  • UIView viewWithTag 0 problem

    - by leon
Hi, On view in IB I have numerous items (including view itself). ONLY one item has tag 0, yet following line works for ANY UITextBox other then the one with tag 0. Note that only ONE UITextBox has tag 0, why: (UITextField *) [self.view viewWithTag:0]).text = @"foo"; Interesting that when triggered event received for the element with tag 0, I can get value of Tag 0 with no problem. Is there a limitation to look for tag 0 elements?

  • How do I use a default setting from Root.plist?

    - by crooksy88
I have set up a default setting for my app using Root.plist, giving this a Boolean DefaultValue of YES (ticked checkbox). You can see a screengrab at http://www.infin8design.com/clients/stack/plist.png However, when my app is first launched, the YES value is not picked up, and the setting is read as a NO (or 0). The user has to manually go into the settings app, turn the toggleswitch off, then turn it back on again for this setting to hold a YES(1) value. I'm logging the value with appDidFinishLaunching like this. - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { NSUserDefaults *defaults = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]; NSLog(@"%d",[defaults boolForKey:@"include_phrases"]); SO... my question is... How do I pick up this initial default setting without the user having to set it manually? Thanks in advance for any suggestions you can offer. Mark

  • I want to crop an image, draw a smaller size image without caching the images.... What is the best w

    - by rkbang
Hello all, I am storing the images in database. I get the NSData and create an image from it. Now I want to crop or draw a smaller image of the existing image in database which I am getting from the querry. I dont want to cache the images since I am using them in bulk and want to release them as soon as the view being displayed where the images are used is popped up. Is there any efficient solution to make sure that images dont consume memory at the background once their use is over... I will appreciate the lines of code for this. Tnx in advance.

  • I am getting duplicates in UITableView, cellForRowAtIndexPath

    - by Martol1ni
I am getting duplicates of my array, and wrongly displayed cells in this method: Here I am initializing the array, and adding it to the tableView: NSArray *sectionsArray = [NSArray arrayWithObjects: @"Location", @"Front Post", @"Front Fixing", @"Front Footplate", @"Rear Post", @"Read Fixing", @"Rear Footplate", @"Horizontal Bracing", @"Diagonal Bracing", @"Front Beam", @"Front Lock", @"Rear Beam", @"Rear Lock", @"Guard", @"Accessories", @"Comments", @"Off load ref", @"Loc Empty", @"Loc Affected", nil]; [_tableArray setObject:sectionsArray atIndexedSubscript:2]; [_tableView reloadData]; For some weird reason there are always the 4th object that is messed up, and is either duplicated, or do not have the views from IB. Here is the cellForRowAtIndexPath: method: - (UITableViewCell *) tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { UITableViewCell *cell; if (indexPath.section == 2) { cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:@"EntryCell"]; cell.tag = indexPath.row; UILabel *label = (UILabel *)[cell viewWithTag:3]; [label setText:[[_tableArray objectAtIndex:2] objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]]; } return cell; } I have logged the string [[_tableArray objectAtIndex:2] objectAtIndex:indexPath.row], and it logs the right string.

  • AppDelegate, RootViewController, and UIApplication

    - by guy8214
Hi Guys I am trying to figure out the relationship between the appdelegate, RootViewControoler, and UIApplication. Here is what I kinda have figured out so far: When starting your application up, main.m gets loaded. From here, your MainWindow.xib gets loaded. In your MainWindow.xib, your File's Owner is of type UIApplication. You set your UIApplication's delegate to your AppDelegate. In your AppDelegate's source code, you can set your RootViewController to be the first view shown. Is this right? What prompts AppDelegate to initially run it's - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { } method?

  • UITableView with sectionIndexTitle bugs on rotation

    - by Toto
Hi everyone, I have a UITableView with a sectionIndexTitles, and when I do a rotation, some cells are displayed like if I were on the previous orientation. When I don't have sectionIndexTitles, there is no problem. Is it just a bug in a library, or is there a secret tip I don't know to fix it ? Tank you

  • Save many-to-one relationship from JSON into Core Data

    - by Snow Crash
I'm wanting to save a Many-to-one relationship parsed from JSON into Core Data. The code that parses the JSON and does the insert into Core Data looks like this: for (NSDictionary *thisRecipe in recipes) { Recipe *recipe = [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"Recipe" inManagedObjectContext:insertionContext]; recipe.title = [thisRecipe objectForKey:@"Title"]; NSDictionary *ingredientsForRecipe = [thisRecipe objectForKey:@"Ingredients"]; NSArray *ingredientsArray = [ingredientsForRecipe objectForKey:@"Results"]; for (NSDictionary *thisIngredient in ingredientsArray) { Ingredient *ingredient = [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"Ingredient" inManagedObjectContext:insertionContext]; ingredient.name = [thisIngredient objectForKey:@"Name"]; } } NSSet *ingredientsSet = [NSSet ingredientsArray]; [recipe setIngredients:ingredientsSet]; Notes: "setIngredients" is a Core Data generated accessor method. There is a many-to-one relationship between Ingredients and Recipe However, when I run this I get the following error: NSCFDictionary managedObjectContext]: unrecognized selector sent to instance If I remove the last line (i.e. [recipe setIngredients:ingredientsSet];) then, taking a peek at the SQLite database, I see the Recipe and Ingredients have been stored but no relationship has been created between Recipe and Ingredients Any suggestions as to how to ensure the relationship is stored correctly?

  • Using CCSpriteFrameCache without CCSpriteBatchNode

    - by AwDogsGo2Heaven
I want to know if there is any benefiting caching a sprite sheet and accessing the sprite by frame without using the CCSpriteBatchNode? In some parts of my game the sprite batch node is useful because there is a lot on the screen, however on another part its not, because there are just a few things, and there are requirements for layers so CCSpriteBatchNode wouldn't be useful. However, for the sake of consistency I would like to use Sprite Sheets for all my sprites, and so was beginning to wonder if I would still receive any benefit from it? (Or worse that it could some how be slower...)

  • Grouped table with image in first row (and section), the remaining ones having text with different l

    - by Structurer
Hi I have a grouped table with two sections where I display text with different length and therefore cell height. I have solved the problem with the different length/height with constrainedToSize in cellForRowAtIndexPath. Now I want to add a section with one single row in which I want to show a picture. How should I best implement that? (still a bit of a beginner with the Objective C) I would guess that I would have to create an UIImageView and somehow link that to the cell, but my biggest concern is how do I do with the dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier now that I will have two different type of cells? Appreciate any advice that will help me save time from trial and error!

  • How do I get a reference to a rootViewController to a sub-view?

    - by Andy
An answer posted for one of my previous questions brings up another question; I am calling a new view controller, "RuleBuilder," from my rootViewController. The rootViewController holds a reference to a contacts array. How do I get a reference to that array into the RuleBuilder? I tried adding UITableViewController *rootViewController; ... @property (nonatomic, retain) UITableViewController *rootViewController; to RuleBuilder.h, and then @synthesize rootViewController; in RuleBuilder.m. When I instantiate and push the RuleBuilder from within rootViewController, I do this: ruleBuilder.rootViewController = self; But when I try this [rootViewController.contacts addObject:newContact]; from within RuleBuilder, I get a compiler error to the effect of "request for 'contacts' in something not a struct" (or very similar; I haven't implemented this exact snippet of code, but I tried an identical approach not an hour ago for a couple of different references that I never was able to get working). Thanks, again, for your help.

