    I have a textbox used to enter the text by user, which guide-text which disappears when user starts to write. But when I use a dropdown & select a text from it, & this text is automatically entered in the textbox, the guide-text is not fading away.     Quicksearch is really cool... but it has a usability issue that makes it behave weird. A lot of users presses enter after inserting a string so the page is reloaded with no parameters and the queries are destroyed. look at that: http://www.parksmania.it/parco_list.php?rid=1 Adding $('form#filtroRapido').submit(function () { return false; }); doesn't work! Has someone already solved this?

  • Client side page call/scrape?

    Here is the problem: I have a web application - a frequently changing notification system - that runs on a series of local computers. The application refreshes every couple of seconds to display the new information. The computers only display info, and do not have keyboards or ANY input device. The issue is that if the connection to the server is lost (say updates are installed and a server must be rebooted), a page not found error is displayed). We must then either reboot all computers that are running this app, OR add a keyboard and refresh the browser, OR try to access each computer remotely and refresh the browser. None of these are good options and result in a lot of frustration. I cannot change the actual application OR server environment. So what I need is some way to test the call to the application, and if an error is returned or it times out, continue trying every minute or so until the connection is reestablished. My idea is to create a client-side page scraper, that makes a JS request to the application (which displays basic HTML), and can run locally on the machine, no server required. If the scrape returns the correct content, it displays it. If not it continues to request the page until the actual page content is returned. Is this possible? What is the best way to do it?

When i hover over the main hover links (blue ones) quickly eg going horizontally quickly hovering each top menu, the some submenus don't close. Assuming that r is parallel to the equator. Getting the radius when A and B is given is trivial using the GLatLng.distanceFrom() method - but doing it the other way around not so.     I don't know how to search about this so I'm kinda lost (the two topics I saw here were closed). I have a news website and I want to warn the user when a new data is inserted on the database. I want to do that like here on StackOverflow where we are warned without reloading the page or like in facebook where you are warned about new messages/notifications without reloading. Which is the best way to do that? Is it some kind of listener with a timeout that is constantly checking the database? It doesn't sounds efficient... Thanks in advance.
