• What is the best approach to manipulate assets in Drupal from .Net application?

  I'm beginning work on a project that will access a Drupal site to create nodes on the site. This includes file uploading, as the project is to allow people to upload pictures en mass to a Drupal site with minimal ado. Note that my application is written in .Net. What I would like to know is the best approach to achieve the same? Based on initial research it looks like there are several options: 1. XML-RPC 2. Custom PHP module deployed in drupal. But, what is the way to invoke it from .Net? 3. Use a cron job to pick up the files from a watch folder. And add a cron_hook in my module to deploy the file.

• Strange CSS Positioning issue with a fader on a responsive site

  I'm developing a prototype responsive wordpress theme version of my homepage. I'm running into issues with the fader on the homepage. http://dev.epicwebdesign.ca/epicblog/ When the image switches, it uses position:absolute to overlay the pictures, then goes back to position:relative. I need to make the absolute be relative to the bottom left corner of the menu instead of the top left corner of #wrap so it doesn't overlap. I tried putting it in a container div like this: http://wiki.orbeon.com/forms/doc/contributor-guide/browser#TOC-Absolutely-positioned-box-inside-a-box-with-overflow:-auto-or-hidden but that doesn't seem to work. Any ideas? There are major CSS compatibility issues in IE, try it in chrome. It should look similar to http://epicwebdesign.ca. When the browser window is shrunk horizontially, the whole theme compensates.

• Simple javascript document.write isn't working...

  Here's the code in question I'm trying to create a simple application - each of the three men has a rel="x" attribute attached them. I'm using var regionId = $('img.selected-region').attr('rel'); to make the rel of the currently selected item the value of reginId. I want to test this out by performing a simple document.write(regionId) command in a div under the pictures of the men. However, it's not working. Have I put the var regionId definition in the right place in the script window? I'm completely new to javascript so the syntax is confusing to me - and help would be greatly appreciated.

  Not sure if this is the right place to post this, or if it should be under programmers.stackexchange... Anywho, a couple of my friends run a business and they asked me to build them a public website. It will only be used for information about the company with soe pictures. No transactions will be involved. Right now I work for a company where I build internal websites, and do alot of backend programming in C#. I understand html, css, jquery, etc. so I feel like I am completely capable of building a website for them. However, I do not know all the basic knowledge to building one. For example, where should we host the files, what type of security issues do I need to be aware of, what's the best software to use for developing websites (I use visual studio at work), where can I find some design techniques, etc. Any help is appreciated.

• Uploadify and Image Compression

  Hi, I am using Uploadify on one of my client's web sites to allow them to upload a large amount of pictures at once to their photo gallery. I am seeing issues lately. They seem to upload large photographs (3 MB and above). I am wondering, is it possible to compress (reduce their size) on the client side, instead of doing it on the server (just like facebook does it). I know I could easily do it on the server, but I am working on another project right now, where I am expecting a large flow of photo uploads. It would require significant amount of CPU time to process them all. So I thought, I'd ask about the client side processing. Thanks.

• Picture position in a desktop background slideshow

  I'm using windows 7 and I have a slideshow for my desktop background. I have pictures that are all of varying sizes, some are smaller then my screen's resolution, some are the same, and some are much larger. To look good, smaller wallpapers need to have their picture position set to 'center' (where the picture is centered on the screen and the background color fills up the edges). And the larger backgrounds need to be set to 'fit' (where the picture is scaled down so the entire image is shown on the screen). I can't seem to figure out a way to have the picture position intelligently change in my background slideshow so that the wallpapers always look good. Any insight?

  Hi Stackers, What is the best way to access my models and forms from a controller of a module? Let's explain with "pictures": /application/module/storage/controllers/IndexController.php needs to call readAction in the class called storage_Model_Files in /application/module/storage/models/Files.php I've made this app's dir structure and these forms and models with zf.sh (Zend_Tool). I've read about all sorts of ways of manually including these files. I want to lazy load them much like everything is done automatically with the default module. I can't seem to find how in the docs. Does that make sense? I have: resources.frontController.moduleDirectory = APPLICATION_PATH "/modules" in my application.ini file. So I can access my controllers fine. Thanks for your help!

