  • WPF: Bind DataGrid to List<String>

    - by Sam
Funny, how sometimes the simple things bite me in the behind. I can bind a DataGrid nicely to a Collection of some arbitrary class, using a DataGridTextColumn like this: <DataGridTextColumn Header="Name" Binding="{Binding Name}"/> Now I want to bind a DataGrid to a simple Collection. So since there is no property "Name" or something like that to bind to, how do I write the binding: <DataGridTextColumn Header="Name" Binding="{Binding ???}"/> String has no Property "Value" or something like that. And if I just write {Binding } I'll end up with a one-way-binding, unable to write changes back to the Collection. Thinking about it, I think it is not possible to bind to a collection, so I do need to wrap my string into a class? Or is there a way?

  • In Flex, how to drag a component into a column of DataGrid (not the whole DataGrid)?

    - by Yousui
    Hi guys, I have a custom component: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <s:Group xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009" xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx"> <fx:Declarations> </fx:Declarations> <fx:Script> <![CDATA[ [Bindable] public var label:String = "don't know"; [Bindable] public var imageName:String = "x.gif"; ]]> </fx:Script> <s:HGroup paddingLeft="8" paddingTop="8" paddingRight="8" paddingBottom="8"> <mx:Image id="img" source="assets/{imageName}" /> <s:Label text="{label}"/> </s:HGroup> </s:Group> and a custom render, which will be used in my DataGrid: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <s:MXDataGridItemRenderer xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009" xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx" focusEnabled="true" xmlns:components="components.*"> <s:VGroup> <components:Person label="{dataGridListData.label}"> </components:Person> </s:VGroup> </s:MXDataGridItemRenderer> This is my application: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009" xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx" minWidth="955" minHeight="600" xmlns:services="services.*"> <s:layout> <s:VerticalLayout/> </s:layout> <fx:Script> <![CDATA[ import mx.collections.ArrayCollection; import mx.controls.Alert; import mx.controls.Image; import mx.rpc.events.ResultEvent; import mx.utils.ArrayUtil; ]]> </fx:Script> <fx:Declarations> <fx:XMLList id="employees"> <employee> <name>Christina Coenraets</name> <phone>555-219-2270</phone> <email>[email protected]</email> <active>true</active> <image>assets/001.png</image> </employee> <employee> <name>Joanne Wall</name> <phone>555-219-2012</phone> <email>[email protected]</email> <active>true</active> <image>assets/002.png</image> </employee> <employee> <name>Maurice Smith</name> <phone>555-219-2012</phone> <email>[email protected]</email> <active>false</active> <image>assets/003.png</image> </employee> <employee> <name>Mary Jones</name> <phone>555-219-2000</phone> <email>[email protected]</email> <active>true</active> <image>assets/004.png</image> </employee> </fx:XMLList> </fx:Declarations> <s:HGroup> <mx:DataGrid dataProvider="{employees}" width="100%" dropEnabled="true"> <mx:columns> <mx:DataGridColumn headerText="Employee Name" dataField="name"/> <mx:DataGridColumn headerText="Email" dataField="email"/> <mx:DataGridColumn headerText="Image" dataField="image" itemRenderer="renderers.render1"/> </mx:columns> </mx:DataGrid> <s:List dragEnabled="true" dragMoveEnabled="false"> <s:dataProvider> <s:ArrayCollection> <fx:String>aaa</fx:String> <fx:String>bbb</fx:String> <fx:String>ccc</fx:String> <fx:String>ddd</fx:String> </s:ArrayCollection> </s:dataProvider> </s:List> </s:HGroup> </s:Application> Now what I want to do is let the user drag an one or more item from the left List component and drop at the third column of the DataGrid, then using the dragged data to create another <components:Person /> object. So in the final result, maybe the first line contains just one <components:Person /> object at the third column, the second line contains two <components:Person /> object at the third column and so on. Can this be implemented in Flex? How? Great thanks.

