Integration of Photoshop and MySQL

I’m working to integrate Photoshop (CS4, local) with MySQL (Linux, remote), such that: a) image file information, data and meta data can be exported from PS into MySQL where same can be manipulated both manually and calculated, and then b) the MySQL fields can be referenced in Photoshop scripting for further automated image file manipulation, and c) the MySQL fields can be referenced for other purposes such as dynamic propagation of files and associated file data to a website, for example. I’ve spent many hours running searches for these concepts on StackOverflow, Google, and Adobe Support. I’m coming up empty, which leads me to believe that it’s not natively possible, and that I’ll need some middle language like PHP. Does anyone know if it’s possible for Photoshop and MySQL to bi-directionally share data? If so, how? If that’s not possible, what solution(s) might you recommend, in terms of specific tools/technologies that I can research further. Thank you.

Can a grails controller extend from a base class? How to make it so grails doesn't blow up?

I wrote a base class to help build my controllers more quickly and to remove duplication. It provides some helper methods, default actions and some meta programming to make these things easier to build. One of those methods in the base class is like this: def dynamicList(Class clazz) { def model = new LinkedHashMap() model[getMapString(clazz) + "s"] = list(clazz) model[getMapString(clazz) + "sTotal"] = count(clazz) model } The action that calls it, also in the base class, is this: def list = { dynamicList(clazz) } Unfortunately, when I go to list action in the controller subclass that inherits the base class when my application is deployed, I get this exception: groovy.lang.MissingMethodException: No signature of method: groovy.lang.MissingMethodException.dynamicList() is applicable for argument types: (java.lang.Class) values: [class project .user.User] at project.user.UserController$_closure1.doCall(UserController.groovy:18) at project.user.UserController$_closure1.doCall(UserController.groovy) at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:619) How can I hit grails over the head and just tell it do what I want it to do? My PHP login no longer works

This page worked like a charm for years... enter the correspondng user id and password and you would be redirected to your directory. Now suddenly, all attempts to log in - valid or otherwise - result in the page remaining static... no message, no redirect, nothing. Nothing in the code has changed, it just plain doesn't work anymore. Could this be the result of some kind of change on the server side? Yeah, I know it's not super secure, but it was good enough for our purposes. I'm certainly open to better suggestions. I just need it to work... and keep working. Please be gentle! How do I do client-side validation in WPF using WCF RIA Services

Hi! I've created a WCF RIA Service that I'd like to use with a WPF application. I've added several System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations validation rules on the entities meta-data, all which work great on the server when I call .SubmitChanges(changeSet) from the client. I'd also like to validate my entities on the client side before I sumbit my changes to the server but I have no idea how to do so. Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated! Thanks....

Trying to determine best design for this workflow - c# - 3.0

Input Server - files of type jpg,tif, raw,png, mov come in via FTP Each file needs to be watermarked, if applicable, and meta data added to the file Then each file needs to be moved to an orders directory where an order file is generated and then packaged as zip file and moved to processing server. The file names are of [orderid_userid_guid].[jpg|tif|mov|png...] As I expect the volume to grow I dont want to work on one file at a time and move it through the work flow. I would prefer multi threaded/asynchronous if possible..

Relative paths in spring classpath resource

Hi all, I have a bunch of spring config files, all of which live under the META-INF directory in various subpackages. I have been using import like the following... <import resource="../database/schema.xml"/> So a relative path from the source file. This works fine when I am working with a local build outside of a jar file. But when I package everything up in a jar then I get an error that it cannot resolve the URL resource. If I change the above to an absolute path (with classpath:) then it works fine. Is there any way to use relative paths with ".." in when the configs are packaged in a jar or am I restricted to descending relative paths and absolute paths only? Thanks.

Say that you have a XHTML document in English but it has accented characters (e.g. meta name="author" content="José"). Let's say you have no control over the HTTP headers. Should the characters be replaced for their corresponding named entities (e.g. á, etc)? Should the doc type and the xml:lang attribute be set to English? I know I can check the W3C recommendation but I am asking more from a practical point of view.

