• Use Google Analytics to target different sections of a blog

  I have a blog that targets different regions. The Europe region blog has different sections in different local languages such as English, French and German. I wonder how to track and analyze the different sections. My initial thought is to search the domain URL, but I found it is not a good idea. For example, the URL for the Europe blog is like www.myblog.com/europe. If you click the French section, the URL is like www.myblog.com/europe/language/french. If you click an article in the French section, it is like www.myblog.com/article_name. Notice the article link is not www.myblog.com/language/french/article_name!

  how does one make a shortcut for firefox ( like any other application that has an icon) that has a command firefox 24 run from terminal. Reason i had to uninstall previous version ( 20 ) of firefox was because it was crashing often. This version ( 24 ) is stable ( and looks like it will continue to be so ). I am at present running from terminal firefox 24. Need that I make an icon which opens it and most important overlay menu ( like in mac) which is not happening at present.   Is there a well-known way (or perhaps reusable bit of code) for pixel-perfect collision detection in XNA? I assume this would also use polygons (boxes/triangles/circles) for a first-pass, quick-test for collisions, and if that test indicated a collision, it would then search for a per-pixel collision. This can be complicated, because we have to account for scale, rotation, and transparency. WARNING: If you're using the sample code from the link from the answer below, be aware that the scaling of the matrix is commented out for good reason. You don't need to uncomment it out to get scaling to work.

If you're not experienced with writing a networked game, this is going to be a difficult learning exercise. I know the theory about sockets, servers, clients, protocols, connections and such things. Now I wonder how one can learn to write a network game: How to balance load problems? How to manage the game state? How to keep things synchronized? How to protect the communication and client from reverse engineering? How to work around latency problems? Which things should be computed local and which things on the server? ... Are there any good books, tutorials, sites, interesting articles or other questions regarding this? I'm looking for broad answers, but specific ones are fine too to learn the difference.

• Issues with web hosting at home

  I want to host a small personal website at home. One basic problem I am hitting is, From inside home network, I cannot access my domain name. I have to use the local ip (something like 192.168.1.4) to access the website. This ip is the desktop which is hosting the website. Because of this mapping, I have issues setting up a simple wordpress blog on it too. How do I get past this issue? edit:0 when I try to access www.example.com (my domain) from within my home network, I get redirected to my router login. PS: 1) I am using dyndns service to map my non-static ip to my domain name. 2) My portforwarding works fine.

• Server overhead caused by bots?

  I have one customer website causing overhead (http://www.modacalcio.it/en/by-kind/football-boots.html). With htop opened, I am trying navigate the website and the much load of the website is done by the ajax link being placed on the left side of the website. The website is hosted by a VPS with 3 proc and 2GB RAM, with enough hard with disk space. The real problem is that this website is new and not visited much. From the http-status module I am seeing that the overhead is caused by bots (Google bots, Bing bots, hrefs checker and so on). So I thought that's probably due to those spiders trying to crawl all those links at once - could this be causing this overhead? I have also put rel="nofollow" in those links, but this doesn't keep the bots away. Is there any way through code or Plesk to disable those links to those bots?

• Direct X-forwarding

  I'm struggling to set up X-forwarding between 2 different machines on my local network and my ubuntu desktop. I'm able to connect using ssh x-forwarding one one machine, but the other machine (a Qnap TS-219P II) seems to have a less functional build of SSH on it, and I'd rather use a simpler approach. I've set $DISPLAY, and done 'xauth list $DISPLAY' on the desktop, then 'xauth add ' on the remote machine. From the remote machine, I just get xterm xterm Xt error: Can't open display: 192.168.0.4:0.0 Now, oddly, if I connect via ssh -X, there is a different magic cookie for the tunnelled port (but neither seems to work). I'm wondering if there is a port which needs to be enabled to permit X connections from the LAN? If so, how? The proper solution might be to re-build all the packages which are preventing X-forwarding from working on my QNAP machine, but lets assume for the purposes of this question that I've tried building enough packages on that architecture already and want to run X without the overhead of encryption.

• Should I put an app I wrote on my résumé even if it has low ratings?

  Last summer I wrote an iPhone app for the Toronto Film Festival. The development was pretty rushed, and the design goals were changed multiple times. In particular, the central film list view controller was redesigned three times in the week before launch. I forgot to update one of my functions to match the changed design, and the app shipped with a serious bug. While the app was fairly popular, this bug crippled the app and it got a lot of poor reviews. I fixed the bug as soon as I got a crash report, but it got stuck in the iTunes review process for the duration of the film festival. Should I put this app on my résumé? The app has poor ratings and most of the reviews mention crashes, but it's also the only work experience I have. Additionally, how should I approach this topic in an interview?   I'm using magento 1.4.0 and when I try to get to magento connect and download a plugin the page will say Error: Please check for sufficient write file permissions Your Magento folder does not have sufficient write permissions, which this web based downloader requires. If you wish to proceed downloading Magento packages online, please set all Magento folders to have writable permission for the web server user (example: apache) and press the "Refresh" button to try again. does anyone know how I can fix this problem, thanks Update: the plugin I'm trying to use is MagentoPycho light box so I unpacked the folder into the app/code/local but it still doesn't show in the admin area

• Cannot add DataTables.net javascript into Joomla 1.5

  I've been having this problem where i couldn't add Datatables.net javascript into my Joomla article. I have been trying to include it through Jumi. To say that my editor strips of the tag is somewhat not right as I have been able to execute Google Chart API in Joomla which also uses javascript. Any clue why? The server doesn't support wsgi, but it does support cgi/fcgi/etc. I've scoured google for a simple guide on how to accomplish this, but the only guides I found were from the year 2004 or so. Other guides always assumed that one has root access. So can anyone link a good tutorial for my question or just help me out here? Your help is appreciated :) P.S. I know there are other ways that are definitely better than these two, and if could point me a link to them, would be great but, exactly between those two, which one would you consider to be better, regarding both performance and quality/precision?
