Mapping drives on MacOSX (Leopard/Snow Leopard) permanently inside LAN

Hi, How do I "map" shared folders on a Mac, permanently? With map, I do not mean 'connect', but permanently add it to the system so it exists after reboot. Since workstations tend to shutdown, I wonder also the symptoms and cures in case that happens. In Linux, this can be done using the fstab file, but I noticed that volumes are mounted in a different structure than Linux. I need this to backup some workstations, doing a recursive job over a single directory, that should contain the shared folders. I use Terminal to access the main system, so by preference, the solution would be nice that works within a bash shell vs GUI. I can access all folders in Finder. Thanks!

How do I name the methods in WCF Service and Main Class Lib1? 2. Do I have to go with any specific pattern for ease development and maintenance? 3. Do I have to have different endpoints for different version? In the above example I have a method named “SaveProfile”. Do I have to name the methods like “SaveProfile1.0”, “SaveProfile2.0”, etc. If that is the case when there is no change between Version “3.0” and “4.0” then there will difficult in maintenance. I’m looking for a approach that will help in ease maintenance

I used psubst drive1: drive2:path /P to create the persistent virtual drive, I found that's greate, but when I delete files in those drives, they didn't appeared in the Recycle Bin, so How can I restore them? ex: I used (p)subst K: C:/1 to create the K: driver, then I delete files in the K:, I think it will be better if they are moved to the C:/Recycle Bin but not delete persistently. you can find more detail about psubst here: http://code.google.com/p/psubst/

HP LasterJet P2035 not mapping on remote desktop

I am connecting from a Windows 7 Pro laptop to a remote 64bit Windows 2008 R2 server via Remote Desktop. My local laptop has a networked HP LaserJet P2035 printer set as the default printer. When I connect to the server, the local (networked) HP printer does not get mapped on the server. I've installed the 64bit drivers from HP for the printer and was able to create a test printer on the server itself using the correct driver (HP LaserJet P2035) priting to a file. I've also checked the Printer under Local Resources tab on my Remote Desktop client. Does anyone know where else I should check to get my local printer to make to my remote desktop session?

Google Webmaster Tools Index Status is 0 but sitemap URL shows indexed

I've added my site to Google Webmaster tools www.medexpress.co.uk. The site was submitted a few weeks ago. The index status shows 0 but it shows 6 URLs have been indexed in the sitemaps section. If I search in google I can see that the site is indexed and several pages appear: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=site%3Awww.medexpress.co.uk&oq=site%3Awww.medexpress.co.uk&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 My question is why is the index status 0 when the sitemap section shows several indexed pages and also the pages appear in the search engine.

mapping server 2008 network drive to vista home premium x64

Hi, We have a windows server 2008 box at my work place. I want to map a drive from the server to my laptop. I use windows vista home premium x64. I am connected to my workplace through VPN. i can map the drive when I use the administrator account on the server. But the log on is unsuccessful if I use my personal account on the server to map the drive. My personal account on the server is part of Administrators group. Can any one help me with this?

How to interpret number of URL errors in Google webmaster tools

Recently Google has made some changes to Webmaster tools which are explained below: http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2012/03/crawl-errors-next-generation.html One thing I could not find out is how to interpret the number of errors over time. At the end of February we've recently migrated our website and didn't implement redirect rules for some pages (quite a few actually). Here is what we're getting from the Crawl errors: What I don't know is if the number of errors is cumulative over time or not (i.e. if Google bots crawl your website on 2 different days and find 1 separate issue on each day, whether they will report 1 error for each day, or 1 for the 1st, and 2 for the 2nd). Based on the Crawl stats we can see that the number of requests made by Google bots doesn't increase: Therefore I believe the number of errors reported is cumulative and that an error detected on 1 day is taken into account and reported on the subsequent days until the underlying problem is fixed and the page it's crawled again (or if you manually Mark as fixed the error) because if you don't make more requests to a website, there is no way you can check new pages and old pages at the same time. Q: Am I interpreting the number of errors correctly?

Keyboard mapping issue in Virtualbox on Mac OS

I run Windows 7 as a VM in VirtualBox on my MacBook Air (using OS X 10.7). If I do not shutdown the VM but save its machine state. The keyboard will behave strangely after resuming. It seems the Windows Logo key is always hold. When I type the key 'u', the Control Panel will be shown. I tested on a real Windows 7, the same dialog will be shown when I press Win-key and 'u'. When I type the key 'e', the Explorer will show up, some as press Win-key and 'e' on a real Windows 7. If I click 'Restart' from the Start menu of Windows 7, after restarting the VM, the keyboard works again. I think there are some conflicts with keyboard driver in VM. It is quite annoying, usually I usually close a VM by saving its machine state, not shut the OS down. Is there any way to solve this problem?

