  • How to set up offline manifest for a web app to run in Safari in iOS?

    I'm currently trying to set up an offline.manifest file for my web app to be used offline on an iOS device. For testing purposes I have a very simple HTML page that I'm trying to add to a home screen. I'm testing it on a live iPhone 4, but after the page is added to the home screen and I put the iPhone in the airplane mode and try to start my web app I get this error: "Turn Off Airplane Mode or Use Wi-Fi to Access Data" and then if I click OK I get: "Cannot Open Web App Name" "Web App Name could not be opened because it is not connected to the Internet" The following is added to the HTML file: <!DOCTYPE html> <html lang="en" manifest="scrts/offline.manifest"> and the offline.manifest is composed as such: CACHE MANIFEST ../pics/bkgnd_iphn_settings.png ../pics/mbl_btn_fb.png ../pics/mbl_btn_twt.png ../pics/icon_57_57_bg.png ../pics/icon_72_72_bg.png ../pics/icon_114_114_bg.png ../pics/icon_144_144_bg.png ../pics/splash_320_460_bg.png ../pics/splash_768_1004_bg.png ../pics/splash_1004_768_bg.png I got all instructions on composing it from here I also adjusted the .htaccess file to add this line: AddType text/cache-manifest .manifest Any idea what am I not doing right?

    I've interviewed a number of candidates for salaried positions. I was recently informed that we are hiring a consultant for a few months to help us develop a native iPhone application. We are a .NET shop and none of us have any experience with iPhone development. I've also heard rumors that we are planning to hire more consultants in the future to help develop on other various platforms. How should I interview these consultants, considering that I have no experience with this type of development? Without regards to platform specific questions, what are the things I need to keep in mind when interviewing consultants? Normally when I interview candidates, I'll ask questions that I know the answer to. I would never ask a candidate something that I don't know how to answer. Since this is a different situation, what do I need to ask in order to make sure they are subject matter experts in their respective fields? Is it appropriate to ask specific questions that we'll need to eventually solve during the interview?

  • access to site owner not working

    I made a website it works for everyone except for the site owner, who cannot access the site. He gets a server could not be found error. I went to his house and the issue occurs for all of his devices (PC, laptop, iPhone using WiFi) when I turn WiFi off the iPhone it works. So I thought it was a problem on his router so I reset is router to default factory settings but it still does not work, I have flushed his DNS cache and his browser cache. But nothing seems to help. He cannot even PING the server using the domain name. However when he uses the IP address he can see the site fine. I looked in cpanel for an blocked IP addresses but cannot see anything. What could be stopping just him from accessing the site via domainname and not the IP address? Site details are: PHP, osCommerce it is hosted by site5 on my reseller account.

I have come to realize that when I install a game in my iPhone, this same game is installed in my iPad. And then it struck me: how would I manage save files?   • How is Sencha Touch performing on Android in practice?

    I'm just about to start a project using Sencha Touch, and just done some minor testing on my HTC desire device. All tutorial videos at Vimeo seems to be using an iPhone emulator running on a Mac. Im not sure how fast this emulator is compared to a real iPhone device or even an real Android device, but from what i have experienced, it seems that my HTC desire is not performing that nicly as this emulator. All animations (sliding, fading, etc) seems abit laggy. You can easily notice that the FPS is much less than on the Vimeo videos. HTC desire is a relativly new and modern Android 2.2 phone, running with decent hardware, so im wondering if Sencha Touch is "ready" for the Android platform. Anybody with practical experience with Android and Sencha Touch ?

    Slowly but surely apps have been coming out for Windows Phone 7, I must admit that was my biggest concern on moving from the iPhone to the Windows Phone.  Not the fact apps would come slowly, but when they would come.  The iPhone side of things had very nice apps, and moving into a not so populated app landscape was an interesting thought. Anyway, yes there are apps I miss … but now it is one less! WordPress released the “for Windows Phone 7” app. Great experience and layout for the tool.   • How did the Lunar Lander example make the image backgrounds transparent?

    Hello. I'm trying to make a GUI program with the Android SDK, using their Lunar Lander example as a significant self-teaching tool in the process. I've noticed their sprites' images' backgrounds, which were at least usually pure white, did not show up in their program. I want to ask how they did that, since their site doesn't explain simple things very well. I've managed to pull that off before on another GUI SDK, wherein all I had to do was to call a function and pass it a few floats to define a certain color, and until my code told it to do otherwise, that function would make sure that that particular color in my sprites' images was totally transparent. However I've wrestled with the Lunar Lander example and getting my own program to show some custom graphics for a week or two now, and I haven't noticed any such function call in the Lunar Lander example. I tried to look for it, but I did not find anything. I've tried to Google some tutorial or other reference material, but what I've found so far is just straying off into unrelated areas and totally dodging this EXTREMELY important lesson on the SDK's basics. Any ideas? Thanks!

    I am writing a webservice, that when called should build a C# project. I'm using the framework 2 reference, Microsoft.Buld.Engine and Microsoft.Build.Framework. If you look under the '<Import>' section .csproj file, by default it has: <Import Project="$(MSBuildToolsPath)\Microsoft.CSharp.targets" /> which I then changed to: <Import Project="$(MSBuildBinPath)\Microsoft.CSharp.targets" /> My code to build the csproj is: Engine buildEngine = new Engine(Path.Combine(Environment.GetEnvironmentVariable("SystemRoot"), @"Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727")); FileLogger logger = new FileLogger(); logger.Parameters = @"logfile=c:\temp\build.log"; buildEngine.RegisterLogger(logger); bool success = buildEngine.BuildProjectFile([Path_Of_Directory]+ "ProjectName.csproj"); buildEngine.UnregisterAllLoggers(); The success variable returns a false because the build faild. I then check the build.log file and this is the error I recieve: *Build started 3/17/2010 11:16:56 AM. ______________________________ Project "[Path_Of_Directory]\ProjectName.csproj" (default targets): Target GetFrameworkPaths: Could not locate the .NET Framework SDK. The task is looking for the path to the .NET Framework SDK at the location specified in the SDKInstallRootv2.0 value of the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft.NETFramework. You may be able to solve the problem by doing one of the following: 1.) Install the .NET Framework SDK. 2.) Manually set the above registry key to the correct location. Target* I cant understand why it wont build. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks
