• Lose changed data in session

  Our asp.net 2.0 application has a very long process (synchronized) before sending response back to client. I observed that a second request, exactly same the initial one, was sent after client IE8 waited response for a long period of time while our application was still processing the first request. I use page session with predefined key to store a flag when the initial request arrives and then starts long process while client IE waits for the response, so if second request comes in, our application checks the session value. After our application sets the session flag and starts processing, I use Fiddler “Abort Session” to abort the initial request, right away the second request (same as the first one) is sent automatically, but session value set earlier seems no longer exist. Any thoughts?

• iPhone - Memory Management - Using Leaks tool and getting some bizarre readings.

  Hey all, putting the finishing touches on a project of mine so I figured I would run through it and see if and where I had any memory leaks. Found and fixed most of them but there are a couple of things regarding the memory leaks and object alloc that I am confused about. 1) There are 2 memory leaks that do not show me as responsible. There are 8 leaks attributed to AudioToolbox with the function being RegisterEmbeddedAudioCodecs(). This accounts for about 1.5 kb of leaks. The other one is detected immediately when the app begins. Core Graphics is responsible with the extra info being open_handle_to_dylib_path. For the audio leak I have looked over my audio code and to me it seems ok. self.musicPlayer = [[AVAudioPlayer alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL fileURLWithPath:songFilePath] error:NULL]; [musicPlayer prepareToPlay]; [musicPlayer play] is called later on in a function. 2) Is it normal for there to be a spike in Object Allocation whenever a new view or controller is presented? My total memory usage is very, very low except for whenever I present a view controller. It spikes then immediately goes back down. I am guessing that this is just the phone handling all the information for switching or something. Blegh. Wall of text. Thanks in advance to anyone who helps! =)

• How to limit a google calendar xml / rss feed by date range (not working!!)

  For the life of me I cannot get my google calendar xml feed to only display events within a certain date range. I know that start-min and start-max are supposed to limit the output (according to these posts: (links to posts deleted because I am a newbie and can only post one hyperlink argh) BUT I CAN'T GET IT TO WORK. It keeps showing lot of things outside the range. I created a sample calendar and made it public. It is some events the first week of april. Can anyone show me how to construct a request that only returns those three events from the first week in april? I'll GLADLY and GRATEFULLY paypal $10 to anyone who helps me break through on this.   I want to keep assets that are only used by one view in a view-specific folder, so my Search.aspx properly finds images/*.jpg, and helps me maintain my convention: ~/Areas/Candidate/Views/Job/Search.aspx -> ~/Assets/Candidate/Job/Search/images/*.jpg Perhaps with the ability to easily reference controller- or area-common assets manually or automatically: ~/Assets/Candidate/Job/images/*.jpg ~/Assets/Candidate/images/*.jpg If you wonder why I'm doing this, then speak up; I'm probably missing something. But here's why: I don't want stale static assets sitting in my ASP.NET MVC projects, which I expect to be an automatic outcome of the ~/Assets/Images folder: i.e. As a shared asset loses its last reference-count, who knows to delete it, especially with it being so difficult to trace content link validity in MVC projects? How do you, personally, do this? I can imagine, for example: Implement HtmlHelper extension methods for URL-generation. Extending ViewPage and ViewMasterPage with URL-generation methods. Implementing an inbound request filter to search related folders for static assets. and, are there good libraries out there for this? For example, something that also automatically appends timestamps for .JS and .CSS files, writes the / tags for me, and maybe even that allows me to inject includes in the head section from outside head code?

• How to read values from Gridview columns controls in WPF

  hi frnds, I am using a WPF application, in which i placed a listview control which has 3 gridview columns. First Gridview column has a label Control and the remaining 2 gridview columns has textbox control. Now my problem is if the user enters a value in the first Gridview textbox column, the second gridview textbox column should be updated with some value. Is there any way to do that. I am filling the list view with a datatable from code behind file. And also is there any way to get the value of the label control in the 1st gridview column. Thanks in advance urs Frnd :)

Now what I want to achieve is the following. 1) A Porlet containing a form is called within a page via <?php $this->widget('form'); ?> 2) The user fills in this form and clicks on submit "The submit button should be an ajax button" 3) When submit has been pressed the form should call a method within the form portlet class and the form should be replaced with a Thank you message. 4) I only want the current view in the portlet replaced with another view. • NSSortDescriptor for NSFetchRequest sorting unexpectedly

  My entity has a property (sortOrder) that is of the type Decimal(NSDecimalNumber) but when I execute a fetch request using that property as a key, I get back results in a seemingly random order. If I output the value of the property I get really strange values until I get it's intValue. Example: The first run produces this result. The first value is the raw value of the property. • jquery slideUp() and slideDown() problems

  Hello, I am very crap at jquery, and im having some trouble with the slideUp() and slideDown() animations. I have been working on a vCard design similar to tim van damme's site. here is a the link to the design: link. When you click on the portfolio or work button, the text or image appears first before the div finishes sliding down. I would like the div to slide down first and then show the text... This currently works when you click on the contact button or the home button on the top navigation bar, but does not work for the portfolio button and the work button. I have a hunch that this may not even be a jquery problem, and that its just my bad css code, but I have skimmed through the css code, and changed things like z-index, but that hasnt worked.

  I have an app fetch data from internet, for better performance and bandwidth, I need to implement a cache layer. There are two different data coming from the internet, one is changing every one hour and another one does not change basically. So for the first type of data, I need to implement an expire policy to make it self deleted after it was created for 1 hour, and when user request that data, I will check the storage first and then goto internet if nothing found. I thought about using a SharedPrefrence or SQLDatabase to store the json data or serialized object string. My question is: 1) What should I use, SharedPrefrence or SQLDatabase or anything else, a piece of data is not big but there are maybe many instances of that data. 2) How to implement that expire system.

