  • CodeIgniter won't run in a subdirectory

    - by Tim Piele
I have a CodeIgniter install running in our root web directory that I copied into a subdirectory called /dev... I edited the config/config.php file to reflect the change so it is now like this: $config['base_url'] = 'http://mysite.com/dev'; $config['sbase_url'] = 'https://mysite.com/dev'; $config['default_email'] = '[email protected]'; $config['site_url'] = 'http://mysite.com/dev'; This is my .htaccess file: <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php/$1 [L] </IfModule> When I hover over any links on the site they are correct, for example the contact us page link reads www.mysite.com/dev/contact but when I click any of the links I get a 404 error... Is there something common I am missing?

  • Is it possible to create a link that acts like a button and can carry out a function when clicked?

    - by Tim
In PHP, I want to execute a function when a hyperlink is clicked. The only way I can think of doing this is by having the link attach a get parameter to the url when clicked and by doing an if statement that checks to see if that parameter exists and if so then have the function executed. But is there a way to do this like: <a href='#' onclick='<?php functionName(); ?>'> Obviously there are a million things wrong with this example but is it possible in any other way?

  • Which regex flavors support captures (as opposed to capturing groups)?

    - by Tim Pietzcker
As I just learned from this question, .NET regexes can access individual matches within a repeated capturing group. I. e., if I apply a regex like \b(\w+\s*)+ to a string of words, only the last word will be stored in \1 or Match.Groups(1).Value, but using Match.Groups(1).Captures I get access to all the individual matches the regex iterated over. Are there other regex flavors that support this besides .NET?

  • sequencing function calls in javascript - are callbacks the only way?

    - by tim
I read through various threads like this one for example. But it really escapes me how to accomplish the following: I have 4 functions, and want them happen one after another in sequence. Notice they are in incorrect order, to get my point across. I want the result that will output "1, 2, 3, 4' function firstFunction(){ // some very time consuming asynchronous code... console.log('1'); } function thirdFunction(){ // definitely dont wanna do this until secondFunction is finished console.log('3'); } function secondFunction(){ // waits for firstFunction to be completed console.log('2'); } function fourthFunction(){ // last function, not executed until the other 3 are done. console.log('4'); } I tried to figure out callbacks but am getting lost :( Isn't there some simple way to do this? Like looping through an array...

  • PowerPoint Paste HTML Loss of Color [closed]

    - by Tim
I am trying to paste HTML into powerpoint 2007. Everything works ok except that I lose the color of the text and the font. I am using the paste special method selecting html. Now I have read that some people have fixed the color loss problem by setting a color printer as their default. But that does not seem to be working for me nor would it fix the font. Thank you for any help.

