  • [PHP] using the magic __set() method with 2D arrays

    - by Spoonface
If I have the following registry class: Class registry { private $_vars; public function __construct() { $this->_vars = array(); } public function __set($key, $val) { $this->_vars[$key] = $val; } public function __get($key) { if (isset($this->_vars[$key])) return $this->_vars[$key]; } public function printAll() { print "<pre>".print_r($this->_vars,true)."</pre>"; } } $reg = new registry(); $reg->arr = array(1,2,3); $reg->arr = array_merge($reg->arr,array(4)); $reg->printAll(); Would there be an easier way to push a new item onto the 'arr' array? This code: 'array[] = item' doesn't work with the magic set method, and I couldn't find any useful info with google. Thanks for your time!

  • Java: Selected rows's index does not changes when I sort them!

    - by adrian7
Hello, I have a Jtable on which I called the method table1.setAutoCreateRowSorter(true);. So this works on well. But I also have a methos in my JFrame class which is fired when i push a button. It gets the selected rows indexes using this code int selectedRows[] = this.table1.getSelectedRows();. And displays an edit window for the first row corresponding in the selected interval. The problem is that if I don't click on column's headers (I mean i don't sorte them at all) my method works perfect. But when I sort the row, the indexes of the rows doesn't seems to change at all - thus resulting an edit window for the old row whicn was initially in that position before making any sort. I am using JDK 6 could anyonw give ma a tip?

  • Same Activity called twice... Issue with Multiple AsyncTasks?

    - by stormin986
I have three simultaneous instances of an AsyncTask for download three files. When two particular ones finish, at the end of onPostExecute() I check a flag set by each, and if both are true, I call startActivity() for the next Activity. I am currently seeing the activity called twice, or something that resembles this type of behavior. Since the screen does that 'swipe left' kind of transition to the next activity, it sometimes does it twice (and when I hit back, it goes back to the same activity). It's obvious two versions of the activity that SHOULD only get called once are being put on the Activity stack. Could this be from both onPostExecute()s executing simultaneously and both checking the flags each other set at the exact same time? This seems extremely unlikely since two processes would have to be running line-by-line in parallel... *EDIT* A lot removed from this question since I was way off in what I thought was wrong. Nonetheless I found the answer here quite useful, so I have edited the question to reflect the useful parts.

  • Rails ActiveRecord- has_many through and belongs_to a related model

    - by Nick
I have 3 models sites, user_favorites and users. Relevant relationships: class Site < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :users, :through => :user_favorites class UserFavorite < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :user, :counter_cache => true belongs_to :site end class User < ActiveRecord:Base has_many :user_favorites has_many :sites, :through => :user_favorites All of that works just fine. I'd like to add a new attribute to the Site model to indicate which user created it. I don't believe this constitutes a has_and_belongs_to_many scenario. A site has many users through user_favorites but I want it to belong to a single user reflecting the owner/creator. I'm wondering what the ORM best practice is for this. SQL wise I'd just use different joins depending on what I was trying to query with a created_by FK in Site. Sorry if I'm missing something basic here. Thanks

  • Flex HDividedBox prevent dragging

    - by Jeremy Mitchell
I'd love to be able to prevent dragging of a HDividedBox's divider based on a condition. for example: <mx:HDividedBox id="hd1" liveDragging="true" dividerDrag="dividerDragHandler(event)"> <Canvas id="c1"/> <Canvas id="c2"/> </HDividedBox> private function dividerDragHandler(event:DividerEvent):void { if (_something 10) { event.preventDefault(); } } Any ideas how I can do something like that? And I'd rather not mess with the widths of the child canvases. Thanks.

  • What information do you capture your software crashes in the field?