• Compare GetNextInsertionPosition and GetNextContextPosition in WPF

  As I enter a character in my RichTextBox, I want to get the next character from the its TextRange. So here is how I do it: TextPointer ptr1= RichTextBox.CaretPosition; char nextChar = GetNextChar(); while (char.IsWhiteSpace(nextChar)) { ptr1= ptr1.GetNextInsertionPosition(LogicalDirection.Forward); nextChar = GetCharacterAt(Ptr1); } then I get the ptr1 of the next character and from the TextPointer, I get the TextRange, and do my changes. So here is the problem? when the next word is spelled correctly, I have no problem, but if it's not spelled properly then ptr1 would not point to the first character of the next word (the second character), and if I use GetNextContextPosition(LogicalDirection.Forward) it would give me the first letter of the next word if it's misspelled. So depending on the spelling only one of them works? I was just wondering if you have any idea about this problem? Is there anything wrong I am doing here?

• CF - How to get mouse position when ContextMenu pops up ??

  I have a problem i cannot solve. In my view (that shows a map) i created a contextMenu. When context menu is invoked i need to get the position where the user has clicked on the map. Here is my problem: In the view i already have onMouseDown event that gets me the coordinates where the user clicked. private void MapView_MouseDown(object sender, MouseEventArgs e) { this.lastMouseDownX = e.X; this.lastMouseDownY = e.Y; } When the contextMenu is invoked i need the same data, but the problem is that contextMenu only has EventArgs that dont keep the data i need. Furthermore ... contextMenu is invoked when user presses and holds mouse for a second and when its invoked the code does not enter onMouseDown event ! It just goes into popup event on my context menu.... I tried putting this in my popup event, but the coordinates are not ok. I have executed the batch in SSMS with “Include Actual execution plan “ and having Profiler running. The plan shows that the first query cost is 88% relative to the batch and the second is 12%, but the profiler says that durations of the first and second query are 17ms and 210 ms respectively, the overall time is 229, which is not 12 and 88.. What is going on? Is there a way how I can determine in the execution plan which is the slowest part of the query?

  I have a collection of Post objects and I want to be able to sort them based on these conditions: First, by category (news, events, labs, portfolio, etc.) Then by date, if date, or by position, if a specific index was set for it Some posts will have dates (news and events), others will have explicit positions (labs, and portfolio). I want to be able to call posts.sort!, so I've overridden <=>, but am looking for the most effective way of sorting by these conditions. Below is a pseudo method: def <=>(other) # first, everything is sorted into # smaller chunks by category self.category <=> other.category # then, per category, by date or position if self.date and other.date self.date <=> other.date else self.position <=> other.position end end It seems like I'd have to actually sort two separate times, rather than cramming everything into that one method. Something like sort_by_category, then sort!. What is the most ruby way to do this?

• Copying (or recovering) a .PFX password to another machine?

  First things first, I'm aware of all of the finger-wagging potential that this question provides. However, I'm attempting to help out a friend with a project so I haven't been part of the decision making process thus far. I'm attempting to set up a new development machine, but one of the projects is signed with a .PFX key that's password protected and the original developer does not remember the password. The current development machine can open and build the project just fine, so I'm wondering if there is any way either to copy or to recover the saved password that Visual Studio is using on the original box so that the file can be used on the new box. Signing with a new file is obviously an option, but one that we'd prefer to avoid. Does anyone know of a way either to recover or copy the credentials for this file to a new machine?

• ORDER BY giving wrong order

  I have an SQL statement in my C# program that looks like: SELECT * FROM XXX.dbo.XXX WHERE Source = 'OH' AND partnum = '1231202085' ORDER BY partnum, Packaging, Quantity When running this query in SQL Server Management, the results are ordered as expected. My first 3 results have the same partnum and Packaging with Quantities of 32.0, 50.8, and 51.0. However, when I run the query from my program, the result set with quantity 50.8 is the first to be returned. The datatype of Quantity is decimal(18,9). I've tried cast, it doesn't appear to be a datatype problem. I cant figure out why its getting the middle quantity.

• Internet Explorer generates extra br

  I have an issue where Internet Explorer is generating an additional br element that is not in my source. The additional br effects the page's layout and is visible when using the developer tool. I've tried removing all hard returns between the surrounding elements but the additional br persists. Firefox and Chrome do not have this issue. Ideas on what I can do to fix the issue? • Not able to delete list which dynamically created with jquery.

  I have two html here. The first one is dynamically generated by php and second one is just html to test. I also have the following jquery. When I click a cross with class delete in the second ones(plain html), it works nicely. However when I click a cross in the first ones, it does not work. It redirect me to the home page with # at the end. I am hoping someone point out what I am doing wrong. Thank in advance. • Create mp3 previews from wav and aiff files

  I would like to create a program that makes mp3s of the first 30 seconds of an aiff or wav file. I would also like to be able to choose location and length, such as the audio between 2:12 and 2:42. Are there any tools that lets me do this? Shelling out is OK. The application will run on a linux server, so it would have to be a tool that works on linux. I don't mind doing it in two steps - i.e. a tool that first creates the cutout of the aiff/wav, then pass it to a mp3 encoder.

• Dual slider control with custom skin

  Hi All, I'm currently trying to create a page for users to select two points from a range, using a slide control. The first point in the range is when an alert will be sent to the user, the second point is a max limit. What I would like to do is have the bar colored green from the 0 point to the first slider point, then orange between the two sliders, and lastly red from the second slider up to the other end of the bar. Does anyone know of an easy was I can do this or of a slider control that can be skinned to do this?
