• DHCP settings out of range Internet shuts off after a few minutes

  I recently upgraded from windows eight to windows 8.1 I do not know if this has anything to do with anything I have a 64 bit OS. My Internet goes off by itself every 5 minutes even though my wireless icon at the lower right of the screen still shows connected I had an error message in the last event in it said that might DHCP settings were out of range. I get my internet at my house through a wireless portable hotspot through my smart phone. But i haven't ever had any problems before and i only have this problem on this network. If i turn airplane mode on and reset my network card, the internet will come back to life but soon die. i don't experience this problem while on a different network or if i'm on WiFi.   When downloading movies on torrent websites, usually they come as 700 MB video files and with the .avi extension. In one single DVD I have 4~6 movies and they play very nice (with good quality) in my DVD player! I've downloaded Handbrake and DVD43. But I don't know the settings to get those nice results. • How to diagnose "Internet explorer cannot display the webpage"

  Our web site is working great for 99.99% of our users, but a few people (all of whom use Internet Explorer) are running into an error. Most pages on the site load fine, but for one specific page (the same page for all affected users), all they get is: Internet explorer cannot display the webpage It doesn't matter whether the page is accessed over http or https - it fails to load either way. Every other page on the site, as far as I can tell, works fine for them. Not only that, the same users can load that specific page fine in Firefox. I've checked the web server logs and I can't find any smoking guns there. The site is running IIS on Windows Server 2003. Is there any way to get IE to give the user more information than just "cannot display the web page"? There's a "More information" button, but all it tells you is to make sure that your DNS servers are working, make sure you're not working offline, etc. :(

• Laptop and 2 screens: use screens but not monitor display

  Hi, I have 1 VGA socket on my laptop, and currently have that in use by a large screen. At some point in the future I would like to get another one of these screens and use both screens in dual screen mode but not use my laptop display (to be honest my laptop display is pretty rubbish as its like 2/3s the size of my screen - even if I had the choice to use all 3 I probably wouldn't want to). Is it possible to achieve this? If so, what do I need by way of hardware / software, and how much do you reckon it should cost me? Thanks in advance. Regards, Richard

• Virtual PC - Display Issue with Ubuntu Server

  Hi Everyone, I just did a clean install of Ubuntu Server 9.04 in Virtual PC on the Windows 7 RC, and it seems to be having a bit of an issue with the virtual machine's display adapter. I've tried setting a VGA flag in the GRUB configuration to no avail. This is a guess, but I think it has something to do with the color console mode that gets enabled by default at boot time. The system starts booting just fine (i.e. the console looks "normal" when I'm asked to enter an LVM passphrase, etc.), but then the display goes wonky after a few seconds and I end up with this. Typing commands in bash works just fine: it's not like the system is frozen or anything, I just can't see anything that I type. The console looks exactly the way it does in the image below.

  On my Ubuntu 12.04 I connected my monitor to the onboard intel graphics. I'd like to use my ati radeon 6770 for opencl tasks (e.g. bitcoin mining). So far I couldn't figure out how to get the ati driver working. When calling "aticonfig --initial -f" it always writes a new xorg.conf that ignores the intel graphics. At boot time it works only when I attached the monitor to the ati card. • Volume display for laptop missing after driver update

  I have a Dell Inspiron 1520, and I just updated my audio drivers to be able to use Stereo Mix. It's a SigmaTel audio driver. Prior to the update, whenever I used the hardware buttons to update volume or mute/unmute speakers, it would always have a nice display like this one: But, for volume instead of screen brightness. The hardware buttons still work fortunately, but the volume display is gone. Is there a place I can configure this setting and re-enable it? The speaker icon in task tray was also disabled with the update, but I re-enabled that from the Control Panel. Is this simply gone with the driver update? Thanks for the help!

