• Google index iframes on Facebook fan pages? (Hole website content)

  I have a fairly simple question that I've tried to get help from the guys on the Google Webmaster Help Q&A site but so far no joy so hopefully someone here can provide me with the information I'm looking for. I have a Facebook fanpage for my website, I have made an app that basically uses an iframe and puts the site within a frame within Facebook. All works good but Google is not indexing this page. I am using <link rel="canonical" href="#" /> on my pages so prehaps this is an issue?

How to handle different screen resolutions and pixel densities, optimizations required, etc. Any other suggestions and important things you think I should know? • Empathy sametime client id

  I have been using Pidgin as an all-in-one IM client, but now as Empathy is the default app in Ubuntu I wanted to try it out. I have a sametime account at an external company that is keen to restrict access to their service from certain sametime client versions only. I was able to trick it with pidgin by specifying the following settings in accounts.xml: <setting name='client_minor' type='int'>8510</setting> <setting name='client_major' type='int'>30</setting> <setting name='client_id_val' type='int'>4876</setting> I tried to do the same in Empathy but I failed. As far as I know, Pidgin and Empathy use the same connector Plugin for sametime, so basically the functions should be there somewhere but there is little information about the configuration files and that doesn't discuss any sametime specific options.

  Up until a couple of years ago, I used to turn to RescueTime to figure out how I spend my time online. Then it got too complex, and I stopped using it. Personal Activity Monitor is like a vastly dumbed-down version of RescueTime, and I mean that as a compliment. It's free and bare-bones -- all it does is track what applications you're using and for how long. A big drawback at this point is that it doesn't integrate with Web browsers to help you analyze how you spend your time on the Web. Still, if your work doesn't require constant Web app use, knowing how long you've used a browser overall might be enough to help you manage your time.   Bigger companies usually have the problem, that it is not possible to write all programs employees want (to save time and to optimize processes) due to a lack of staff and money. Then hidden programs will be created by some people having (at least some) coding experience (or by cheap students/interns...). Under some circumstances these applications will raise in importance and spread from one user to a whole department. Then there is the critical point: Who will maintain the application, add new features, ...? And this app is critical. It IS needed. But the intern has left the company. No one knows how it works. You only have a bunch of sources and some sort of documentation. How do you cope with these applications? Can you "forbid" them? Can you control them? Do you have to write all apps (not Excel macros or some minor stuff) in the IT department?

  Hello, I am developing on to a Groupon clone app called Couponic on behalf of a client. Can anyone help in pinpointing how Couponic generates user passwords? I want to be able to generate new passwords in the same method Couponic uses in a separate PHP script if possible, so that users of an existing site will also be able to log in to the Couponic site without re-creating an account. Couponic is built using the YII PHP framework, I can't find anything in the YII documentation. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  I'm developing an application which will list members who have not paid their any previous month's fee and a separate list for those who have paid the fee. So, lets say a member who will be paying fee through out the year, each month and if he didn't pay fee for march 2013 then app should highlight him as un-paid member. What would be best practice to achieve it. Adding fee invoices for whole year already in database when member is added then loop through his payments to check if fee is paid or not, or add a validation date for member on his each payment, for example payment made in Feb 2013 then member is valid till 28.02.2013. Check if date today is 28.02.2013 then he has not paid..

  I spent the afternoon with the Geolocator object in the WinRT and Widows 8 platform. I have also been working with doing Windows Phone 7 development, and first had to wrap my head around the fact that while similar, it is not the same as the GeoCoordinateWatcher that environment. I found a nice example here http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/windowsapps/Geolocation-2483de66 But the behavior of my app wasn’t the same. Once you ensure that location services is enabled by following these instructions: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/hh768219.aspx Location Services was still disabled. From everything I read, it sounded like the first time you try to use the Geolocator object, the user would be prompted to allow to “Access to your location”. After nosing around I found the issue. You need to add the location service as a Capability in the Package.appxmanifest file: After checking the box, I was prompted to allow access to location services as expected the first time I needed to use it.

