• Conditional Regex Replace in C# without MatchEvaluator

  So, Im trying to make a program to rename some files. For the most part, I want them to look like this, [Testing]StupidName - 2[720p].mkv But, I would like to be able to change the format, if so desired. If I use MatchEvaluators, you would have to recompile every time. Thats why I don't want to use the MatchEvaluator. The problem I have is that I don't know how, or if its possible, to tell Replace that if a group was found, include this string. The only syntax for this I have ever seen was something like (?<group>:data), but I can't get this to work. Well if anyone has an idea, im all for it.

• Exception "Illegal attempt to associate a collection with two open sessions" when saving object

  I am using CastleProject ActiveRecord and I use lazy load feature of this ORM. In order to make lazy load work, it is required to create SessionScope. I do this in Program.cs: public static SessionScope sessionScope; private static void InitializeActiveRecord() { ActiveRecordStarter.Initialize(); sessionScope = new SessionScope(); } This works fine for loading, however, when I try to save my objects, I get an exception saying "Illegal attempt to associate a collection with two open sessions". I guess this is due to the fact that I created one session myself. How to avoid this exception?

• Threading multiple WebBrowser in VB .net

  I'm building a multiple webbrowser inside tabs( 1 predefine webbrowser control per tab) and I want them all to load at the same time or other words must run in thread. Unfortunately I feel a valid fact came from the error message that this is something not possible. Pls help me to check my simple program code below and its error in case i tried releasing 2 webbrowser controls but when I leave it to single web browser control it works fine. Any workaround? • Flash crash on long JSON load time

  I have a Flex program that gets a JSON array from a PHP script. The PHP script doesn't contain just a simple JSON array but it grabs data from Activecollab and do some work on the data before encoding the data. The first test involve a small JSON array that took a short time to encode by PHP. However, when I try to scale up the test, the Flash movie will crash trying to load the JSON data from PHP. There's no code difference between the tests, just the amount of data and amount of time it takes PHP to encode. Am I looking at a memory problem or a time out problem?

• Using netlink to obtain arp entries only returns stale entries

  I'm currently trying to retrieve reachable neighbors from the arp table in a user space program written in c. • System.Diagnostics.Debugger.Debug() stopped working

  I'm working on a program which uses the System.Diagnostics.Debugger.Break() method to allow the user to set a breakpoint from the command-line. This has worked fine for many weeks now. However, when I was working on fixing a unit test today, I tried to use the debug switch from the command-line, and it didn't work. Here's what I've tried: I've confirmed that the Debug() method is really being called (by putting a System.Console.WriteLine() after it) I've confirmed that the build is still in Debug I've done a clean build I've restarted Product Studio A quick Google search didn't reveal anything, and the API documentation for .Net doesn't mention anything about this function not performing correctly. So... any ideas?

• Possible to map a new file extension to an existing handler in ASP.NET?

  I have a scenario where my application is going to be publishing services that are consumed by both PC's and mobile devices, and I have a HTTPModule that I want to only perform work on only the mobile requests. So I thought the best way of doing this was to point the mobile requests to a different file extension and have the HTTPModule decide to process only if the request targets this new extension. I don't need a custom HTTPHandler for the new extension; I want to program the services like a normal .ASMX service, just with a different extension. First, can I do this? If so, how do I do it so that requests to my new extension are handled just like .ASMX requests? Second, is this the right approach? Am I going about separating and managing the mobile vs. PC requests the wrong way? Thanks, Dave

I'm talking about methods to fast-hide\camouflage not job related web pages on your desktop when boss arrives like a ghost\ninja behind your shoulders. I know how much can be frustrating, programming hard for ten hours and then been caught by your boss watching XKCD during a 2 minutes break. I think the most common anti boss trick is the evergreen CTRL+TAB, but you have to be fast and your left hand has to be near the keyboard. I saw pitch black brightness on Lcd (how can you pretend to program on that?) or custom sized browser to fit a little space just below the IDE. My favourite one at the moment is using fire gesture plugin with FF; with a micro gesture you can hide FF to your tray in a blink of an eye. Do you have any trick to share?