  • SQL SERVER – Introduction to Extended Events – Finding Long Running Queries

    - by pinaldave
The job of an SQL Consultant is very interesting as always. The month before, I was busy doing query optimization and performance tuning projects for our clients, and this month, I am busy delivering my performance in Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008 Query Optimization and & Performance Tuning Course. I recently read white paper about Extended Event by SQL Server MVP Jonathan Kehayias. You can read the white paper here: Using SQL Server 2008 Extended Events. I also read another appealing chapter by Jonathan in the book, SQLAuthority Book Review – Professional SQL Server 2008 Internals and Troubleshooting. After reading these excellent notes by Jonathan, I decided to upgrade my course and include Extended Event as one of the modules. This week, I have delivered Extended Events session two times and attendees really liked the said course. They really think Extended Events is one of the most powerful tools available. Extended Events can do many things. I suggest that you read the white paper I mentioned to learn more about this tool. Instead of writing a long theory, I am going to write a very quick script for Extended Events. This event session captures all the longest running queries ever since the event session was started. One of the many advantages of the Extended Events is that it can be configured very easily and it is a robust method to collect necessary information in terms of troubleshooting. There are many targets where you can store the information, which include XML file target, which I really like. In the following Events, we are writing the details of the event at two locations: 1) Ringer Buffer; and 2) XML file. It is not necessary to write at both places, either of the two will do. -- Extended Event for finding *long running query* IF EXISTS(SELECT * FROM sys.server_event_sessions WHERE name='LongRunningQuery') DROP EVENT SESSION LongRunningQuery ON SERVER GO -- Create Event CREATE EVENT SESSION LongRunningQuery ON SERVER -- Add event to capture event ADD EVENT sqlserver.sql_statement_completed ( -- Add action - event property ACTION (sqlserver.sql_text, sqlserver.tsql_stack) -- Predicate - time 1000 milisecond WHERE sqlserver.sql_statement_completed.duration > 1000 ) -- Add target for capturing the data - XML File ADD TARGET package0.asynchronous_file_target( SET filename='c:\LongRunningQuery.xet', metadatafile='c:\LongRunningQuery.xem'), -- Add target for capturing the data - Ring Bugger ADD TARGET package0.ring_buffer (SET max_memory = 4096) WITH (max_dispatch_latency = 1 seconds) GO -- Enable Event ALTER EVENT SESSION LongRunningQuery ON SERVER STATE=START GO -- Run long query (longer than 1000 ms) SELECT * FROM AdventureWorks.Sales.SalesOrderDetail ORDER BY UnitPriceDiscount DESC GO -- Stop the event ALTER EVENT SESSION LongRunningQuery ON SERVER STATE=STOP GO -- Read the data from Ring Buffer SELECT CAST(dt.target_data AS XML) AS xmlLockData FROM sys.dm_xe_session_targets dt JOIN sys.dm_xe_sessions ds ON ds.Address = dt.event_session_address JOIN sys.server_event_sessions ss ON ds.Name = ss.Name WHERE dt.target_name = 'ring_buffer' AND ds.Name = 'LongRunningQuery' GO -- Read the data from XML File SELECT event_data_XML.value('(event/data[1])[1]','VARCHAR(100)') AS Database_ID, event_data_XML.value('(event/data[2])[1]','INT') AS OBJECT_ID, event_data_XML.value('(event/data[3])[1]','INT') AS object_type, event_data_XML.value('(event/data[4])[1]','INT') AS cpu, event_data_XML.value('(event/data[5])[1]','INT') AS duration, event_data_XML.value('(event/data[6])[1]','INT') AS reads, event_data_XML.value('(event/data[7])[1]','INT') AS writes, event_data_XML.value('(event/action[1])[1]','VARCHAR(512)') AS sql_text, event_data_XML.value('(event/action[2])[1]','VARCHAR(512)') AS tsql_stack, CAST(event_data_XML.value('(event/action[2])[1]','VARCHAR(512)') AS XML).value('(frame/@handle)[1]','VARCHAR(50)') AS handle FROM ( SELECT CAST(event_data AS XML) event_data_XML, * FROM sys.fn_xe_file_target_read_file ('c:\LongRunningQuery*.xet', 'c:\LongRunningQuery*.xem', NULL, NULL)) T GO -- Clean up. Drop the event DROP EVENT SESSION LongRunningQuery ON SERVER GO Just run the above query, afterwards you will find following result set. This result set contains the query that was running over 1000 ms. In our example, I used the XML file, and it does not reset when SQL services or computers restarts (if you are using DMV, it will reset when SQL services restarts). This event session can be very helpful for troubleshooting. Let me know if you want me to write more about Extended Events. I am totally fascinated with this feature, so I’m planning to acquire more knowledge about it so I can determine its other usages. • Manipulating columns of numbers in elisp

