    How can I get mojibake to pass? this might be a bug in the contributors plugin.   • Sitecore E-Commerce Module - Discount/Promotional Codes

    I am working on a project for which I must use Sitecore's E-Commerce Module (and Sitecore 6.5 rev. 120706 - aka 'Update 5') to create a web-store. One of the features that I am trying to implement is a generic promotional/discount code system - customer enters a code at checkout which grants a discount like 'free shipping', '20% off', etc. At the moment, I am looking for some guidance (a high-level solution, a few pseudo-ideas, some references to review, etc) as to how this can be accomplished. Summary: What I am looking for is a way to detect whether or not the user entered a promo code at a previous stage in the checkout line, and to determine what that promo code is, if they did. Progress Thus Far: I have thoroughly reviewed all of the Sitecore E-Commerce Services (SES) documentation, especially "SES Order Line Extension" documentation (which I believe will have to be modified/extended in order to accomplish this task). Additionally, I have thoroughly reviewed the Sitecore Community article Extending Sitecore E-Commerce - Pricing and believe that it may be a useful guide for applying a discount statically, but does not say much in the way of applying a discount dynamically. After reviewing these documents, I have come up with the following possible high-level solution to start from: I create a template to represent a promotional code, which holds all data relevant to the promotion (percent off, free shipping, code, etc). I then create another template (based on the Product Search Group template) that holds a link to an item within a global "Promotional Code" items folder. Next, I use the Product Search Group features of my new template to choose which products to apply the discount to. In the source code for the checkout I create a class that checks if a code has been entered and, if so, somehow carry it through the rest of the checkout process. This is where I get stuck. More Details: No using cookies No GET requests No changing/creating/deleting items in the Sitecore Database during the checkout process (e.g., no manipulation of fields of a discount item during checkout to signal that the discount has been applied) must stay within the scope of C# Last Notes: I will update this post with any more information that I find/progress that I make. I upgrade all answers that are relevant and detailed, thought-provoking, or otherwise useful to me and potentially useful to others, in addition to any high-level answers that serve as a feasible solution to this problem; even if your idea doesn't help me, if I think it will help someone else I will still upgrade it.   • Cloning a selector + all its children in jQuery?

    I'm having trouble getting the following JQuery script to function properly - its functionality is as follows: 1) Hide the content below each headline 2) Upon clicking a headline, substitute the "#first-post" with the headline + the hidden content below the headline. I can only seem to get the script to clone the headline itself to #first-post, not the headline + the content beneath it.   • cutting a text file into multiple parts in emacs

    Hi I am using the GNU-Emacs-23 editor. I have this huge text file containing about 10,000 lines which I want to chop into multiple files. Using the mouse to select the required text to paste in another file is the really painful. Also this is prone to errors too. If I want to divide the text file according to the line numbers into say 4 file where first file:lines 1-2500 second file:lines 2500-5000 third file :lines 5000-7500 fourth file: lines: 7500-10000 how do I do this? At the very least, is there any efficient way to copy large regions of the file just by specifying line numbers

  • Asp.net error object not set to a reference

    Hi all, Because I rush in development (a lot of whip cracking here) and declare my objects at the top of the function and instantiate inside my try-catch block, I get a lot of the good old "object not set to an instance of an object" errors while doing TDD, and later if I do miss a branch that object was used in (doing VB now, would prefer C#) or just in every day coding, object not set to an instance of an object is a bit vague. Sure the stack trace sends me to the line the error occured at, but it would be nice if I could modify my logging to either name the object or its type because sometimes I have multiple objects on the same line. It's not the end of the world, but in the end it would save me a few minutes each day. Any ideas on how I can pass the info on which object wasn't set? Thanks

I've got it to create the database but now I need to load in several .sql files. I had planned to open the file and mysql_query it a line at a time - until I looked at the schema files and realised they aren't just one query per line. So, please.. how do I load an sql file from within PHP? (as phpMyAdmin does with it's import command).

