  • Default js included in Rails

    When creating a new Rails application, it is automatically supplied with several quite large js files. In the application layout, by default, all of them are loaded into the page: <%= javascript_include_tag :defaults %> I was wondering, isn't loading all those javascripts can make the site possibly mush slower? And if so, where can I change the definition of :defaults? Or should I just include the ones I need and remove the code line mentioned above? Thank you

    I've been following this how-to in the Devise wiki... How To: Allow users to edit their account without providing a password ...to enable my users to change the account credential and update without providing their existing password. However, I also want to use the Confirmable modules reconfirmable functionality Even though I have config.reconfirmable = true set in my devise initializer file the controller doesn't seem to be sending the reconfirmable emails. Any ideas what's wrong?

You can't do a decorate design pattern if: 1) The object is marked "sealed" meaning you can't extend from it. 2) or you want to override a method but its not virtual. What can you do then? Taken that you can't change the class source code if you don't have the source code (like a 3rd party library).

    Hi, Is there a way to disable time and date editing on a Windows Mobile device (via APIs or the registry)? I have an application using the time and date of a Windows Mobile PDA and I don't want the user to change it (the time and date) - unless - he/she has some kind of administrative rights.   • Do not fire 'zoom_changed' event when calling fitBounds function on map

    Is there a way to prevent the zoom_change event from being triggered if it occurs due to fitBounds() ? I am having an issue where I need to do a search on the server from client when there is a zoom change to map but every time I call fitBounds() it causes zoom_change to trigger which causes the client to do another search on the server. I am only interested in zoom_change done by users and not programmatically using fitBounds.

    I have a childwindow with a number of Textboxes, Comboboxes, and DatePickers. I want to know if a user has changed any value in these (to know if I need to save to db) One way I could think of doing this are in the 'on chg' event handlers and set bool. But if a user changes the value, in say a combobox, then changes back to the original this would still be seen as a change. Are there other alternatives? (note the project is not set up as MVVM) Thanks

    I was under the impression that the open id for a user remains constant. I am allowing users to setup open id with my site with 2 different screens in my app... I was under the impression that the open id for a user is constant and will not change and I was planning to save it to my database for a given user, However, to my suprise, I found different ids for the same user using the same google account in the two different screens. How does open id actually work ?

    Is it possible to set a default behaviour for custom (non-native) methods/functions in Java? For example, I would like to change the default "Function" to do a System.out.println("message") whenever called. So, when a custom method/function is being created: public String testMethod() { //custom code } it should execute the newly added default behaviour (in this case the system output), before the custom code is run. Even if this would be a bad excercise, is it possible? Maybe by extending the function class or something?

The DN for the group that I have been given contains a space in the OU: CN=CommunityUsers,OU=Distribution Groups,DC=TLD,DC=AD Drupal is authenticating if there is no space, but under no circumstances can I have the space removed. Can I change the way I specify the DN?

A more general question is if event lifecycle of ASP.Net page guarantees that each event is fired only after previous has returned or events can be fired while previous is still executing? How does answer change if previous event fires some custom event such as DataBound? Can such event be executed in parallel with another event in page lifecycle?

  • invalid postback event instead of dropdown to datagrid

    I faced with funny situation. I created a page which is having some value, I set these value and control my post back event also. The problem is happening when I change a component index(ex reselect a combobox which is not inside my datagrid) then I dont know why without my page call the Page_Load it goes to create a new row in grid function and all of my parameter are null! I am just receiving null exception. So in other word I try to explain the situation: when I load my page I am initializing some parameter. then everything is working fine. in my page when I change selected item of my combo box, page suppose to go and run function related to that combo box, and call page_load, but it is not going there and it goes to rowcreated function. I am trying to illustrate part of my page.     Is there a way to go through different commits on a file. Say I modified a file 5 times and I want to go back to change 2, after I already committed and pushed to a repository. In my understanding the only way is to keep many branches, have I got that right? If I'm right I'm gonna have hundreds of branches in a few days, so I'm probably not understanding it really.   • view-port resize vs document resize in IE

    window.resize event in IE doesnt do what i thought it does. I thought it only triggered when the physical window/view-port changed size (ie user hits maximize on the browser window for example), but it is also triggered if i change the document size, introducing scroll bars. is there any way to tell those two things apart: view port resize, and document resize without writing an elaborate hack?
