• deploying a simple html website with eclipse EE & tomcat 7 & router for pc not in LAN

  Hello everyone and thanks for your time, first of all - I want to make a note - I can see the website from my own pc which is the only one connected to the (netgear dgn1000) router, and I can do so with several browsers on my pc, but - when I try and do a port forwarding so that I could access this simple html file (which in the way would use a simple servlet class) I can't seem to view it I have configured my router (both the "services" and the "firewall" sections), and I have also changed my LAN properties according to my ISP's explanation (via phone) : instead of choosing the "obtain an IP address automatically" I have chosen the "use the following IP address, with IP address of 10.0.0.1 (this was also set in the router's port forwarding), Subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, default gateway by checking the same value as seen in the cmd when executing the command ipconfig /all after doing so I've changed the DNS to use the address (just the preferred and not the alternate one) given with the ipconfig /all and still - nothing :/ is it something in my network settings or in my deployment of the eclipse/tomcat ? any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks :)

  i have windows 2003 server domain environment in my office. my server ip is: 192.168.1.2 if i put this IP in DNS of my laptop network card my folder SYNC works fine & also internet work fine in office. but internet did't work in my home for that i need to change DNS again to Auto & internet start working again. its too difficult to change cause some time i don't have administrative password. is there any solution to that?   HI all. Here is the scenario. I have port 8888 for my program to use. I build a TCP and a UDP listener on that port. (This can do, c# allows, because they are two different protocols) My question is If the network traffic is very busy, TCP sockets may refuse or signalling the other end to stop sending things, it is called congestion control, right? So if TCP is congestion controlling, other ends may not send more data, in this "TCP quiet period", UDP channel should have not that much of traffic, right? I want to figure out the TCP traffic will affect UDP traffic or not?

  We have a new project for a web app that will display banners ads on websites (as a network) and our estimate is for it to handle 20 to 40 billion impressions a month. Our current language is in ASP...but are moving to PHP. Does PHP 5 has its limit with scaling web application? Or, should I have our team invest in picking up JSP? Or, is it a matter of the app server and/or DB? We plan to use Oracle 10g as the database.

  Dear Network Gurus Before saying anything let me tell you that i am not well educated int networks related subjects. I am a software developer and I have written and exposed a Service on HTTPS at port 8000. Now i want to know that if there is any kind of software that can help me to trace if there is any kind of port blocking from one site to my service location with information of blocker host. I have tried couple of Tracerout software like wintrace but all these uses ICMP protocols and there is no option to provide port number in them. And moreover i like to ad an exception in Firewall for incoming ICMP protocal in windows server 2003 windows firewall but i can't see anyoption to ad protocol in exception instead there are only options to ad a program or ad a port of udp or tcp.   Currently I have my private key saved in a file, private.key, and I use the following function to load it: RSA *r = PEM_read_RSAPrivateKey("private.key", NULL, NULL, NULL); This works perfectly but I'm not happy with the file-based format; I want to save my key in pure binary form (ie, no base64 or similar) in a char* variable and load/save the key from/to it. This way I have much more freedom: I'll be able to store the key directly into the application const char key[] { 0x01, 0x02, ... };, send it over a network socket, etc. Unfortunately though I haven't found a way to do that. The only way to save and load a key I know of reads/saves it to a file directly.

• No Cookies at second Webrequest

  Hello, I write a little Tool in C# with Visual Studio 2008. My Problem: I login to a website by HTTP-webrequest, I get an authentification cookie, thats all ok. Than I make a new HTTP-webrequest and add the cookies from the first request to call the next page where i can see my personal data. I see that the cookies will associated with the second request if I debug it but if I check the network traffic I see that are no Cookies transmitted at the second request. I tried many possibilities to see why i dont work but i found nothing. Does somebody have the same problem or know a solution? (Sorry for bad english)

  I have a delegate method with the following tasks: get something from the internet (ex: some image from a web site); process that image in a certain way; display the result in a subview ; getting the image takes some time, depending on the network's speed so the result of its processing is displayed in the subview after that little while. my problem: during the time between getting the image and showing the result the device looks unresponsive. any attempt to put some spinner, or any other method which is called inside this main procedure has no effect until the result is processed. how should I change this behaviour? I would like to put a big spinner during that waiting time. thank you.