    I'm profiling code of a game I wrote and I'm wondering how it is possible that the following snippet causes an heap increase of 4kb (I'm profiling with Heapshot Analysis of Xcode) every time it is executed: u8 WorldManager::versionOfMap(FILE *file) { char magic[4]; u8 version; fread(magic, 4, 1, file); <-- this is the line fread(&version,1,1,file); fseek(file, 0, SEEK_SET); return version; } According to the profiler the highlighted line allocates 4.00Kb of memory with a malloc every time the function is called, memory which is never released. This thing seems to happen with other calls to fread around the code, but this was the most eclatant one. Is there anything trivial I'm missing? Is it something internal I shouldn't care about? Just as a note: I'm profiling it on an iPhone and it's compiled as release (-O2).

  • How do you move the pointer up or down multiple lines with Emacs?

    I can move my pointer up and down one line with my arrow key just fine in Emacs, so I'd like to redefine C-n and C-p to move up and down 5 lines at a time. I'm just beginning to learn how to use Emacs, and elisp is very alien to me. I tried using the GNU Emacs lisp reference, but I couldn't find how to bind a keystroke to multiple commands. Here's what I have so far (concentrating on the moving up definition): (global-set-key "\C-p" '(loop for i in '(1 2 3 4 5) do ('previous-line))) But, this brings up an error message when I hit C-p, "Wrong type argument." Any suggestions? Thanks!

  • unsetting application role in classic ASP

    Hi, I'm trying to unset an application role but have been failing miserably. I was able to get the cookie value after setting (sp_setapprole) the application role. But I haven't been able to use that cookie (type varbinary / byte array) in my query to unset using sp_unsetapprole. If it was any other stored procedure it wouldn't have been a problem. I was able to use Command object and create a parameter which takes data type input of adVarBinary (204) and execute the command line.. but to the Server the query goes as below. exec sp_executesql N'sp_unsetapprole @P1 ',N'@P1 varbinary(36)',0x01000000CD11697F8F0ED3627BC1DAD25FB9CEB3A2EC5B289C658235E510CD9F29230000 Since sp_setapprole and sp_unsetapprole have to be run ad hoc, the sql server is failing to run this line. And I'm finding it hard to append varbinary cookie value to a simple query such as 'sp_unsetapprole ' & varKookie so it runs "directly" on to the server. Any kind of suggestions are welcome. A Java process writing logs to the stdout A shell script starting the Java process Another shell script which executes the previous one and redirects the log I check the log file with the tail -f command for the success message. Even if I have exit 0 in the code I cannot end the tail -f process. Which doesn't let my script to finish. Is there any other way of doing this in Bash?   • Experience using IRC to coordinate software development?

    I am part of a growing software project with at least 200 active developer in 10 locations. I would like to set up an on-line chat forum for developers because I think it would help to coordinate efforts. We have an email mailing list but I feel like some questions or announcements are too informal to send to everyone while mentioning it in a chat forum might be a useful community resource. I have never participated in a software project that used an on-line chat forum so I would like to hear about peoples experiences. I am particularly interested in technical issues: Use of IRC vs. alternative platforms; how to manage access, eg. for developers only, allowing users to participate; the value of requiring certain announcements to be made on the chat forum eg who is resolving broken builds etc. If I pitch the idea to the community I would like to have some good arguments why it would be a good idea and some prospective of its usefulness in other software projects.

  • How do I do a join in ActiveRecord after records have been returned?

    I am using ActiveRecord in Rails 3 to pull data from two different tables in two different databases. These databases can not join on each other, but I have the need to do a simple join after-the-fact. I would like to preserve the relation so that I can chain it down the line. here is a simplified version of what I am doing browsers = Browser.all # <-- this is fairly small and can reside in memory events = Event.where(:row_date=>Date.today).select(:name, :browser_id) So as you can see, I want to join browsers in on the events relation, where browser_id should equal browsers.name. events is a relation and I can still add clauses to it down the line, so I dont want to run the query on the db just yet. How would I accomplish this?

  • Rails 3 beta 1 - Nested layouts - LocalJumpError

    Hi Nested layouts do not work in Rails 3. After I hit this I tried Rails Guides Example on a blank project (both ruby 1.9.1 and 1.8.7). LocalJumpError no block given on line <%= yield :stylesheets %. If you remove this line you will get the same error on the next yield statement. Could someone fix(patch) this? It's probably just a matter of calling block_given? in the right place. That would be great. Thanks Added on 4/3: Rails 3 beta 2 released. Problem fixed.
