  • How to internally rewrite a page when requested from specific HTTP_HOST

    - by Andy
    Hi all, I have a Drupal site, site.com, and our client has a campaign that they're promoting for which they've bought a new domain name, campaign.com. I'd like it so that a request for campaign.com internally rewrites to a particular page of the Drupal site. Note Drupal uses an .htaccess file in the document root. The normal Drupal rewrite is # Rewrite URLs of the form 'x' to the form 'index.php?q=x'. RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !=/favicon.ico RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA] I added the following before the normal rewrite. # Custom URLS (eg. microsites) go here RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} =campaign.com RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} =/ RewriteRule ^ index.php?q=node/22 [L] Unfortunately it doesn't work, it just shows the homepage. Turning on the rewrite log I get this. 1. [rid#2da8ea8/initial] (3) [perdir D:/wamp/www/] strip per-dir prefix: D:/wamp/www/ - 2. [rid#2da8ea8/initial] (3) [perdir D:/wamp/www/] applying pattern '^' to uri '' 3. [rid#2da8ea8/initial] (2) [perdir D:/wamp/www/] rewrite '' - 'index.php?q=node/22' 4. [rid#2da8ea8/initial] (3) split uri=index.php?q=node/22 - uri=index.php, args=q=node/22 5. [rid#2da8ea8/initial] (3) [perdir D:/wamp/www/] add per-dir prefix: index.php - D:/wamp/www/index.php 6. [rid#2da8ea8/initial] (2) [perdir D:/wamp/www/] strip document_root prefix: D:/wamp/www/index.php - /index.php 7. [rid#2da8ea8/initial] (1) [perdir D:/wamp/www/] internal redirect with /index.php [INTERNAL REDIRECT] 8. [rid#2da7770/initial/redir#1] (3) [perdir D:/wamp/www/] strip per-dir prefix: D:/wamp/www/index.php - index.php 9. [rid#2da7770/initial/redir#1] (3) [perdir D:/wamp/www/] applying pattern '^' to uri 'index.php' 10.[rid#2da7770/initial/redir#1] (3) [perdir D:/wamp/www/] strip per-dir prefix: D:/wamp/www/index.php - index.php 11.[rid#2da7770/initial/redir#1] (3) [perdir D:/wamp/www/] applying pattern '^(.*)$' to uri 'index.php' 12.[rid#2da7770/initial/redir#1] (1) [perdir D:/wamp/www/] pass through D:/wamp/www/index.php I'm not used to mod_rewrite, so I might be missing something, but comparing the logs from a call to http://site.com/node/3 and from http://campaign.com/ I can't see any meaningful difference. Specifically uri and args on line 4 seem correct, the internal redirect on line 7 seems right, and the pass through on line 12 seems right (because the file index.php exists). But for some reason it seems the query string's been discarded/ignored around the time of the internal redirect. I'm completely stumped. Also, if anyone could provide a reference on understanding the rewrite log, that might help. It'd be great if there's a way to track the query string through the internal redirect. FWIW I'm using WampServer 2.1 with Apache 2.2.17.

  • Windows Azure Use Case: High-Performance Computing (HPC)

    - by BuckWoody
    This is one in a series of posts on when and where to use a distributed architecture design in your organization's computing needs. You can find the main post here: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/buckwoody/archive/2011/01/18/windows-azure-and-sql-azure-use-cases.aspx  Description: High-Performance Computing (also called Technical Computing) at its most simplistic is a layout of computer workloads where a “head node” accepts work requests, and parses them out to “worker nodes'”. This is useful in cases such as scientific simulations, drug research, MatLab work and where other large compute loads are required. It’s not the immediate-result type computing many are used to; instead, a “job” or group of work requests is sent to a cluster of computers and the worker nodes work on individual parts of the calculations and return the work to the scheduler or head node for the requestor in a batch-request fashion. This is typical to the way that many mainframe computing use-cases work. You can use commodity-based computers to create an HPC Cluster, such as the Linux application called Beowulf, and Microsoft has a server product for HPC using standard computers, called the Windows Compute Cluster that you can read more about here. The issue with HPC (from any vendor) that some organization have is the amount of compute nodes they need. Having too many results in excess infrastructure, including computers, buildings, storage, heat and so on. Having too few means that the work is slower, and takes longer to return a result to the calling application. Unless there is a consistent level of work requested, predicting the number of nodes is problematic. Implementation: Recently, Microsoft announced an internal partnership between the HPC group (Now called the Technical Computing Group) and Windows Azure. You now have two options for implementing an HPC environment using Windows. You can extend the current infrastructure you have for HPC by adding in Compute Nodes in Windows Azure, using a “Broker Node”.  You can then purchase time for adding machines, and then stop paying for them when the work is completed. This is a common pattern in groups that have a constant need for HPC, but need to “burst” that load count under certain conditions. The second option is to install only a Head Node and a Broker Node onsite, and host all Compute Nodes in Windows Azure. This is often the pattern for organizations that need HPC on a scheduled and periodic basis, such as financial analysis or actuarial table calculations. • A* navigational mesh path finding