• fread() behaves weird

  hi, I have a problem in a C program of mine where after I use fread(), the file pointer goes to the end of the file sometimes. I'll try to explain better - the code looks something like: dummy = ftell(fp); fread(&buf, sizeof(unsigned char), 8, fp); dummy = ftell(fp); where fp is a file pointer to an opened file (opened it with "w+", I'm using it as a binary file and I know i'm supposed to have a "b" in there too, but I heard its not really important to add it..), dummy is just an unsigned long variable, and buf is unsigned char[8] now, when debugging, at the ftell before the fread, dummy is 262062 at the ftell after the fread, dummy is 262640 even though I only 'moved' 8 bytes.. does anyone have any idea what can be the cause of this..? thanks for your help :)

• Test for external undefined references in Linux

  Is there a built in linux utility that I can use to test a newly compiled shared library for external undefined references? Gcc seems to be intelligent enough to check for undefined symbols in my own binary, but if the symbol is a reference to another library gcc does not check at link time. Instead I only get the message when I try to link to my new library from another program. It seems a little silly to get undefined reference messages in a library when I am compiling a different project so I want to know if I can do a check on all references internal and external when I build the library not when I link to it.   I used a simple class for a test program about templates, this is what I did: template <typename T> class test { public: test<T>::test(); T out(); }; template <typename T> test<T>::test() { } T test<T>::out() { } int main() { //test<int> t; } But when I try to compile it says 'T' : undeclared identifier and use of class template requires template argument list , pointing to the same line, where I have implemented the method out() . Can anyone please explain what the problem is?? I'm using visual studio 2008.

• uneven illuminated images

  How to get rid of uneven illumination from images, that contain text data, usually printed but may be handwritten? It can have some spots of lights because the light reflected while making picture. I've seen the Halcon program's segment_characters function that is doing this work perfectly, but it is not open source. I wish to convert an image to the image that has a constant illumination at background and more dark colored regions of text. So that binarization will be easy and without noise. The text is assumed to be dark colored than it's background. Any ideas?

• Making Eclipse behave like Visual Studio

  I'm doing some Android dev, and I much prefer Visual Studio, but I'll have to use Eclipse for this. Has anyone made a tool that switches Eclipse to look and behave more like visual studio? I mainly can't stand its clippyesqe suggestions on how I should program (Yes, I know I have not yet used that private field! Thanks Eclipse!), or its incredibly lousy intellisense. For example, in eclipse, if I don't type "this" first, its intellisense won't realize I want to look for locally scoped members. Also, the TAB to complete VS convention is drilled into my head, and Eclipse is ENTER to complete, I could switch everything by hand but that would take hours, and I was hoping someone had some sort of theme or something that has already done it :)

• Buggy Perl regular expression

  Hi, there I'm writing a program that has to get values from a file. In the file each line indicates an entity. Each entity has three values. For example: Value1 Value2 value3 I have a regular expresion to match them m/(.*?) (.*?) (.*?)/m; But it seems that the third value in never matched! The only way to match the third value is to add another value in the file and another "matching brackets" in the expresion. But this does not satisfy me. Thanks in Advance!

• Teaching a mainframe COBOL programmer Java?

  I’m trying to help someone learn Java who’s only programming experience is COBOL on the mainframe. I was wondering if anyone knew any good resources for object oriented concepts. I learned how to program with C++ so just understand the theory behind basic OOP. I’m more concerned about a way to get the basic concepts across, such as encapsulation and inheritance rather then Java syntax. I think it’d be better to teach the concepts of OOP then a language rather then trying to cram both a new language and paradigm in at the same time. Does anyone have any resources or ideas that could help this person learn OOP followed by Java?

