• Webshop for digital goods with voucher / gift card system [duplicate]

  This question already has an answer here: Which Ecommerce Script Should I Use? 1 answer I'm searching for a webshop which provides the following: The shop offers digital goods (like mp3) User can buy a voucher / gift card @Reseller (Or there is a code provided in the CD) User can enter his code @ webshop and gets the download (unregistered) User can enter his code @ webshop and download is added to his/her library (registered) optional: Resellers can buy codes from the Webshop I already tried prestashop as it looks quite nice. But it needs a lot of custom programming (and has a very strange voucher-system). Customer has to add the File into the basket and add the voucher at checkout. I want to skip that ;) Is there a Webshop (Or CMS + Plugin) which provides the things I need? (it could also be a CMS with a Storage/Folder Plugin (like joomla + K2) and a possibility to activate downloads via unique Codes.) Any ideas are highly appreciated :) Thanks in advance.

• How Service Component Architecture (SCA) Can Be Incorporated Into Existing Enterprise Systems

  After viewing Rob High’s presentation “The SOA Component Model” hosted on InfoQ.com, I can foresee how Service Component Architecture (SCA) can be incorporated in to an existing enterprise. According to IBM’s DeveloperWorks website, SCA is a set of conditions which outline a model for constructing applications/systems using a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA). In addition, SCA builds on open standards such as Web services. In the future, I can easily see how some large IT shops could potently divide development teams or work groups up into Component/Data Object Groups, and Standard Development Groups. The Component/Data Object Group would only work on creating and maintaining components that are reused throughout the entire enterprise. The Standard Development Group would work on new and existing projects that incorporate the use of various components to accomplish various business tasks. In my opinion the incorporation of SCA in to any IT department will initially slow down the number of new features developed due to the time needed to create the new and loosely-coupled components. However once a company becomes more mature in its SCA process then the number of program features developed will greatly increase.   If you are using the Scrum for Team System (aka Conchango Scrum Template), it has hit RTM and it is available for download.  First you will need to register and then you will ne able to access the goods. There is also a very well laid out Getting Started with v3 guide, put together by Crispin Parker. Note:  Very important to know and consider, is the fact there is no upgrade or migration strategy laid out from v2.2.  So you are left to your own devices on that one.  There are plenty of discussions going on as far as making it happen.  Don’t get me wrong v2.2 work items will be present and you will be able to use them, just don’t expect the v3 template to trigger when  adding new work items. For now, get TFS in place, install the template and start fresh.  The Workbench should be released soon too, and that makes it a great component to this solution.

• HD video editing system with Truecrypt

  I'm looking to do hi-def video editing and transcoding on an unencrypted standard partition, with Truecrypt on the system partition for sensitive data. I'm aiming to keep certain data private but still have performance where needed. Goals: Maximum, unimpacted, performance possible for hi-def video editing, encryption of video not required Encrypt system partition, using Truecrypt, for web/email privacy, etc. in the event of loss In other words I want to selectively encrypt the hard drive - i.e. make the system partition encrypted but not impact the original maximum performance that would be available to me for hi-def/HD video editing. The thinking is to use an unencrypted partition for the video and set up video applications to point at that. Assuming that they would use that partition only for their workspace and not the encrypted system partition, then I should expect to not get any performance hit. Would I be correct? I guess it might depend on the application, if that app is hard-wired to use the system partition always for temporary storage during editing and transcoding, or if it has to be installed on the C: system partition always. So some real data on how various apps behave in the respect would be useful, e.g. Adobe, Cyberlink, Nero etc. etc. I have a Intel i7 Quad-core (8 threads) 1.6Ghz (up to 2.8Ghz turbo-boost) 4Gb, 7200rpm SATA, nvidia HP laptop. I've read the excellent posting about the general performance impact of truecrypt but the benchmarks weren't specific enough for my needs where I'm dealing with HD-video and using a non-encrypted partition to maintain max performance.