  • JavaFX Datagrid

    - by Chepech
Hi All. Im in the verge of starting a new RIA development. We've been using Flex/Flash for the last 2 years but we were considering using a more OS approach so we though giving JavaFX a try since it seams the only solid option available. However after a couple of days of research we found out that there is not such thing as a datagrid for it, at least not in the core API. For those unfamiliar with Flex, a Datagrid is a component that allows you to display a collection of data in column-row layout (much like a HTML Table on steroids). The beauty of it is that you only need to worry about the data itself as the component does pretty much the rest (sorting, column dragging, etc). Im afraid to ask... but is there something slightly similar for JavaFX? We require nothing as fancy as Flex Datagrids/AdvancedDatagrids, we only require a easy, straight forward way to display grids of data that are able to have a little of interaction like clicking, sorting and that are able to display images, buttons, etc. without having to download a ton of different jars. If there isn´t something out there... This would be a shot in the back of the head to the idea of giving javaFx the chance to compete with flash on our project (which is sad). I really cant believe the SUN people didnt include something like this on the core API...

  • Flex DataGrid with ComboBox itemRenderer

    - by Jamie Love
Hi there, I'm going spare trying to figure out the "correct" way to embed a ComboBox inside a Flex (3.4) DataGrid. By Rights (e.g. according to this page http://blog.flexmonkeypatches.com/2008/02/18/simple-datagrid-combobox-as-item-editor-example/) it should be easy, but I can't for the life of me make this work. The difference I have to the example linked above is that my display value (what the user sees) is different to the id value I want to select on and store in my data provider. So what I have is: <mx:DataGridColumn headerText="Type" width="200" dataField="TransactionTypeID" editorDataField="value" textAlign="center" editable="true" rendererIsEditor="true"> <mx:itemRenderer> <mx:Component> <mx:ComboBox dataProvider="{parentDocument.transactionTypesData}"/> </mx:Component> </mx:itemRenderer> </mx:DataGridColumn> Where transactionTypesData has both 'data' and 'label' fields (as per what the ComboBox - why on earth it doesn't provide both a labelField and idField I'll never know). Anyway, the above MXML code doesn't work in two ways: The combo box does not show up with any selected item. After selecting an item, it does not store back that selected item to the datastore. So, has anyone got a similar situation working?

  • WPF DataGrid HeaderTemplate Mysterious Padding

    - by Jake Wharton
I am placing a single button with an image in the header of a column of a DataGrid. The cell template is also just a simple button with an image. <my:DataGridTemplateColumn> <my:DataGridTemplateColumn.HeaderTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Button ToolTip="Add New Template" Name="AddNewTemplate" Click="AddNewTemplate_Click"> <Image Source="../Resources/add.png"/> </Button> </DataTemplate> </my:DataGridTemplateColumn.HeaderTemplate> <my:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Button ToolTip="Edit Template" Name="EditTemplate" Click="EditTemplate_Click" Tag="{Binding}"> <Image Source="../Resources/pencil.png"/> </Button> </DataTemplate> </my:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate> </my:DataGridTemplateColumn> When rendered, the header has approximately 10-15px of padding on the right side only which causes the cells to obviously render at that width leaving the cell button having empty space on both sides. Being a pixel-perfectionist this annoys the hell out of me. I had initially thought that it was space for the arrows displayed when sorted but I have sorting disabled on both the entire DataGrid and explicitly on the column. Here's a image: I assume this is padding form whatever is the parent element of the button. Does anyone know a way to eliminate it?

  • dojox.grid.DataGrid populated from Servlet

    - by jeff porter
I'd like to hava a Dojo dojox.grid.DataGrid with its data from a servlet. Problem: The data returned from the servlet does not get displayed, just the message "Sorry, an error has occured". If I just place the JSON string into the HTML, it works. ARRRRGGH. Can anyone please help me! Thanks Jeff Porter Servlet code... public void doGet(HttpServletRequest req, HttpServletResponse resp) { res.setContentType("json"); PrintWriter pw = new PrintWriter(res.getOutputStream()); if (response != null) pw.println("[{'batchId':'2001','batchRef':'146'}]"); pw.close(); } HtmL code... <div id="gridDD" dojoType="dojox.grid.DataGrid" jsId="gridDD" style="height: 600x; width: 100%;" store="ddInfo" structure="layoutHtmlTableDDDeltaSets"> </div> var rawdataDDInfo = ""; // empty at start ddInfo = new dojo.data.ItemFileWriteStore({ data: { identifier: 'batchId', label: 'batchId', items: rawdataDDInfo } }); <script> function doSelectBatchsAfterDate() { var xhrArgs = { url: "../secure/jsonServlet", handleAs: "json", preventCache: true, load: function(data) { var xx =dojo.toJson(data); var ddInfoX = new dojo.data.ItemFileWriteStore({data: xx}); dijit.byId('gridDD').setStore(ddInfoX); }, error: function(error) { alert("error:" + error); } } //Call the asynchronous xhrGet var deferred = dojo.xhrGet(xhrArgs); } </script> <img src="go.gif" onclick="doSelectBatchsAfterDate();"/>

