    I want to view .docx file and .doc file in my mac os x10.6.5.When i open this type of file it shows only text in text editor.The docx file has some more images i didnt able to see.   • Deleted user default database - SQL Server 2008

    Hi folks, I cannot connect to the database anymore, I'm getting: Cannot open user default database. Login failed. I have deleted the database during a previous session and then tried to recreate it. But the recreate failed. Now I am stuck with this error, what can I do? Edit: I'm using Windows Authentication Any ideas? Fixed: use the command: sqlcmd -E -d master then type: ALTER LOGIN [Your Windows Login] WITH DEFAULT_DATABASE=master GO :)

  • Mac OS X Terminal not logging in

    I am running Mac OS X version 10.6.3 and when I open the terminal (with terminal.app or iterm) it just hangs on the login process. I've tried restarting, changing the startup command to /bin/bash, and deleting the terminal preference file. All to no avail.

  • Issues connection to Ubuntu via PuTTy

    I'm not sure this is the appropriate stack exchange site to post this question on. If not, please flag this for migration. I am trying to use PuTTy ssh into my ubuntu machine which is wirelessly connected to the same network. I originally ran ifconfig to get my ubuntu machines private network IP address. I then verified that ssh was running, I even ssh'd into my school network and then into the ubuntu machine itself. No problems yet. On my windows 8 machine I ran ipconfig to get my private network IPv4 address. I then pinged my ubunty machines IP and 100% of packets were received. I figured, "OK we are ready to use PuTTy to connect to my Ubuntu Machine". Keep in mind this was my first time using PuTTy. I tried entering the IP of my ubuntu machine in the PuTTy Config GUI but I got a connection timeout. At this moment I don't really know what's going on, SSH is running on port 22 of my Ubuntu machine and I can ping the machine why is it not connecting? (I tried [username]@ip too). So I went on my Ubuntu machine and ran nmap -sP 192.168.0.1/24 and found that my windows machines IP did not show up, the host is down. I'm at a lost in something I am not very familiar with. Would anyone be able to help me or direct me to some resources that would trouble shoot my problem?   • OpenFiler cannot delete volume group

    I have deleted all the ingredients of a volume group even access options, but it still says that the Volume Group is in use. I tried to close everything including the OpenFiler itself but when I open it, it still says the volume is in use. How can I overcome this problem ? Thanks

  • Differences between "apache"'s installations

    Using Ubuntu 12.04, are there any differences between installing Apache httpd using sudo apt-get install apache2 (as the guide of Ubuntu says - https://help.ubuntu.com/12.04/serverguide/httpd.html ) or following the steps on the Apache documentation (http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/install.html#overview)? I tried both ways; in the first case (using apt-get) the server seems to work - I open a browser page and I got it. In the second case I need other packages (apr, apr-util and pcre) and so I abandoned the attempt.

  • Real-time log parsing and reporting

    We have a small project we are working on part-time that runs on Nginx/MongoDB on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Server. We'd like to be able to see reports on things like server load, requests/sec, response time, DB load, DB response time, etc. Is there an open source or free (as in beer) tool that can parse such logs and provide a real-time report? I looked into Splunk briefly, but I wanted to see if there are any others that are highly recommended.

    I asked this question here, but it turns out the issue is in our server configuration. The .vbs script has been reduced to the following: Dim http Set http = CreateObject("MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP") http.Open "GET" , "http://google.com", False http.Send This triggers the same error message every time: msxml3.dll: A security problem occurred. The permissions on the .dll are set correctly, and nothing else should be preventing access to that file, so what could be causing the problem?

  • gvim Cannot make changes, 'modifiable' is off issues with file explorer.

    In gvim using netrw(the file explorer), I usually middle click a file to open it in the last active window. This just leads to an error stating "Cannot make changes, 'modifiable' is off". Another middle click, and the file opens fine where I expect it to. All buffers are saved, there's no uncommuted changes anywhere. What causes this, and what can I do about it ?     Often times I'll click on a random link to a .sh or .py or .cpp or ... file in Firefox, and all I want is to view the code. I don't have a Firefox handler set up for every text file extension under the sun, and I don't want to have to. Is there an easy way to force Firefox to view the file as text instead of trying to save (or open in external app)?

  • How do you use 4GB of RAM?

    I have a Quad Core Intel PC with 4GB of RAM - I've been using it over a year to run web server stress tests (ab.exe -n 5000 -c 500), encode HD video, play games, open hundreds of tabs in multiple browsers (simultaneously), worked on multi-layered +8000px art in photoshop and just about every other thing you can think of. As of yet I've never passed 2.3GB of RAM usage. How in the world do you use all 4GB? Is there any use for it?

  • Major computer speed problems

    I've been running Windows 7 on my laptop for about a year now, and have had no issues regarding speed. About a month ago, my computer had what I refer to now as an "episode" where it runs extremely slow, when I open Task Manager I see no significant processes running, nothing out of the ordinary, but my computer is at 100% CPU usage. Usually restarting fixed this problem, but it seems to have gotten worse to the point where restarting does not fix this problem, and it's interfering with my work. What should I do?