• MS project publishing to TFS web portal display

  So, when we initially created our MPP schedule, I made use of indends / subordinates to break down the project by the various stages of the lifecycle, which is fine... no issues there... But now that I'm trying to publish this over to TFS display, it'll only pick up the actual "action items / sub-tasks" seeing as I have resource allocation specified. So for example I have an "Analysis" phase with a few items underneath, and "System Requirements" phase with the same items, so when I publish these to TFS, it won't display the "Parent" distinction between items, so both "Tasks" instances are being published in TFS under the exact same name... So, if I can't do this Automatically, I'll likely have edit each tasks with "Analysis - Item 1", "Analysis - item 2", "SRD - Item 1", "SRD - item 2"... is there a way to do this automatically, or will have to go the manual route??

• PC powers up but there is no display

  I built a computer with standard components I bought from Newegg about three years ago. It ran great for 2 years and has sat powered down for the last year. I tried to power it up today and the display was blank. It powers up, lights come on, drives start spinning but there is nothing on the display. I verified that the monitor and video adapter work. I also tried the video adapter in a different slot on the mother board with no luck. What's the next thing I should try? Is the mother board shot? Thanks.

  Hi Building a new pc using this motherboard: GA-MA785GMT-UD2H and a 500W power supply (1 x 20 pin & 1 x 4 pin connectors). The CPU fan, hard drive and power supply all spin up but no display on the monitor and no beeps. Have tried: taking out all of the memory and still no beeps used a different power supply and still no display I only have the Motherboard, memory, CPU, heat sink & fan & power supply connected. Any ideas? Do I have a faulty motherboard?

• How to uninstall AMD Display Driver from other install of Windows

  So my Windows 7 had a BSOD from an Ati driver file then restarting only gives me some wierd coloured lines at the top of the screen. Starting in safe mode causes the boot up to freeze at AtiPcie.sys and overlays the same coloured lines on the safe mode start up display. It seems to be a problem with the display driver but I can't get into the OS at all to uninstall it. Luckily I have an old install of Windows 7 from when I moved to a SSD still on my HDD and that runs just fine so I'm pretty sure its a software problem (Maybe the SSD corrupted a driver file or something). So does anyone know how I can uninstall the driver files from another Windows 7 install on the same PC? EDIT: What I mean is, I'm running on the broken PC right now but using a different HDD's windows install. I have full access to the not booting up OS drive with the Windows so I can delete any files/load the registry etc...

• Laptop display not working unless DVI cable is plugged in

  I have a Lenovo ThinkPad T420 with an i5 processor and integrated graphics. I dropped the laptop and now the screen is not working. I replaced the screen and it is still not working. It shows the BIOS and then at Windows login the screen gets all static looking. But if I plug in a DVI-to-HDMI cable the laptop starts and works fine. Even the external display works and the laptop display works too. As soon as I unplug the cable the screen crashes and is all static. I cannot figure out the problem. The video works because the external screen still works. How can I fix this?

  In Mac OS X, when the text for a desktop icon is particularly long, it's displayed with an ellipsis: How do I configure whatever I'm supposed to configure (Finder?) to display that and all text in full? (No ellipses, please!) Edit: I do know that you can change the icon/text/grid size to allow for more text, but I don't necessarily want to change those settings. I want to change how Apple displays the text. That is, I want it to display either as one long string (which will run into other strings if two long file/folder names are next to each other, they will appear to overlap) or word-wrapped according to the size of the grid.

• RCA monitor won't display highest resolution when NVidia drivers are installed

  My computer is a dual-monitor setup. It won't display my second monitor's highest res... In fact, it will only display one resolution. Anything higher or lower makes the monitor not show the screen. I've had this problem with this computer, and I upgraded almost all my components (cpu, RAM, mobo, and video card included) and I still have this problem with my new setup. This leads me to believe it's a problem with my monitor and the NVidia driver together. Any thoughts on what can be done? The manufacturer of the monitor doesn't make a driver for this monitor. I used to run Windows Vista and now my new setup runs Windows 7.