    - by Russ
I am working on rewriting my unexpected error handling process, and I would like to ask the community: What information do you capture both automatic, and manually, when software you have written crashes? Right now, I capture a few items, some of which are: Automatic: Name of app that crashed Version of app that crashed Stack trace Operating System version RAM used by the application Number of processors Screen shot: (Only on non-public applications) User name and contact information (from Active Directory) Manual: What context is the user in (i.e.: what company, tech support call number, RA number, etc...) When did the user expect to happen? (Typical response: "Not to crash”) Steps to reproduce. What other bits of information do you capture that helps you discover the true cause of an applications problem, especially given that most users simply mash the keyboard when asked to tell you what happened. For the record I’m using C#, WPF and .NET version 4, but I don’t necessarily want to limit myself to those. • What is the purpose of OCaml's Lazy.lazy_from_val?

    - by Ricardo
The doc of Lazy.lazy_from_val states that this function is for special cases: val lazy_from_val : 'a -> 'a t lazy_from_val v returns an already-forced suspension of v This is for special purposes only and should not be confused with lazy (v). Which cases are they talking about? If I create a pair of suspended computation from a value like: let l1 = lazy 123 let l2 = Lazy.lazy_from_val 123 What is the difference between these two? Because Lazy.lazy_is_val l1 and Lazy.lazy_is_val l2 both return true saying that the value is already forced!

  • Getting the date object to work in IE6 (w/ YYYY-MM-DD param)?

    - by J. LaRosee
I just got IE6 sprung on me for a project that is going out into the wild soon, which means it's time to go back and comb through all of the CSS and JS. I've gotten hung up on the date object, however: $.validator.addMethod("dateRange", function() { var today = new Date(); var event_date_raw = $('#event_date').val(); var event_date_parts = event_date_raw.split("-"); var event_date = new Date( event_date_parts[2]+","+event_date_parts[1]+","+event_date_parts[0] ); if( event_date.getTime() >= today.getTime() ) return true; return false; }, "Please specify a correct date:"); event_date.getTime() is returning "NaN" in IE6 so the validation fails. The event_raw_date is in the YYYY-MM-DD format, which date doesn't seem to mind in every other browser... Thoughts?

  • Learning OpenGL ES 1.x

    - by Kristopher Johnson
What is the quickest way to come up to speed on OpenGL ES 1.x? Let's assume I know nothing about OpenGL (which is not entirely true, but it's been a while since I last used OpenGL). I am most interested in learning this for iPhone-related development, but I'm interested in learning how it works on other platforms as well. I've found the book OpenGL ES 2.0 Programming Guide, but I am concerned that it might not be the best approach because it focuses on 2.0 rather than 1.x. My understanding is that 2.0 is not backwards-compatible with 1.x, so I may miss out on some important concepts. Note: For answers about learning general OpenGL, see http://stackoverflow.com/questions/62540/learning-opengl Some resources I've found: http://khronos.org/opengles/1_X/ http://www.imgtec.com/powervr/insider/sdk/KhronosOpenGLES1xMBX.asp OpenGL Distilled by Paul Martz (a good refresher on OpenGL basics)

  • Closing a dialog form closes the application

    - by user361633
bool CheckAnswer() { DialogForm dialogForm = new DialogForm(); if (dialogForm.showDialog() == System.Windows.Forms.DialogResult.OK) return true; } The dialog form is invoked by a form created in the main form. When i close the dialog form the application is closed, not just the dialog form! If i invoke the dialog form in other form it works normally. The form from which i invoke the dialog form is top level, but even if i change that i'm getting the same result. Does anyone know what's wrong?

  • Should I use a global var or call the function every time? C++

What's the best option from a performance point of view.

  • Bash: infinite sleep

    - by watain
I use startx to start X which will evaluate my .xinitrc. In my .xinitrc I start my window manager using /usr/bin/mywm. Now, if I kill my WM (in order to f.e. test some other WM), X will terminate too because the .xinitrc script reached EOF. So I added this at the end of my .xinitrc: while true; do sleep 10000; done This way X won't terminate if I kill my WM. Now my question: how can I do an infinite sleep instead of looping sleep? Is there a command which will kinda like freeze the script? Best regards

When I view the website in browser, I get the server not found error. I debugged the EfDbContext class and found that the Database.Connection.ConnectionString is set to \SqlExpress with database as EfDbContext. Why is that?

