  • jQuery Form plugin - no data from file upload?

    I've been struggling a bit with the jQuery Form plugin. I want to create a file upload form that posts the data (JSON, from the chosen file) into a REST service exposed by a servlet. The URL for the POST is calculated from what the user chooses in a SELECT dropdown. When the upload is complete, I want to notify the user immediately, AJAX-style. The problem is that the POST header has a Content-Length of 0 and contains no data.   • Not able to send POST request through jQuery Ajax

    Hi, I was trying to send an ajax request as POST request. But when i verified it on httpFox on firefox, the request is sent as GET. I tried pbht $.ajax() and $.post(). Many had a query regarding the same and had missed the "type" in $.ajax(), but even if i mention the type as "POST", the request will be of type GET.   • WCF REST Does Not Contain All of the Relative File Path

    I have a RESTful WCF 3.5 endpoint as such: System.Security.User.svc This is supposed to represent the namespace of the User class and is desired behavior by our client. I have another endpoint I created for testing called: Echo.svc I am writing an overridden IHttpModule and in my module, I follow what almost everyone does by doing: string path = HttpContext.Current.Request.AppRelativeCurrentExecutionFilePath; If I make a call to: http://localhost/services/Echo/test My path variable has a value of '~/echo/test' However, when I make a call to: http://localhost/services/System.Security.User/test My path variable has a value of '~/system.security.user' In my 2nd situation, it is stripping off the '/test' on the end of any endpoint that contains multiple periods. This is undesired behavior and the only solution I have found to fixing this is some ugly string manipulation using the property which does contain the complete URL path: string rawPath = HttpContext.Current.Request.RawUrl; This returns '/services/system.security.user/test'. Does anyone know why my first situation does not return the rest of the URL path for endpoints that contain multiple periods in the name?

Thanks for reading all of this. I've already implemented it and it works nicely, and I'm planning to extend it to validate the contents of IEnumerable fields and other fields that are Validatable. What I'm particularly concerned about is that if no ruleset is specified, the validator tries to use the name of the property as the ruleset name. (If you don't want that behavior, you can use [SuppressValidation].) This makes the code much less cluttered (no need to use [UseValidationRuleset("something")] on every single property) but it somehow doesn't feel right. I can't decide if it's awful or awesome. What do you think? Any suggestions on the other parts of this design are welcome too. I'm not very experienced and I'm grateful for any help. Also, is "Validatable" a good name? To me, it sounds pretty weird but I'm not a native English speaker.

    So I am using the HTML5 date input type, primary to trigger the 'wheels' in iOS. Everything is working fine in ie7-9 Chrome and FF. But Safari for OSX is very upset. It sees the need to add little 'up and down' buttons to the right hand side and generally mess up my visual stylings. My attempt to fix this, is to change the date inputs back to text inputs for desktop browsers, and leave it as date inputs for mobile: unless device.is # 'device' is a lib I use to detect mobile browsers dateFields = $ 'input[type="date"]' dateFields.attr 'type', 'text' #this fails dateFields.datepicker() dateFields.on 'keyup', (e) -> e.preventDefault() $(@).val '' Beyond altering the input type with js, I am at a loss for how to fix this little bugger.   • C# struct with object as data member

    As we know, in C# structs are passed by value, not by reference. So if I have a struct with the following data members: private struct MessageBox { // data members private DateTime dm_DateTimeStamp; // a struct type private TimeSpan dm_TimeSpanInterval; // also a struct private ulong dm_MessageID; // System.Int64 type, struct private String dm_strMessage; // an object (hence a reference is stored here) // more methods, properties, etc ... } So when a MessageBox is passed as a parameter, a COPY is made on the stack, right? What does that mean in terms of how the data members are copied? The first two are struct types, so copies should be made of DateTime and TimeSpan. The third type is a primitive, so it's also copied. But what about the dm_strMessage, which is a reference to an object? When it's copied, another reference to the same String is created, right? The object itself resides in the heap, and is NOT copied (there is only one instance of it on the heap.) So now we have to references to the same object of type String. If the two references are accessed from different threads, it's conceivable that the String object could be corrupted by being modified from two different directions simultaneously. The MSDN documentation says that System.String is thread safe. Does that mean that the String class has a built-in mechanism to prevent an object being corrupted in exactly the type of situation described here? I'm trying to figure out if my MessageBox struct has any potential flaws / pitfalls being a structure vs. a class. Thanks for any input. Source.Energy.

  • .NET SerialPort.Read skipps bytes

    Solution Reading the data byte wise via "port.ReadByte" is too slow, the problem is inside the SerialPort class. i changed it to reading bigger chunks via "port.Read" and there are now no buffer overruns. although i found the solution myself, writing it down helped me and maybe someone else has the same problem and finds this via google... (how can i mark it as answered?) EDIT 2 by setting port.ReadBufferSize = 2000000; i can delay the problem for ~30 seconds. so it seems, .Net really is too slow... since my application is not that critical, i just set the buffer to 20MB, but i am still interested in the cause. EDIT i just tested something i had not thought of before (shame on me): port.ErrorReceived += (object self, SerialErrorReceivedEventArgs se_arg) => { Console.Write("| Error: {0} | ", System.Enum.GetName(se_arg.EventType.GetType(), se_arg.EventType)); }; and it seems that i have an overrun. Is the .Net implementation too slow for 500k or is there an error on my side? Original Question i built a very primitive oszilloscope (avr, which sends adc data over uart to an ftdi chip). On the pc side i have a WPF Programm that displays this data. The Protokoll is: two sync bytes (0xaffe) - 14 data bytes - two sync bytes - 14 data bytes - ... i use 16bit values, so inside the 14 data bytes are 7 channels (lsb first). I verified the uC Firmware with hTerm, and it does send and receive everything correct. But, if i try to read the data with C#, sometimes some bytes are lost. The oszilloscop programm is a mess, but i created a small sample application, which has the same symptoms. I added two extension methods to a) read one byte from the COM Port and ignore -1 (EOF) and b) wait for the sync pattern. The sample programm first syncs onto the data stream by waiting for (0xaffe) and then compares the received bytes with the expected values. the loop runs a few times until an assert failed message pops up. I could not find anything about lost bytes via google, any help would be appreciated.     Hello all, if this problem was discussed before,sorry for asking again.. I want to download an image from an url with using System.Net.WebClient class.     I have a for loop that I will use to compute time intervals to add to an ArrayList. The problem is that I can not prove that the for loop is being executed.     I am a beginner who finally started understanding anonymous types. (see old post http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3010147/what-is-the-return-type-for-a-anonymous-linq-query-select-what-is-the-best-way-t) So in LINQ queries you form the type of return value you want within the linq query right? It seems the way to do this is anonymous type right? Can someone explain to me if and when I could use a Tuple/Expando object instead? They all seem very simliar?
