• Calling a GWT service in a different context than the GWT Module Base?

  I have a GWT module with the X-GWT-Module-Base http://host:8080/foo/ and would like to call a (GWT) service which is located at http://host:8080/bar/. The reason is for example that I want to be able to share a GWT service between two different GWT client projects. All I've gotten to work so far is if the service is located within the module context, i.e. http://host:8080/foo/bar works fine, using @RemoteServiceRelativePath("bar") in my service interface. It seems that the @RemoteServiceRelativePath only allows a value relative to the module base URL...so is there some other way to accomplish what I'm trying to accomplish?

  Launching the android SDK manager from the command line gets me this error and others like: Failed to fetch URL http://dl-ssl.google.com/android/repository/addons_list-1.xml, reason: Failure initializing default SSL context I've done plenty of searches and have forced http instead of https, created an androidtool.cfg file and added the line sdkman.force.http=true permisions for all files in ~/.android are rw r r. I'm calling android logged in as the owner of those files. I am not using a proxy and I have no anti virus running. I just installed fedora 16 and am not sure of any firewalls running by default. I suspect a permissions problem somewhere along the line. any ideas?

  I've got a ListActivity and ListView and I've bound some data to it. The data shows up fine, and I've also registered a context menu for the view.   Hi, I'm using Apache common fileupload library with Netbeans 6.8 + Glassfish.I'm trying to change the current upload path to be in the current context path of the servlet , something like this: WEB-INF/upload so I wrote : File uploadedFile = new File("WEB-INF/upload/"+fileName); session.setAttribute("path",uploadedFile.getAbsolutePath()); item.write(uploadedFile); but I notice that the library save the uploaded files into glassfish folder , here what I get when I print the absolute path of the uploaded file : C:\Program Files\sges-v3\glassfish\domains\domain1\WEB-INF\upload\xx.rar My Question : How can I force the common fileupload to save the uploaded file in a path relative to the current servlet path , so I don't need to specify the whole path ? is this possible ?

  This is very strange guys. I wrote a simple application. When I make my commands executed fast by moving mouse (event is on mouse move), I experience the following errors if I run my application without debugger (if I do, application just hangs and nothing happens): 1- "No context-sensitive help installed" however i haven't used help in my app. 2- Access violation errors from "uxtheme.dll" and "user32.dll" libraries! well, i think these errors happen when Windows Messages are sent quickly one after another. I came across these errors a while ago in a huge application. In both application I used SendMessage command, but what am i doing wrong? I'm now using Delphi 2010 Has anyone ever experienced this?!

• Show extra info for Preference screens when CheckboxPreference summary field is not enough long?

  I have situation when you can enabled/disable modules for my Android application. For this I use a CheckboxPreference screen. This is all good, but the summary field gets cut off if longer descriptions are added than 2 lines. Suppose I have 4-5 lines of description available for each module, I would like to display this in a helper window. I tried to bind a click event to the CheckboxPreference, but that fires for the whole line, so not only when the checkbox is clicked, and more, where ever you click on the line the checkbox is toggled. So now I am wondering if this can be fixed. So if the user needs more info, just taps the text and the helper opens up, and if want to toggle the settings it taps the checkbox. How would you do it? I am open to other ideas too, if they do work.

• Issues rendering image in flash via Context.Response.Write C# asp.

  I am having an issue rendering images in flash via a character array. I am sending it from a webhandler via Context.Response.Write as a Base64CharacterArray. It functions 100% properly in a windows environment, however when using a Mac the image data is not retrieved correctly causing the image to appear incorrectly. It does not affect the data,however as it is rendered properly in a player which accesses the data via a webservice. I am at the end of my rope on this one. Anything will help. • How do you manage web navigation info in your application?