Asked by many of my colleagues often enough, I decided to take the plunge and begin blogging. After many attempts to start and long discussions about what I should write about, I decided to give my “buddies” a series of lessons and tidbits to help them understand what it takes to manage a software development project in the real world. Stories of success and failure to keep hope alive. I am formally trained as a developer (BS/CS) and have scattered my code throughout the matrix since 1985 (officially working for the man). As I moved from job-to-job over my career, I have had good managers, bad ones, and ones who were – well, just sitting in the corner office. It wasn't until I began the transition and commitment to the role of project management that I began to take real software development management seriously. A boss once told me “put down the code. Start managing the people and process.” That was a scary time in my career. I loved solving really cool problems with a blank sheet of paper. It was an adrenaline rush to get an opportunity to start from scratch and write an application solution people would actually use and help them in their work/business. I felt that moving into “management” would remove me from the thrill and ownership I felt as a developer. It was a hard step to take, and one which I believe is hard for any developer. Well, I am here to help you through this transition. For those of you wanting to read my stories or learn about the tools and techniques I use on a daily basis, you too might just learn something you would have never thought of as an architect/developer. I am currently a Sr. Consultant at Magenic with the Boston branch office and primarily work with clients in the New England area. Best way to let users choose country/language when submiting an URL to a directory

Hi all, I want to offer the user the possibility to add the country/language for websites they would submit to a fairly simple website directory. I have a folder with flags from http://www.famfamfam.com/lab/icons/flags/ . The flag images are named according to the ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country codes, meaning that I could make a PHP script that would be able to retrieve images and the name of the country retrieved from the image name (not the full name, but it wouldn't be necessary). Just to make things clearer, I couldn't find a proper combo-box jQuery plugin for my needs (that would act exactly like the native but with an icon before the text) and don't really have the time to develop one on my own. Considering the number of images, I also wouldn't just display them all with a radio box near them. Also, having a classic drop-down list would be a nightmare for me as I would have to assign the short country name manually to each entry, or do it once for every country. Offering the user a dropdown list with the short country names but no flag near them would also be unfriendly and confusing. The idea is that every website featured in the directory would have the country flag icon near it. I have the images named properly but I don't know how to let the user choose the right image for their website. Any idees? Thank you all in advance! Mapping Wordpress.com to subdomain or path

According to this and this, Wordpress.com blogs can be mapped to a custom domain (e.g.: example.com). However, I don't see anything that says it can be mapped to a subdomain (e.g.: blog.example.com) or a path within a domain (e.g.: example.com/blog). Does anyone have any experience with this to definitively say whether this is possible?

SEO: Single URL rewrite from one app to another

I have two web applications running on two different servers. I want one, example.com/hello, to redirect to the second, hello.com. But I want both to contribute to each other's SEO ranking. What is the best way to accomplish this primarily for google search and for other search engines? I currently do a rewrite with permanent from example.com/hello to hello.com using nginx. Rankings dropping after small URL-change WITH 301-redirect

Two weeks ago, we attempted to make the URLs of ca. 12 pages more search-engine friendly. We changed three things. 1. Make URLs more SEF from: /????-????/brandname.html (meaning: /aircon-price/daikin.html to: /????-brandnameinenglish-brandnameinthai.html We set up 301-redirects from the old to the new URLs. You can find an example and the link to our page here: http://bit.ly/XRoTOK There are no direct external links to the old URLs. 2. Added text to img-links from homepage to brand-pages Before those changes, we only linked to those brands with a picture, so we added some text under the picture. You can see that here, in the left submenu: http://bit.ly/XRpfoF 3. Minor changes to Title, h1-Tags, Meta Description, etc. Only minor changes, to better match the on-site optimization with targeted keywords. For example, before we used full brand names, after we used what was really searched for: from: Mitsubishi Electric Mr. Slim to: ???? Mitsubishi (means: Aircon Mitsubishi) Three days after these changes, we noticed a heavy drop (80% loss in non-paid search traffic) in rankings and traffic for those pages, and also for all pages which are sub-categorized. Rankings for all keywords not affected by the changes stayed the same. Any ideas, what happened, and how we can regain our old rankings? What we already did, was submitting a new sitemap. Title of the page in search results and title of google's cached version are different. Why?

