  Hi everyone, I am writing a simple android application with a class that extends activity, that plays a video from a url on the web. There is a button on top that on click takes the user to a web page. What I want to do is when the user is browsing the web page, if he hits the back button, I want him to come back to the main activity and restart the video. Is there a way to do this?   I want to broadcast Video from a web cam, over internet. The problem is, the Video will be viewed live by more than 20,000 people (expected). I have a very little experience with Red5 Broadcasting. I did some broadcasting using Red5 and Flash. It works fine for 1 or 2 viewers i.e. it is great for personal chatting/ video conferencing applications. But, when the number of viewers increases, the delay in Broadcasting also increases. I am experiencing a Delay addition of about 0.5 Seconds for every new user who joins the broadcast. Can any one suggest me some, better technologies on which I can work out this Live Broadcasting. I don't want to use http://www.ustream.com; I want to create one of my own, such tool. But thats always the last solution.

• Is loading a video in a browser multithreaded?

  It's hard to know what is multithreaded in a browser and what isn't. It seems while a video streams or progressively downloads, it does not affect page performance, so my guess it is. Note I'm using Flash video, but it's really about video in general. Any other tips on what else is multithreaded (image loads?) is also helpful. I know JavaScript is not, and I thought Flash wasn't but I heard somewhere that it may be (or it could be done), but I think they were not well informed.

  I am currently using the Silverlight 2 Video Player to stream videos. I have been very pleased with it but it only seems to stream .WMV files. Does anyone know if there is a good Silverlight video player that will stream other types of video files, especially .MP4 & .FLV? I would be happy to use Silverlight 3 if necessary. EDIT: Because I like this player and have not found a great option, I am considering encoding files as I receive them so that they will always be streamed later as a .WMV. Unless I determine a good player (I am considering flash at this point), I will have to go down this road.

  Hi folks, My next project will be all about language tools, parsing and such. Because of that reason I've decided to write a simple language which can be used for video editing. So instead of those desktop applications (Sony vegas, Adobe Premiere, ..) it's basically a language where you define the effects and all and it will generate a video for you. Since I've got no experience in this kind of business I need some help. The goal of the project is to create a simple language which is able to do some basic things (such as text fading in, etc). I am looking for articles/projects/blogs/whatever related with this which could help me writing this language. • Local Live Quicktime Video Broadcast, latency?

  I'm looking into the feasibility of using a local server to distribute live video of a conference to delegates in the same room. They would still hear the live audio coming from the speaker, so only the video would be streamed. I was considering a Darwin Steaming Server (a lot of iPhone users to support) and encoding with H.264. My main concern is latency across the network. Even with everything running locally, would there be lip sync issues between the live audio and the 'live' video stream? It feels like there will be problems given the encoding, broadcasting, decoding to be completed, but I've never done any like this before so thought I would check. Thanks

• efficient video format/codec for sparse & binary blob tracking

  I am working on a blob tracking project and have many high-definition videos that I would like to reduce in size for storage and downstream tracking/shape-analysis. I want to use a lossless method that takes advantage of the black and white nature of the video as well as the fact that not much is moving between individual frames. The videos are quite sparse, with 5 to 10 b&w blobs per frame occupying <30% of the space in total, with each blob moving <5-10% of the field of view between frames and not changing shape too much between 2-3 frames. I will work in Python, Matlab, or LabView for this project, and could use a batch utility if available. It may be worthwhile to export the files as compressed image stacks if a proper video format can't be found. What are the pros and cons of this? A video codec uses correlations between neighboring frames, so it should be more efficient, but not if the wrong one is chosen or if it is improperly configured.

  Hi guys I need to be able to render a silverlight storyboard animation to video. The animated content itself could be simple UIElements, Images or even two or more videos playing at the same time. Several ideas came to mind like RenderTargetBitmap on a single frame basis, but: 1) I've never tested this against video embedded content 2) Don't know how to actually compose the video from the generated images. Expression Encoder was also on my mind, but I don't know if it's possible to integrate it in a Silverlight/XBAP app to fulfill what's expected from it. What's your opinion on this?

  I would like to draw a rectangle around a video playing on my screen. For example, I am watching a YouTube video in my browser. I would like to be able to take a screenshot, analyze that screenshot, and then draw a rectangle around where the YouTube video is playing. I have just started looking into how I might be able to to this. I came across OpenCV. I understand that OpenCV covers many computer vision techniques. Would any of them be particularly well suited for this task? Also, is this something that can be done in real time? Finally, is there a technique that would work for both in browser and full screen? • Embedded YouTube video slows down page load

  Hi, total newbie here - trying to figure out how to make a page load faster with 1 embedded YouTube video on it - a very modest page takes an extra 5 seconds to completely load with the YouTube player showing up. I'd either like the page to load first or to only load the video when user clicks on it - don't know how to do that.. I want to do share some videos I've made with friends on IRC, and it would be easiest if I could just stream it so we can all watch at the same time and critique parts of it in real time. Has anyone done something similar? Linux s10 3.2.0-2-686-pae #1 SMP Tue Mar 20 19:48:26 UTC 2012 i686 GNU/Linux Basic home network, I am behind a NAT (192.168.1.*) and have dynamic DNS set up. That doesn't really matter too much, I can figure that out, but it's not even working locally. I have a file server set up and could just share the files that way, but I'd rather have everyone watching at the same time (or just about). Not worried about installing new packages or building something from source, that's not a big issue, just want to get it working. Big plus if I can do it from command line.

• Free video capture programs for windows 7?

  I want to record my screen to make a tutorial. I tried to use camStudio but it goes all weird after a couple mins. Like I am recording then all of a sudden a popup from windows says that all the memory for colors is being used and it will stop using areo. Then a few mins later my screen starts going nuts and it starts flashing green. So I am not sure what to record and I can't afford to buy Camtasia.

• Codec problem: Video noise / squares blinking as it play

  Its a weird and intermittent problem, it comes and goes with time. I thought I could fix it rebooting, but it seems that is not always. Take a look: This noise keeps blinking at the screen the entire movie. If I give up and try again an hour from now, it will be fine... weird! I have K-Lite Codec Pack installed, in my machine and many others. Its very cool, everything works perfect... but mine is the only one that does it. Do anybody know whats going on? Edit: Apparently they've just release the very latest version of K-Lite today (lol), with some bug fixes. I'll be testing it. Last time I reainstalled K-Lite the problem was gone, but came back again...

• Read video from dvd in RAW filesystem

  Hallo, i've got some dvds that were recorded on a dvd recorder. I can not read those dvds on windows PCs (i tried multiple PCs). The properties of the discs say that the filesystem of the disc is RAW and i think that is the reason why windows does not read the disc. If that is true, what can i do to read the dvds ? Or what else could be the problem ? EDIT: The windows PCs i tried play back regular DVDs without any problem, and the "RAW" dvds recorded with the dvd recorder will not play on a standalone dvd player. Thank you!