    - by ~unutbu
    I have text files with tables like this: Investment advisory and related fees receivable (161,570 ) (71,739 ) (73,135 ) Net purchases of trading investments (93,261 ) (30,701 ) (11,018 ) Other receivables 61,216 (10,352 ) (69,313 ) Restricted cash 20,658 (20,658 ) - Other current assets (39,643 ) 14,752 64 Other non-current assets 71,896 (26,639 ) (26,330 ) Since these are accounting numbers, parenthesized numbers indicate negative numbers. Dashes represent 0 or no number. I'd like to be able to mark a rectangular region such as third column above, call a function (format-column), and automatically have (-73135-11018-69313+64-26330)/1000 sitting in my kill-ring. Even better would be -73.135-11.018-69.313+0.064-26.330 but I couldn't figure out a way to transform 64 -- 0.064. This is what I've come up with: (defun format-column () "format accounting numbers in a rectangular column. format-column puts the result in the kill-ring" (interactive) (let ((p (point)) (m (mark)) ) (copy-rectangle-to-register 0 (min m p) (max m p) nil) (with-temp-buffer (insert-register 0) (goto-char (point-min)) (while (search-forward "-" nil t) (replace-match "" nil t)) (goto-char (point-min)) (while (search-forward "," nil t) (replace-match "" nil t)) (goto-char (point-min)) (while (search-forward ")" nil t) (replace-match "" nil t)) (goto-char (point-min)) (while (search-forward "(" nil t) (replace-match "-" nil t) (just-one-space) (delete-backward-char 1) ) (goto-char (point-min)) (while (search-forward "\n" nil t) (replace-match " " nil t)) (goto-char (point-min)) (kill-new (mapconcat 'identity (split-string (buffer-substring (point-min) (point-max))) "+")) (kill-region (point-min) (point-max)) (insert "(") (yank 2) (goto-char (point-min)) (while (search-forward "+-" nil t) (replace-match "-" nil t)) (goto-char (point-max)) (insert ")/1000") (kill-region (point-min) (point-max)) ) ) ) (global-set-key "\C-c\C-f" 'format-column) Although it seems to work, I'm sure this function is poorly coded. The repetitive calls to goto-char, search-forward, and replace-match and the switching from buffer to string and back to buffer seems ugly and inelegant. My entire approach may be wrong-headed, but I don't know enough elisp to make this more beautiful. Do you see a better way to write format-column, and/or could you make suggestions on how to improve this code?

  • AudioFileWriteBytes fails with error code -40

    - by alexbw
    I'm trying to write raw audio bytes to a file using AudioFileWriteBytes(). Here's what I'm doing: void writeSingleChannelRingBufferDataToFileAsSInt16(AudioFileID audioFileID, AudioConverterRef audioConverter, ringBuffer *rb, SInt16 *holdingBuffer) { // First, figure out which bits of audio we'll be // writing to file from the ring buffer UInt32 lastFreshSample = rb->lastWrittenIndex; OSStatus status; int numSamplesToWrite; UInt32 numBytesToWrite; if (lastFreshSample < rb->lastReadIndex) { numSamplesToWrite = kNumPointsInWave + lastFreshSample - rb->lastReadIndex - 1; } else { numSamplesToWrite = lastFreshSample - rb->lastReadIndex; } numBytesToWrite = numSamplesToWrite*sizeof(SInt16); Then we copy the audio data (stored as floats) to a holding buffer (SInt16) that will be written directly to the file. The copying looks funky because it's from a ring buffer. UInt32 buffLen = rb->sizeOfBuffer - 1; for (int i=0; i < numSamplesToWrite; ++i) { holdingBuffer[i] = rb->data[(i + rb->lastReadIndex) & buffLen]; } Okay, now we actually try to write the audio from the SInt16 buffer "holdingBuffer" to the audio file. The NSLog will spit out an error -40, but also claims that it's writing bytes. No data is written to file. status = AudioFileWriteBytes(audioFileID, NO, 0, &numBytesToWrite, &holdingBuffer); rb->lastReadIndex = lastFreshSample; NSLog(@"Error = %d, wrote %d bytes", status, numBytesToWrite); return;

  • Writing/Reading struct w/ dynamic array through pipe in C

    - by anrui
I have a struct with a dynamic array inside of it: struct mystruct{ int count; int *arr; }mystruct_t; and I want to pass this struct down a pipe in C and around a ring of processes. When I alter the value of count in each process, it is changed correctly. My problem is with the dynamic array. I am allocating the array as such: mystruct_t x; x.arr = malloc( howManyItemsDoINeedToStore * sizeof( int ) ); Each process should read from the pipe, do something to that array, and then write it to another pipe. The ring is set up correctly; there's no problem there. My problem is that all of the processes, except the first one, are not getting a correct copy of the array. I initialize all of the values to, say, 10 in the first process; however, they all show up as 0 in the subsequent ones. for( j = 0; j < howManyItemsDoINeedToStore; j++ ){ x.arr[j] = 10; } Initally: 10 10 10 10 10 After Proc 1: 9 10 10 10 15 After Proc 2: 0 0 0 0 0 After Proc 3: 0 0 0 0 0 After Proc 4: 0 0 0 0 0 After Proc 5: 0 0 0 0 0 After Proc 1: 9 10 10 10 15 After Proc 2: 0 0 0 0 0 After Proc 3: 0 0 0 0 0 After Proc 4: 0 0 0 0 0 After Proc 5: 0 0 0 0 0 Now, if I alter my code to, say, struct mystruct{ int count; int arr[10]; }mystruct_t; everything is passed correctly down the pipe, no problem. I am using READ and WRITE, in C: write( STDOUT_FILENO, &x, sizeof( mystruct_t ) ); read( STDIN_FILENO, &x, sizeof( mystruct_t ) ); Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  • Get a user's current IP address from Skype

