• Converting files to blob to save in database

  I have an old user site that we are currently updating. The site's users have previously uploaded profile pics that are stored in a directory. I am now wanting to keep these profile images in the database, (easy to backup all data) but am having trouble working out how to do it. There are a lot of tutorials talking about do ing this from files that have just been uploaded and using the tmp name etc, but how can I re-create with files that have already been uploaded? I have looked into $data = file_get_contents($filename); Which seems to create a binary file, but doesn't seem to save in database with: mysql_query("UPDATE profiles SET company_logo = mysql_real_escape_string('".$data."') WHERE id = 1 ") or die(mysql_error());

• Best way to save info in hash

  I have a webpage that the user inputs data into a textarea and then process and display it with some javascript. For example if the user types: _Hello_ *World* it would do something like: <underline>Hello</underline> <b>World</b> Or something like that, the details aren't important. Now the user can "save" the page to make it something like site.com/page#_Hello_%20*World* and share that link with others. My question is: Is this the best way to do this? Is there a limit on a url that I should be worried about? Should I do something like what jsfiddle does? I would prefer not to as the site would work offline if the full text would be in the hash, and as the nature of the site is to be used offline, the user would have to first cache the jsfiddle-like hash before they could use it. What's the best way to do this?

• Save information from MS crash reporter?

  On Windows XP when a process crashes, we get a dialog box with a link: "To view technical information about the error report, click here." The "click here" link brings up a whole lot of information in a window, but no obvious way to save it to a file. Is there a way? It would be very nice to be able to send that data to several different external vendors we're working with. The only other option I see in the dialog box is to send it to Microsoft, but this crash is likely not Microsoft's fault and there is no reason to send it to them.

  Hi guys, I've been trying today all day to figure this out and I have no idea. What I want: Get the title and meta description of any kind of website. Save this info to utf table in mysql. What the problem is? Different sites have different charsets which results in that some have chinese, some contain umlauts (german), then we have russian and so on.. I've tried preg_match which works for some while not for others, i've tried DOMdocument which is the same as preg_match. Is there any class available that will do this? Hope someone can help, thanks.

  I want to create a Google Closure Compiler plugin for eclipse. I already have a popup menu entry to compile a Javascript file to its minified version. But it would be more than helpful if every time you save a *.js that minified version would be generated automatically. I read/heard about natures and builders, extension points and IResourceChangeListener. But I did not manage to figure out what I should use and especially how to get it to work. Is there a working example of a plugin that does "the same kind of thing" so I can work from that or a tutorial to write such?   I'm doing operation on a dataset containing data from a sql table named Test_1 and then get the updated records using the DataSet.GetChanges(DataRowState.Modified) function. Then i try to save the dataset containing the updated records on a different table than the source one (the table is names Test and has the same structure as Test_1) using the following statement: sqlDataAdapter.Update(changesDataSet,"Test"); I'm getting the following error : Update unable to find TableMapping['Test'] or DataTable 'Test' I'm new to ado.net and don't even know if it"s something possible. Any advice is welcome. Just to provide a bit of context. ETL jobs are importing data in temp table with same structure as the original but with _jobid suffix. Right after a rule engine is doing validation before updating the original table.

• Why will network manager not allow me save my VPN settings?

  I am trying to configure am OpenVPN client on my laptop. I am running Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit. When I open network manager and import the VPN settings from the premade config folder everything takes. The problem is when I try to save the settings, the save button at the bottom of the network manager applet is greyed out. Further more when I hover over the button it says Authenticate to save this connection for all users of this machine. The problem is I did not check the box Available to all users it was already checked and it is also greyed out and won't let me manipulate it. What is going on? Is this a bug or is there something I am missing? Any help would be wonderful.

  I would like to display all the items of custom content type of Animals in a SharePoint content query WebPart. After choosing the appropriate values in the web part editor and click on Save I got this error: Cannot save all of the property settings for this Web Part. There is a problem with one or more of the field values below. But when I examine all the values below , it does not flag any error information. I finally manage to locate the error flag after I expand the presentation section. I then delete the text in the Link textbox , now I can save the settings. However , I think the error message should have been more specific so that users can quickly locate the error. The worst part for this is that I did not even change anything in the presentation section, I merely configure the Source in the Query section. Well, I guess I am still new to SharePoint, I just have to get used to these generic error message ):

• Location of Java dump heap file?