    - by theguywholikeslinux
    So I've been making this top down 2D java game in this framework called Greenfoot [1] and I've been working on the AI for the guys you are gonna fight. I want them to be able to move around the world realistically so I soon realized, amongst a couple of other things, I would need some kind of pathfinding. I have made two A* prototypes. One is grid based and then I made one that works with waypoints so now I need to work out a way to get from a 2d "map" of the obstacles/buildings to a graph of nodes that I can make a path from. The actual pathfinding seems fine, just my open and closed lists could use a more efficient data structure, but I'll get to that if and when I need to. I intend to use a navigational mesh for all the reasons out lined in this post on ai-blog.net [2]. However, the problem I have faced is that what A* thinks is the shortest path from the polygon centres/edges is not necessarily the shortest path if you travel through any part of the node. To get a better idea you can see the question I asked on stackoverflow [3]. I got a good answer concerning a visibility graph. I have since purchased the book (Computational Geometry: Algorithms and Applications [4]) and read further into the topic, however I am still in favour of a navigational mesh (See "Managing Complexity" [5] from Amit’s Notes about Path-Finding [6]). (As a side note, maybe I could possibly use Theta* to convert multiple waypoints into one straight line if the first and last are not obscured. Or each time I move back check to the waypoint before last to see if I can go straight from that to this) So basically what I want is a navigational mesh where once I have put it through a funnel algorithm (e.g. this one from Digesting Duck [7]) I will get the true shortest path, rather than get one that is the shortest path following node to node only, but not the actual shortest given that you can go through some polygons and skip nodes/edges. Oh and I also want to know how you suggest storing the information concerning the polygons. For the waypoint prototype example I made I just had each node as an object and stored a list of all the other nodes you could travel to from that node, I'm guessing that won't work with polygons? and how to I tell if a polygon is open/traversable or if it is a solid object? How do I store which nodes make up the polygon? Finally, for the record: I do want to programme this by myself from scratch even though there are already other solutions available and I don't intend to be (re) using this code in anything other than this game so it does not matter that it will inevitably be poor quality. http://greenfoot.org http://www.ai-blog.net/archives/000152.html http://stackoverflow.com/q/7585515/ http://www.cs.uu.nl/geobook/ http://theory.stanford.edu/~amitp/GameProgramming/MapRepresentations.html http://theory.stanford.edu/~amitp/GameProgramming/ http://digestingduck.blogspot.com/2010/03/simple-stupid-funnel-algorithm.html

  • New Oracles VM RAC template with support for oracle vm 3 built-in

    - by wcoekaer
    The RAC team did it again (thanks Saar!) - another awesome set of Oracle VM templates published and uploaded to My Oracle Support. You can find the main page here. What's special about the latest version of DeployCluster is that it integrates tightly with Oracle VM 3 manager. It basically is an Oracle VM frontend that helps start VMs, pass arguments down automatically and there is absolutely no need to log into the Oracle VM servers or the guests. Once it completes, you have an entire Oracle RAC database setup ready to go. Here's a short summary of the steps : Set up an Oracle VM 3 server pool Download the Oracle VM RAC template from oracle.com Import the template into Oracle VM using Oracle VM Manager repository - import Create a public and private network in Oracle VM Manager in the network tab Configure the template with the right public and private virtual networks Create a set of shared disks (physical or virtual) to assign to the VMs you want to create (for ASM/at least 5) Clone a set of VMs from the template (as many RAC nodes as you plan to configure) With Oracle VM 3.1 you can clone with a number so one clone command for, say 8 VMs is easy. Assign the shared devices/disks to the cloned VMs Create a netconfig.ini file on your manager node or a client where you plan to run DeployCluster This little text file just contains the IP addresses, hostnames etc for your cluster. It is a very simple small textfile. Run deploycluster.py with the VM names as argument Done. At this point, the tool will connect to Oracle VM Manager, start the VMs and configure each one, Configure the OS (Oracle Linux) Configure the disks with ASM Configure the clusterware (CRS) Configure ASM Create database instances on each node. Now you are ready to log in, and use your x node database cluster. x No need to download various products from various websites, click on trial licenses for the OS, go to a Virtual Machine store with sample and test versions only - this is production ready and supported. Software. Complete. example netconfig.ini : # Node specific information NODE1=racnode1 NODE1VIP=racnode1-vip NODE1PRIV=racnode1-priv NODE1IP=192.168.1.2 NODE1VIPIP=192.168.1.22 NODE1PRIVIP=10.0.0.22 NODE2=racnode2 NODE2VIP=racnode2-vip NODE2PRIV=racnode2-priv NODE2IP=192.168.1.3 NODE2VIPIP=192.168.1.23 NODE2PRIVIP=10.0.0.23 # Common data PUBADAP=eth0 PUBMASK=255.255.255.0 PUBGW=192.168.1.1 PRIVADAP=eth1 PRIVMASK=255.255.255.0 RACCLUSTERNAME=raccluster DOMAINNAME=mydomain.com DNSIP= # Device used to transfer network information to second node # in interview mode NETCONFIG_DEV=/dev/xvdc # 11gR2 specific data SCANNAME=racnode12-scan SCANIP=192.168.1.50

  • How to fix Ogre3d segfault with std::_Rb_tree_insert_and_rebalance ?

    - by Balázs Béla
    Hello all. I'm working on a 3d music visualizer using Ogre3d, basically it's a spectrum analizer, a lot like the old xmms plugin: (http)://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6NKBiwYN24 It works well, the bars are drawn and updated, there are no framerate issues, but it crashes randomly. Sometimes it can run without problems, finish the song, other times it crashes instantly, other times the music just stops, without a crash. Here is the source code for the main class : https://github.com/balazsbela/OgreVisualizer/blob/master/src/VisualizerApplication.cpp#L221 Also the crashes seem to happen less often when I display the framerate overlay from Ogre samples. Would limiting the framerate help ? The crashes are seemingly random. Is it a performance issue ? Please help me out, I'm quite lost on this one, I also posted on Ogre3d forums but I received no responses. (http)://www.ogre3d.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=63207 I also tried stackoverflow: (http)://stackoverflow.com/questions/5050147/how-to-fix-ogre3d-segfault-with-std-rb-tree-insert-and-rebalance Thank you. • Mercurial hook to disallow committing large binary files

    - by hekevintran
    I want to have a Mercurial hook that will run before committing a transaction that will abort the transaction if a binary file being committed is greater than 1 megabyte. I found the following code which works fine except for one problem. If my changeset involves removing a file, this hook will throw an exception. The hook (I'm using pretxncommit = python:checksize.newbinsize): from mercurial import context, util from mercurial.i18n import _ import mercurial.node as dpynode '''hooks to forbid adding binary file over a given size Ensure the PYTHONPATH is pointing where hg_checksize.py is and setup your repo .hg/hgrc like this: [hooks] pretxncommit = python:checksize.newbinsize pretxnchangegroup = python:checksize.newbinsize preoutgoing = python:checksize.nopull [limits] maxnewbinsize = 10240 ''' def newbinsize(ui, repo, node=None, **kwargs): '''forbid to add binary files over a given size''' forbid = False # default limit is 10 MB limit = int(ui.config('limits', 'maxnewbinsize', 10000000)) tip = context.changectx(repo, 'tip').rev() ctx = context.changectx(repo, node) for rev in range(ctx.rev(), tip+1): ctx = context.changectx(repo, rev) print ctx.files() for f in ctx.files(): fctx = ctx.filectx(f) filecontent = fctx.data() # check only for new files if not fctx.parents(): if len(filecontent) > limit and util.binary(filecontent): msg = 'new binary file %s of %s is too large: %ld > %ld\n' hname = dpynode.short(ctx.node()) ui.write(_(msg) % (f, hname, len(filecontent), limit)) forbid = True return forbid The exception: $ hg commit -m 'commit message' error: pretxncommit hook raised an exception: apps/helpers/templatetags/include_extends.py@bced6272d8f4: not found in manifest transaction abort! rollback completed abort: apps/helpers/templatetags/include_extends.py@bced6272d8f4: not found in manifest! I'm not familiar with writing Mercurial hooks, so I'm pretty confused about what's going on. Why does the hook care that a file was removed if hg already knows about it? Is there a way to fix this hook so that it works all the time? Update (solved): I modified the hook to filter out files that were removed in the changeset. def newbinsize(ui, repo, node=None, **kwargs): '''forbid to add binary files over a given size''' forbid = False # default limit is 10 MB limit = int(ui.config('limits', 'maxnewbinsize', 10000000)) ctx = repo[node] for rev in xrange(ctx.rev(), len(repo)): ctx = context.changectx(repo, rev) # do not check the size of files that have been removed # files that have been removed do not have filecontexts # to test for whether a file was removed, test for the existence of a filecontext filecontexts = list(ctx) def file_was_removed(f): """Returns True if the file was removed""" if f not in filecontexts: return True else: return False for f in itertools.ifilterfalse(file_was_removed, ctx.files()): fctx = ctx.filectx(f) filecontent = fctx.data() # check only for new files if not fctx.parents(): if len(filecontent) > limit and util.binary(filecontent): msg = 'new binary file %s of %s is too large: %ld > %ld\n' hname = dpynode.short(ctx.node()) ui.write(_(msg) % (f, hname, len(filecontent), limit)) forbid = True return forbid

  • C++ print out a binary search tree

    - by starcorn
    Hello, Got nothing better to do this Christmas holiday, so I decided to try out making a binary search tree. I'm stuck with the print function. How should the logic behind it work? Since the tree is already inserting it in a somewhat sorted order, and I want to print the tree from smallest values to the biggest. So I need to travel to the furthest left branch of the tree to print the first value. Right, so after that how do I remember the way back up, do I need to save the previous node? A search in wikipedia gave me an solution which they used stack. And other solutions I couldn't quite understand how they've made it, so I'm asking here instead hoping someone can enlight me. I also wonder my insert function is OK. I've seen other's solution being smaller. void treenode::insert(int i) { if(root == 0) { cout << "root" << endl; root = new node(i,root); } else { node* travel = root; node* prev; while(travel) { if(travel->value > i) { cout << "travel left" << endl; prev = travel; travel = travel->left; } else { cout << "travel right" << endl; prev = travel; travel = travel->right; } } //insert if(prev->value > i) { cout << "left" << endl; prev->left = new node(i); } else { cout << "right" << endl; prev->right = new node(i); } } } void treenode::print() { node* travel = root; while(travel) { cout << travel->value << endl; travel = travel->left; } }

  • Windows Azure: Major Updates for Mobile Backend Development

    - by ScottGu
    This week we released some great updates to Windows Azure that make it significantly easier to develop mobile applications that use the cloud. These new capabilities include: Mobile Services: Custom API support Mobile Services: Git Source Control support Mobile Services: Node.js NPM Module support Mobile Services: A .NET API via NuGet Mobile Services and Web Sites: Free 20MB SQL Database Option for Mobile Services and Web Sites Mobile Notification Hubs: Android Broadcast Push Notification Support All of these improvements are now available to use immediately (note: some are still in preview).  Below are more details about them. Mobile Services: Custom APIs, Git Source Control, and NuGet Windows Azure Mobile Services provides the ability to easily stand up a mobile backend that can be used to support your Windows 8, Windows Phone, iOS, Android and HTML5 client applications.  Starting with the first preview we supported the ability to easily extend your data backend logic with server side scripting that executes as part of client-side CRUD operations against your cloud back data tables. With today’s update we are extending this support even further and introducing the ability for you to also create and expose Custom APIs from your Mobile Service backend, and easily publish them to your Mobile clients without having to associate them with a data table. This capability enables a whole set of new scenarios – including the ability to work with data sources other than SQL Databases (for example: Table Services or MongoDB), broker calls to 3rd party APIs, integrate with Windows Azure Queues or Service Bus, work with custom non-JSON payloads (e.g. Windows Periodic Notifications), route client requests to services back on-premises (e.g. with the new Windows Azure BizTalk Services), or simply implement functionality that doesn’t correspond to a database operation.  The custom APIs can be written in server-side JavaScript (using Node.js) and can use Node’s NPM packages.  We will also be adding support for custom APIs written using .NET in the future as well. Creating a Custom API Adding a custom API to an existing Mobile Service is super easy.  Using the Windows Azure Management Portal you can now simply click the new “API” tab with your Mobile Service, and then click the “Create a Custom API” button to create a new Custom API within it: Give the API whatever name you want to expose, and then choose the security permissions you’d like to apply to the HTTP methods you expose within it.  You can easily lock down the HTTP verbs to your Custom API to be available to anyone, only those who have a valid application key, only authenticated users, or administrators.  Mobile Services will then enforce these permissions without you having to write any code: When you click the ok button you’ll see the new API show up in the API list.  Selecting it will enable you to edit the default script that contains some placeholder functionality: Today’s release enables Custom APIs to be written using Node.js (we will support writing Custom APIs in .NET as well in a future release), and the Custom API programming model follows the Node.js convention for modules, which is to export functions to handle HTTP requests. The default script above exposes functionality for an HTTP POST request. To support a GET, simply change the export statement accordingly.  Below is an example of some code for reading and returning data from Windows Azure Table Storage using the Azure Node API: After saving the changes, you can now call this API from any Mobile Service client application (including Windows 8, Windows Phone, iOS, Android or HTML5 with CORS). Below is the code for how you could invoke the API asynchronously from a Windows Store application using .NET and the new InvokeApiAsync method, and data-bind the results to control within your XAML:     private async void RefreshTodoItems() {         var results = await App.MobileService.InvokeApiAsync<List<TodoItem>>("todos", HttpMethod.Get, parameters: null);         ListItems.ItemsSource = new ObservableCollection<TodoItem>(results);     }    Integrating authentication and authorization with Custom APIs is really easy with Mobile Services. Just like with data requests, custom API requests enjoy the same built-in authentication and authorization support of Mobile Services (including integration with Microsoft ID, Google, Facebook and Twitter authentication providers), and it also enables you to easily integrate your Custom API code with other Mobile Service capabilities like push notifications, logging, SQL, etc. Check out our new tutorials to learn more about to use new Custom API support, and starting adding them to your app today. Mobile Services: Git Source Control Support Today’s Mobile Services update also enables source control integration with Git.  The new source control support provides a Git repository as part your Mobile Service, and it includes all of your existing Mobile Service scripts and permissions. You can clone that git repository on your local machine, make changes to any of your scripts, and then easily deploy the mobile service to production using Git. This enables a really great developer workflow that works on any developer machine (Windows, Mac and Linux). To use the new support, navigate to the dashboard for your mobile service and select the Set up source control link: If this is your first time enabling Git within Windows Azure, you will be prompted to enter the credentials you want to use to access the repository: Once you configure this, you can switch to the configure tab of your Mobile Service and you will see a Git URL you can use to use your repository: You can use this URL to clone the repository locally from your favorite command line: > git clone https://scottgutodo.scm.azure-mobile.net/ScottGuToDo.git Below is the directory structure of the repository: As you can see, the repository contains a service folder with several subfolders. Custom API scripts and associated permissions appear under the api folder as .js and .json files respectively (the .json files persist a JSON representation of the security settings for your endpoints). Similarly, table scripts and table permissions appear as .js and .json files, but since table scripts are separate per CRUD operation, they follow the naming convention of <tablename>.<operationname>.js. Finally, scheduled job scripts appear in the scheduler folder, and the shared folder is provided as a convenient location for you to store code shared by multiple scripts and a few miscellaneous things such as the APNS feedback script. Lets modify the table script todos.js file so that we have slightly better error handling when an exception occurs when we query our Table service: todos.js tableService.queryEntities(query, function(error, todoItems){     if (error) {         console.error("Error querying table: " + error);         response.send(500);     } else {         response.send(200, todoItems);     }        }); Save these changes, and now back in the command line prompt commit the changes and push them to the Mobile Services: > git add . > git commit –m "better error handling in todos.js" > git push Once deployment of the changes is complete, they will take effect immediately, and you will also see the changes be reflected in the portal: With the new Source Control feature, we’re making it really easy for you to edit your mobile service locally and push changes in an atomic fashion without sacrificing ease of use in the Windows Azure Portal. Mobile Services: NPM Module Support The new Mobile Services source control support also allows you to add any Node.js module you need in the scripts beyond the fixed set provided by Mobile Services. For example, you can easily switch to use Mongo instead of Windows Azure table in our example above. Set up Mongo DB by either purchasing a MongoLab subscription (which provides MongoDB as a Service) via the Windows Azure Store or set it up yourself on a Virtual Machine (either Windows or Linux). Then go the service folder of your local git repository and run the following command: > npm install mongoose This will add the Mongoose module to your Mobile Service scripts.  After that you can use and reference the Mongoose module in your custom API scripts to access your Mongo database: var mongoose = require('mongoose'); var schema = mongoose.Schema({ text: String, completed: Boolean });   exports.get = function (request, response) {     mongoose.connect('<your Mongo connection string> ');     TodoItemModel = mongoose.model('todoitem', schema);     TodoItemModel.find(function (err, items) {         if (err) {             console.log('error:' + err);             return response.send(500);         }         response.send(200, items);     }); }; Don’t forget to push your changes to your mobile service once you are done > git add . > git commit –m "Switched to use Mongo Labs" > git push Now our Mobile Service app is using Mongo DB! Note, with today’s update usage of custom Node.js modules is limited to Custom API scripts only. We will enable it in all scripts (including data and custom CRON tasks) shortly. New Mobile Services NuGet package, including .NET 4.5 support A few months ago we announced a new pre-release version of the Mobile Services client SDK based on portable class libraries (PCL). Today, we are excited to announce that this new library is now a stable .NET client SDK for mobile services and is no longer a pre-release package. Today’s update includes full support for Windows Store, Windows Phone 7.x, and .NET 4.5, which allows developers to use Mobile Services from ASP.NET or WPF applications. You can install and use this package today via NuGet. Mobile Services and Web Sites: Free 20MB Database for Mobile Services and Web Sites Starting today, every customer of Windows Azure gets one Free 20MB database to use for 12 months free (for both dev/test and production) with Web Sites and Mobile Services. When creating a Mobile Service or a Web Site, simply chose the new “Create a new Free 20MB database” option to take advantage of it: You can use this free SQL Database together with the 10 free Web Sites and 10 free Mobile Services you get with your Windows Azure subscription, or from any other Windows Azure VM or Cloud Service. Notification Hubs: Android Broadcast Push Notification Support Earlier this year, we introduced a new capability in Windows Azure for sending broadcast push notifications at high scale: Notification Hubs. In the initial preview of Notification Hubs you could use this support with both iOS and Windows devices.  Today we’re excited to announce new Notification Hubs support for sending push notifications to Android devices as well. Push notifications are a vital component of mobile applications.  They are critical not only in consumer apps, where they are used to increase app engagement and usage, but also in enterprise apps where up-to-date information increases employee responsiveness to business events.  You can use Notification Hubs to send push notifications to devices from any type of app (a Mobile Service, Web Site, Cloud Service or Virtual Machine). Notification Hubs provide you with the following capabilities: Cross-platform Push Notifications Support. Notification Hubs provide a common API to send push notifications to iOS, Android, or Windows Store at once.  Your app can send notifications in platform specific formats or in a platform-independent way.  Efficient Multicast. Notification Hubs are optimized to enable push notification broadcast to thousands or millions of devices with low latency.  Your server back-end can fire one message into a Notification Hub, and millions of push notifications can automatically be delivered to your users.  Devices and apps can specify a number of per-user tags when registering with a Notification Hub. These tags do not need to be pre-provisioned or disposed, and provide a very easy way to send filtered notifications to an infinite number of users/devices with a single API call.   Extreme Scale. Notification Hubs enable you to reach millions of devices without you having to re-architect or shard your application.  The pub/sub routing mechanism allows you to broadcast notifications in a super-efficient way.  This makes it incredibly easy to route and deliver notification messages to millions of users without having to build your own routing infrastructure. Usable from any Backend App. Notification Hubs can be easily integrated into any back-end server app, whether it is a Mobile Service, a Web Site, a Cloud Service or an IAAS VM. It is easy to configure Notification Hubs to send push notifications to Android. Create a new Notification Hub within the Windows Azure Management Portal (New->App Services->Service Bus->Notification Hub): Then register for Google Cloud Messaging using https://code.google.com/apis/console and obtain your API key, then simply paste that key on the Configure tab of your Notification Hub management page under the Google Cloud Messaging Settings: Then just add code to the OnCreate method of your Android app’s MainActivity class to register the device with Notification Hubs: gcm = GoogleCloudMessaging.getInstance(this); String connectionString = "<your listen access connection string>"; hub = new NotificationHub("<your notification hub name>", connectionString, this); String regid = gcm.register(SENDER_ID); hub.register(regid, "myTag"); Now you can broadcast notification from your .NET backend (or Node, Java, or PHP) to any Windows Store, Android, or iOS device registered for “myTag” tag via a single API call (you can literally broadcast messages to millions of clients you have registered with just one API call): var hubClient = NotificationHubClient.CreateClientFromConnectionString(                   “<your connection string with full access>”,                   "<your notification hub name>"); hubClient.SendGcmNativeNotification("{ 'data' : {'msg' : 'Hello from Windows Azure!' } }", "myTag”); Notification Hubs provide an extremely scalable, cross-platform, push notification infrastructure that enables you to efficiently route push notification messages to millions of mobile users and devices.  It will make enabling your push notification logic significantly simpler and more scalable, and allow you to build even better apps with it. Learn more about Notification Hubs here on MSDN . Summary The above features are now live and available to start using immediately (note: some of the services are still in preview).  If you don’t already have a Windows Azure account, you can sign-up for a free trial and start using them today.  Visit the Windows Azure Developer Center to learn more about how to build apps with it. • assign member based on string value

