    At work, on certain projects I have to manage a lot of images. Most of the time PNG files work the best for what I'm doing. With such a huge amount of images, I've tried using PNG compression with PNG Gauntlet but sometimes the file doesn't really change and sometimes PNG Gauntlet reports it would've made the filesize bigger! Am I just maxing out the compression or is there something more I can do?

    I'm managing a small website, which allows people to register as members. Previously I used a google form to manage member registration, but now as the number of users becomes quite big I am switching to mysql. Currently I have around 500 members in the database, saved in a google spreadsheet. How can I do a bulk import from a google spreadsheet to a table in mysql? BTW I'm using phpmyadmin, so a solution for phpmyadmin is preferable :) Thanks.

    I'm deploying my first django app. I'm familiar with nginx and fastcgi from deploying php-fpm. I can't get python to recognize the urls. I'm also at a loss on how to debug this further. I'd welcome solutions to this problem and tips on debugging fastcgi problems. Currently I get a 404 page regardless of the url and for some reason a double slash For http://www.site.com/admin/ Page not found (404) Request Method: GET Request URL: http://www.site.com/admin// My urls.py from the debug output - which work in the dev server.     Apache 2.2 CentOS Plesk 9.x I am using Plesk to manage my domain names on my virtual host.and GoDaddy for DNS I have created a new sub-domain blog. I can see the httpd.include for example has a new virtualhost entry for blog.example.com I can also see folders have been created for the subdomain blog vhost\example.com folder But when I try to go to blog.example.com - I get an error - basically the host is not getting resolved My site - example.com is working fine otherwise Any idea what could I be missing ? I did try restarting the apache web server as well

    Our websites are being crawled by content thieves on a regular basis. We obviously want to let through the nice bots and legitimate user activity, but block questionable activity. We have tried IP blocking at our firewall, but this becomes to manage the block lists. Also, we have used IIS-handlers, however that complicates our web applications. Is anyone familiar with network appliances, firewalls or application services (say for IIS) that can reduce or eliminate the content scrapers?

  • Why is it not possible to delete IE addons from the IE interface?

    You can disable but you can't delete them from the "Manage addons" dialog. In IE 7 there was a delete button but I've never seen it enabled, in IE 8 I don't see the button at all. My guess would be that IE addons are registered as COM components and you cannot track who uses that component besides IE itself so it would be unsafe to delete.

    At ultradns.com or on comwired.com you can select multiple A records depending on location; x.com (United States) 174.1.1.1 x.com (Europe) 65.2.2.2 So requests are routed based on proximity/where they come from. You can do that as many times as you like, which is a great service for our distributed application needs. However, we want to manage this on our own servers. Do you know any linux package that does this ?

    Based on the results of this post, I'm trying to install Windows SteadyState on a bunch of computers with no internet connection (but all with legitimate copies of windows XP pro). The problem is that the installer asks to be connected to the Windows Genuine Advantage server, and I can't manage that. Is there a workaround? I can use internet at my home, but cannot have the school install and pay for a connection. Maybe there's another program that would work just as well?

    Hello, I have to manage two domains : compagny.com copagny.bigcompagny.com I use Bind9 on Debian Lenny. I want to use one Zone file for both domains. If I ask for server.compagny.com, it will give me address 10.0.0.1 If I ask for server.compagny.bigcompagny.com, it will give me the same address 10.0.0.1 I don't want to create twice the same files for my DNS Server : Too hard to maintain.     My client gave me a key and a secret to manage his EC2 things, but to make one of my AMI's available to run I have to fill in the Account Number. Is it possible to deduce the account number from the key and the secret? Thanks to my obsession with virtualisation the number of emails I need to read (and then often discard without further action) is becoming too much. I don't mind creating the backups on the fly, with the snapshot mechanism, but I would like an easy wrapper to manage it for me. What is the simplest way to set this up? How much would this cost me, for a micro instance?