ActionScript: Type coercion problem with BlazeDS/AMF and class interfaces

Hi, I've got a problem with type coercion in a Java/Hibernate/BlazeDS/Flex-Setup. First of all, my classes look like this: --- JAVA --- Interface I (Abstract) Class A implements I Class B extends A --- ActionScript --- Interface I Class A implements I Class B extends A I got RemoteClass-Meta-Tags in all ActionScript-Classes/Interfaces I, A and B. Package structure and Class/Interface names are exactly the same. Now here's the problem: My Java Service successfully retrieves objects of class B from my database via Hibernate. I got another class C which has a member property of interface type I, so it should be possible to assign an object of type B. But for some reason i get the following error message: TypeError: Error #1034: cannot convert Object@28b44a89 to package.name.I I checked the Java object type in the service and it is of type B and seems to be totally fine. Why can't the object of type B be assigned to a member variable of type I? This is driving me nuts. Thanks in advance.

This question is independent of the nature of the application, desktop, mobile or browser based. Let's assume you are not able to get region information from another source and you have to choose one language as the default one. The question does apply as well for more case including: * pt-pt and pt-br * en-us and en-gb * fr-fr and fr-CA * zh-cn, zh-tw, .... - in fact in this case I know that zh can be used as predominant language for Simplified Chinese where full code is zh-hans. For zh-tw, zh-hant-tw, zh-hk, zh-mo the proper code (canonical) should be zh-hant. In fact the question can be extended to: How to I determine the predominant languages for a specified meta-language? I need a solution that will include at least Portuguese, English and French.

Posting to an Open Graph page

Hello all, I've got a open graph page with a like button, activity feed, etc. I want to be able to post programmatically. The open graph docs says it's possible via the old stream.publish api. I've got a meta tag pointing to my facebook application, but the stream publish api doesn't seem to be able to post. Intro: After reading Brad Wilson Metadata series and searching unsuccesfully on google, I was wondering: Question: Has any OS project / code been created that allows you to tag CSS styles in the Meta information, for example in my (buddy) Model, I want to be able to decorate a property with multiple CSS styles (a single style you can fake with UIHint, I want to set many possible styles - and be able to "cross-utilise") eg. public class MyModel { [DisplayCssHint("h5")] [DisplayCssHint("color:#777;")] [EditorCssHint(".myCoolTextClass")] [EditorCssHint(".myOtherCoolTextClass")] public string Title{ get;set; } [DisplayCssHint(".normaltext")] [EditorCssHint(".myCoolTextClass")] [EditorCssHint(".myOtherCoolTextClass")] public string Message {get;set;} } Thoughts: I know that this does not seem like a logical place to put styling information, however as it is metadata and is discriptive... besides it would be nice to do this while prototyping - (especially being able to apply class styles and extending it further - to generate .Less files would really be cool! more to the point I would hate to write it, if its already been done ;). The problem is that when the clicks enter there is an error: "Enter a Valid Date" How do I make my Form accept (for example) %d-%b-%Y as the date format? Can an Aspect conditionally render parts of a JSP page ?

At present the jsp pages have normal authorize tags to conditionally render links and information etc. The website is on the intranet, and we're using Spring Security 2.0.4. Ive now got a business user who wants to allow all roles to access everything for the first few weeks, then gradually add the security back in as feedback is gathered from the business. Rather than go through every page, removing the authorize tags, only to have to put them back in, is is possible to configure these through an aspect, or is there any other way to externalize this into a config file ? I've found Spring's MethodSecurityInterceptor and the meta data tags, but these wouldn't give me the externalization. I've been on google for the last hour, and am now pretty sure this can't be done, but would love to find out I haven't been asking the right questions. Advice appreciated

Can I use JPA/EJB3 on a table that was created at runtime?

This is weird and probably not possible but I'll ask anyway. I'm making this app that reads in a meta file and creates some tables then populates them with data. I was wondering if I could somehow use JPA to populate those tables. Obviously, there's no way I could have an entity with annotations on it since the table didn't exist at compile time. But perhaps JPA or the entity manager has a way to load data into a nameless table? If possible, I'd expect a method like entityManager.update("myTableName", hashMapOfColumnNamesAndColumnDataValues);

Should I commit WEB-INF into version control, or rather construct it with ant?

ant "war" task does just that - creates WEB-INF along with META-INF, depending on task attributes. what is considered a best practice? keeping all my libs elsewhere for re-use, like log4j and then build them with "war" task or have everything (including jars) checked-in under WEB-INF? I have multiple apps that could re-use same libs, images, htmls, etc. Our developers use RAD7/Eclipse. I'd appreciate any examples with opensource Java Web Apps repo layouts. thanks!