    - by Aperion
    I need start off with code because I am not sure what terminology to use. Lets say I have the following code: class Node { public: void Parse(rapidxml::xml_node<> *node) { for (rapidxml::xml_attribute<> *attr = node->first_attribute(); attr; attr = attr->next_attribute()) { std::stringstream converter; converter << attr->value(); if( !strcmp(attr->name(), "x") ) converter >> x; else if( !strcmp(attr->name(),"y") ) converter >> y; else if( !strcmp(attr->name(), "z") ) converter >> z; } } private: float x; float y; float z; }; What I can't stand is the repetition of if( !strcmp(attr-name(), "x") ) converter x; I feel that this is error prone and monotonous, but I cannot think of another way to map a string value to a member assignment. What are some other approaches one can take to avoid code such as this? The only other possible alternative I could think of was to use a hashmap, but that runs into problems with callbacks This is the best I could up with but it's not as flexible as I'd like: class Node { Node() : x(0.0f), y(0.0f), z(0.0f) { assignmentMap["x"] = &x; assignmentMap["y"] = &y; assignmentMap["z"] = &z; } public: void Parse(rapidxml::xml_node<> *node) { for (rapidxml::xml_attribute<> *attr = node->first_attribute(); attr; attr = attr->next_attribute()) { if( !attr->name() ) continue; std::stringstream converter; converter << attr->value(); converter >> *assignmentMap[attr->name()]; } } private: float x; float y; float z; std::map<std::string, float*> assignmentMap; };

  • Unsure how to design JavaScript / jQuery functionality which uses XML to create HTML objects