  I am a php mysql developer ... just an (below) average. and i am interested in the way television and radio are broadcasted over internet live. i want to know how it works and and what are its requirements (which package of which programming language offers the best). i must admit that i am a complete layman but i expect it do by next half month or year or so. And please clarify me Websites are stored in servers. From my desktop, i want to broadcast some video, then i need to connect to webserver(to upstream the video). Is there an application to do that (or do i have to code that or embed in my web application and which programming language would be suitable(does python support that))? and i also need a script to handle the upstreamed video or audio(can i do that with php)?

• "Waiting for Sound System to respond." error dialog

  Hello guys. I'm having a nasty problem with the Sound Menu on my Ubuntu 10.10 Installation. What happens is that the sound control icon is blocked, and i can't control the master volume. If i try to get to the Sound Preferences i get a little Pop-Up Window saying: "Waiting for Sound System to respond...". Don't know what to do... Apart of that, sound works great.   Is an Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) an important architectural piece to a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), or is it just vendor hype in order to sell a particular product such as SOA-in-a-box? According to IBM.com, an ESB is a flexible connectivity infrastructure for integrating applications and services; it offers a flexible and manageable approach to service-oriented architecture implementation. With this being said, it is my personal belief that ESBs are an important architectural piece to any SOA. Additionally, generic design patterns have been created around the integration of web services in to ESB regardless of any vendor. • Icons missing from launcher, system settings, folders

  Various icons from launcher are missing. The first one is from Home folder menu the second from Terminal the last one from Desktop Switcher. This happened after I upgraded to 11.10 from 11.04. I have created a New (Untitled Folder) folder in my desktop and the icon is missing too. The same occurs in System Settings menu too. Some icons like Appearance, Keyboard Layout are missing too. Sorry but I can't post a screenshot due to my reputation. Any suggestions?

• Version hash to solve Event Sourcing problems

  The basic examples I have seen about Event Sourcing do not deal with out of order events, clock offsets in different systems and late events from system partitions. I am wondering if more polished Event Sourcing implementations rely on a version stamp of modified objects? For example, assuming that the system is rendering the entity Client with version id ABCD1234. If the user modifies the entity, the system will create an event with the modified fields AND the version id reference to which version it applies. Later the event responder would detect out of order events and merge them.

  This USB thing is driving me crazy. 2 problems in time span of 3 hours. • Get access to files on old HD installation and remove system files

  I have been fooling with ubuntu for only a year or so. Added SSD installed ubuntu(12.04 64bit) connected old drive with ubuntu on it. everything seems to work well, except for access to some files. I would like to do two things: 1) move the swap file from the SSD to the partition on the HD. 2) remove ubuntu system files and gain full access to my other files. I can still remove the SSD and run ubuntu from the HD, so if I am approaching this incorrectly please advise. Thanks in advance Blake

  We've all seen countless examples of software that ships with "minimum system requirements" like the following: Windows XP/Vista/7 1GB RAM 200 MB Storage How are these generally determined? Obviously sometimes there are specific constraints (if the program takes 200 MB on disk then that is a hard requirement). Aside from those situations, many times for things like RAM or processor it turns out that more/faster is better with no hard constraint. How are these determined? Do developers just make up numbers that seem reasonable? Does QA go through some rigorous process testing various requirements until they find the lowest settings with acceptable performance? My instinct says it should be the latter but is often the former in practice.

• Repairing or recreating a bootloader on a multi-booting EFI GPT system

  Reinstalling Ubuntu messed up my boot loader so I I tried to fix it with boot repair. It detected my OSX installation and asked about removing the "separate boot/EFI". It also said my partition was full despite the fact that it wasn't and asked me to remove stuff. I declined both and proceeded. It's been stuck at the "purge and reinstall the GRUB" stage for half an hour. Is this typical, bearing in mind I have a fast SSD and CPU? Is there a better way to re-install grub on a multi-booting UEFI system? Does my pastebin provide any insight?