  • Qt C++ signals and slots did not fire

    - by Xegara
I have programmed Qt a couple of times already and I really like the signals and slots feature. But now, I guess I'm having a problem when a signal is emitted from one thread, the corresponding slot from another thread is not fired. The connection was made in the main program. This is also my first time to use Qt for ROS which uses CMake. The signal fired by the QThread triggered their corresponding slots but the emitted signal of my class UserInput did not trigger the slot in tflistener where it supposed to. I have tried everything I can. Any help? The code is provided below. Main.cpp #include <QCoreApplication> #include <QThread> #include "userinput.h" #include "tfcompleter.h" int main(int argc, char** argv) { QCoreApplication app(argc, argv); QThread *thread1 = new QThread(); QThread *thread2 = new QThread(); UserInput *input1 = new UserInput(); TfCompleter *completer = new TfCompleter(); QObject::connect(input1, SIGNAL(togglePause2()), completer, SLOT(toggle())); QObject::connect(thread1, SIGNAL(started()), completer, SLOT(startCounting())); QObject::connect(thread2, SIGNAL(started()), input1, SLOT(start())); completer->moveToThread(thread1); input1->moveToThread(thread2); thread1->start(); thread2->start(); app.exec(); return 0; } What I want to do is.. There are two seperate threads. One thread is for the user input. When the user enters [space], the thread emits a signal to toggle the boolean member field of the other thread. The other thread 's task is to just continue its process if the user wants it to run, otherwise, the user does not want it to run. I wanted to grant the user to toggle the processing anytime that he wants, that's why I decided to bring them into seperate threads. The following codes are the tflistener and userinput. tfcompleter.h #ifndef TFCOMPLETER_H #define TFCOMPLETER_H #include <QObject> #include <QtCore> class TfCompleter : public QObject { Q_OBJECT private: bool isCount; public Q_SLOTS: void toggle(); void startCounting(); }; #endif tflistener.cpp #include "tfcompleter.h" #include <iostream> void TfCompleter::startCounting() { static uint i = 0; while(true) { if(isCount) std::cout << i++ << std::endl; } } void TfCompleter::toggle() { // isCount = ~isCount; std::cout << "isCount " << std::endl; } UserInput.h #ifndef USERINPUT_H #define USERINPUT_H #include <QObject> #include <QtCore> class UserInput : public QObject { Q_OBJECT public Q_SLOTS: void start(); // Waits for the keypress from the user and emits the corresponding signal. public: Q_SIGNALS: void togglePause2(); }; #endif UserInput.cpp #include "userinput.h" #include <iostream> #include <cstdio> // Implementation of getch #include <termios.h> #include <unistd.h> /* reads from keypress, doesn't echo */ int getch(void) { struct termios oldattr, newattr; int ch; tcgetattr( STDIN_FILENO, &oldattr ); newattr = oldattr; newattr.c_lflag &= ~( ICANON | ECHO ); tcsetattr( STDIN_FILENO, TCSANOW, &newattr ); ch = getchar(); tcsetattr( STDIN_FILENO, TCSANOW, &oldattr ); return ch; } void UserInput::start() { char c = 0; while (true) { c = getch(); if (c == ' ') { Q_EMIT togglePause2(); std::cout << "SPACE" << std::endl; } c = 0; } } Here is the CMakeLists.txt. • In DOM is it OK to use .notation for getting/setting attributes?

    - by Ziggy
Hi In DOM, is it OK to refer to an element's attributes like this: var universe = document.getElementById('universe'); universe.origin = 'big_bang'; universe.creator = null; universe.style.deterministic = true; ? My deep respect for objects and their privacy, and my sense that things might go terribly wrong if I am not careful, makes me want to do everything more like this: var universe = document.getElementById('universe'); if(universe.hasAttribute('origin')) then universe.origin = 'big_bang'; etc... Is it really necessary to use those accessor methods? Of course it may be more or less necessary depending on how certain I am that the elements I am manipulating will have the attributes I expect them to, but in general do the DOM guys consider it OK to use .notation rather than getters and setters? Thanks!

