  • Simulating mouse clicks on Mac OSX does not work for some applications.

    Hi, I'm writing an App for Mac OSX 10.6 and later in C++. One part of theapp needs to simulate mouse movement and mouse clicks. I do this currently by posting CGEvent objects using CGEventPost(kCGHIDEventTap, event);. This works, for the msot part - I can simulate mouse movement and clicks just fine, but it seems to fail in some areas. For example: In Mozilla firefox & Safari, I can click on all the menus, but cannot click on a link within a website. When I try, the link is highlighted, but the browser never follows the link. However, I can right-click on a link, select "open link in new tab", and everything works as expected. I can click on the "Dashboard" icon to brink up the dashboard, but I cannot click on the "i" button on any of the dashboard widgets. This inconsistency is along application boundaries - Does anyone have any idea what the cause might be?

In Linux and Mac in flashplayer we have a good performance too. But in browsers performance is quite slow! What can we do to resolve it?

  • How does ps show the argv for all processes on Mac OS X?

    I'm trying to identify when a particular process is running, based on its arguments, on Mac OS X. There may be several processes running with the same name, but only one will have the arguments I'm looking for. The processes are not owned by the same user who will be running my code. They will not have modified their argv in any way. The 'ps' command shows exactly the information that I need. But I would greatly prefer not to have to spawn 'ps' and parse its output. I originally tried the solution from this question, using sysctl, but it turns out that only works for processes you own; see my other question for more info. So how does ps obtain argv information for processes owned by other users?

    I want to draw the desktop on Mac OS X (Snow Leopard). Specifically, I want to achieve the same effect as running: /System/Library/Frameworks/ScreenSaver.framework/Resources/ ScreenSaverEngine.app/Contents/MacOS/ScreenSaverEngine -background (If you’re not near your computer, this displays the screensaver where you would normally see your desktop background.) I know how to make a window without a border (by subclassing NSWindow and overriding initWithContentRect:styleMask:backing:defer: to set the window style to NSBorderlessWindowMask) and without a shadow (setHasShadow:NO.) I know that I can call setLevel:kCGDesktopWindowLevel or kCGDesktopIconWindowLevel to put my window below other windows (see question 418791.) However this isn’t exactly what I want, because a window at this level is still on top of the desktop icons. I want to be on top of the desktop background, but below the icons. My view is opaque. If there is a technique that clobbers the desktop background, that is OK.

    Hi, I need to edit a Flash movie that somebody else developed in Adobe Flash CS3 on a Mac. I'm using Adobe Flash CS4 on Windows (Vista). However, the font that shows up on my computer is much bigger than on the .SWF that he produced. He used a custom font, which I had to add to my system Fonts folder. Because Adobe Flash detected the right fonts on my computer, it didn't map them to substitute fonts. I verified that Flash is indeed using the same font files that he used. I believe the fonts are being rendered differently because I'm using Windows. How do I fix this?

  • Font for mac osx that is as readable and compact as the default xterm (X11) font.

    The font used in xterms is extremely compact yet readable. What font is that? The closest I've found that I can use in other other applications is DejaVu Sans Mono or Bitstream Vera Sans Mono. Those are as compact as xterms vertically but take up more space horizontally. I'd really like to switch from xterms to Terminal.app and this is the one thing holding me back. (I also think that font would be much better for emacs, xcode, or whatever editor.) ADDED: In Terminal.app you can adjust the character and line spacing for any font. Is this possible in other applications? I'm open to any other font that is as compact and readable as the xterm font. Dina looks really nice but it doesn't seem to work for Mac.

  • How do I find iTunes library folder on Mac and Windows?

    I made an application that parse the iTunes library to retrieve its content. It works fine in most cases but if a user moved his library somewhere else than the default iTunes folder (see: http://lifehacker.com/238296/ultranewb--how-to-move-your-itunes-library-to-an-external-drive), then I need a way to find this path. On Mac, I was looking into ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iTunes.plist. There is a setting called "alis:1:iTunes Library Location" but it contains several parameters all concatenated and converted to hexadecimal. On Windows, I found this file "C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunesPrefs.xml" that contains a setting "iTunes Library XML Location:1" but this one is encoded. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Is there anyway to get pdb and Mac Terminal to play nicely?