• Scalable distributed file system for blobs like images and other documents

  Cassandra & HBase both do not efficiently support storage of blobs like images. Storing directly on HDFS stresses the Namenode because of huge number of files. Facebook uses Haystack for images and attachments storage, but this is not open source. So is Lustre a good choice for distributed blob storage? I have read that Amazon S3 is used by many, but this would cost money and personally, I would not like to rely on third party system. What are other suggestions?

• Making more complicated systems(entity-component-system model question)

  I'm using a model where entities are collections of components and components are just data. All the logic goes into systems which operate on components. Making basic systems(for Rendering and handling collision) was easy. But how do I do more compilcated systems? For example, in a CollisionSystem I can check if entity A collides with entity B. I have this code in CollisionSystem for checking if B damages A: if(collides(a, b)) { HealthComponent* hc = a->get<HealthComponent(); hc.reduceHealth(b->get<DamageComponent>()->getDamage()); But I feel that this code shouldn't belong to Collision system. Where should code like this be and which additional systems should I create to make this code generic?

• Keep getting messages about internal system errors

  I keep getting popups about internal system errors (see screenshot below) on irregular intervals (several times a day), that I don't know what to do about. If I continue through the dialog and try to report the error back to the Ubuntu project, I get a message stating that development on this version of Ubuntu has been completed, and that I should ask for help here if I don't know what to do about it. I don't. If I show the details of the error message, the "executable path" parameter shows /usr/share/apport/apport-gpu-error-intel.py. Is this a bug I should report to Launchpad, or just a configuration error somewhere? If it's a bug, how do I collect the data I (and the devs) need? Update in response to comment: I am running an ASUS N53SN, sporting an Intel Core i7 2630QM CPU and an NVidia GeForce 550M GPU.

• file copy error from system to cifs mount

  When coping a file greater than 64kB from an Ubuntu server to a CIFS mounted windows share, most of the data is copied, but it seems the last chunk doesn't get copied. The size doesn't match, and the md5 check sums don't match. I have plenty of file space, but then I use cp, I get the following... cp: closing `cloudBackup/asdf.txt': No space left on device Using rsync, I get the following... rsync: close failed on "/home/fluffy/cloudBackup/.asdf.txt.qrBWe6": No space left on device (28) rsync error: error in file IO (code 11) at receiver.c(752) [receiver=3.0.8] rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (29 bytes received so far) [sender] rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(601) [sender=3.0.8] I have full read/write permissions on the mounted share. I can copy locally and between the mount and system via SSH just fine. Any ideas? Thank you

• How USB drives goes after system hard drives

  I am using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. My hard drives usually comes as: sda, with 'sudo blkid' and if I plug-in any USB drive, they comes as: sdb, sdc etc; after sda. That's fine!!! But problem arises after I restart my laptop with connecting those USB drives. They alter and comes first and hard drive goes to the end, like: 'sudo blkid' shows, sda, sdb for USB drives and sdc for hard drives. It's making problem to mount with /etc/fstab. I couldn't find any solutions for this. I would like to have any USB drives after my system hard drives, as in Windows. Please, help me at this point. Thanking you. Raihan

  I'm putting together a presentation to talk about and demo node.js to client-side JavaScript developers. The language concepts and syntax are not an issue for them, so instead I'd like to get right into things and show off node's abilities that differ from client-side scripting. There are numerous modules available in the NPM registry and many people have much more experience with the registry than I do. I'm looking for a selection of node modules based on recommendations from your experience that show a variety of uses for node that are practical, broadly useful and can be demonstrated with a small code sample without requiring much domain knowledge on behalf of the audience. Neat and impressive is good too - I can throw in a couple of shock and awe items for cool factor. To be fair, top-voted answers will get most consideration for inclusion. My hope is this will result in a well-rounded demonstration of node technology.

• How to prevent system to generate log file

  My Question is little bit surprising, but i need it. I am using a slow processor laptop, now i found that HDD has some bad sectors and HDD response becomes slow. But disk health is ok(according to smart tools). I can not change my HDD right now. So decide to reduce disk operation. How do i prevent system to generate log file or any other file which are used to keep history? I know LOG file is very important but i don't care it right now. Please help.