  I’m building an application where different users will have different menu items available to them depending on what they’ve paid for. There will also be multiple levels to the menu hierarchy. What’s the best approach to this problem? I’m assuming I need a database table that represents the menu hierarchy, including the parent-child relationships of the nodes in the navigation as well as the sorting of the items. Then another table which I use to manage whether a user is authorized to access a particular item in that table. When I render the view, I’d reference the menus, and the access rights of the user to output the menu, and I’d also need a function to check that same authorization from each controller in case a user manually types in a URL of a controller they’re not supposed to have access to. Is this the right approach? Any suggestions for caching this to prevent the constant look-ups of this type of info? I’m open to any suggestions on how you may have approached this type of requirement.

  Recalling this post enumerating several problems of using singletons and having seen several examples of Android applications using singleton pattern, I wonder if it's a good idea to use Singletons instead of single instances shared through global application state (subclassing android.os.Application and obtaining it through context.getApplication()). What advantages/drawbacks would have both mechanisms? To be honest, I expect the same answer in this post http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2709071/singleton-pattern-with-web-application-not-a-good-idea but applied to Android. Am I correct? • Is it possible to autocomplete fields in Sharepoint with user info?

  Hi, I'm in charge of a Sharepoint collection, and a user asks this. Is it possible that when a user creates an item, some fields are automatically filled with some info, such as email address and location? Authentication uses Active Directory, so every user is identified when using Sharepoint. The only issue is that, being in a big corporate company, I don't have any access to the server, so it must be feasible through configuration of said site/list or using Sharepoint Designer, but I can't and won't be allowed to deploy anything server side. Any idea?

  I have a structure in matlab that has a value of <1x1 struct>., its name is figurelist. Inside that structure, there is a field called images. Inside images, I have 25 images that have the name img1, img2, img3, ...... , img25. Now I made a for loop to extract those images, I basically did: For K=1:25 image(figurelist.images.imgK) PAUSE(0.25) End This unfortunately doesnt work. I get an error saying : ??? Reference to non-existent field 'imgK'. Is it possible to extract such info using a loop from a structure? Or am I doing something wrong? Thanks.

  hi, some bad legancy web application projects still have classic asp files. these project consist of 95% of classic .asp files and the rest only of asp.net (.aspx). if you right click on an .aspx file in the solution explorer of VS you can choose "view in browser" and "browse with...". however if i right click on an classic .asp file there, there is no such option! do you have any tip/hint/addin for me so that it will show these two context menu entries also for .asp files? i run all my projects in IIS not the build in casini web development server VS comes with! thanks, toebens

I'm not sure why it's not working. In the NativeExtensionContext which extends FREContext I am passing the activity using getActivity() to NativeActivity. Everything works well but I get a "Nullpointerexception" or “android.view.WindowManager$BadTokenException: Unable to add window — token null is not for an application” when I try I try to get a reference to the Context. Anyone with experience using Adobe AIR Native Extensions and/or Android Java would be great.

Even a line number would be more helpful, since this is run in automated manner and I'd like to be able to spot the failing assert without debugging into the code.

• Can Settings bundle use values from application's Info.plist file?

  Hi, is it possible to use values from application's Info.plist file as DefaultValue value for items in Settings.bundle? For example CFBundleVersion. I've tried entering it as ${CFBundleVersion} but it didn't work. I've also tried changing DefaultValue type but with no success. Any ideas? The reasons behind are simple: CFBundleVersion is known at compile time, so I won't have to take its value from application's mainBundle and then apply that value to NSUserDefaults. Other reason is that just after installing the app, but before running it, Settings bundle values are not in-sync as the code setting NSUserDefaults did not have a chance to execute itself... so it would be boring to always remember that I have to change my Settings bundle values manually.

• Use Python to search one .txt file for a list of words or phrases (and show the context)

  Basically as the question states. I am fairly new to Python and like to learn by seeing and doing. I would like to create a script that searches through a text document (say the text copied and pasted from a news article for example) for certain words or phrases. Ideally, the list of words and phrases would be stored in a separate file. When getting the results, it would be great to get the context of the results. So maybe it could print out the 50 characters in the text file before and after each search term that has been found. It'd be cool if it also showed what line the search term was found on. Any pointers on how to code this, or even code examples would be much appreciated.
