• ASP.Net WebForms requiredfieldvalidator not working in FireFox?

  I have a WebForms app that uses a field validator on a dropdownlist. It works in IE but not FireFox. This is pretty straightforward stuff I'm doing. Javascript is enabled on the FireFox browser-- this problem happens on all FF browsers I've tested, on multiple everyday machines, so I don't believe it's due to a locked down install.

  Hi, I'm using jsTree and I need to convert this HTML tag tree code <ul> <li> to a PHP array. The jsTree HTML tag will be passed to PHP to be parsed and store in a structured tree PHP array(see below for the PHP array structure).   I need to insert a value into a selectlist. It isn't the "0" value (i.e. the first one that shows) but the next one which would be "Other". This is then used to display an "Other" textbox. My question is similiar to link text. • rails is loading from routes instead of the public folder

  I have a rails app. I have a file in #{RAILS_ROOT}/public/swfs/somthing.swf. Locally, when running with webrick, when I go to the url localhost:3000/swfs/something.swf, my swf loads just fine. My routes.rb file looks like the following ActionController::Routing::Routes.draw do |map| map.connect ':controller/:action/:id' map.connect ':controller/:action/:id.:format' end Then, I started running the app with apache. When I visit myurl.com/swfs/something.swf, I get the following error message: Routing Error No route matches "/swfs/something.swf" with {:method=>:get} It looks like, for some reason, it is loading using the rails routes, instead of going to the public folder first. Any suggestions?

  Are there any professional Combobox controls (dropdown list with autosuggestion) based on the jQuery library? It should be able to handle large datasets and have some skinning options. A multi-column result list would be great too. I'm working with ASP.NET, but it's a not a problem if I had to write a wrapper for it. I'm already using a third-party control, but I ran into some compatibilty issues between two vendor's controls. Well, I want to get rid of this kind of dependencies.

• MS SQL Server 15MM rows, simple COUNT query. 15+ seconds?

  We took over a website from another company after a client decided to switch. We have a table that grows by about 25k records a day, and is currently at 15MM records. The table looks something like: id (PK, int, not null) member_id (int, not null) another_id (int, not null) date (datetime, not null) SELECT COUNT(id) FROM tbl can take up to 15 seconds. A simple inner join on 'another_id' takes over 30 seconds. I can't imagine why this is taking so long. Any advice? SQL Server 2005 Express

• Control third check box based on the state of the first two using jquery

  I have three check boxes and need to disable the third if either and/or of the other two are checked. I'm sure there's a easier way than what I have currently. It's turning into what I believe is a mess and I'm hoping that someone with more jquery knowledge can shine the light here. I don't understand why. This works, but one of the requirements is that a non programmer should be able to edit and maintain this. Ideally it'd be great if he could just add new check boxes to the html and it would work. The class for these are define and as far as I know can't be changed. The last check box in the list of check boxes will disable if any of the ones above are selected. Like wise if the last check box is selected, it will disable all the ones above it. I haven't even begun writing and testing that portion as this is quickly becoming too complicated for a non programmer to handle. I myself am more of a PHP coder than a js, let alone jquery, coder. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  I'm wondering what is the best way to model something like the following. Lets say my company sells metal bars (parameters/fields are: length, profile_type, quantity etc.) of different profiles, where profiles may be pipe(pipe_diameter, wall_thickness) or hollow_rectangle(base, height, wall_thickness), or maybe some other profile with different parameters. Lets say maximum number of profiles would be 12, each profile having between 2-5 parameters. Should everything be in a single table like table_bars: id, length, quantity, profile_type, pipe_diameter, wall_thickness, base, height, etc.) where profile type would be (pipe, rectangle etc.) or should every shape have its own table with its own parameters and in table_bars keep only id, length, quantity profile_type and profile_id) and are there any django specific issues is multiple tables are the best answer? • IE6 "frame" layout with 100% height and scrollbars

  I want to achieve a simple "frame" layout with fixed header, fixed left navigation area, and a main content area that fills 100% of the remainder of the viewport with scrollbars if necessary. My best attempt is below - but when I add enough content to the main div to force scrolling, I see that the scrollbar extends below the bottom of the viewport. What am I doing wrong? Or what is IE6 doing wrong and how can I fix it?   I am planning to integrate a Google Checkout payment system on a social networking website. The idea is that members can buy "tokens" for real money (which are sort of the website currency) and then they can buy access to some extra content on the website etc. What I want to do is create a Google Checkout button that takes a member to the checkout page where he pays with his credit or debit card. What I want is the Google Checkout to notify notify my server whether the purchase of tokens was successful (if the credit/debit card was charged) so I can update the local database. The website is coded in PHP/MySQL. I have downloaded the sample PHP code from here: code.google.com/p/google-checkout-php-sample-code/wiki/Documentation I know how to create a Google checkout button and I have also placed the responsehandlerdemo.php file on my server. This is the file the Google Checkout is supposed to send response to (of course I set the path to the file in Google merchant account). • Using will_paginate with AJAX live search with jQuery in Rails

  I am using will_paginate to successfully page through records. I am also using AJAX live search via jQuery to update my results div. No problem so far. The issue I have is when trying to paginate through those live search results. I simply get "Page is loading..." with no div update.   The dhtmlxgrid documentation is saying that I should be able to get a string with the grid data with the serialize feature. mygrid.setSerializationLevel(true,true); var myXmlStr = mygrid.serialize(); I'd like to use that feature to get the updated grid data. But I don't get the xml string. Is that feature not available in the open source version? If I could get a csv string, that would also be OK. • jQuery .ajax() call to page method works in FF only when async is false

  I'm calling a page method using .ajax() and it works in IE8 whatever the value of async is. However, in FF3.6, it only works with async set to false. When async is set to true, in Firebug, I just see status aborted. The page validates.   Hi, I have three entities ClassA, ClassB and ClassC. ClassA { ... @Id @GeneratedValue @Column(name = "a_id") private long id; ... @OneToMany(cascade={CascadeType.ALL}) @JoinColumn(name="a_id") private List<ClassB> bbb; ... } ClassB { ... @ManyToOne private ClassC ccc; ... } ClassC { ... private String name; ... } I want to filter by hibernate criteria ClassA by 'name' member of ClassC. So I want to obtain by hibernate criteria list of ClassA objects which have inside ClassC objects with specified name. Problem is that access to ClassC objects is through ClassB list. I tried something like this but it does not work: crit.createCriteria("bbb").createCriteria("ccc").add(Restrictions.ilike("name", name, MatchMode.ANYWHERE)); I will be grateful for help.

• USB Serial cable with CDC support

  Hi All, I bought a USB to Serial cable which claims to be CDC compliant. But the bInterfaceClass value in interface descriptor is 0xFF(which is vendor specific). I was expecting it to be 0x02 (Communications and CDC control). In the device manager, i found that the drivers being loaded are ser2pl.sys and serenum.sys. I had learnt usbser.sys is the windows CDC driver, but it was not loaded for my cable. I am pretty much new to this CDC, so i have following questions 1.Does this indicate that the cable is not CDC compliant 2.Can i make this cable CDC compliant (since CDC is a driver functionality), by loading usbser.sys. If yes how?

• Jquery Cycle Plugin Question - turning off relative links to photos so it goes to a URL

  I am using Jquery Cycle Plugin and it has a side panel that highlights as the photos change and currently when I click on the text the associated photo pulls up then I have to click on the photo to go to the URL but I would like the text itself to link to the URL. I have looked at the fn.cycle.defaults but not sure what to change and I tried a few things but nothing works. If anyone can help me figure this out it would be most helpful.
