone/tablet of some sort). Right now I am able to pick up the udp stream with vlc and convert it to an http stream on port 8080 of my vlc box. Then I can use the vlc client to pick up and watch that video stream. This is where I'm not sure where to go with it. I really doubt I would want everyone who is watching the video to make a connection back to my vlc server that is doing the encoding, so how do I distribute this live video to the people who want to see it?

  We are deploying my web application in my system in jboss. And I am planning to use my system as the server as well. There are no html pages or jsp pages deployed. The client requests for resources and the server provides the resources in the form of objects. We are also using databases(Postgresql-15 tables) as the database server(this will also reside in my machine). My system configuration is Windows Vista, 2.3 GHZ, 4GB Ram, 32 bit. There can be many requests coming in at the same time. So is this configuration enough? Should we go with a different Operating System like Windows Server? I have never used Windows Server OS. How will it be different from other windows operating systems? Or if you feel please some other OS will be good in this situation, please suggest.

• Need to open port in a router for two internal PC's

  I have two PC's behind a comon internet router and one service running in another network that needs to connect with both PC's through internet using a specific port. To avoid dynamic IP issues I have configured NO-IP accounts in both computers and opened the port in their respective Windows Firewalls. My problem is that when I open the port in the router it only allows me to assign it to one of the computers, but not to both of them. Is there any solution to this?

EventID: 0x000016AF During the past 4.12 hours there have been 216 connections to this Domain Controller from client machines whose IP addresses don't map to any of the existing sites in the enterprise. <...> The log(s) may contain additional unrelated debugging information. To filter out the needed information, please search for lines which contain text 'NO_CLIENT_SITE:'. The first word after this string is the client name and the second word is the client IP address.