    - by Jack Roscoe
    Hi, I'm using JavScript and jQuery to read an XML document and subsequently use the information from the XML to create HTML objects. The main 'C' nodes in the XML document all have a type attribute, and depending on the type I want to run a function which will create a new html object using the other attributes assigned to that particular 'C' node node. Currently, I have a for loop which extracts each 'C' node from the XML and also it's attributes (e.g. width, height, x, y). Also inside the for loop, I have an if statement which checks the 'type' attribute of the current 'C' node being processed, and depending on the type it will run a different function which will then create a new HTML object with the attributes which have been drawn from the XML. The problem is that there may be more than one 'C' node of the same type, so for example when I'm creating the function that will run when a 'C' node of 'type=1' is detected, I cannot use the 'var p = document.createElement('p')' because if a 'C' node of the same type comes up later in the loop it will clash and override that element with that variable that has just been created. I'm not really sure how to approach this? Here is my entire script. If you need me to elaborate on any parts please ask, I'm sure it's not written in the nicest possible way: var arrayIds = new Array(); $(document).ready(function(){ $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "question.xml", dataType: "xml", success: function(xml) { $(xml).find("C").each(function(){ arrayIds.push($(this).attr('ID')); }); var svgTag = document.createElement('SVG'); // Create question type objects function ctyp3(x,y,width,height,baC) { alert('test'); var r = document.createElement('rect'); r.x = x; r.y = y; r.width = width; r.height = height; r.fillcolor = baC; svgTag.appendChild(r); } // Extract question data from XML var questions = []; for (j=0; j<arrayIds.length; j++) { $(xml).find("C[ID='" + arrayIds[j] + "']").each(function(){ // pass values questions[j] = { typ: $(this).attr('typ'), width: $(this).find("I").attr('wid'), height: $(this).find("I").attr('hei'), x: $(this).find("I").attr('x'), y: $(this).find("I").attr('x'), baC: $(this).find("I").attr('baC'), boC: $(this).find("I").attr('boC'), boW: $(this).find("I").attr('boW') } alert($(this).attr('typ')); if ($(this).attr('typ') == '3') { ctyp3(x,y,width,height,baC); // alert('pass'); } else { // Add here // alert('fail'); } }); } } }); });

  • Passing input value thru XML loop and return value

    - by Mike Dyer
    "X" is reading the form value, but it is still passing and older "var thisMarket" value. The objective is to take a zip code via HTML form: <form id="market" name="market" onSubmit="return validateZIP(this.zip.value);" method="get" action=""> <input type="text" name="zip" id="zip" value="zipcode" onfocus="if(!this._haschanged){this.value=''};this._haschanged=true;" style="float:left; width:100px; margin-top:5px;"> <input type="image" style="float:left; margin-top:5px; border: 0pt none ; width: 22px; height:17px;" src="images/nav/bottom/linkbar/btn_search_btn.gif" onClick="findLda();"> </form> The script being passed thru is: function findLda(x){ marketName = new Array(); marketURL = new Array(); zip = new Array(); zip_temp = new Array(); zipMatch = false; var shareZip = "Shared Zips"; var thisMarket = "Market value"; xmlDoc=loadXML("/_includes/market.xml"); var Offer,node; document.getElementById('market').innerHTML=''; for(var j=0; j<xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName('market').length; j++){ node = xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName('market')[j]; marketName.push(node.childNodes[3].textContent); marketURL.push(node.childNodes[5].textContent); for(var k=0; k<node.getElementsByTagName('zip').length; k++){ if(node.getElementsByTagName('zip')[k].textContent!=null){ zip_temp.push(node.getElementsByTagName('zip')[k].textContent); } } zip.push(zip_temp); zip_temp = new Array(); } //loop the zip Array to find a match for the query Zip. for(k=0; k<zip.length; k++){ for(m=0; m<zip[k].length; m++){ if(x == zip[k][m].toString()){ zipMatch=true; thisMarket=marketName[k].toString(); } } } alert(thisMarket); } The objective naturally is to take field input (A), pass it thru market.xml - initialize a loop and match a zip (B), alert the result (C). Looking for any direction with what is existing or a completely new direction. Thanks!

  • How do I resolve the message "Validating WSFC quorum vote configuration - Action Required."

    - by Rob Boek
    I have a 3 node AlwaysOn Availability Group on a 3 node WSFC using node majority. 2 nodes are setup as synchronous with automatic fail-over, the 3rd is setup as asynchronous with manual fail-over. When I try to fail-over using the GUI, I get a warning as shown in the screenshot. There is no warning or error if I fail-over with T-SQL. Adding a file share to the quorum doesn't help. The only way I can resolve the warning is to remove the asynchronous sql instance from the 3rd node (it remains part of the WSFC). Either way, the AlwaysOn dashboard says quorum is OK. Am I missing something? Is this a bug in the GUI that I should just ignore? Clicking "Action Required" gives the following error:

  • Example map-reduce oozie program not working on CDH 4.5

    - by user2002748
    I am using Hadoop (CDH 4.5) on my mac since some time now, and do run map reduce jobs regularly. I installed oozie recently (again, CDH4.5) following instructions at: http://archive.cloudera.com/cdh4/cdh/4/oozie-3.3.2-cdh4.5.0/DG_QuickStart.html, and tried to run sample programs provided. However, it always fails with the following error. Looks like the workflow is not getting run at all. The Console URL field in the Job info is also empty. Could someone please help on this? The relevant snippet of the Oozie Job log follows. 2014-06-10 17:27:18,414 INFO ActionStartXCommand:539 - USER[userXXX] GROUP[-] TOKEN[] APP[map-reduce-wf] JOB[0000000-140610172702069-oozie-usrX-W] ACTION[0000000-140610172702069-oozie-usrX-W@:start:] Start action [0000000-140610172702069-oozie-usrX-W@:start:] with user-retry state : userRetryCount [0], userRetryMax [0], userRetryInterval [10] 2014-06-10 17:27:18,417 WARN ActionStartXCommand:542 - USER[userXXX] GROUP[-] TOKEN[] APP[map-reduce-wf] JOB[0000000-140610172702069-oozie-usrX-W] ACTION[0000000-140610172702069-oozie-usrX-W@:start:] [***0000000-140610172702069-oozie-usrX-W@:start:***]Action status=DONE 2014-06-10 17:27:18,417 WARN ActionStartXCommand:542 - USER[userXXX] GROUP[-] TOKEN[] APP[map-reduce-wf] JOB[0000000-140610172702069-oozie-usrX-W] ACTION[0000000-140610172702069-oozie-usrX-W@:start:] [***0000000-140610172702069-oozie-usrX-W@:start:***]Action updated in DB! 2014-06-10 17:27:18,576 INFO ActionStartXCommand:539 - USER[userXXX] GROUP[-] TOKEN[] APP[map-reduce-wf] JOB[0000000-140610172702069-oozie-usrX-W] ACTION[0000000-140610172702069-oozie-usrX-W@mr-node] Start action [0000000-140610172702069-oozie-usrX-W@mr-node] with user-retry state : userRetryCount [0], userRetryMax [0], userRetryInterval [10] 2014-06-10 17:27:19,188 WARN MapReduceActionExecutor:542 - USER[userXXX] GROUP[-] TOKEN[] APP[map-reduce-wf] JOB[0000000-140610172702069-oozie-usrX-W] ACTION[0000000-140610172702069-oozie-usrX-W@mr-node] credentials is null for the action 2014-06-10 17:27:19,423 WARN ActionStartXCommand:542 - USER[userXXX] GROUP[-] TOKEN[] APP[map-reduce-wf] JOB[0000000-140610172702069-oozie-usrX-W] ACTION[0000000-140610172702069-oozie-usrX-W@mr-node] Error starting action [mr-node]. • Can't setup 3 nodes MongoDB recplica set

