  according to http://java.sun.com/javase/6/webnotes/trouble/TSG-VM/html/clopts.html it should be possible to enable -XX:+HeapDumpOnOutOfMemoryError using JConsole in runtime. How? I assume its somewhere under MBeans tab and the com.sun.management - HotSpotDiagnostic - Operations - setVMOptions ?

I seem to remember reading some hack to get it look like the native widget but searching for it know i can't seem to find it again i came across posts that suggest using java.awt.FileChooser but that class does not seem to be in the distribution.   I'm loading pixels from an image which is 32 w by 32 height. The format I'm loading them in is ARGB via java. When I bind this to the video card, I can expect that the video card might use somewhere around 32*32*4 bytes, or 4K. Similarly, 1024 w, 1024 h would be 1024*1024*4 = 4MB. Is my understanding correct? Now I understand where all the memory goes!

• JSplitPane SetDividerLocation Problem

  I have a JSplitPane which when shown should split the pane by 50%. Now on giving an argument of 0.5 (as suggested) to setDividerLocation, Java seems to treat it as a normal number instead of a percentage. As in, the divider, instead of going to the middle of the pane, is almost at the start of the left pane (the pane is vertically split). Any work arounds?

  I try to play with sockets a bit. For that I wrote very simple "client" and "server" applications. Connection is successfully established (client stops running and server is running). Then I close the server and start it again in a second. After that I start a client and it writes "Connection Refused". It seems to me that the server "remember" the old connection and does not want to open the second connection twice. But I do not understand how it is possible. Because I killed the previous server and started a new one! I do not start the server immediately after the previous one was killed (I wait like 20 seconds). In this case the server "forget" the socket from the previous server and accepts the request from the client. I start the server and then I start the client. Connection is established (server writes: "A client-request is accepted"). Then I wait a minute and start the client again. And server (which was running the whole time) accept the request again! Why? The server should not accept the request from the same client-IP and client-port but it does!

Is there a way to "force" the executor to put the new task in a "wait" status instead of rejecting it and starting it when the pool is freed ? • Swing UI does not have native OS look

  I am building an application in java swing and I am using the following code to give the UI a native OS look try { UIManager.setLookAndFeel( UIManager.getSystemLookAndFeelClassName()); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } On a OS X, the look is fine, but on windows (XP and 7) the buttons look like this. I have used this exact same code on other projects and it works fine. But in this particular project I get a completely different look. Thanks in advance!