  • Is there a linear-time performance guarantee with using an Iterator?

    - by polygenelubricants
If all that you're doing is a simple one-pass iteration (i.e. only hasNext() and next(), no remove()), are you guaranteed linear time performance and/or amortized constant cost per operation? Is this specified in the Iterator contract anywhere? Are there data structures/Java Collection which cannot be iterated in linear time? java.util.Scanner implements Iterator<String>. A Scanner is hardly a data structure (e.g. remove() makes absolutely no sense). Is this considered a design blunder? Is something like PrimeGenerator implements Iterator<Integer> considered bad design, or is this exactly what Iterator is for? (hasNext() always returns true, next() computes the next number on demand, remove() makes no sense). Similarly, would it have made sense for java.util.Random implements Iterator<Double>?

  • Set a js variable in a html include

I have a ASP.NET page that uses the include method for header. I am adding a JS variable that I access from JS functions In head.htm <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> var render=<%= RenderProperty %>; </script> The RenderProperty is a method in the base page class (a .cs file that inherits from System.Web.UI.Page) It looks something like this: private bool _renderProp = false; public bool RenderProperty { get { return _renderProp; } set { _renderProp = value; } } On a page by page basis, I set the RenderProperty in the Page_Load of a aspx page protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { RenderProperty = true; } I get a compile time error that says: The name 'RenderProperty' does not exist in the current context C:\...\head.htm

  • Returning a ReadOnlyCollection from a method with an IList return type

    - by devoured elysium
Here I have the following bit of code: private IList<IState> _states = new List<IState>(); private ReadOnlyCollection<IState> _statesViewer; public IList<IState> States { get { return _statesViewer; } } Generally it is preferable to return interfaces than the concrete classes themselves, but in this case, shouldn't I set as the return type of the States property a ReadOnlyCollection? Any user of my library will think it is possible to anything you can do with an IList if I set it as so, and that means adding elements. That is not true and I'm definitely breaking the contract exposing it as an IList. Am I right with this view or there is something else I am missing here?

Assembly a = Assembly.LoadFrom(@"C:\Development\DaDll.dll"); Type type = a.GetType("FileReleaseHandler", true); TestInterface.INeeedHelp handler = Activator.CreateInstance(type) as TestInterface.INeeedHelp; No errors are thrown, and if I step through the code I can walk though the FileReleaseHandler Class as it executes the constructor but the value of handler is always null. What am I missing here? or even is there a better way I should be going about this?

  • How to make a cell of TAdvStringGrid editable?

    - by ammu
I am trying to implement a filter using the component TAdvStringGrid. My requirement is that I want the first row of this component to be editable when double clicked, so that the user can filter data. Borland C++ Builder is used to help achieve this task. I found this event OnCanEditCell. TCanEditCellEvent = procedure (Sender:TObject;Arow,Acol:longint;var canedit:boolean) of object; Within this function I've set canedit = true. This doesn't seem to work. Probably I need to do something more. I am new to Windows and GUI development. So any help would be great. Do I need to call this function from the OnDblClickCell event? How can I get it working? Thanks in advance

  • Direct video card access

    - by icemanind
Guys, I am trying to write a class in C# that can be used as a direct replacement for the C# Bitmap class. What I want to do instead though is perform all graphic functions done on the bitmap using the power of the video card. From what I understand, functions such as DrawLine or DrawArc or DrawText are primitive functions that use simple cpu math algorithms to perform the job. I, instead, want to use the graphics card cpu and memory to do these and other advanced functions, such as skinning a bitmap (applying a texture) and true transparancy. My problem is, in C#, how do I access direct video functions? Is there a library or something I need?
