• I have some basic questions setting up a PHP daemon

  I will be writing my first daemon in php and I have a couple really basic questions that I need help with. 1) What packages need to be installed on my linux server and Does anything in PHP need to be enabled? So far I have gotten this - http://pear.php.net/package/System_Daemon/download 2) Where on server do I save my daemon files? 3) I have a number of files that need to be included within the daemon that contain classes and functions for gathering emails and attachments through IMAP. All of these files are currently in my web public directory, how do I include these files within my daemon? I think that is everything I need to get started. Thanks so much!

• Why can't my C# app create files in Windows 7?

  I have a C# app that creates a settings file for itself to store the current state of certain visual elements. This app works just fine on any machine that isn't running Windows 7, but on those machines we get an error that the settings file can't be created because the user doesn't have permission. Now, I could fix this issue by going to each computer, logging in as the administrator and giving the user read and write access on the program folder for the application that we've installed, but there has to be a better way. It seems like in XP, you got write access on the folders you created by default, but that isn't the case anymore. Is there a setting I need in the setup package to make this work?

• Using Google's Contacts API's, how can I get the user's name and gmail address?

  I know how to get the entire contacts list using Google Contacts API (I get a session token and use Google's Zend package for PHP). But how can I get the person's name and email address? Currently, the Contacts API just seems to give all of the contacts. I'm not sure how to distinguish which email and name out of that list corresponds to the user's account. Is there an easy way to get the user's full name and email address? Any help would be useful. Thanks!

  Hi, Is it possible to paqckage multiple rpms into one file. I have got two bundles one of which requires that the other be installed. I would like to create a single installable out of them in such a way that this installer will first invoke pkg 1 and then install pkg 2. Is this possible? What about deb packages? Sorry if it a basic question. I have not worked with installers on Linux before. I have created Windows installers. There you can create two merge modules (.msm) and package them into a standalone installer (.msi) and specify the order of execution. I am looking for similar functionality on Linux.

  I'm looking for a way to include a few additional strings in output .java files generated from antlr. Is there a comprehensive listing of available directives? • How do I replace "this" in Java with something that works.

  I'm looking to get the showGUI() method work, the compiler says "this" is not a static variable and cannot be referenced from a static context, what would I use to replace "this"? I've tried test.main (test being the package it's in). The reason I'm using the static method showGUI() is because I need the method to be called from another static method, as well as the startup() method.   Many questions here on SO ask about custom classes. I, on the other hand, have no idea what they're talking about. "Custom class" seems to mean the same thing I mean when I say "class". What did I miss, back in the '80s, that keeps me from understanding? I know that it's possible to purchase a packaged system - for Accounting, ERP, or something like that. You can then customize it, or add "custom code" to make the package do things that are specific to your business. But that doesn't describe the process used in writing a .NET program. In this case, the entire purpose of the .NET Framework is to allow us to write our own code. There is nothing useful out of the box.

  In reference to the statement set.seed(), can I get the seed instead after running some code if I didn't set it explicitly? I've been re-running some code containing a function that randomises some sample of the input data (the function is part of the kohonen package). After playing with it for some time to see the variety of output (it was an 'unstable' problem), I noticed one result that was pretty interesting. I of course had not used set.seed(), but wondered if I could get the seed after running the code to reproduce the result? In ?set.seed I see .Random.seed saves the seed set for the uniform random-number generator But I don't know how that helps.

  Hello, Here's the deal. I'm just starting with Java programming, I've made a simple application that uses SWT graphic library and I want to deploy it on a Mac (running the latest version of MacOS X). I did all the programming in my Windows 7 machine, so here are my questions: Q1) Can I make an executable file for MacOS X from my Windows machine? How? (I saw that it's possible to create .exe files on Windows, instead of using .jar; I want to do the same for the Mac, of course it won't be an .exe) Q2) If I export my project in Eclipse and I choose Runnable JAR File and then on Library Handling I pick Extract required libraries into generated JAR or Package required libraries into generated JAR I end up with a huge .JAR (about 15MB of size, my application consist in just a button on a Window and a tiny method that doesn't do much). I tried creating new avd also.But i am getting the same error. I want all those png and audio files. I dont want to store them in sdcard. Please Suggest me how to solve this problem. • Is there a way to automatically update application on Android?

