Using DockPanel Suite's XML saving with My.Settings

In vb.net, how can I use SaveAsXML and LoadFromXML (DockPanel Suite functions) with My.Settings? I know there is a way to save it to a stream, but I don't know enough about System.IO to do this. DockPanel Suite: http://sourceforge.net/projects/dockpanelsuite/ I would very much prefer to store configuration using My.Settings instead of as an XML file. Thanks for the help! EDIT: Since the only person to answer so far has since deleted their answer, I feel I should explain further: Those two methods can both accept a stream object, but I have not used System.IO enough to know how to properly initialize a stream, let alone get a string out of a stream. I have some JSF code that currently works (as shown below), and I need to modify it to conditionally suppress the display of certain rows of the table. I know how to conditionally suppress the display of a particular cell, but that seems to create an empty cell, while what I'm trying to do is to not display the row at all. ie7 innerhtml strange display problem

Hello, I am having a strange problem with ie7 (ie8 in compatibility mode). I have div containers where I am updating values using javascript innhtml to update the values. This works fine in Firefox and ie8. In ie7 the values do not update but if a click on the values and highlight them then they update, also if a change the height of the browser then on the next update the values get updated correctly. I have figured out that if I change the position property of the outer div container from relative to static then the updates work correctly. The page can be viewed here http://islendingasogur.net/test/webmap_html_test.html In internet explorer 8 with compatibility turned on you can see that the timestamp in the gray box only gets updated one time, after that you see no changes. The timestamp in the lower right corner gets updated every 10 seconds. But if you highlight the text in the gray box then the updated timestamp values appears! Why does Java read its default settings from the system

Java is reading the locale, timezone and encoding information (and perhaps more) from the system it is installed on. This often brings bad surprises (brought me one just yesterday). Say your development and production servers are set to have TimeZone GMT+2. Then you deploy on a production server set to GMT. a 2-hour shift may not be easy to observe immediately. And although you can pass a TimeZone to your calendars, APIs might be instantiating calendars (or dates) using the default timezone. Now, I know one should be careful with these settings, but are easy to miss, hence make programs more error-prone. So, why doesn't Java have its own defaults - UTF-8, GMT, en_US (yes, I'm on non-en_US locale, but having it as default is fine). Applications could read the system settings via some API, if needed. Thus programs would be more predictable. So, what is the reason behind this decision?

As #content's width is variable (depending on the width of the window), how to I make it so that the sidebar is always at the right-most part of its parent? Ex. Javascript won't overwrite CSS display property.

I have a DIV that is set do display:none from CSS and it's supposed to be made visible (style.display = '';) at some point by javascript. The problem is that if I put the display:none in the CSS file the javascript does not seem to have any effect. I have also tried changing the background color instead of the display property, and that works. I have the code running here (just press the edit link). I really thank you for taking the time to look into this.

hi, I've a problem to configure database settings in Drupal. I will propose here some sample data: Database Mysql: Database: databaseName User: user Password: password Server: server.com Server Choice: mysqldb2 (in phpmyadmin I have this option and I can choose between mysqldb1 and mysqldb2 to access to the mysql server) The error message I get is: The mysql error was: Access denied for user: 'user@localhost' (Using password: YES). I've tried the following lines in settings.php but I always get the same error message: $db_url = 'mysql://user:password@localhost/databaseName'; $db_url = 'mysql://user:password@localhost/databaseName/mysqldb2'; The user and password work in phpmyadmin so I'm sure they are correct. thanks

Hello All, I am working on Image Viewer application and planning to build in WPF. My Image size are usually larger than 3000x3500. After searching for week, I got sample code from MSDN. But it is written in ATL COM. So I am planning to work and build the Image viewer as follows: After reading the Image I will scale down to my viewer size, viwer is around 1000x1000. Lets call this Image Data as Display Data. Once displaying this data, I will work only this Display data. For all Image processing operation, I will use this display data and when user choose to save the image, I will apply all the operation to original Image data. My question is, Is is ok to use Display data for showing and initial image processing operations.

Hi, I'm trying to figure out the right way to display comments such that newlines and links are displayed. I know that usually, you should display user-inputs only when escaping html with h(). That of course won't display newlines or links, so I found the simple_format and auto_link methods. Hi, I am using Watin mostly to automate thing I do by hand. Sometimes, I need to change proxy. To do this, I have to set up IE to use a local proxy all the time (listens locally and forwards to a remote porxy), and then by hand change the settings of that program each time I need to use another proxy. This is not an elegant solution! It may work, but it is not nice. So, my question is, how do I change programmatically IE settings while using Watin? I code in VB.NET. Thank you

Hi all, I want to edit the timeout value of 'Time to display recovery options when needed' without using the UI display option. To navigate, Right click on 'Mycomputer' - Properties - Advanced tab - click on SETTINGS of 'Startup and recovery' = 2nd displayed check box. The value thought to be in c:\boot.ini file, but it has value of other timeout 'Time to display other operating systems'. After some searching, i found that 'c:\windows\bootstat.dat' file holds the timeout value for 'Time to display recovery options when needed'... but, i am not able to decode the .dat file or edit that file.. any suggestions would he helpful for me.. Localizing other pages in Settings.bundle

I have other pages within my app preferences which are stored as separate files within the settings.bundle. It has come time to localize my app and I can only seem to get the Root values to localize. I was wondering whether there was a trick? The following image shows that my second screen is stored within a file called "MyPrefs.plist" and I have created a corresponding named file "MyPrefs.strings" in the en.lproj directory. Mirroring the same naming and location as the Root.plist and Root.strings. The values with the Root.plist are converted as expected but not in the extra screen. Is there any trick to localizing secondary screens with the settings.bundle?