  I am building a C# application that is consuming a WSDL that is hosted by a server on our network. When I use the "Add Web Reference" functionality of Visual Studio, it works just fine, saving the ip address of the machine, etc. and the SOAP calls work without any issue. We are now making this entire application portable so that it can be installed in any environment. We would like to place all of our settings in one configuration file, so my question is this: Is it possible to somehow specify the IP address of the machine that is hosting the SOAP service in my configuration file and link everything dynamically at runtime?

• multiple FileSystemWatchers to monitor files on local system?

  We're writing a text editor like tool for our internal accounting package system that has actions that can be done by our own Xml language specs. These macro commands are specified in Xml files and we need the ability to monitor if files openned have bean modified externally. The only problem is that there maybe 20-30 files with different paths openned at any one time. Would it be good to use multiple FileSystemWatchers for this scenario? Or would it be better to monitor the root drive and catch specific events that match an open file in the editor (though lots of events could be raised). Some are local drives (C,D,E) others are their network drives (U,X,G,H). Files are quite chunky too about 300-400Kb.

• Including the functionality of a tool within another program?

  Hi there I would like to write an application, for my own interest, that graphically visualizes some network concepts. Basically I would like to show the output from tools like ping, traceroute and nmap. The most obvious approach seems to be to use pipes to call out to these tools from my C program, and process the information they return. However, I would like to avoid this heavy-handed approach if possible. My question is, is it possible to somehow link against these tools, or are there APIs that can be used to gain programatic access instead? If so, is this behavior available on a tool-by-tool basis only? One reason for wanting to do this is to keep everything in a single process / address space and to avoid dependance on these external tools. For example, if I wrote an iphone application, I would not be able to spawn processes to call out to the external tools themselves. Thanks for any advice or suggestions.

  I'm getting a 401 (access denied) calling a method on an internal web service. I'm calling it from an ASP.NET page on our company intranet. I've checked all the configuration and it should be using integrated security with an account that has access to that service, but I'm trying to figure out how to confirm which account it's connecting under. Unfortunately I can't debug the code on the production network. In our dev environment everything is working fine. I know there has to be a difference in the settings, but I'm at a loss with where to start. Any recommendations?

• Easier way to move a project in Eclipse

  My projects changes location, and I need to tell Eclipse this. Today I just delete the project and import it from the new location. But I have a lot of projects, they change location often and the paths a very complicated. I'd like a better way to manage this in Eclipse. For example: J:\iteration234_abc\foo\bar\baz\iffle\dizzle\Project Only the root-folder changes (iteration-number and the idenfier "abc"). After that there are lot of folders. Many folders has tons of subfolders with similar names, which makes finding the folder with GUI time-consuming and very boring. It would be so nice if I could just edit the path. As you may have guessed: The J-drive is a network drive, provided by the source control system. The way to tell source control that I'm working on another itertion, is to continue my work in a different folder. My actual Eclipse workspace normally doesn't contain any projects.

  I am using Connector in J2ME and found that sometimes it take a very long time to send a request, and sometime it may halt the whole process. So I try to put code related to Connector in a thread and try to set timeout to the thread. But I found out that it's very difficult to do this in J2ME because there's no join(long) in J2ME. However when I click a link, the server can't load the page and gives this error: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) Any idea?

  Hi I want to create an Iphone app that can display real time video from a camera. The intended setup is. Camera connected to Mac Mini delivering real time video to Iphone over local network.   Is there a way to get a file's mimetype in Flex SDK 3.5 without using its extension? I need to validate if an uploaded file is of a certain kind. This is for images, or documents (PDF, ODT, etc.) All the solutions I've found are by checking its extension. What if I rename a .odt file as a .jpg? Then I can upload it as an image... I should add, we are using an AIR desktop client and a Java EE server. File checking is solved on the Java side, but the idea is not to go to the server, validate the file so if it's not valid, there's no network traffic at all.