Check this: http://www.google.com/search?q=site:gunlawsbystate.com+kansas+gun+laws The title of the first result is "Kansas Gun Laws - Gun Laws By State". Although, on the page google has cached the title is different: <title>Kansas Gun Laws - Kansas Gun Law - Reciprocity Guide</title> Google shows the title that has been on the site 2-3 months ago. Google bot has visited the website a lot of times since that, and as you see it even cached it (the latest version is of 15th Sept), however for some reason it doesn't change the title to the new one in the search results. We use hash-bang URL structure on this website. It completely meets google's requirements for AJAX websites (_escaped_fragment_ stuff). The issue I explained is happening with almost all hash-bang pages that got indexed. Questions: Why does it keep old page title in the search results? Can it be connected to the fact that I'm using hash-bang URLs? There are lots of pages on the site that have the same issue, all of them have hash-bang URLs. Another thing I noticed is that Google's "Preview" feature doesn't work for any hash-bang URLs on the site. Did I do anything wrong? It has got cached versions of the pages, why wouldn't it generate a preview? Thanks (and sorry for my English) PS. Here's a weird thing I also noticed: this search query https://www.google.com/search?q=Kansas+Gun+Laws+-+Reciprocity+Guide shows the correct title for the same page as in the example above. Why does google show different titles for the same page when you run different queries?

VMWare Raw Device Mapping Not Working

While I'm waiting for VMWare support to get back to me, I thought I'd ask here. I have a 400 gig LUN presented from a fiber channel SAN to my VMWare host. It's legacy from another virtualization platform and I need to keep it as is to avoid a long period of downtime. I formatted my VMFS3 datastore with 4 meg blocks to allow up to 1 TB disks. Then I tried adding my 400 gig disk as a raw device in physical compatibility mode. I get the error: "File is larger than the maximum size supported by datastore 'Base Test'. [Base Test]VMTEST01/VMTEST01_2.vmdk Originally I had the VMFS datastore formatted with 1 meg blocks which was the cause of this problem since the largest disk allowed would be 256 gigs. But I deleted the data store and then reformatted with 4 megs blocks. I've also tried using virtual compatibility mode for the raw device but it still fails. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've been waiting for a little over a week for VMWare, but that's fine because I'm not yet a paying customer. I'm still in the eval phase.

I have checked with the host, they say all is well on their side. How can we fix it? The site also went off from Google Search. We are about to rebuild this site to a better professional platform but first we would like to have an idea of what happened and how to fix it.

Having trouble mapping Sharepoint document library as a Network Place

I am using Office 365, Sharepoint Online 2013. Using Internet Explorer these are the steps I have taken: ticked the keep me signed in on the portal.microsoftonline.com page. It redirects me to Godaddy login page because Office 365 was purchased through them. I have added these sites to trusted sites (as well as every page in the process) and chose auto logon in Internet explorer. Once on the document library I open as explorer and copy the address as text. I go to My Computer and right click to add a network place and paste in the document library address. It successfully adds the library as a network place 30% of the time. I can do this same process 3 times in a row and it will fail the first 2 times and then succeeds. It works for a little while and then I get an error that the DNS cannot be found. I need multiple users in our organization to be able to access this document library as if it was a mapped network drive on our local network. Is there an easier way to do this? I may just sync using the One Drive app but thought that direct access to the files without worrying about users keeping their files synced.

This URL has been identified as a phishing site and is currently involved in identity theft activities. URL: hxxp://111.11.111.111/www.connet-itunes.fr/iTunesConnect.woasp/ //IP is modified (not real) This site is being used to display false or spoofed content in an apparent effort to steal personal and financial information. This matter is URGENT. We believe that individuals are being falsely directed to this page and may be persuaded into divulging personal information to a criminal, if the content is not immediately disabled. Trying to understand. Some hacker hacked VPS, placed some file (?) with content that redirects to www.connet-itunes.fr/iTunesConnect.woasp? Then questions 1) how can I find the file? Where it may be located? url is URL: hxxp://111.11.111.111/ IP address, not domain name 2) What to do to protect VPS (with CentOS)? Any tutorial? Where may be security problem? I mean may be someone faced something similar....

List Squid's internal ip:port to external ip:port mapping table

I'm assuming that squid keeps a list of internal ip:port that a request is made on and the matching external ip:port that the request is fulfilled with. In the case of a long transfer, such as a file download, it would be nice to be able to see which internal ip:port is downloading the file. I am able to see the traffic and get the external ip:port that squid is using easily with tcpdump or iptraf but I can't find a way to map this back to an internal ip:port.

But when we are in another page like domain.tld/my-page, how do we generate the URLs to match the current page but with another subdomain/language using PHP

Redirect cPanel url to something different

I have masterdomain.com which is the domain that hosts other domains. On cPanel normally you can get to the actual cPanel by visiting cpanel.hosteddomainA.com, hosteddomainA.com/cpanel or hosteddomainA.com:2082 What I would like to accomplish is to have the hosteddomains cPanel auto redirect to something like my.masterdomain.com:2082 . Doing this would allow me to adequately throw an SSL cert in my. and really offer a secure experience to my users. I know it's possible because bluehost does the same. They redirect to my.bluehost.com. Can anyone think of how to do it?