    - by Victor Lin
    I just follow instructions in MongoDB document Replica Sets - Basics to setup a 3-node Replica set. Everything goes fine when I do the initiate and add first node in the primary. [foo@host-a mongodb]$ bin/mongo localhost MongoDB shell version: 1.8.2 connecting to: localhost > rs.initiate() { "info2" : "no configuration explicitly specified -- making one", "info" : "Config now saved locally. Should come online in about a minute.", "ok" : 1 } > rs.add("host-b") { "ok" : 1 } So far so good, but when I try to add third node myset:PRIMARY> rs.addArb("host-c") Sun Aug 7 22:57:09 MessagingPort recv() errno:104 Connection reset by peer 127.0.0.1:27017 Sun Aug 7 22:57:09 SocketException: remote: error: 9001 socket exception [1] Sun Aug 7 22:57:09 DBClientCursor::init call() failed Sun Aug 7 22:57:09 query failed : local.$cmd { count: "system.replset", query: {}, fields: {} } to: 127.0.0.1 Sun Aug 7 22:57:09 Error: error doing query: failed shell/collection.js:150 Sun Aug 7 22:57:09 trying reconnect to 127.0.0.1 Sun Aug 7 22:57:09 reconnect 127.0.0.1 ok As result, the current primary became secondary, and the host-b was marked as dead, but actually, it is still alive. myset:SECONDARY> rs.status() { "set" : "myset", "date" : ISODate("2011-08-08T04:03:23Z"), "myState" : 2, "members" : [ { "_id" : 0, "name" : "host-a:27017", "health" : 1, "state" : 2, "stateStr" : "SECONDARY", "optime" : { "t" : 1312775799000, "i" : 1 }, "optimeDate" : ISODate("2011-08-08T03:56:39Z"), "self" : true }, { "_id" : 1, "name" : "host-b", "health" : 0, "state" : 6, "stateStr" : "(not reachable/healthy)", "uptime" : 0, "optime" : { "t" : 0, "i" : 0 }, "optimeDate" : ISODate("1970-01-01T00:00:00Z"), "lastHeartbeat" : ISODate("2011-08-08T04:03:22Z"), "errmsg" : "still initializing" } ], "ok" : 1 } How could this happen? I just follow the guide in the document, did I do something wrong? Moreover, I can't do anything on current secondary server. It doesn't allow me to reconfig on the secondary node, but the problem is there is no primary node. myset:SECONDARY> rs.reconfig({}) { "errmsg" : "replSetReconfig command must be sent to the current replica set primary.", "ok" : 0 } Any ideas?

  • hadoop install cluster

    - by chnet
    Is it possible to run hadoop on multi-node and these nodes install hadoop on different paths? I noticed the tutorial, such as Michael Noll's, http://www.michael-noll.com/tutorials/running-hadoop-on-ubuntu-linux-multi-node-cluster/, asks hadoop to be installed on different nodes with the same installation path. I tried to run hadoop on multi-node. Each node installed hadoop on different path. But not success. I noticed that the hadoop assume installation paths are the same in default.

  • Checkpoint FW-1disk full

    - by krugger
    Hi, The logging filled the disk of the managment node. This cause the firewall nodes to start logging locally. After deleting some old logs, restarting the managment node logging is still being done locally at the firewall nodes. I have already done a fw fetchlogs on all firewall nodes to get the local log entries. How can I tell the firewall nodes that they should once again connect to the managment node? My syslog_servers show doesn't show any syslog servers. But the documentation mentions that this is for additional logging and not for logging between firewall nodes and the managment node.

  • How To Set Up A Loadbalanced High-Availability Apache Cluster On Windows

    - by bReAd
    Setting up a two-node Apache web server cluster that provides high-availability. In front of the Apache cluster we create a load balancer that splits up incoming requests between the two Apache nodes. Because we do not want the load balancer to become another “Single Point Of Failure”, we must provide high-availability for the load balancer, too. Therefore our load balancer will in fact consist out of two load balancer nodes that monitor each other using heartbeat, and if one load balancer fails, the other takes over silently. The following setup is proposed: Apache node 1: webserver1.example.com (webserver1) – IP address: 192.168.0.101; Apache document root: /var/www Apache node 2: webserver2.example.com (webserver2) – IP address: 192.168.0.102; Apache document root: /var/www Load Balancer node 1: loadb1.example.com (loadb1) – IP address: 192.168.0.103 Load Balancer node 2: loadb2.example.com (loadb2) – IP address: 192.168.0.104 Virtual IP Address: 192.168.0.105 (used for incoming requests) Currently, there are many solutions for Linux machines and there aren't any on windows. I've tried searching a long time for solutions on Windows platform How do I create the virtual IP in windows and perform monitoring and make the load balancer listen to the virtual IP Address?

  • Reset Network Load Balancer Connection Pool

    - by bill_the_loser
    I am currently working on load testing a web application on a virtual machine cluster. I am looking for a way to flush the connection pool / NLB cache so that it is like each machine connecting to the NLB is connecting for the first time and doesn't get directed back to the node that it was on last time. This a Windows 2003 Server cluster, behind a Microsoft software based Network Load Balancer. Additional Information: To do the load testing I'm using virtual machines, one for each node on the cluster. Somehow I got two virtual machines connecting to the same node and I'm looking for an easier way to reset those connections without going in to the NLB Manager and stopping and starting each node on the NLB. Update: We went ahead and changed the affinity on all of the nodes of the cluster to none. Now it's a non-issue.