  • Adding a Combobox to a DataGrid in Silverlight

    - by bplus
I can add a Combobox to a DataGrid using following xmal: <local:DataGridTemplateColumn Header="SomeHeader" Width="106" HeaderStyle="{StaticResource headerAlignRightStyle}" CellStyle="{StaticResource cellAlignRightStyle}"> <local:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate> <DataTemplate> <TextBlock Text="{Binding SomeProp}" Margin="4"/> </DataTemplate> </local:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate> <local:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellEditingTemplate> <DataTemplate> <ComboBox x:Name="SomeCombo" SelectionChanged="SomeCombo_SelectionChanged" ItemsSource="{Binding SomeList}" DisplayMemberPath="Name" /> </DataTemplate> </local:DataGridTemplateColumn.CellEditingTemplate> </local:DataGridTemplateColumn> However what I can't figure out is a sensible way to get the row that was combox is bound to. i.e. when handling the combobox SelectionChanged event I have no way of knowing what what row the combobox belongs to. Particularly I don't know what object in the DataGrid datasource that the combobox is refering to. Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Dojox Datagrid contains data, but shows up as empty

    - by Vivek
I'd really appreciate any help on this. There is this Dojox Datagrid that I'm creating programatically and supplying JSON data. As of now, I'm creating this data within JavaScript itself. Please refer to the below code sample. var upgradeStageStructure =[{ cells:[ { field: "stage", name: "Stage", width: "50%", styles: 'text-align: left;' }, { field:"status", name: "Status", width: "50%", styles: 'text-align: left;' } ] }]; var upgradeStageData = [ {id:1, stage: "Preparation", status: "Complete"}, {id:2, stage: "Formatting", status: "Complete"}, {id:3, stage: "OS Installation", status: "Complete"}, {id:4, stage: "OS Post-Installation", status: "In Progress"}, {id:5, stage: "Application Installation", status: "Not Started"}, {id:6, stage: "Application Post-Installation", status: "Not Started"} ]; var stagestore = new dojo.data.ItemFileReadStore({data:{identifier:"id", items: upgradeStageData}}); var upgradeStatusGrid = new dojox.grid.DataGrid({ autoHeight: true, style: "width:400px;padding:0em;margin:0em;", store: stagestore, clientSort: false, rowSelector: '20px', structure: upgradeStageStructure, columnReordering: false, selectable: false, singleClickEdit: false, selectionMode: 'none', loadingMessage: 'Loading Upgrade Stages', noDataMessage:'There is no data', errorMessage: 'Failed to load Upgrade Status' }); dojo.byId('progressIndicator').innerHTML=''; dojo.byId('progressIndicator').appendChild(upgradeStatusGrid.domNode); upgradeStatusGrid.startup(); The problem is that I am not seeing anything within the grid upon display (no headers, no data). But I know for sure that the data in the grid does exist and the grid is properly initialized, because I called alert (grid.domNode.innerHTML);. The resultant HTML that is thrown up does show a table containing header rows and the above data. This link contains an image which illustrates what I'm seeing when I display the page. (Can't post images since my account is new here) As you may notice, there are 6 rows for 6 pieces of data I have created but the grid is a mess. Please help out if you think you know what could be going wrong. Thanks in advance, Viv