    - by Jonathan.
This is assuming that you (/police/ISP) can get the [rough] location of a laptop based on IP address. If your laptop is stolen, and the thief unwittingly connects it to the Internet, and you have Skype on the laptop could you get the public IP address of the laptop and then go to the police and get it tracked? Or activate the webcam to see the surroundings, but without having Skype ring/notify the user?

  • Is there a client for Google Talk, for Mac, that allows phone calls?

    - by xtraorange
I'm having no luck finding a client for Google Talk that is both for Mac (OSX) and that allows phone calls (not just chatting with other Google Talk users). If I leave the browser page open to gmail, it will ring when I receive a call to my Google Voice number, and I can call out from my Google Voice number, but I don't want to use the browser. Is there any sort of client, for Mac, that will allow calls through Google Talk?

  • Is there any automatic tool to remove edges from an image that has been anti-aliased onto a white ba

    - by Macha
I have a few images that have been anti-aliased onto a white background that I want to put on a transparent background. Just selecting it with the -wand tool/fuzzy select tool/select your terminology of choice- and deleting the background tends to leave a ring of off-white pixels around the image, or eat into the image depending on the tolerance setting. Is there some better way to do this, preferably an automatic tool? (I'm on Linux)

  • Small (Micro) 16GB USB flash drive

    - by cust0s
I'm looking for a small 16GB USB flash drive, that's good looking, will stand the test of time and can be attached to a key ring. I don't want extra software (like that found on the SanDisk Micro Cruzer) and it needs to be compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux. Also, I'd rather pay a bit more than buying a cheap flash drive and then it crapping out on me.

  • Silverlight Firestarter thoughts, and thanks to one and all!

So I'm just going to hit the highlights here... Scott Guthrie Thanks for not only being the level you are at Microsoft, but for being so approachable, easy to talk to, willing to help everyone, and above all knowledgable. My first level manager at my last position asked if Visual Studio was a graphics program... and you step up to a laptop at a conference and type "File->New Program" ... 'nuff said... oh yeah, thanks for the shoutout! John Papa Thanks for being a good friend, ramroding the Firestarter, being a great guy to be around, and for the poster... holy crap is that cool. Tim Heuer Thanks for all you did as a great DE in Phoenix, and for helping out so many of us, of course being a great guy, and for the poster as well... I think you and John shared that task. In no order at all my buddy Michael Washington, Laurent Bugnion (the other half of the first Silverlight MVP of the Year) Tim Sneath, Mike Harsh, Chad Campbell and Bryant Likes (from back in the day), Adam Kinney, Jesse Liberty, Jeff Paries, Pete Brown, András Velvárt, David Kelly, Michael Palermo, Scott Cate, Erik Mork, and on and on... don't feel bad if your name didn't appear, I have simply too many supporters to name. Silverlight Firestarter Indeed All the people mentioned here, and all the MVPs knew Silverlight was NOT dead, but because of a very unfortunate circumstance, the popular media opinion became that. Consequently the Firestarter exploded from a laid-back event to a global conference. People worked their ass off getting bits ready and presentations using those bits. All to stem the flow of misinformation. All involved please accept my personal thanks for an absolutely awesome job. I had the priviledge of watching the 'prep' on Wednesday afternoon, and was blown away the first time I saw the 3D demo... and have been blown away every time I've seen it since. Not to mention all the other goodness in Silverlight 5. Yes I hit 1000 on my blog, but more importantly, all of you are blogging and using Silverlight, and Microsoft hit one completely out of the park... no... they knocked it out of the neighborhood with the Firestarter. It was amazing to be there for it, and it will be awesome to use the new bits as we get them. Keep reading, there's tons more to come with Silverlight and SilverlightCream following along behind. As usual, this old hacker is humbled to be allowed to play with all the cool kids... Thanks one and all for everything, and Stay in the 'Light