• session persisting problem after system restart

  Is there a way to prevent session id restore on startup/restart of user's system? We are using a asp.net app and I am able to login and access the site. For the first time session id is created and stored in cookies. Problem: But if I restart my system without signing out, the session is still alive. How can I prevent this? from server side. I can try to delete cookies but it is not practical, as each user will have different preferences.

  Someday, my leader told me that don't reinvent the wheels, use framework built-in classes. (with a serious mood) when I implement some algorithm has been supported by .NET fx. And seriously, I didn't know about these support before, cause this is the first time I work with .NET). So I have this questions. For example, for building an Web-App we have some ways: C# with ASP.NET framework Java with JavaEE (and friends like Struts, Spring v.v.) framework. PHP with Zend framework. ... It just takes about 1 months to learn language (C#, Java, PHP...), BUT learning to use a framework effectively takes you at least SOME YEARS working (to know every bit of code has been built-in). So, how do you learn to use effectively 2 (or more) frameworks? Any ideas are welcome!

• Which libraries I need for projects in Mono Develop to work Properly?

  I want to test each and every project type available on mono. But due to some package dependencies Im unable to run any of "Hello World" project. I have less idea what libraries I need for what. Few days back I have installed gtk-sharp2 but still while running an VB.net Gtk# or C# Gtk# Im getting compilation errors that cli.Gtk does not exist. Is there a way through which I can solve all dependencies by one click ?! I atleast once want to try learning linux app programming. Without the proper tools it is not possible. • How to redesign the UI of a large project?

  I'm currently working at a quite big Android project (a social network, you can see it here if is useful to answer the question). We decided to restyle the whole app, changing all the UI design. The code I actually have is complex, there are many controllers, and it's a little messy too. Is it "better" in terms of time and code cleanliness to take one controller per time, and rewrite it entirely, or to modify one controller per time? The layout change entirely anyway, so for that I know I've to restart from scratch. Maybe it could seem a stupid question, but with the "time" variable I really can't see the best way.

• What is the most cross-browser/system compatible option for 3d graphics on a web page?

  I would like to develop a bit of functionality for a web site that involves a bit of 3D - the user can move around objects, rotate them and texture them. So far I've looked into: WebGL (in particular three.js) and it looks great, but it's not supported in IE nor IOS. IOS supports the <canvas> tag, but only 2d. It looks like three.js has an unsupported hack to make a 3d thing use the 2d canvas instead without textures, but this looks like a hack. I also considered resorting to Flash which works on most browsers, but that won't work on IOS. What's my best option for doing 3d web graphics on the vast array of browsers and interfaces? At the moment I'm thinking WebGL for web (and ask people to use chrome or firefox, and take the hit on IE) and then maybe write a native app for IOS, but I am not sure if there are better alternatives available that I don't know of.

• Do ALL your variables need to be declared private?

  I know that it's best practice to stay safe, and that we should always prevent others from directly accessing a class' properties. I hear this all the time from university professors, and I also see this all the time in a lot of source code released on the App Hub. In fact, professors say that they will actually take marks off for every variable that gets declared public. Now, this leaves me always declaring variables as private. No matter what. Even if each of these variables were to have both a getter and a setter. But here's the problem: it's tedious work. I tend to quickly loose interest in a project every time I need to have a variable in a class that could have simply been declared public instead of private with a getter and a setter. So my question is, do I really need to declare all my variables private? Or could I declare some variables public whenever they require both a getter and a setter?

  i am working on a project that has two interface (web and desktop), they are not performing the same tasks but they use the same BLL and DAL, the web part using 100% of the BLL and DAL, while the desktop only needs to know about 20% of the BLL and DAL. do you think it is a good idea to let the desktop use the same BLL and DAL as the web, which consequently will lead to ditributing thos BLL and DAL with the desktop application? or you think i'd better create new BLL and DAL projects just to serve the desktop app? but in this case i will fall in the trap of maintaining two copies of the same code!

• Creating a WARP device in managed DirectX

  I have a very old graphic card that only supports shader model 2, but I need shader model 3 or up for the app I am developing. I tried to use a reference device but it seems to run very slowly, then I found some samples in C++ that allows me to change to a WARP device and the performance is good. I am using C# and I don't know how to create such type of device. So the question is: how do I create a WARP device in C#? Thanks in advance.