  • Set the selected item for a combobox in a datagrid

    - by JingJingTao
    I am using a datagrid which has many combobox fields in it, when I click the datagrid combobox the selected item or highlighted value is the last item in the list, but I would like it to highlight the first(top) item in the list. I know for just a combobox, all I need to do is change the combobox.selecteditem or combobox.selectedindex, but I'm not sure what to do in this case. I have binded the combobox to a table in the database and used a datatable to store the combobox values and then I add a row to the datatable, I think the reason the last item in the combobox is highlighted is because I added a row to the datatable. Thank you for your help. String strGetTypes = "SELECT holidaycodeVARCHAR4Pk, codedescVARCHAR45 FROM holidaytype ORDER BY holidaycodeVARCHAR4Pk Desc"; DataTable dtHolidayType = new DataTable(); MySqlDataAdapter dbaElements = new MySqlDataAdapter(strGetTypes, ShareSqlSettings.dbConnect); dbaElements.Fill(dtHolidayType); DataGridViewComboBoxCell cboxDays = new DataGridViewComboBoxCell(); cboxDays.DataSource = dtHolidayType; cboxDays.DisplayMember = "codedescVARCHAR45"; cboxDays.ValueMember = "holidaycodeVARCHAR4Pk"; //Blank row dtHolidayType.Rows.Add(1); // gridDailyEmp.Rows[j].Cells[day] = cboxDays;

  • DataGrid: dynamic DataTemplate for dynamic DataGridTemplateColumn

    - by Lukas Cenovsky
I want to show data in a datagrid where the data is a collection of public class Thing { public string Foo { get; set; } public string Bar { get; set; } public List<Candidate> Candidates { get; set; } } public class Candidate { public string FirstName { get; set; } public string LastName { get; set; } ... } where the number of candidates in Candidates list varies at runtime. Desired grid layout looks like this Foo | Bar | Candidate 1 | Candidate 2 | ... | Candidate N I'd like to have a DataTemplate for each Candidate as I plan changing it during runtime - user can choose what info about candidate is displayed in different columns (candidate is just an example, I have different object). That means I also want to change the column templates in runtime although this can be achieved by one big template and collapsing its parts. I know about two ways how to achieve my goals (both quite similar): Use AutoGeneratingColumn event and create Candidates columns Add Columns manually In both cases I need to load the DataTemplate from string with XamlReader. Before that I have to edit the string to change the binding to wanted Candidate. Is there a better way how to create a DataGrid with unknown number of DataGridTemplateColumn? Note: This question is based on dynamic datatemplate with valueconverter

  • How do I bind arrays to columns in a WPF datagrid

    - by user1432917
I have a Log object that contains a list of Curve objects. Each curve has a Name property and an array of doubles. I want the Name to be in the column header and the data below it. I have a user control with a datagid. Here is the XAML; <UserControl x:Class="WellLab.UI.LogViewer" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:mc="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/markup-compatibility/2006" xmlns:d="http://schemas.microsoft.com/expression/blend/2008" mc:Ignorable="d" d:DesignHeight="500" d:DesignWidth="500"> <Grid> <StackPanel Height="Auto" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch" Margin="0" Name="stackPanel1" VerticalAlignment="Stretch" Width="Auto"> <ToolBarTray Height="26" Name="toolBarTray1" Width="Auto" /> <ScrollViewer Height="Auto" Name="scrollViewer1" Width="Auto" HorizontalScrollBarVisibility="Auto" VerticalScrollBarVisibility="Visible" CanContentScroll="True" Background="#E6ABA4A4"> <DataGrid AutoGenerateColumns="True" Height="Auto" Name="logDataGrid" Width="Auto" ItemsSource="{Binding}" HorizontalAlignment="Left"> </DataGrid> </ScrollViewer> </StackPanel> </Grid> In the code behind I have figured out how to create columns and name them, but I have not figured out how to bind the data. public partial class LogViewer { public LogViewer(Log log) { InitializeComponent(); foreach (var curve in log.Curves) { var data = curve.GetData(); var col = new DataGridTextColumn { Header = curve.Name }; logDataGrid.Columns.Add(col); } } } I wont even show the code I tried to use to bind the array "data", since nothing even came close. I am sure I am missing something simple, but after hours of searching the web, I have to come begging for an answer.