How to make IE 9 Standards Mode the default mode?

I have a web site that works perfectly fine in IE9 when compatibility mode is turned OFF (the compatibility symbol is gray). When compatibility mode is turned on (blue), the jQuery doesn't work at all. I have added the following tag to the site to tell the browser that compatibility mode should NOT be used. <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=Edge" > I have the doctype as this: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> Still, the browser doesn't seem to default to standard mode and the user must manually ensure that they are NOT in compatibility mode. Can I disable IE 9 Compatibility Mode? Have I done what I need to do to disable IE 9 Compatibility Mode? Can the user always override IE 9 Standards Mode?

How to post Arabic characters in PHP

Okay, So I am writing an OpenCart extension that must allow Arabic characters when posting data. Whenever I post ????? the print_r($_POST) returns with this: u0645u0631u062du0628u0627 I check the HTML header and it has this: <meta charset="UTF-8" /> I checked the PHP file that triggers all SQL queries and it has this code: mysql_query("SET NAMES 'utf8'", $this->link); mysql_query("SET CHARACTER SET utf8", $this->link); mysql_query("SET CHARACTER_SET_CONNECTION=utf8", $this->link); This is in my form tag: <form action="<?php echo $action; ?>" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data" id="form" accept-charset="utf-8"> I can't think of what else I am doing wrong. The rest of the OpenCart framework supports UTF8 and arabic characters. It is just in this instance where I can't post anything arabic? Could someone please help me? Many Thanks Peter

Wordpress auto excerpts from post content?

I'm trying to create an auto generated post excerpt from the current page's post content using a function in my theme's header file. The post excerpt will be used as the page's meta description. Can someone give me an idea of how you might go about this once you've got the post content into a string variable? The somewhat tricky part is that, in order to predict a viable stopping point for the post excerpt, I'd like to specify that the cutoff point be the end of the first paragraph of text. And for that reason, it does not make sense to load the entire post content into the string I'm using. Can I grab the first paragraph without having to load the entire post content string? And I'm not certain how to test for that in php. Would regex be the only way?

mmap() for large file I/O?

I'm creating a utility in C++ to be run on Linux which can convert videos to a proprietary format. The video frames are very large (up to 16 megapixels), and we need to be able to seek directly to exact frame numbers, so our file format uses libz to compress each frame individually, and append the compressed data onto a file. Once all frames are finished being written, a journal which includes meta data for each frame (including their file offsets and sizes) is written to the end of the file. I'm currently using ifstream and ofstream to do the file i/o, but I am looking to optimize as much as possible. I've heard that mmap() can increase performance in a lot of cases, and I'm wondering if mine is one of them. Our files will be in the tens to hundreds of gigabytes, and although writing will always be done sequentially, random access reads should be done in constant time. Any thoughts as to whether I should investigate this further, and if so does anyone have any tips for things to look out for? Thanks!

Best Practice For Referencing an External Module In a Java Project

I have a Java project that expects external modules to be registered with it. These modules: Implement a particular interface in the main project Are packaged into a uni-jar (along with any dependencies) Contain some human-readable meta-information (like the module name). My main project needs to be able to load at runtime (e.g. using its own classloader) any of these external modules. My question is: what's the best way of registering these modules with the main project (I'd prefer to keep this vanilla Java, and not use any third-party frameworks/libraries for this isolated issue)? My current solution is to keep a single .properties file in the main project with key=name, value=classhuman-readable-name (or coordinate two .properties files in order to avoid the delimiter parsing). At runtime, the main project loads in the .properties file and uses any entries it finds to drive the classloader. This feels hokey to me. Is there a better way to this?

Memory leak in Websphere 7 + EJB3, a lot of instances of ClassMapping

Hi, sorry for my english, I speak spanish. I recently migrate an application from ejb 2.x to ejb3 (approx. 300 entities), Im using WebSphere 7.0.0.9. After 10 hours of work, the system crash with an OutOfMemoryError. Analyzing the coredump, I see a lot of instance of the org.apache.openjpa.jdbc.meta.ClassMapping class (please see the attached a screenshot). I believe that the culprit is the list of ValueListeners of the Value class, but I'm not sure, and I dont know how to fix this problem. Thanks
