• How to connect to database on remote server

  Where there is VPN to remote server and then access to the database via local network interface, how can one establish a remote link between one's computer (with a programme such as Visual Studio 2010) and SQL Server (e.g. 2008 R2) ? Any attempts to create a direct link to the SQL Server are blocked. Whilst the SQL Server can be configured to allow external access, this provides its own host of problems. Any help would be much appreciated.

• Ubuntu glitches up when i boot it

  I recently installed Ubuntu on an old laptop of mine(HP Compaq Presario v6000), and I am having some problems. I installed everything and followed the guide like it said, but, when I try to boot up from hard drive it displays the desktop, but everything starts to glitch out and I can't click on any applications or scroll over them without it glitching, proceeded by a lock-up. I might re-install it to see if it helps, but if not, you guys got to help me out.

  i have untunt 12.04lts and i wanted to download wine. when i tried it said this: "could not download packages. check your internet connection." but i am connected to the internet. i then went to upgrade my system to ubuntu 12.10 to see if that would work... but no it cant download packages... i can use the internet with firefox. and i have downloaded things before from the software center. • Graphics driver being reported as Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe (LLVM 0x300) instead of intel

  I have an integrated Intel 945GM in a Toshiba laptop. Previously the graphics driver was reported correctly, but at some point it has changed. I've noticed general poor performance and though it should meet minimum requirements for unity 3d is using unity 2d. Under the details panel in system settings it is now reporting Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe (LLVM 0x300). any help would be appreciated. I have searched google for hours trying to find an answer.

• GRUB problem after uninstalling mint

  I've uninstalled Linux Mint 13 today from my netbook. The netbook was running Windows XP and Linux Mint on dual boot. I've deleted the Linux's partition and now whenever I turn on the computer I get "Partitation not found" grub error... I have no CD drive so I can't insert any repair CDs or XP CD. I'm currently hopeless. And now I can't even load Linux Mint from my USB drive... Can someone help me?

Are there jobs out there who only purpose is execution speed and optimisation, or jobs for people to program only in assembly ?   I was wondering what is the general idea about code review and pair programming. I do have my own opinion but I'd like to hear from somebody else as well. Here are a few questions, please give me your opinion even on some of the point First of all are you aware of way to measure the effectiveness of this practices? Do you think that if you pair program, code reviews are not necessary or it's still good to have them both? Do you think anybody can do code review or maybe is better done by seniors only?   I'm trying to install Ubuntu touch to a nexus 4. I've followed all the steps so far, downloaded the packages and gotten the phone ready, but now I got to the step of connecting it to the computer [under 'Enable USB Debugging'], but it's not listed when I try $ adb devices (I tried the 'adb kill-server' command first too, but nothing is listed). I'm sure it's something simple I'm forgetting, but can anyone help please? I have debugging enabled. Running Trusty in VirtualBox on MacBook. Thanks!

  I was trying to replace Zorin OS 8 with ubuntu 14.04 (32 bits). What I have tried: I took an empty pen drive and downloaded Ubuntu 14.04 iso file on to this pen drive. I then restarted my laptop (Lenovo N 3000) and pressed F12 I then selected the USB drive in the boot options. After sometime I got the Zorin flash screen again. I know I am "fundamentally" wrong in the manner how I am executing this installation process. If you could please provide me a stepwise instruction.

• Additional Drivers error installing in Ubuntu 12.04 (wireless internet and software modem)

  I've already search for similar problems but they are so different from mine. these are the drivers http://db.tt/qFZlD5JD I'm having problem with this Additional Drivers once I click the Activate button it will start in downloading and installing but after that it will say Installation failed. Then the "Enable Wireless" will not be available. With the Software Modem issue is the same problem with the Broadcom. These drivers are working on Ubuntu 9 and 11 if I'm not mistaken. Only on 12.04 is not working. One more thing these drivers will enable the Huawei E165g E220. I've already tried other solution for the Huawei to activate but all didn't work. After a restart Enable wireless becomes okay, though. To all Ubuntu experts and masters please I'm begging for help. A million Thank You!.

  I am trying to use the stencil buffer for rendering reflection and am working with SDL and OpenGL. When I give the command SDL_GL_SetAttribute(SDL_GL_STENCIL_SIZE,8),I get a return value of 0 indicating success,but when I try to get the size allocated using SDL_GL_GetAtribute( SDL_GL_STENCIL_SIZE,&i),I get a value of 0 for my stencil buffer due to which I am not getting the desired rendering.   I purchased and downloaded Celtx and I'm having trouble installing it (in Ubuntu 13.04). I'm a Linux newbie (literally had it for four days) so please be kind and don't assume much experience with the command line, I'm still learning. The folder with all related files/packages etc. is under "Downloads" and I have tried several commands to try and install but I'm just not doing it right and would appreciate help with exactly what command(s) to use. • A record point not working

  I'm trying to do an A record point to transfer the hosting of a domain from one provider to another. I don't want to change the nameservers as this will result in emails going down. The output when I dig for the domain shows the correct IP (78.46.63.87) for the new host. I know A records can take a while to propagate but Its been over 36hrs now and I still keep getting this error(below) when I try to pull the domain through as an addon domain via Cpanel on the new host. Are the old nameservers conflicting with the A record point? here's the error: Using nameservers with the following IPs: 208.80.125.4,208.80.126.4,208.80.124.4,208.94.148.4 Sorry, the domain is already pointed to an IP address that does not appear to use DNS servers associated with this server. Please transfer the domain to this servers nameservers or have your administrator add one of its nameservers to /etc/ips.remotedns and make the proper A entries on that remote nameserver.

The JSR 236's, a.k.a Concurrency Utilities for Java EE, goal was to extend that support to the Java EE platform by adding asynchronous abilities to different application components. The EG was however stagnant since Dec 2003. Its coming back to life with the co-spec lead Anthony Lai's message to the JSR 236 EG (archived here).