  • My iOS app has a + in its name. Bundle is invalid due to this. Need help resolving

    - by d.altman
I did find a couple of very similar or identical threads here but they seemed to end before full resolution. My app runs fine on my device with no build error. I am trying to submit app for approval and I get the following error, "This bundle is invalid. The executable name, as reported by CFBundleExecutable in the info.plist file may not contain any of these characters ..... +". So I opened my info.plist file and changed the info.plist file executable name from the macro ${EXECUTABLE_NAME} to the name of my app without the +. I did a new archive but then get an error saying the "codesign failed with exit code 1". In another thread I read to just change targets name removing the + from there and leaving the info.plist file with the macro for the executable name, restarting Xcode and then archiving again. That allowed me to archive but I received the same error in iTunes Connect. I have been working on this all day and don't find the solution. Can anyone please point me in the right direction? Thank you for any help.

  • Unsure how i load the right data into a tableview, chosen from a previous tableview.

    - by Bob
I currently have two TableViewControllers. The first has seven objects, each day-name listed. Weekdays *mandag = [[Weekdays alloc] initWithName:@"Mandag" daylist:mondayArray]; Weekdays *tirsdag = [[Weekdays alloc] initWithName:@"Tirsdag" daylist:tuesdayArray]; Weekdays *onsdag = [[Weekdays alloc] initWithName:@"Onsdag" daylist:wedensdayArray]; Weekdays *torsdag = [[Weekdays alloc] initWithName:@"Torsdag" daylist:thursdayArray]; Weekdays *fredag = [[Weekdays alloc] initWithName:@"Fredag" daylist:fridayArray]; Weekdays *lordag = [[Weekdays alloc] initWithName:@"Lørdag" daylist:saturdayArray]; Weekdays *sondag = [[Weekdays alloc] initWithName:@"Søndag" daylist:sundayArray]; daylist being a NSMutableArray. The idea is: The name of the day is displayed on table-1. And the array (daylist) of each day is displayed on table-2 - when tabbed one a day. The first table, displaying the names is working fine: VisueltSkemaAppDelegate *appDelegate = (VisueltSkemaAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; Weekdays *ugeDag = (Weekdays *)[appDelegate.ugeDage objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; cell.textLabel.text = ugeDag.name; return cell; However i thought i could do the same, for the second table - but i have been strugling with it for hours now. This is what i got: VisueltSkemaAppDelegate *appDelegate = (VisueltSkemaAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; Weekdays *ugeDag = (Weekdays *)[appDelegate.ugeDage objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; cell.textLabel.text = [ugeDag.daylist objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; return cell; Abit more of the code: http://pastebin.com/iW5AAJXt

  • How do I find what text/HTML is on screen in a UIWebview?

    - by Grant M
I would like to know what the first piece of text/html that is currently showing on screen, or more generally where in pixel location a particular tag or piece of text is in the UIWebview. I know that I can use window.pageYOffset to get the scroll position of the UIwebview, but how do I find out what text or HTML item is there?

  • Highlight table view cells when user drags across rows

    - by chronos
I have a grouped table view that does not need to scroll. I'd like each cell to highlight as the user moves their finger down the screen and call didSelectRowAtIndexPath on release. This behaviour can be seen done by apple in 'settings mail add account'? I can't seem to replicate it myself, all I can get is the default, where the cell deselects as soon as the user moves their finger.

  • Portrait vs Landscape Launch Images

    - by andrewx
An iPad app can support inclusion of launch images in both orientations; presumably, if your app supports auto-rotation, then this would suggest to me that if the user launches an app while the device is in Landscape mode, then the Landscape launch image is used. But in all the apps I've built and released, this has never been the case. Never once has the Landscape launch image appeared, only the Portrait. After loading, the app will auto-rotate to whatever orientation the device is in, but at launch, it assumes you are in Portrait. Always. Why? I have seen many other apps in the store that behave this way, but then there are some seem to always automatically know immediately at first launch, from that first launch image, that you are in Landscape, if that's the case. How is this done?

  • UITextField with numbers and default keyboard

    - by n35
Created a UITextField for "Postal Code/ZIP" field with a keyboardType of UIKeyboardTypeDefault. I would like to use the default keyboard but want the numbers & symbols to be shown by default as apposed to letters. Apple does this when you are entering addresses in the Contacts.app. Anyone know how to get this accomplished?
