• Weird onclick behavior of images on home screen widget

  I wrote a home screen widget with one image on it. When the image is clicked, browser will be opened for a url link. Generally, it is working. But a weird thing is that, when I click background, then click the picture, the browser will not be open. Until I click the second time on the picture, the browser opens. The steps to reproduce is below: Click on the home screen widget background. Click on the image on the home screen. The browser is not opened. Click on the image again. The browser is opened. If I didn't click on the background, the image will react to click very well, i.e. browser will be open when the image is clicked the first time.   Is it correct that I can put context:annotation-config in my XML config and it will automatically inject the bean class without needing any annotations? • Why is my searchable activity's Intent.getAction() null?

  I've followed the SearchManager documentation yet am still having trouble making one of my app's activities searchable. The "NI" lines are getIntent().toString(), getIntent().getAction(), and getIntent().hasExtra(SearchManager.QUERY) respectively. ActivityManager appears to be starting my activity with the correct action. Then when my activity starts, it contains no action!? What am I doing wrong? • Serialized NHibernate Configuration objects - detect out of date or rebuild on demand?

  I've been using serialized nhibernate configuration objects (also discussed here and here) to speed up my application startup from about 8s to 1s. I also use fluent-nhibernate, so the path is more like ClassMap class definitions in code fluentconfiguration xml nhibernate configuration configuration serialized to disk. The problem from doing this is that one runs the risk of out of date mappings - if I change the mappings but forget to rebuild the serialized configuration, then I end up using the old mappings without realising it. This does not always result in an immediate and obvious error during testing, and several times the misbehaviour has been a real pain to detect and fix. Does anybody have any idea how I would be able to detect if my classmaps have changed, so that I could either issue an immediate warning/error or rebuild it on demand? At the moment I am comparing timestamps on my compiled assembly against the serialized configuration. This will pickup mapping changes, but unfortunately it generates a massive false positive rate as ANY change to the code results in an out of date flag. I can't move the classmaps to another assembly as they are tightly integrated into the business logic. This has been niggling me for a while so I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions?

• Android depth buffer issue: Advice for anyone experiencing problem

  I've wasted around 30 hours this week writing and re-writing code, believing that I had misunderstood how the OpenGL depth buffer works. Everything I tried, failed. I have now resolved my problem by finding what may be an error in the Android implementation of OpenGL. See this API entry: http://www.opengl.org/sdk/docs/man/xhtml/glClearDepth.xml void glClearDepth(GLclampd depth); Specifies the depth value used when the depth buffer is cleared. The initial value is 1. Android's implementation has two versions of this command: glClearDepthx which takes an integer value, clamped 0-1 glClearDepthf which takes a floating point value, clamped 0-1 If you use glClearDepthf(1) then you get the results you would expect. If you use glClearDepthx(1), as I was doing then you get different results. (Note that 1 is the default value, but calling the command with the argument 1 produces different results than not calling it at all.) Quite what is happening I do not know, but the depth buffer was being cleared to a value different from what I had specified.

• Duplicate Symbol Linker Error (C++ help)

  Hi. I'm learning some CSP (constraint satisfaction) theory stuff right now, and am using this library to parse XML files. I'm using Xcode as an IDE. My program compiles fine, but when it goes to link the files, I get a duplicate symbol error with the XMLParser_libxml2.hh file. My files are separated as such: A class header file that includes the XMLParser file above A class implementation file that include the class header file A main file that includes the class header file The duplicate symbol is occurring in main.o and classfile.o, but as far as I can tell, I'm not actually adding that .hh file twice. Full error: ld: duplicate symbol bool CSPXMLParser::UTF8String::to<std::basic_string<char, std::char_traits<char>, std::allocator<char> > >(std::basic_string<char, std::char_traits<char>, std::allocator<char> >&) constin /Users/vash265/CSP/Untitled/build/Untitled.build/Debug/Untitled.build/Objects-normal/x86_64/dStructFill.o and /Users/vash265/CSP/Untitled/build/Untitled.build/Debug/Untitled.build/Objects-normal/x86_64/main.o Copying the implementation of the class into the main file and taking the class implementation file out of the compilation target alleviates the error, but it's a disorganized mess this way, and I'll be adding more classes very soon (and it would be nice to have them in separate files). As I've come to understand it, this is caused by the file (XMLParser_libxml2.hh) having both the class and function definition and implementation in one file (and it seems as though this might have been necessary due to the use of templates in that 'header' file). Any ideas on how to get around sticking all my class files in my main.cpp? (I've tried ifdefs, they don't work).

