  I am writing game in XNA 4 and this version have two profiles hi-def and reach. My problem is that I need to have my game code for each of these profiles and is very uncomfortable to have two projects and do all changes in both of them. My idea was to use preprocessor directive (i am not sure about name of this, http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ed8yd1ha%28v=vs.71%29.aspx) and use IF statement at places with problems with profile. There is only problem that program needs to be compiled two times (for each profile) and manually changed directive and project settings to another profile. And my questions are: Is that good way? Is there better and cleaner way how to do this?

I have listed the company in Google Business so it shows in the SERP and I have a Facebook and Twitter account linked, that I update regularly. I know keeping content fresh is important but nothing much changes so I am unsure what options I have? Should I create a blog and talk about the cars, weddings etc?   I could use some help troubleshooting choppy streaming audio. The problem is jerky playback regardless of audio or video with audio. Both Chromium and Firefox have the problem, however files played directly on the machine with Rhythmbox sound just fine. I'm running 12.04 LTS on a C2D T9300.   I use Xubuntu 12.04. I uninstalled Firefox and now use Google Chrome version 19.xxx. To solve this problem, I tried: galternatives the "default apps" under settings and sudo update-alternatives --config x-www-browser Neither of these worked. Does anybody have an alternative solution for this? -- Solution: I used the "sudo gedit /usr/share/applications/defaults.list" tip from ??? and searched for firefox in the whole document! Everytime I found "firefox" I replaced it with "google-chrome.desktop". I also used the "default apps" menu to change it to google-chrome. And now it works.. I hope it helps some other ;-)

  Some developing environment/languages save the source code you write in a binary/propietary format that you cannot see or edit with a generic text editor. I'm not talking about compiled code, but the source code. An example could be PowerBuilder and Oracle Forms. It's ok you use proprietary technology if you want, but not being able to open the source code you wrote, in a simple editor, if only to read it, seems like a very strict form of vendor lock-in. Also this prevents you from using text-based version controls that can show you the difference between two versions in a line-by-line base. If the code is plain text, you don't need a license in order to just open it, see it and learn from it. Should it be a golden rule to avoid vendor lock-in to avoid technologies that save your source code to anything but plain text files ?

• Installing multiple ubuntu partitions on same machine without corrupting GRUB

  I had only ubuntu installed on my pc, but I felt like adding another ubuntu (same version) partition so I could have one just for work/study and another one just for personal generic use. I installed it and it worked out okay, but I found I needed more space on the new created Ubuntu partition, so I booted up from the Live CD, and used GParted to move/shrink/grow the partitions as the Ubuntu's tutorials suggested it was pretty straightforward. But in doing all this I messed up with Grub, so when I start my system it shows: error: unknow filesystem grub rescue What would be the easiest way to recover it so I could have both partitions working? Btw, it wouldn't be a problem for me to lose the partitions if it's the shortest/easiest way. Thanks in advance.

• How can I get gcc to write a file larger than 2.0 GB?

  I wanted to recompile 'xxd' (written in C), so I installed CodeBlocks as the IDE. All seemed to go well unil I discovered that I couldn't write past the 2.0 GB barrier... I've read that 'gcc' needs to be recompiled... (That sounds a bit dramatic..) I've read that I can use 'fread64()' instead of 'fread()' ... (didn't work) I've read something about a compiler options (?)... but I get lost at that point? I am surprised that it didn't work out-of-the-box, as I thought the 2.0 GB limit was ancient history as far as defaults go ... wrong again?:( My OS is 32-bit, on 32-bit hardware. The gcc version report in as: gcc (Ubuntu 4.4.3-4ubuntu5) 4.4.3 Is there a simple way around this issue? PS.. I was fascinated by the WARNINGS: section of 'info xxd' (..only on Linux ;)

  I've downloadad the latest XAMPP file, to install it into Ubuntu 13.04. After downloading the file, I just can run it. I've double click it (and I've tried right click and clicking "open", whith the same result). All the answer I get is this message: Could not display “xampp-linux-1.8.3-1-installer.run”. There is no application installed for “executable” files. Do you want to search for an application to open this file? I've tried searching for an application, with no result... Also, I haven't found any questions related to this issue with the 13.04 Unity version... I've tried this solution, with no result. Please note that this isn't a Xampp question, the same happened to me when I tried to install Skype. UPDATE: I've tried this solution: cd ~/Downloads chmod +x myfile.run sudo sh myfile.run And I've got this error: Syntax error: "(" unexpected What should I do? Thanks!

What I cannot find anywhere that says is this is enough to say my code is licensed (the case of open-source). Is something more required?

I have made a mess of a few workspaces by accidentally opening them in the wrong version of Eclipse. To thwart my own forgetfulness, I went seeking a way to launch directly to a workspace and found it at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/209789/starting-eclipse-w-specific-workspace. Essentially, add the -data switch to your icon's open command, such as: C:\eclipse\eclipse.exe -data E:\MyData\Clients\Confidential\EclipseGCDPGive it a unique name and stick it on your Start Menu (C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu). Makes my life a bit easier and hopefully yours, too.