  • Hang during databinding of large amount of data to WPF DataGrid

    - by nihi_l_ist
Im using WPFToolkit datagrid control and do the binding in such way: <WpfToolkit:DataGrid x:Name="dgGeneral" SelectionMode="Single" SelectionUnit="FullRow" AutoGenerateColumns="False" CanUserAddRows="False" CanUserDeleteRows="False" Grid.Row="1" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=Conversations}" > public List<CONVERSATION> Conversations { get { return conversations; } set { if (conversations != value) { conversations = value; NotifyPropertyChanged("Conversations"); } } } public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; public void NotifyPropertyChanged(string propertyName) { if (PropertyChanged != null) { PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs(propertyName)); } } public void GenerateData() { BackgroundWorker bw = new BackgroundWorker(); bw.WorkerSupportsCancellation = bw.WorkerReportsProgress = true; List<CONVERSATION> list = new List<CONVERSATION>(); bw.DoWork += delegate { list = RefreshGeneralData(); }; bw.RunWorkerCompleted += delegate { try { Conversations = list; } catch (Exception ex) { CustomException.ExceptionLogCustomMessage(ex); } }; bw.RunWorkerAsync(); } And than in the main window i call GenerateData() after setting DataCotext of the window to instance of the class, containing GenerateData(). RefreshGeneralData() returns some list of data i want and it returns it fast. Overall there are near 2000 records and 6 columns(im not posting the code i used during grid's initialization, because i dont think it can be the reason) and the grid hangs for almost 10 secs!

  • Editable, growable DataGrid that retains values on postback and updates underlying DataTable

    - by jlstrecker
I'm trying to create an ASP.NET/C# page that allows the user to edit a table of data, add rows to it, and save the data back to the database. For the table of data, I'm using a DataGrid whose cells contain TextBoxes or CheckBoxes. I have a button for adding rows (which works) and a button for saving the data. However, I'm quite stuck on two things: The TextBoxes and CheckBoxes should retain their values on postback. So if the user edits a TextBox and clicks the button to add more rows, the edits should be retained when the page reloads. However, the edits should not be saved to the database at this point. When the user clicks the save button, or anytime before, the DataTable underlying the DataGrid needs to be updated with the values of the TextBoxes and CheckBoxes so that the DataTable can be sent to the database. I have a method that does this, but I can't figure out when to call it. Any help getting this to work, or suggestions of alternative user interfaces that would behave similarly, would be appreciated.

  • Strange behaviour when collapsing lines in XML bound WPF Datagrid

    - by Flossn
    i am using a wpf datagrid with a xml file as DataContext. All working good except for iterating thorough the table and collapsing individual rows. There are several checkboxes where the user can decide which kinds of rows he wants to see, dependent on their error level string. If a checkbox is checked, some of the rows are collapsed, others not. You need to uncheck the checkbox and check it again to collapse the ones of the first try and some of the others. If you recheck it again more rows are collapsed every time. I guess it has something to do with how much of the list is actually visible and how much not because of the window size. Thanks in advance. foreach (DataGridRow r in rows) { bool showRow = true; var tb = Datagrid.GetCell(dataGridEvents, r, 2).Content; string level = ((TextBlock)tb).Text; switch (level) { case "Warning": showRow = checkBoxWarnings.IsChecked.HasValue ? checkBoxWarnings.IsChecked.Value : false; break; case "Critical": showRow = checkBoxCritical.IsChecked.HasValue ? checkBoxCritical.IsChecked.Value : false; break; case "OK": showRow = checkBoxOK.IsChecked.HasValue ? checkBoxOK.IsChecked.Value : false; break; case "Unknown": showRow = checkBoxUnknown.IsChecked.HasValue ? checkBoxUnknown.IsChecked.Value : false; break; } r.Visibility = showRow ? Visibility.Visible : Visibility.Collapsed; }