  I've really been struggling through this. New to Java/Android. I'm writing my first app and this is the first thing that has taken me longer than a couple days of searching to figure out. Here's the setup: It's a BAC calculator / drink counter: A formula is used to calculate the BAC. Here's the forumla: Bac = ((StandardDrinks / 2) * (GenderConstant / Weight)) - (0.017 * Hours); So as you can see, being able to modify the gender and weight will produce more accurate and personalized results. I have these things set up, but not linked to the variables shown above because I cannot for the life of me figure out how. Here they are: I press the menu button and this pops up. Great. • WPF: RenderOptions.EdgeMode="Unspecified" vs "Alias" override global setting with local setting

  Hello, in the ressource-tag of my MainWindowView.xaml I have this markup: RenderOptions.EdgeMode="Aliased" to get a general sharp look of my whole application. Using mostly rectangular shapes/controls this works fine. But for my validation error symbols I use a red ellipse with a white cross or "X" in it. The ellipse is using now the global "Aliased" settings what looks not good because I can see the pixelated border of the ellipse. Using now does NOT change anything ??? I always set in wpf local settings override global settings ?

  I have a Class Library, which inside just has a DataSet (MySQL connector) and a Connector class. I use this class in multiple projects to connect to the database, and I always had the password embedded in the connection string but now I need to be able to modify this string(for security purposes) so I can have the user connect using their own account. How can I modify this connection string. I have tried the following Properties.Settings.Default.DataBaseConnectionString = "String"; But it seems that the connection string is readonly becase it doesn't appear to have a setter value.   I have built a blog application using Ruby on Rails. In the application I have posts and tags. Post has_many :tags and Tag belongs_to :post. In the /views/posts/index.html view I want to display two things. First is a listing of all posts displayed 'created_at DESC' and then in the side bar I am wanting to reference my Tags table, group records, and display as a link that allows for viewing all posts with that tag. With the code below, I am able to display the tag groups and succesfully display all posts with that tag. There are two problems with it thought. /posts view, the code seems to be referencing the Tag table and displaying the post multiple times, directly correlated to how many tags that post has. (i.e. if the post has 3 tags it will display the post 3 times). /posts view, only displays posts that have Tags. • Get UiBinder widget to display inline instead of block

  I'm trying to get my UiBinder-defined widget to display inline, but I can't. My current code is: <ui:UiBinder xmlns:ui='urn:ui:com.google.gwt.uibinder' xmlns:g='urn:import:com.google.gwt.user.client.ui'> <ui:style> .section { border: 1px solid #000000; width: 330px; padding: 5px; display: run-in; } </ui:style> <g:HTMLPanel> <div class="{style.section}"> <div ui:field="titleSpan" class="{style.title}" /> <div class="{style.contents}"> <g:VerticalPanel ui:field="messagesPanel" /> </div> </div> </g:HTMLPanel> </ui:UiBinder> This works fine in terms of how the widget looks internally, but I want to throw a bunch of these widgets into a FlowPanel and have them flow when the window is resized. The HTMLPanel is a div, but I can't get the display attribute to assign. I can't force the style name, since the following throws an error: <g:HTMLPanel styleNames="{style.section}"> And I can assign an additional style, but it doesn't apply the display setting. <g:HTMLPanel addStyleNames="{style.section}"> This displays the border and sets the size, as expected, but it doesn't flow. Firebug shows the styles on the div are border, width, and padding, but no display. Is there a way to make a widget in UiBinder so that it'll display inline instead of block? And if so, can I make it compatible with having a VerticalPanel inside (can I do it without making the entire widget pure HTML without any GWT widgets)? PS: I saw question 2257924 but it hasn't had any answers lately, and he seems to be focused on getting a tag, not specifically getting inline layout. I don't care directly about , if I can just get the top-level tag for my widget to flow inline, I'm happy.