  I am trying to use python for translating a set of templates to a set of configuration files based on values taken from a main configuration file. However, I am having certain issues. Consider the following example of a template file. file1.cfg.template %(CLIENT1)s %(HOST1)s %(PORT1)d C %(COMPID1)s %(CLIENT2)s %(HOST2)s %(PORT2)d C %(COMPID2)s This file contains an entry for each client. There are hundreds of config files like this and I don't want to have logic for each type of config file. Python should do the replacements and generate config files automatically given a set of global values read from a main xml config file. However, in the above example, if CLIENT2 does not exist, how do I delete that line? I expect Python would generate the config file using the following simple code: os.open("file1.cfg.template").read() & myhash where myhash is hash of all configuration parameters which may not contain CLIENT2 at all. In the case it does not contain CLIENT2, I want that line to disappear from the file. Is it possible to insert some 'IF' block in the file and have python evaluate it? Thanks for your help. Now is my next question, i need to get that file filled with the following: svn co http://repo.com/svn/test C:\users\twan\desktop\pres\_temp cd C:\users\twan\desktop\pres\_temp svn log -v --xml > logfile.log copy C:\users\twan\desktop\statsvn.jar C:\users\twan\desktop\pres\_temp cd .. java -jar _temp\statsvn.jar C:\users\twan\desktop\pres\_temp/logfile.log C:\users\twan\desktop\pres\_temp rmdir /s /Q _temp The actual idea is that this script is written into the sh file, and all the _temp and other locations are replaced by the vars i get from textfields etc. so c:\users\twan\desktop\pres_temp would be a var called tempDirStr that i get from my inputfields. (i know these cmomands and locations are windows based, im doing this with a friend and he made a .net counterpart of the application. Can you guys help me out?:D thanks in advance!

• Can you open a form or window in an Outlook Addin (VSTO)

  Hi, I am new to VSTO programming. I have created a basic addin for Outlook 2007 that monitors a folder containing XML text files which it opens and then sends them as an email, then deletes them. this all works fine. I want the user to be able to configure certain settings for the way the addin/program will operate, such as the folder that it will monitor, and other things. The logical way to do this is to create a menu item in the addin (which I have also done) that opens a windows form (or XAML window) that allows them to enter the parameters. In my addin I added a new item Windows Form, which worked, and the designer opened. However, in my addin code I cannot open the form. The Show() method normally associated with form objects is not available. Is this simply something you cannot do, or am I just doing it the wrong way? I have read about Outlook form regions, but these seemed to be attached to outlook items such as a new email, task, appointment etc... there doesnt seem to be a way to create a form region that can be opened in the main window of Outlook. Ideally, I would like to go with my original method of opening a new window from a menu item, but if this isnt possible I would like to hear other solutions. Thanks, Will.

• How to Resolve a Transformation Service with BRE that occurs after an Orchestration in an Itinerary?

  In trying to implement simple integration patterns with Biztalk ESB Toolkit 2.0, I'm facing a problem trying to resolve a Transformation Itinerary Service that occurs after an Orchestration. I'm using the BRE Resolver to execute rules that need to inspect the Context Message Type property to determine the appropriate map to use. However, once the message reaches the step in the Itinerary associated with the Transformation Service, the map fails to execute. From careful investigation, it appears that the message type is not supplied to the "Resolution" object that is used internally by the BRE resolver. Indeed, since the message leaving the preceding Orchestration is typed System.Xml.XmlDocument, the type of the message is "demoted" from the context. By tracking rules engine execution, I can observe that the type of the message is indeed lost when reaching the BRE resolver. The type of the message is empty, whereas the strongly-typed of the document is Microsoft.XLANGs.BaseTypes.Any. The Orchestration service that I use is taken straight from the samples that ship with ESB Toolkit 2.0. Is there a way to perform Context-Based BRE resolution after an Orchestration in an Itinerary?

  Imagine the UI passes back an XMl node as such: <properties> <type> Source </type> <name> Blooper </name> <delay> <type> Deterministic </type> <parameters> <param> 4 </param> </parameters> <delay> <batch> <type> Erlang </type> <parameters> <param> 4 </param> <param> 6 </param> </parameters> <batch> And behind the scene what it is asking that you instantiate a class as such: new Source("blooper", new Exp(4), new Erlang(4,6); The problem lies in the fact that you don't know what class you will need to processing, and you will be sent a list of these class definitions with instructions on how they can be linked to each other. I've heard that using a BeanFactoryPostProcessor might be helpful, or a property editor/convertor. However I am at a loss as to how best to use them to solve my problem. Any help you can provide will be much appreciated.

• No Hibernate Exception on the same insert of data

  Hi All, Hibernate Newbie here. I am quite unsure why I am not getting any exception when I am executing below code. On first attempt, this code creates the Book Entry on my Book Table. But my concern is that when I execute below code again, no error was pop out by Hibernate. • EMF ecore and xsd out of sync, how to resolve ?