  • Expandable columns in a datagrid

    - by Jobe
Im working on a WPF-applications to present and correct large amounts of data. Im about to implement a datagrid containing data from 3 different sources that are populated from external services. To start with I will only populate the grid with data from one source, the master source. However, sometimes an automated validator will trigger a validation warning or error on one cell and the requirement states that the user should be able to view data from the additional 2 sources in columns next to the selected one. Something like this: Standard view: | col1 src1 | col2 src1 | col3 src1 | | | | | | |faulty | | | | | | User want to show data from source 2 and 3 next to the column "col2 src1" like this: | col1 src1 | col2 src1 | col2 src2 | col2 src3 | col3 src1 | | | | | | | | |corrected | | | | | | | | | | and then be able to correct the faulty formatted cell with data from the other 2 soruces, and then collapse the columns again. I am trying to use the mvvm pattern on this one so I have populated the DataGrid with a ListCollectionView so far. The list contains items with properties like this: MyRowItem {string col1, string col2, string col3} I will then have 2 additional collections with items of type like above but from 2 other sources. I have no idea how to implement this functionality and could use some help on the logics. What approach should I head for?

  • Silverlight Export Datagrid to Excel (without roundtrip)

    - by kirkktx
I've got a silverlight 2 app with a Datagrid and a button for exporting it to Excel by making a trip back to the server. I can create an HTML string representing the datagrid. I'd like to attach this string to an html element, setting MIME type=application/vnd.ms-excel and have a prompt show up asking if I'd like to open or save the xls file. After all if ASP can do this ... <% The main feature of this technique is that %> <% you have to change Content type to ms-excel.%> Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel" <TABLE> <TR><TD>2</TD></TR> <TR><TD>3</TD></TR> <TR><TD>=SUM(A1:A2)</TD></TR> </TABLE> ... it seems like I should be able to do something similar from within Silverlight, pushing it onto the HTML DOM. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