    When debugging my django apps I use pdb for interactive debugging with pdb.set_trace(). However, when I amend a file the local django webserver restarts and then I cant see what I type in the terminal, until I type reset. Is there anyway for this to happen automatically? It can be real annoying, having to cancel the runserver and reset and restart it all the time. I'm told it doesn't happen on other OS's (ubuntu) so is there anyway to make it not happen on the Mac? (I'm using Snow Leopard).

  • NVIDIA graphics driver on Macbook Pro 10,1

    I just installed 14.04 over my old 12.04 partition on my Macbook Pro 10,1 (which is dual-booting with OS X) by following the instructions here. The only difference is that I'm using rEFInd instead of rEFIt. The proprietary NVIDIA drivers worked great with 12.04, but now I'm unable to boot into Unity with it in 14.04. Generally, I just get a black screen after the Grub menu, though occasionally I get some kind of panic screen like this, where I see errors like: [drm: __gen6_gt_force_wake_mt_get] *ERROR* Timed out waiting for forcewake old ack to clear. [drm: __gen6_gt_wait_for_thread_c0] *ERROR* GT thread status wait timed out [drm: __intel_ring_setup_status_page] *ERROR* render ring: wait for SyncFlush to complete for TLB invalidation timed out etc. Using the nouveau drivers works fine, but everything feels sluggish so I would really like to get the NVIDIA drivers working. Has anyone successfully gotten the NVIDIA drivers working with the GT-650M Mac Edition?

    I use both W7 and Mac OSX on several machines, with sugarsync to sync files and directories. So far no problem. However txt files created by W7 Notepad are displayed differently with Mac TextEdit. And when I edit the file with TextEdit, it looks different again in W7 Notepad. Edits in Notepad again look different on the Mac. Problem areas are: - tabs - carriage returns - fonts. I use and edit one particular txt file on a daily basis: services.txt (here I keep all my web accounts etc). What can I do to keep these exactly the same whilst editing on either Mac or W7? thanks Peter

    I have been battling for a week now to get my Mac (Mountain Lion) to authenticate on my home network's OpenLDAP and Samba. From several sources, like the Ubuntu community docs, and other blogs, and after a hell of a lot of trial and error and piecing things together, I have created a samba.ldif that will pass the smbldap-populate when combined with apple.ldif and I have a fully functional OpenLDAP server and a Samba PDC that uses LDAP to authenticate the OS X Machine. The problem is that when I login, the home directory is not created or pulled from the server. Any help is appreciated, because I'm banging my head against the wall at this point. What I would like is to have that function on my mac and I am wondering if anyone knows how to do this. I understand Ubuntu is Linux and Mac well its from Linux has all the features of Linux but is a mac. The feature may not be there but if it is, it would help me alot.   • Again WPA Connection problem even after changed to latest version ..please help

    I am using hostapd, wireless tools with madwifi for my wireless ap in my board. The WEP, WPA-PSK connections and communications between my board with linux and my desktop PC, Windows XP SP2 (with Olitec USB wireless) are fine. But when I configured the WPA type, the connection seems established but shows the status "TKIP - Key Absent" in the security dialog box. Anyone faced this problem? Am attaching the conf files and the connection status. In the AP side am complaining .     I was a Windows person for more than 10 years. Around 4 months ago, I switched to Mac, and I have never looked back. But there is one thing that bothers me, which is my Mac partition volume is losing space slowly and gradually. I am pretty sure there are a lot of orphaned temporary files laying around in the volume. I know where to find the obsoleted temp files in my Windows partition, how about in Mac OSX?

    I have a Ubuntu desktop. I am running a virtual windows machine using virtual box. Few days before Internet is not working in Ubuntu but it is working in the virtual machine. Even the samba shares are also accessible. I don't know why internet is not working in the base machine.