  Hello Experts, Developing using MVC-3, Razor, C# Been searching around and cannot find advice I'm looking for. My site will contain user-uploaded images (possibly a high number). What is the best practice for managing these pictures (placement, breakdown into sub-folders, etc...)? Where do I place them that will prevent them from getting accidentally blown away if I republish my site periodically? If there are any good articles or blog posts, that would be helpful.   HI, I am trying to retrive the filname of the image file from a file path in my code. My filepath: c:\mydocuments\pictures\image.jpg which method can i use in c# to get he filename of the above mentioned path. Like String file = image.jpg I have used the system.drawing to get he path, but it returns null. my code: string file = System.drawing.image.fromfile(filepath,true); Is this the right way to get the image file name or is there any other inbuilt method in c#. Pls help me on this?

• PhysX: Joint friction/"stiff" joints

  I'm working with physx (trying to add ik to ragdoll) at the moment. For some reason, all ragdoll joints are frictionless, and as a result, ragdoll tend to "wobble", especially when it is hung in the air and is connected to several moving kinematic actors. I would like to add friction to the joints and make them "stiff". Imagine a door (with extremely rusty hinge) that needs to be kicked several times to be open - i.e. it rotates around the hinge, but not much, quickly stops, and large force is required to make it rotate. Or think about art manikins (see google images for pictures) - their limbs move around, but they do not swing around freely. Unfortunately, I can't find anything related to joint friction in physx. I've checked documentation, google, and headers, and couldn't find anything useful. So, how do I implement stiff joints/joint friction with physx? (I think) I've seen physx games without that problem, so apparently there should be some way to do that.

• Arranging image thumbnails

  I am using JQuery hover zoom (http://jmar.github.com/jquery-hoverZoom/) Its working fine. The thumbnails that I have is of different sizes . So I stated using the masonry plugin for arranging it. Both of them work fine when isolated but collectively the masonry plugin doesn't work as intended. Pictures start to overlap each other. What I feel is that both Masonry and the JQuery hover zoom , interact with the same div element which causes the problem, Both are adding their attributes to it. How can I fix this ? Is there some way that I arrange the rows without the masonry? So that the conflict wont occur ?

  I'm trying to write an application that can be used to create pictures that look like paintings using simulated brush strokes. Are there any good sources for simple ways of simulating brush strokes? For example, given a list of mouse positions that the user has dragged the mouse through, a brush width and a brush texture, how do I determine what to draw to the canvas? I've tried angling the brush texture in the direction of the mouse movement and dabbing several brush texture images along the path, but it doesn't look great. I think I'm missing something where the brush texture should shrink and grow on corners. Any simple to follow links would be appreciated. I've found complex academic papers on simulating e.g. oil paints but I just want a basic algorithm to use that produces OK results if possible.

• Optimizing a fluid grid layout

  I recently just added a grid layout, but I can't figure out how to make my links work. The grid that I used is the 1140 one at http://cssgrid.net/. I studied the source code of that website, and tried to make my page like theirs, but when I put everything in it made mine worse, and the grid didn't even work. This is how my website is supposed to look http://spencedesign.netau.net/singaporehome.html and this is how it does http://spencedesign.netau.net/home.html And when you reduce the size, it doesn't look like it's supposed to. When you minimize it I want the pictures(links) to be two per row, then one per row depending on how small the page is. I also want the quote to turn into different rows when it is too small for it. But I can't figure out how to make the page look normal regularly let alone make it look good with a smaller browser. Thanks!

• Android: Is decreasing size of .png files have some effect to resulted Bitmap in memory

  I'm writing game with a large amount of .png pictures. All worked fine. Than I added new activity with WebView and got memory shortage. After that I made some experiment - replace game .png images with ones that just fully filled with some color. As result memory shortage had gone. But I suppose that Bitmap internally hold each pixel separately so such changes should have no effect. Maybe this because of initial images have alpha channel and my test images have not it? But actually question is: Will decreasing .png images files sizes make some effect on decreasing usage of VM application heap or not?

