    After converting file using **unix2dos** command it is having some empty lines. Please help me. How to handle this? I tried to delete empty lines as follow, but couldn't work. $ sed '/^$/d' /tmp/data.txt Hey following examples also didn't work. Pl help This is source data before using unix2dos.     Recently I changed a friend's OS from a really virus filled windows 7 to Ubuntu ..but kept changing os's because lsusb wouldn't detect the camera.But after coming back to windows, the camera wasn't detected, though I must point out the device driver for the camera was never found. The Sony 'technician' told me that that since the dev-manager of windows 7 couldn't detect the camera , irregardless of whether the device driver was installed, the software change must have damaged the hardware. I was wondering if there is any truth to it.

    Forgive me if the answer is something glaringly obvious but I just can't seem to get access to any OIDs under the HOST branch in SNMP. I've used an SNMP browser to inspect a few of my systems and none of them show a HOST branch under ISO.ORG.DOD.INTERNET.MGMT.MIB-2. Any thoughts as to why? I'm looking to monitor a few computer's hardware resources via SNMP and unfortuantely all such OIDs live under the missing HOST branch, Any thoughts?

  • Remove USB device from command line

    I'm constructing a backup script for Windows 7, and the last action I want it to perform is to safely "remove" the USB drive that it is backing up to. I am under the impression that plugging the drive into the SAME USB port all the time will keep the same DEV_ID, correct me if I'm wrong. With a Command Line (or PowerShell), how can I tell Windows to safely remove the hardware automatically without user input? Just as a place holder, other OSes that may have a way to do this would be great to know as well

  • PCIe network card deactivate DVI output (but NOT VGA output) on Shuttle SG41J1+

    It's all in the title :) Inserting a network card (or any other PCIe card, RAID controller, SAS, etc ) in the PCIe 16x slot of the Shuttle SG41J1 deactivate the DVI output. The VGA output still works fine. Shuttle support says that it's a chipset limitation (G41 + ICH7), but that doesn't make sense to me : the VGA and DVI share the same hardware but the D/A converter stage. Does anyone think that there may be some solution to this conundrum? Can a future BIOS update solve the problem?

  • Runs perfect but I can't reinstall my OS.

    hey, I have a computer that seems to have faulty hardware. I can run operating systems off of the computer and it runs perfectly, however, whenever i boot from CD to try and install a different operating system the thing tells me that the system never responds. Linux hangs after 30 seconds, windows just freaks out. I think it's a problem with how it's connecting to the hard drive. Is it possible it's just the IDE cable or do you think it's something else?

What limitations exist in regards to the maximum number of drives that can be connected to typical commodity hardware that might be used in a situation like this?     So I have a list that I want to convert to a list that contains a list for each group of objects. ie ['objA.attr1', 'objC', 'objA.attr55', 'objB.attr4'] would return [['objA.attr1', 'objA.attr55'], ['objC'], ['objB.attr4']] currently this is what I use: givenList = ['a.attr1', 'b', 'a.attr55', 'c.attr4'] trgList = [] objNames = [] for val in givenList: obj = val.split('.')[0] if obj in objNames: id = objNames.index(obj) trgList[id].append(val) else: objNames.append(obj) trgList.append([val]) #print trgList It seems to run a decent speed when the original list has around 100,000 ids... but I am curious if there is a better way to do this. Order of the objects or attributes does not matter. Any ideas?

Now I realize this software is more typically used on blades and the other servers but can it be done on a normal PC? Should it be? What requirements are there (eg hardware/BIOS/chipset)? Is there a performance impact for doing so? Is it a good/bad idea?

  • Are there HP Infinihost III ex drivers for windows available?

    I picked up some infiniband cards off ebay for development/testing purposes. I was hoping that there would be some drivers available under windows 7, but it doesn't seem to be recognised by the OFED software which would seem to contain windows drivers. They are however immediately picked up by Ubuntu and drivers are loaded. Are these cards supported under windows 7 at all? mstflint under linux reports: Image type: Failsafe FW Version: 4.8.930 I.S.     In my Asterisk log file, I have a line like this (truncated): Executing [123@mycontext:1] Set("SIP/myhost-b7111840", "__INCOMINGCLI=4711") Now I want to do the following filtering while looking at the log file with tail -f: Match lines with a specific value for "INCOMINGCLI", storing the call ID (the "SIP/myhost-b7111840" part) Output all subsequent lines that contain the call ID. As a bonus, having a grep-like option like -A would be nice. I could do that easily in various programming languages, but how would I do it with standard UNIX commands like sed or awk? Can it be done with these commands?

  • After returning from standby mode, win7 asks for login twice

    When a Windows 7 32-bit PC attached to a domain comes back from standby mode and has no user logged in, if I log in once, it jumps back to the login screen. If I log in for a second time, then it actually logs in. This happens on multiple PCs, and is not a hardware issue. The PCs are also free of viruses/malware, and are otherwise problem-free. Why does it do this, and is there a way to prevent this annoyance?

    I'm thinking of buying the HP ProLiant MicroServer*. My question is if I just put a single 2TB drive, how easy would it be in the future to upgrade to a second 2TB drive in a RAID-1 setup? Can this be done without formatting the original 2TB drive? *It looks like the £100 cashback offer is stopping end of Aug, making this system cost around £260 without HDDs. Are there any other brands that anyone would recommend for all-in-one hardware solutions.

    I am using your excellent ts_blocker, release 20120530, on my server 2008 R2 Enterprise. it works very fine, i use the vbs script, launched with wscript. The only problem is that is does not work for users attempting to connect RDP from a mac intosh. With this machine the distant IP seems to be not recognized when the login fails. The IP is visible when the login is good (event ID 4624) but not when it fails (Audit failure event ID 4625) : then the IP is not to be seen in the event log ! In the "network information" of the event log entry is nothing given. Have you already been told of that and is there something to do ?

    how can I access a GRAPHICAL login screen (like on earlier Windows versions, or like VNC) instead of the Username/Password prompt via RDP? I'm asking because we have several servers where we have no passwords but the shutdown/reboot option is given via group policy on the login screen. Thus, instead of having to go the hardware console I'd like to be able to perform reboot/shutdown actions via terminal services. Regards, Marki
