  • WPF ComboBox drop-down (data bound) values not changing

    I bind the ItemsSource of a ComboBox to an ObservableCollection<MyClass>. In code I change the collection (e.g. edit the MyClass.Name property). The problem: the change is not reflected in the dropdown box if the ComboBox, yet when I seled the item from the dropdown it is displayed correctly in the selected item box of the ComboBox. What's going on? :) PS MyClass has INotifyPropertyChanged implemented

  • dynamically bound elements don't subscribe to CSS rules

    I'm using ajax to dynamically populate a menu. The problem is the dynamically created elements do not follow the CSS rules, although they're created with the right classname. This is surprising. I need to show different panels depending on properties of the selected row(object). So i've created 2 controls and included them into this main control.     Hi, i have the following situation, i have a Reporting layer(stand alone) in asp.net application(NOT website, this means NO App_Code folder exists), and i want just to create Object Data Source to take an Object in a separate layer(lets say from Data Access Layer), and then to use that Object Data Source to create a report, i have spent my whole day working around that, tons of work around's and articles on the web, but does not mention what i really want to do, any answer is appriciated... just to make things more clear here, assume the following: i have a solution with the follwoing layers, UI Reporting(has NO Employees object) just a reference Business Logic Data Access Layer(Employees--GetEmployees(), all i need is as mentioned above, i want to create Object Data Source from Reporting layer, to take Employee object from DAL, and then use it's GetEmployees method to be added to report, i think its more clear now, since also Reporting layer has NO App_Code folder.

  • Validating using stripes causes bound values to delete

    I'm using Stripes and I am validating the values of a drop down box to ensure the user selects an option. On initial load all data is present, but once the validation kicks in the form loses the data that was set up in the action bean on load. This includes the original list I am validating against. I'm simply using in the jsp, and annotating the field in the action bean as @Validate(required=true). Am I missing something simple? Cheers

  • Programatically adding,changing and removing controls bound to model objects (MVVM)

    I have the following scenario and I'm trying to decide how it can and should be implemented in silverlight and c# via MVVM. Scenario: I have the following objects in my scenario: MyModel, MyModelControl, MyView and MyViewModel. MyModelcontrol is a custom UserControl of mine and the rest I think are pretty much self explanatory. MyViewModel is a Subscriber of a message which hands it a Collection<MyModel> newCol and let's mark curCol as the current Collection<MyModel> that MyViewModel holds. I then want to programatically add MyModelControl controls for each MyModel instance which belongs to newCol and not to curCol. I also want to bind the MyModelControl instance to the corresponding MyModel instance. In a similar manner I want to remove the controls which don't belong now to the collection and I want to update a property for those which belong to both. I do not want to remove all controls which belong to curCol and then add all controls for newCol as the creation of MyModelControl is "expensive". I'd appreciate help with how this should be implemented in SL as I'm new to it and to the MVVM pattern. Comments regarding the design would also be welcomed. B.T.W This will run on Windows Phone 7 so I think there are some limitations on versions, if this is an issue please comment and I'll verify which versions exactly I can use on the phone.

  • Strange behaviour when collapsing lines in XML bound WPF Datagrid

    i am using a wpf datagrid with a xml file as DataContext. All working good except for iterating thorough the table and collapsing individual rows. There are several checkboxes where the user can decide which kinds of rows he wants to see, dependent on their error level string. If a checkbox is checked, some of the rows are collapsed, others not. You need to uncheck the checkbox and check it again to collapse the ones of the first try and some of the others. If you recheck it again more rows are collapsed every time. I guess it has something to do with how much of the list is actually visible and how much not because of the window size.     Have: Using ASP.NET MVC 2, DataAnnotationsModel based server validation, and client validation with jQuery. Anything in my model is validated perfectly on the client with jQuery based validation (jQuery.validate and MicrosoftMvcJQueryValidation.js). Need: Adding an additional HTML <input type="checkbox" id="terms" /> to my form. I need jQuery validation to require that this checkbox is checked AND somehow hook it in with whatever jQuery client script MVC is automagically controlling. Yes, I know it won't validate on the server side, but I don't need or want it to. Seems like it should be simple but I'm new to MVC, a total beginner at jQuery, and my searches have been coming up blank. Any help would be appreciated!

    Hello all- This may be a silly question, but does anyone know of a proof that binary search is asymptotically optimal? That is, if we are given a sorted list of elements where the only permitted operation on those objects is a comparison, how do you prove that the search can't be done in o(lg n)? (That's little-o of lg n, by the way.) Note that I'm restricting this to elements where the only operation permitted operation is a comparison, since there are well-known algorithms that can beat O(lg n) on expectation if you're allowed to do more complex operations on the data (see, for example, interpolation search). Thanks so much! This has really been bugging me since it seems like it should be simple but has managed to resist all my best efforts. :-)

  • WPF - Binding a variable in an already bound ListBox?

    I really don't know how to title this question, but I need some help with binding to a ListBox. I have an object, that contains (among other information) 2 properties that need to be bound in one ListBox. One of these is an ObservableCollection of objects, called Layers, and the other property holds an enum value of either Point, Line or Polygon, called SpatialType. These are to act as a legend to a map application. I have bound Layers to a ListBox, no problem, but inside the ListBox.ItemTemplate, I need to bind the single variable SpatialType to every Item in the ListBox. The problem I'm running into is that when I try to bind while inside the ListBox, the only variables I have access to are the properties of each Layer and I can't access any properties of the original bound class that holds the Layers (and the needed SpatialType property). What can I do to get that piece of information bound inside the ItemTemplate without messing up a good MVVM architecture?

  • What application domains are CPU bound and will tend to benefit from multi-core technologies?

    I hear a lot of people talking about the revolution that is coming in programming due to multi-core processors and parallelism, but I can't shake the feeling that for most of us, CPU cycles aren't the bottleneck. Pretty much all of my programs have been I/O bound in one way or another (database, filesystem, network, user interaction, etc.) for a very long time. Now I can think of a few areas where CPU cycles are a limiting factor, like code breaking, graphics, sound, some forms of simulation (weather, physics, etc.), and some forms of mathematical research, but they all seem like fairly specialized application domains. My general impression is that most programs are still I/O bound and that for most of our industry CPUs have been plenty fast for quite a while now. Am I off my rocker? What other application domains are CPU bound today? Do any of them include a large portion of the programming population? In essence, I'm wondering whether the multi-core CPUs will impact very many of us, and if so, how?

  • jQuery: How to stop propagation of a bound function not the entire event?

    I have a click function bound to many elements. It is possible that sometimes these elements may sit within one another. So, the click event is bound to a child and also bound to its parent. The method is specific to the element clicked. Naturally, because of event bubbling, the child's event is fired first, and then the parents. I cannot have them both called at the same time because the parents event overwrites the event of the child. So I could use event.stopPropagation() so only the first element clicked receives the event. The problem is that there are other click events also attached to the element, for example, I am using jQuery's draggable on these elements. If I stop the propagation of the click event, then draggable doesn't work, and the following click events are not called. So my question is: Is there a way to stop the event bubbling of the method the event will call and not the entire event?

    I have a custom property that works perfectly, except when it's bound to an object. The reason is that once the following code is executed: base.SetValue(ValueProperty, value); ... then my control is no longer bound. I know this because calling: base.GetBindingExpression(ValueProperty); ... returns the binding object perfectly - UNTIL I call base.SetValue. So my question is, how do I pass the new "value" on to the object that I'm bound to?