  Hello, I'm pretty new to the iPhone developing scene, and I am designing an app for a high school band program. Part of the app needs to be an image gallery that retrieves photos from a directory on the band's website and lists them in the thumbnail view. I can't figure out how to create a thumsview that isn't directly linked to specific pictures. I currently have this setup to work with a UIWebView that points to a PHP photo album designed to look like the iPhone Photo Album. This method works, but it is not ideal, and the navigation is obviously a bit less than what would be expected. Is Three20 the right tool for this job? If not, what should I be using? Thanks!

• PHP readdir() not returning files in alphabetical order

  I am reading through a directory with some pictures and such using a pretty simple implementation of readdir() like the following: if ($handle = opendir($path)) { while (false !== ($szFilename = readdir($handle))) { if ($szFilename[0] !== '.') { if (is_file($path.$szFilename)) { // do stuff } } } } The problem that I am having is that the files are not being read in alphabetical order as the docs for readdir() state: Returns the filename of the next file from the directory. The filenames are returned in the order in which they are stored by the filesystem. Another weird thing is that, on the local testing server, the same code works great. This is running on a server using the LAMP stack in both cases. I know that I can build an array and just sort it, but I was wondering if I was missing something in what I was doing.   Hello everyone, I have a GWT-FormPanel on my website, where people can upload pictures and answer some questions. It's working very well. The only problem is: I would like to provide a feedback to the user (for example: 0% to 100%) during the actual file process. But I have no idea how I can do that. I think that's a very common issue, that's why I would like to ask you guys if you know any tutorial or example that could help me to solve this problem. I've already tried GWT-Upload, but it does not do what I want: I have a submit button at the end of the FormPanel and the GWTUpload has it's own "SEND" button, which I don't want to have. • How to reference an object in a lower fragment in android

  I am trying to build a help screen that is going to go on a mediaplayer. The idea is to put a fragment with a transparent theme on top of the current view. (See How do I create a help overlay like you see in a few Android apps and ICS? for the basic idea). Now, I understand the steps in the mentioned link, but how do I connect the circles and arrows and paragraphs next to each one (explaining what each one was) to the lower object? Example, I have an object: R.id.music_button and I want there to be and arrow that points to music button. Trying to support as many devices as we do it will be very difficult to just draw a few pictures as part of the top layout and expect them to line up. Again, how do I reference an object on a fragment below the top level? Thanks

She has over 2GB -size repo already and growing all the time (mostly appended material i.e. more school notes, different formats, pdf, pictures and scanned, some text -files, etc). • Does DB2 OS/390 BLOB support .docx file

  ASP.net app inserts .docx fileinto a row on DB2 OS/390 Blob table. A different VB.net app gets the DB2 OS/390 Blob data. When Microsoft Word tries to open the .docx file Microsoft Word pops up a message that the data is corrupted. Word will fix the data so the file can be viewed. I've seen some examples where .docx can be converted to .doc but they only talk about stripping out the text. Some of our .docx have pictures in them. Any ideas?

• Portfolio problem on a flash template

  Hi guys! I have another question about the same template as before. in my website. (www.nikstudio.cl) I need to show in the webpage's portfolio (menu "trabajos") show a few pictures. If you click the thumbnail picture you can see the full size version of that thumbnail. My problem are two: First the picture one and two are the same as five a six ( and i can't change it cause i don't find the place to do this.) And the second is when I copy and paste (in a new layer) of the movieclip "sprite 656" i get in the swf a new picture on the portfolio but i can't click it.   Hello, I am searching for a rails-based CMS that provide rich text editing feature (e.g. I need an interface very similar to that of Wordpress where you can easily style up your static pages and upload pictures without knowing any css or html) AND easy to be dropped into an existing rails application. Camtose, RadiantCMS and few other ones did not seem to offer the rich interface I was looking for. RefineryCMS had conflict with my existing user authentication and I did not really find a solution to it. I am just wondering if there are any rails based cms that can meet my needs.