  Well this is embarrassing ... I'm starting to play with the Eclipse Memory Analyzer to look for Java memory leaks on a Windows box. Step 1 is to obtain a heap dump file. To do this< I start my Java (javaw.exe) process from within Eclipse and connect to it with jconsole. Then on the jconsole MBeans tab I click the dumpHeap button. The first time I did this, I saw a pop-up saying it had created the heap dump file, but not giving its name or location. Now whenever I do a dumpHeap again while connected to a different javaw.exe process, jconsole says: Problem invoking dumpHeap : java.io.IOException: File exists and of course doesn't give its name or path. Where could it be? I've searched my C: drive (using cygwin command line tools) for files containing "hprof" or "java_pid" or "heapdump" and didn't find anything plausible. I've even used the Windows search to look for all files in my Eclipse workspace that have changed in the last day. I'm using the Sun Java 1.6 JVM, and don't have -XX:HeapDumpPath set.

• Save a PDF created with FPDF php library in a MySQL blob field

  I need to create a pdf file with the fpdf library and save it in a blob field in my MySQL database. The problem is, when I try to retrieve the file from the blob field and send it to the browser for the download, the donwloaded file is corrupted and does not display correctly. The same pdf file is correctly displayed if I send it immediately to the browser without storing it in the db, so it seems some of the data gets corrupted when is inserted in the db. My code is something like this: $pdf = new MyPDF(); //class that extends FPDF and create te pdf file $content = $pdf->Output("", "S"); //return the pdf file content as string $sql = "insert into mytable(myblobfield) values('".addslashes($content)."')"; mysql_query($sql); to store the pdf, and like this: $sql = "select myblobfield from mytable where id = '1'"; $result = mysql_query($sql); $rs = mysql_fetch_assoc($result); $content = stripslashes($rs['myblobfield']); header('Content-Type: application/pdf'); header("Content-Length: ".strlen(content)); header('Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=myfile.pdf'); print $content; to send it to the browser for downloading. If I change my code to: $pdf = new MyPDF(); $pdf->Output(); //send the pdf to the browser the file is correctly displayed, so I assume that is correctly generated and the problem is in the storing in the db. • VS2008 javascript debugger IE8 "there is no source code available for the current location"

  I have almost the same problem as this unanswered question. The only difference is I'm using VS2008, but I'm in an MVC project calling this javascript function: function CompanyChange(compCtrl) { alert(compCtrl.value); debugger; var test; for (var i = 0; i < document.all.length; i++) { test = document.all[i]; } } I hit the alert, then I get the message "there is no source code available for the current location." At which point the page becomes unresponsive and I have to manually stop the debugger just to shut it down. I've logged into another machine and ran this exact code and it works fine, I hit the debugger and can step through. I've checked to make sure all settings in VSToolsOptionsDebugging are identical as well as IEOptionsAdvanced and they are. Both machines are Windows 7 Enterprise edition 32-bit, VS2008, IE8. I've also tried attaching a process manually in VS, and using the 'Developer Tools' in IE which didn't work (said there already was a process attached). I was hoping someone may have had this problem and found a work-around because I've already done a lot of searching and tried all the options I've read. Anyone else run into this? Thank you, Jeff

• SubmitChanges doesn't save but removes inserts from change set, no errors

  Hi Everybody, I have a deeper question regarding debug functionality of Linq to Sql SubmitChanges() Function. I want to save a record in a table of a locally cached db (localdbcache: server SqlExpress 2008 client SqlCE). Before calling SubmitChanges I can find the new item via DataContext.GetChangeSet(). After calling Submit Changes, the items to insert have been removed from the ChangeSet. (That's what this function is supposed to do.) There are no Changes Conflicts and no error in the db's log output. No Exception at all.   hi everyone Is it possible to save text of textarea (flash 10, as3, cs5) in some variable or so and with its textformat (more than one color) and then reuse it to replace text in textarea? I tried saving htmlText of textarea but the problem is when i replace it in textarea tags causes problem. There will always be another extra line. • Debugging SIGABRT within NSManagedObjectContext -save:

  From inside NSManagedObjectContext -save: I am getting this message: Assertion failed: (_Unwind_SjLj_Resume() can't return), function _Unwind_SjLj_Resume, file /SourceCache/libunwind/libunwind-24.1/src/Unwind-sjlj.c, line 326. Program received signal: “SIGABRT”. warning: Unable to read symbols for /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/4.2.1 (8C148)/Symbols/Developer/usr/lib/libXcodeDebuggerSupport.dylib (file not found). This happens when I delete an Experiment object with to-many with Run which has to-many with Sample which has to-one with Data. Experiment also has to-many with Page which has to-many with Display which has to-many to Run. I mention this to point out the cyclical nature of the graph. Here is a simplified graph of model: I had been using Delete Rules but have now switched to "No Action" delete rules in combination with -prepareForDeletion methods for all of these classes. This change made no difference. In both cases, the error message is the same. Interestingly, when I relaunch the app, all the objects that were marked for deletion have been deleted. Also, if an Experiment has no Run objects, then deletion works without incidence. For that matter, deleting a single Run from an Experiment also works. I am hoping that someone has seen something like this and can offer advice on what would cause this. Or, if someone has advice on how to get libXcodeDebuggerSupport.dylib for iOS 4.2.1, that might also be helpful. Update: I followed advice found here and was able to get Xcode to find libXcodeDebuggerSupport.dylib for iOS 4.2.1. But this did not help at all in diagnosing problem - which persists.

• PDCurses TUI C++ Win32 console app - Access violation reading location

  I have downloaded pdcurses source and was able to successfully include curses.h in my project, linked the pre-compiled library and all good. After few hours of trying out the library, I saw the tuidemo.c in the demos folder, compiled it into an executable and brilliant! exactly what I needed for my project. Now the problem is that it's a C code, and I am working on a C++ project in VS c++ 2008. The files I need are tui.c and tui.h How can I include that C file in my C++ code? I saw few suggestions here but the compiler was not too happy with 100's of warnings and errors. How can I go on including/using that TUI pdcurses includes!? • Format Java Code in Netbeans / Eclipse, but save it differently

  Hi all, I asked a related question before, but I guess the root of the question is. Let's say I have 2 developers on the team and they both like to look at code in different formats. One likes the braces to be on a new line and the other doesn't. The approach I was using before is that anytime we run a build, the code is automatically formatted according to the Java/Sun standards using Jalopy; however, I would like the developers to be as happy as possible. They can change the font size, font color, background color, etc. If I am currently using the Jalopy Maven plugin to format code, can/should I write a hook to SVN that calls mvn jalopy:format on the project when it's checked in? Is this reliable? That solution doesn't work 100% because it requires the developer to manually format the source code to their liking every time they open a file that hasn't been formatted yet. I was thinking an IDE plugin would be nice as it could automatically format the source to their liking and then save it as another. What other options do I have to ensure the code is formatted nicely on checkin? Thanks, Walter

  I am reading a csv file that has about has about 50,000 lines and 1.1MiB in size (and can grow larger). In Code1, I use String to process the csv, while in Code2 I use StringBuilder (only one thread executes the code, so no concurrency issues) Using StringBuilder makes the code a little bit harder to read that using normal String class. Am I prematurely optimizing things with StringBuilder in Code2 to save a bit of heap space and memory? • JVM segmentation faults due to "Invalid memory access of location"

  I have a small project written in Scala 2.9.2 with unit tests written using ScalaTest. I use SBT for compiling and running my tests. Running sbt test on my project makes the JVM segfault regularly, but just compiling and running my project from SBT works fine. Here is the exact error message: Invalid memory access of location 0x8 rip=0x10959f3c9 [1] 11925 segmentation fault sbt I cannot locate a core dump anywhere, but would be happy to provide it if it can be obtained. Running java -version results in this: java version "1.6.0_37" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_37-b06-434-11M3909) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.12-b01-434, mixed mode) But I've also got Java 7 installed (though I was never able to actually run a Java program with it, afaik). Another issue that may be related: some of my test cases contain titles including parentheses like ( and ). SBT or ScalaTest (not sure) will consequently insert square parens in the middle of the output. For example, a test case with the name (..)..(..) might suddenly look like (..[)..](..).