  Hi there, My application is using a model base on an xsd that have been converted to an ecore before generation of the java classes. One of my team member modified the .ecore metamodel in a previous version ,one attribute that used to be generated. He modified the attribute name but not the Extended MetaData specifying the element name used for xml persistance. <eStructuralFeatures xsi:type="ecore:EReference" name="javaDocsAndUserApi" upperBound="-1" eType="#//JavaDocsAndUserApi" containment="true" resolveProxies="false"> <eAnnotations source="http:///org/eclipse/emf/ecore/util/ExtendedMetaData"> <details key="kind" value="element"/> <details key="name" value="docsAndUserApi"/> </eAnnotations> </eStructuralFeatures> so we have an attribute name which is javaDocsAndUserApi and the persisted element named docsAndUserApi, and of course if I create change the attribute in the xsd to be named javaDocsAndUserApi, the ecore transformation will generate a metadata name javaDocsAndUserApi as well, which will break compatibility with previously persisted models. I have looked at xsd authoring guide to find an ecore:som_attribute that would allow me to specify which key to use in the xsd to force the metadata to be named docsAndUserApi during the xsd to ecore transformation but did not find anything. Does anybody have an idea to help me? Thank you.

• Suggestion on UPnP presentation

  Hi all, I am working on an embedded device (bit higher end in terms of system resources but still an embedded one) which has lot of media content in it. I am trying to make it UPnP complaint and want to be able to control this device using a UPnP complaint control point/companion device like ipad. The step towards this is to be able to present the playlist content to the user. We thought of using HTML5 as a format to use. But as I am a noob in web technologies, I am not sure whats the best way to produce and present rich dynamic web pages. The content thats presented are video/audio listing that device can play and want this listing to be generated using the user's input criteria. So, what would be the best way to generate these dynamic pages which are rich and rendered as HTML5 pages. (looked at XML & XSLT, but there seems to be some limitations in how well one can use XSLT from some rewviews I saw). • deep linking in Excel sheets exported to html

  hello everybody, I am working on a project where I must export to html a lot of Excel files. This is pretty straightforward using automation and saving as html. The problem is that many of these sheets have links to worksheets of some other files. I must find a way to write a link to a single inner worksheet. When you export a multisheet excel file to html, excel creates a main htm file, a folder named filename_file, and inside this folder it writes down several files: a css, an xml list of files, a file that creates the tab bar and several html files named sheetxxx.htm, each one representing a worksheet. When you open the main file, you can click the menu bar at the bottom which lets you select the appropriate sheet. This is in fact a link, which replaces a frame content with the sheetxxx.htm file. When this file is loaded a javascript function that selects the right tab gets called. The exported files will be published on a web site. I will have to post process each file and replace every link to the other xls files to the matching htm file, finding a way to open the right worksheet. I think that I could add a parameter to the processed htm file link url, such as myfile.htm?sh=sheet002.htm if I want to link to the second worksheet of myfile.htm (ex myfile.xls). After I've exported them, I could inject a simple javascript into each of the main files which, when they are loaded, could retrieve the sh parameter with jQuery (this is easy) and use this to somehow replace the frSheet frame contents (where the sheets get loaded), opening the right inner sheet and not the default sheet (this is what I call deep linking) mimicking what happens when a user clicks on a tab. This last step is missing... :) I am considering different options, such as replacing the source of the $("frSheet") frame after document.ready. I'd like to hear from you any advice on what could be the best way to realize that in your opinion. any help is greately appreciated, many thanks.

• Problem: How to display a Wordpress RSS feed in a browser that doesn't have a built in RSS reader?

  If I can, i'd rather not use a service like FeedBurner. My setup: I've setup a RSS feed link on a self-hosted Wordpress website, clicking the RSS link in Safari shows the feed - because Safari has a built in RSS reader. Great. Unfortunately clicking the same RSS link in Chrome displays the raw XML feed. I know why this happens - Chrome doesn't have a built in RSS reader. I also assume this will be the same in older versions of Internet Explorer. Possible solution? I've noticed http://www.bbc.co.uk/news has a nice solution: Click the RSS feed (top tight of the page) in a RSS enabled browser (Safari) and it uses the built in RSS reader to display the RSS feed. Click the same RSS feed link in Chrome (Chrome has no built in RSS reader) it displays the RSS feed using what looks like a custom page. Is there a way to check if a browser has a built in RSS reader? How would I provide alternative content (like the BBC site) to a browser that doesn't have a RSS reader installed? Any help on this would be brilliant, thanks for taking the time to read this. Stephen