• mounting without -o loop

  Hi, I have written a dummy (ram disk) block device driver for linux kernel. When the driver is loaded, I can see it as /dev/mybd. I can successfully transfer data onto it using dd command, compare the copied data successfully. The problem is that when I create ext2/3 filesystem on it, I have to use -o loop option with the mount command. Otherwise mount fails with following result: mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on mybd, missing codepage or helper program, or other error What could be the problem? Please help.   I want to issue a native system command from a Scala program, and perhaps trap the output. ("ls" comes to mind. There may be other ways to get directory information without issuing the command, but that's beside the point of my question.) It would correspond to os.system(...) in Python. I've looked in "Programming in Scala". I've looked in O'Reilly's "Programming Scala". I've Googled several combinations of terms. No luck yet.   I have a python script which makes a GUI. When a button 'Run' is pressed in this GUI it runs a function from an imported package (which I made) like this from predictmiP import predictor class MiPFrame(wx.Frame): [...] def runmiP(self, event): predictor.runPrediction(self.uploadProtInterestField.GetValue(), self.uploadAllProteinsField.GetValue(), self.uploadPfamTextField.GetValue(), \ self.edit_eval_all.Value, self.edit_eval_small.Value, self.saveOutputField) When I run the GUI directly from python it all works well and the program writes an output file. However, when I make it into an app, the GUI starts but when I press the button nothing happens. predictmiP does get included in build/bdist.macosx-10.3-fat/python2.7-standalone/app/collect/, like all the other imports I'm using (although it is empty, but that's the same as all the other imports I have). How can I get multiple python files, or an imported package to work with py2app?

• Screen capture during testing

  This is an application for reviewing performance tests. Simple in concept, tricky to describe. Picture: 1) Recording interactions with a WPF program so the inputs can be played back. 2) Playing the inputs back while doing a continuous screen capture. 3) Capturing wall time as well as continuous CPU percentages during playback. 4) Repeating steps (2) and (3) lots of times. 5) Writing the relevant stuff out to files/db. 6) Reading it and putting it all in a fancy UI for easy review/analysis. The killer for me is (2). I could use some guidance on a good, possibly commercial, screen capture SDK. I would also welcome the news that my whole problem already has a solution. • Reading and writing to SysV shared memory without synchronization (use of semaphores, C/C++, Linux)

  Hi, I use SysV shared memory to let two processes communicate with each other. I do not want the code to become to complex so I wondered if I really had to use semaphores to synchronize the access to the shared memory. In my C/C++ program the parent process reads from the shared memory and the child process writes to the shared memory. I wrote two test applications to see if I could produce some kind of error like a segmentation fault, but I couldn't (Ubuntu 10.04 64bit). Even two processes writing non stop in a while loop to the same shared memory did not produce any error. I hope someone has experience concerning this matter and can tell me if I really must use semaphores to synchronize the access or if I am OK without synchronization. Thanks

  I'm trying to create a word ladder program in python. I'd like to generate words that are similar to a given word. In c++ or java, I would go through each valid index in the original string, and replace it with each letter in the english alphabet, and see if the result is a valid word. for example (pseudocode) for (int i = 0; i < word.length(); i++) { for (every character c in the alphabet) { change the letter of word at index i to be c. if the result is a valid word, store it in a list of similar words } } . However, this doesn't seem like a very "python" way of doing things. How would I approach this problem in python?

• ghc can't find my cabal installed packages

  I've installed ghc 6.12.3, and then the Haskell Platform. I'm trying to compile a test program: $ ghc test.hs test.hs:3:0: Failed to load interface for `Bindings': Use -v to see a list of the files searched for. so, naturally, I do cabal install Bindings Which works fine, and places the package in ~/.cabal/lib/bindings-0.1.2 The problem is, that when I go to compile again with ghc, it still doesn't find the package I've installed with cabal. compiling in verbose mode gives: ghc -v test.hs Using binary package database: /home/ludflu/ghc/lib/ghc-6.12.3/package.conf.d/package.cache Using binary package database: /home/ludflu/.ghc/x86_64-linux 6.12.3/package.conf.d/package.cache As suggested by another stackoverflow user, I tried: ghc-pkg describe rts > rts.pkg vi rts.pkg # add the /home/ludflu/.cabal/lib to `library-dirs` field ghc-pkg update rts.pkg But to no avail. How to I add the .cabal to the list of package directories to search? Thank you!

• Disk Cost does not change for a per machine and a per user install

  I want to know how can i change or rather the computer changes the disk cost in case of a per user or a per machine install. I have an installer that is approximate 50 MB in size when i check in the program files how ever when i am using the DiskCostDlg it shows me 96 MB , i am doing a per user and a per machine install and i am surprised to see that in both the cases the disk requirement is same. I need to know if there is a possibility of changing the disk requirements or is it a default property of the Wix Installer. Thanks