  • Working with Silverlight DataGrid RowDetailsTemplate

    - by mohanbrij
In this post I am going to show how we can use the Silverlight DataGrid RowDetails Template, Before I start I assume that you know basics of Silverlight and also know how you create a Silverlight Projects. I have started with the Silverlight Application, and kept all the default options before I created a Silverlight Project. After this I added a Silverlight DataGrid control to my MainForm.xaml page, using the DragDrop feature of Visual Studio IDE, this will help me to add the default namespace and references automatically. Just to give you a quick look of what exactly I am going to do, I will show you in the screen below my final target, before I start explaining rest of my codes. Before I start with the real code, first I have to do some ground work, as I am not getting the data from the DB, so I am creating a class where I will populate the dummy data. EmployeeData.cs public class EmployeeData { public string FirstName { get; set; } public string LastName { get; set; } public string Address { get; set; } public string City { get; set; } public string State { get; set; } public string Country { get; set; } public EmployeeData() { } public List<EmployeeData> GetEmployeeData() { List<EmployeeData> employees = new List<EmployeeData>(); employees.Add ( new EmployeeData { Address = "#407, PH1, Foyer Appartment", City = "Bangalore", Country = "India", FirstName = "Brij", LastName = "Mohan", State = "Karnataka" }); employees.Add ( new EmployeeData { Address = "#332, Dayal Niketan", City = "Jamshedpur", Country = "India", FirstName = "Arun", LastName = "Dayal", State = "Jharkhand" }); employees.Add ( new EmployeeData { Address = "#77, MSR Nagar", City = "Bangalore", Country = "India", FirstName = "Sunita", LastName = "Mohan", State = "Karnataka" }); return employees; } } The above class will give me some sample data, I think this will be good enough to start with the actual code. now I am giving below the XAML code from my MainForm.xaml First I will put the Silverlight DataGrid, <data:DataGrid x:Name="gridEmployee" CanUserReorderColumns="False" CanUserSortColumns="False" RowDetailsVisibilityMode="VisibleWhenSelected" HorizontalAlignment="Center" ScrollViewer.VerticalScrollBarVisibility="Auto" Height="200" AutoGenerateColumns="False" Width="350" VerticalAlignment="Center"> Here, the most important property which I am going to set is RowDetailsVisibilityMode="VisibleWhenSelected" This will display the RowDetails only when we select the desired Row. Other option we have in this is Collapsed and Visible. Which will either make the row details always Visible or Always Collapsed. but to get the real effect I have selected VisibleWhenSelected. Now I am going to put the rest of my XAML code. <data:DataGrid.Columns> <!--Begin FirstName Column--> <data:DataGridTextColumn Width="150" Header="First Name" Binding="{Binding FirstName}"/> <!--End FirstName Column--> <!--Begin LastName Column--> <data:DataGridTextColumn Width="150" Header="Last Name" Binding="{Binding LastName}"/> <!--End LastName Column--> </data:DataGrid.Columns> <data:DataGrid.RowDetailsTemplate> <!-- Begin row details section. --> <DataTemplate> <Border BorderBrush="Black" BorderThickness="1" Background="White"> <Grid> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="0.2*" /> <ColumnDefinition Width="0.8*" /> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition /> <RowDefinition /> <RowDefinition /> <RowDefinition /> </Grid.RowDefinitions> <!-- Controls are bound to FullAddress properties. --> <TextBlock Text="Address : " Grid.Column="0" Grid.Row="0" /> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Address}" Grid.Column="1" Grid.Row="0" /> <TextBlock Text="City : " Grid.Column="0" Grid.Row="1" /> <TextBlock Text="{Binding City}" Grid.Column="1" Grid.Row="1" /> <TextBlock Text="State : " Grid.Column="0" Grid.Row="2" /> <TextBlock Text="{Binding State}" Grid.Column="1" Grid.Row="2" /> <TextBlock Text="Country : " Grid.Column="0" Grid.Row="3" /> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Country}" Grid.Column="1" Grid.Row="3" /> </Grid> </Border> </DataTemplate> <!-- End row details section. --> </data:DataGrid.RowDetailsTemplate>   In the code above, first I am declaring the simple dataGridTextColumn for FirstName and LastName, and after this I am creating the RowDetailTemplate, where we are just putting the code what we usually do to design the Grid. I mean nothing very much RowDetailTemplate Specific, most of the code which you will see inside the RowDetailsTemplate is plain and simple, where I am binding rest of the Address Column. And that,s it. Once we will bind the DataGrid, you are ready to go. In the code below from MainForm.xaml.cs, I am just binding the DataGrid public partial class MainPage : UserControl { public MainPage() { InitializeComponent(); BindControls(); } private void BindControls() { EmployeeData employees = new EmployeeData(); gridEmployee.ItemsSource = employees.GetEmployeeData(); } } Once you will run, you can see the output I have given in the screenshot above. In this example I have just shown the very basic example, now it up to your creativity and requirement, you can put some other controls like checkbox, Images, even other DataGrid, etc inside this RowDetailsTemplate column. I am attaching my sample source code with this post. I have used Silverlight 3 and Visual Studio 2008, but this is fully compatible with you Silverlight 4 and Visual Studio 2010. you may just need to Upgrade the attached Sample. You can download from here.

  • How to use LoadingRowGroup in SilverLight DataGrid

    - by nandrew
Hello, I want to use LoadingRowGroup event in SilverLight DataGrid to display a group summary. I have an event: void dataGrid1_LoadingRowGroup(object sender, DataGridRowGroupHeaderEventArgs e) { // e.RowGroupHeader } but I don't know how to use e.RowGroupHeader to set group header value. Maybe I should use e.RowGroupHeader.Template, but I don't know how to set a template by code.

  • customized StringFormat in WPF DataGrid

    - by Boris Lipschitz
What would be the most efficient way to set customized formatting of the column in DataGrid. I can't use the following StringFormat, as my sophisticated formatting also depends on some other property of this ViewModel. (e.g Price formatting has some complicated formatting logic based on different markets.) Binding ="{Binding Price, StringFormat='{}{0:#,##0.0##}'}"

  • Flex DataGrid mouseover row with gradient background

    - by asawilliams
I have a DataGrid that needs to show a gradient background on mouseover of the row. I have created itemrenderers for each of the columns and the gradient shows up for the individual cell that is moused over, but not for the whole row. How do I get the whole row to show the gradient when mousing over one of the cells?

  • C# datagrid click position

    - by user1112111
Hi, Does anybody know how can I determine where the user clicked in a DataGrid control ? I'm using .NET CF with Windows Mobile 6. What I need to know is whether the user clicked on the selected cell or on an empty area (not covered by columns or rows). Is there a way to retrieve it from EventArgs ? Thanks.