  • debian VM refusing all traffic apart from http

    - by james lewis
    I've got a VM with a fresh install of Debian (wheezy) and I've installed node and mongo on it. The VM is using a bridged network connection so I was expecting to be able to point my host machines browser at the ip address of the Debian VM (port 1337 for my node example or port 28017 for my mongo status page) and see one of the two services (node or mongo). My requests are refused though. As far as I can tell Debian allows all traffic by default and you have to manually configure iptables to drop traffic. I've checked iptables and it says it's setup to allow anything through. It looks like this: root@devbox:/home/jlewis# iptables -L Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT) target prot opt source destination Chain FORWARD (policy ACCEPT) target prot opt source destination Chain OUTPUT (policy ACCEPT) target prot opt source destination As a test I setup nginx and I was able to get to the nginx landing page from my host no problems so obviously http traffic is allowed. I then set nginx up to forward all traffic upstream to mongo - no problems there, I was able to see the status page. I then did the same for my example node server and again, no problems. So http traffic is fine, but all other traffic is blocked. Anyone know why debian might be refusing all other traffic other than iptables being setup to drop it? EDIT - output from netstat -nltp: Active Internet connections (only servers) Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State PID/Program name tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:28017 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 1762/mongod tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:51028 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 1541/rpc.statd tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:22 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 2462/sshd tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:1337 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 2794/node tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:25 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 2274/exim4 tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:27017 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 1762/mongod tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:111 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 1510/rpcbind tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:80 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 2189/nginx tcp6 0 0 :::22 :::* LISTEN 2462/sshd tcp6 0 0 :::45335 :::* LISTEN 1541/rpc.statd tcp6 0 0 ::1:25 :::* LISTEN 2274/exim4 tcp6 0 0 :::111 :::* LISTEN 1510/rpcbind

  • MongoDB ReplicaSet Elections when some nodes are down

    - by SecondThought
    I'm trying to get into ReplicaSet concept, and found something weird in mongoDB Documentation: For a node to be elected primary, it must receive a majority of votes. This is a majority of all votes in the set: if you have a 5-member set and 4 members are down, a majority of the set is still 3 members (floor(5/2)+1). Each member of the set receives a single vote and knows the total number of available votes. If no node can reach a majority, then no primary can be elected and no data can be written to that replica set (although reads to secondaries are still possible). (taken from here) So, If I got that right, in the 5-member case mentioned there the one node that's still standing WILL NOT be chosen as primary and the whole set will not get any writes? and that's even if this single node was the last primary before the elections? If it's true there can be many less-radical cases which will end up with a degenerated set. How can we avoid this?

  • Issue with XSL Criteria

    - by Rachel
    I am using the below piece of XSL to select the id of the text nodes whose content has a given index. This index value in input will be relative to a spcified node whose id value is known. The criteria to select the text node is, The text node content should contain a index say 'i' relative to node say 'n' whose id value i know. 'i' and 'id of n' is got as index and nodeName from the input param as seen in the xsl. Node 'd1e5' has the text content whose index ranges from 1 to 33. When i give an index value greater than 33 i want the below criteria to fail but it does not, [sum((preceding::text(), .)[normalize-space()][. >> //*[@id=$nodeName]]/string-length(.)) ge $index] Input xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" id="d1e1"> <head id="d1e3"> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> <title id="d1e5">Every document must have a title</title> </head> <body id="d1e9"> <h1 id="d1e11" align="center">Very Important Heading</h1> <p id="d1e13">Since this is just a sample, I won't put much text here.</p> </body> </html> XSL code used: <xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" exclude-result-prefixes="xsd" version="2.0"> <xsl:param name="insert-file" as="node()+"> <insert-data><data index="1" nodeName="d1e5"></data><data index="34" nodeName="d1e5"></data></insert-data> </xsl:param> <xsl:param name="nodeName" as="xsd:string" /> <xsl:variable name="main-root" as="document-node()" select="/"/> <xsl:variable name="insert-data" as="element(data)*"> <xsl:for-each select="$insert-file/insert-data/data"> <xsl:sort select="xsd:integer(@index)"/> <xsl:variable name="index" select="xsd:integer(@index)" /> <xsl:variable name="nodeName" select="@nodeName" /> <data text-id="{generate-id($main-root/descendant::text()[sum((preceding::text(), .)[normalize-space()][. >> //*[@id=$nodeName]]/string-length(.)) ge $index][1])}"> </data> </xsl:for-each> </xsl:variable> <xsl:template match="/"> <Output> <xsl:copy-of select="$insert-data" /> </Output> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> Actual output: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <Output> <data text-id="d1t8"/> <data text-id="d1t14"/> </Output> Expected output: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <Output> <data text-id="d1t8"/> </Output> This solution works fine if index lies between 1 and 33. Any index value greater that 33 causes incorrect text nodes to get selected. I could not understand why the text node 'd1t14' is getting selected. Please share your thoughts.

  • Monitoring System for the cloud?

    - by Maxim Veksler
    I need a monitoring system, much like ganglia / nagios that is build for the cloud. I need it to support : Adding / removing nodes dynamically. (Node shuts down, dose not imply node failure...) Dynamic node based categorization, meaning node can identify them self as being part of group X (ganglia gets this almost right, but lacks the dynamic part...) Does not require multicast support (generally not allowed in cloud based setups) Plugins for recent cool stuff such as Hadoop, Cassandra, Mongo would be cool. More features include: External API, web interface and co. I've looked at Ganglia, munin and they both seem be almost there (but not exactly). I would also go for reasonably priced Software as Service solution. I'm currently doing research, so Suggestions are highly appreciated. Thank you, Maxim