  Hi, I'm developing an application that will most likely be preinstalled on devices. It will be also available on Market. Is there a way to update those instances that are not downloaded through Market, since Market won't notify users about an update. I was thinking about, as suggested here, trying to contact my site periodically, and when update is available, download it. I'm wondering if there is a way to do this update automatically, so that user doesn't have to do anything (like running the package manually). Or, when my site shows update is available, to offer users an update through Market, even though it's not installed through Market. Thanks!

Loops works too. With this i can send pretty much anything, like package of users id, if it is simple data. But soon i will start sending whole files, maybe xml or executables. Simple server with files is no an option because i want sending files from client too. I was thinking about serialization but i don't know it is the best solution, but if it is i will love some tips from stackoverflow community. EDIT: I added django to question and chose using http.

• Apache crashes after installing mysqli

  System: Apache 2.2 running on Windows 2008 Server with PHP 5.2.17 VC6 Thread-Safe as a Module and MySQL 5.5.17 - all working fine. After installing mysqli using the php package, Apache won't start anymore. There is no error message in the log. What I have tried: Make sure Windows PATH points to libmysql.dll: Yes, done. Make sure extension_dir points to the right point: Yes. Other extensions load fine. Try without mysqli: Yes, Apache loads fine then. Try without mysql: Yes, does not help. Test mysql itself: Restarts server! Overwrite libmysql: Yes, does not help. It seems to me that there is some general problem with MySql, but the DB server seems to be running fine. I'm really out of ideas of things I could try, so I'm desperate for any hints or tricks.

This would cause collisions with other versions of servlet API pulled via Maven dependencies: webapp classpath will likely contain version which is bundled with GWT; container may refuse to load the GWT jar as it contains the javax.servlet package; in most cases this will likely deviate classpaths across your IDE's debugger and the really executing VM. • Installing Qt libraries on OS X

  I'm trying to install the Qt 4.8.3 precompiled libraries downloaded from http://qt-project.org/downloads on my OS X 10.6 machine. Unfortunately the package doesn't seem to actually install any libraries (although it claims to do so in the readme) I've read loads of instructions of how to configure and build Qt from source but these are precompiled, as in 'you don't have to compile them yourself'. So I must be missing something. Is there anyone out there who knows how to actually install Qt on OS X so that it is possible to link against them -without- building the whole thing from source.   Ok so I'm developing a WPF application that makes heavy use of SQL Server. I've been asked to create an installer package that checks whether the client already has SQL Server Express 2005 already installed, his operating system (64bit Vs x86) and install the required SQL Server instance if needed. I'm then required to automatically map my App.config's connection string to the SQL Server's connection string and run a script to create my database. Do I just: Put the argparse.py file along with my project. That is, in the tar file for my project. Create a package for it for my distro? Tell the user to install it himself?   I have a Voip based app. So i thought of customizing SipDroid open source project. As the starting phase i have changed all the package names, Class names etc. It perfectly works on my Samsung Galaxy Y. But i tried with many other mobiles, Voice is not audible. Call is being initialized but could not hear voice. In Samsung galaxy young, voice is clearly audible for both incoming and outgoing calls. But in all the other phones i have tested i can hear only beep sounds. What could be the problem? I tried calling the other mobile(that has Sip Droid) with my Samsung Galaxy Young(customized app) I could hear voice in my app but could not hear in Sipdroid. But when i tried calling Sipdroid to Sipdroid, it works fine in all the mobiles.

• VS2010 (older) installer project - two or more objects have the same target location.

  This installer project was created back in 2004 and upgraded ever since. There are two offending dll files, which produce a total of 4 errors. I have searched online for this warning message and did not find a permanent fix (I did manage to make it go away once until I have done something like a clean, or built in Release, and then in Debug). I also tried cleaning, and then refreshing the dependencies. The duplicated entries are still in there. I also did not find a good explanation for what this error means. Additional warnings are of this nature: Warning 36 The version of the .NET Framework launch condition '.NET Framework 4' does not match the selected .NET Framework bootstrapper package. Update the .NET Framework launch condition to match the version of the .NET Framework selected in the Prerequisites Dialog Box. So, where is this prerequisites box? I want to make both things agree on .Net 4.0, just having a hard time locating both of them.
