I have a string in my XSLT file that I can display like this: <xsl:value-of select="@Description/> and it shows up, rendered in a browser like: <div>My text has html entities within it</div> <div>This includes quotes, like &quot;Hello World&quot; and sometimes whitespaces.&nbsp;</div> What can I do to get this string rendered as html, so that <div></div> results in newlines, &quot; gives me ", and &nbsp gives me a space? I could elaborate on things I've already tried that haven't worked, but I don't know if that's relevant.

  How do I get a list of all index & index columns in SQL Server 2005+? • Best Zend Framework architecture for large reporting site?

  I have a site of about 60 tabular report pages. Want to convert this to Zend. The report has two states: empty report and filled in with data report. Each report has its own set of input boxes and select drop downs to narrow down searches. You click on submit and it retrieves the data. Thats all each page does. Do I create 60 controllers with each one with default index action and getData action? All I have read online do not really describe how to architect a real site.

• Best implementation for MySQL replication with Rails 3?

  We're looking at potentially setting up replication for our primary MySQL database, and while setting up the replication seems pretty straight-forward, the application implementation seems a bit murkier. My first idea would be to set up a master-slave configuration and RW-splitting, with all write queries (CREATE, INSERT, UPDATE) going to master, and all read queries (SELECT) going to slave. Having read up on it, it seems that there are essentially two options for how to implement this with our app: Using an independent middleware layer for all MySQL connections, such as MySQL proxy or DBSlayer. However, the former is in Alpha and the latter has limited documentation. Using a Ruby-based gem/plugin, such as Octopus to achieve RW-splitting in the framework. If we wanted to go with a master-slave setup, what you recommend moving forward? The other thought I've had was to use a master-master configuration, but am unsure about the implementation of such a setup. Thoughts?

  I have been asked to create import functionality in my application. I am getting an excel worksheet as input. The worksheet has column headers followed by data. The users want to simply select an xls file from their system, click upload and the tool deletes the table in the database and adds this new data. I thought the best way would be too bring the data into a datatable object and do a foeach for every row in the datatable insert row by row into the db. My question is what can anyone give me code to open an excel file, know what line the data starts on in the file, and import the data into a datable object?

• TStringGrid with BOTH editing AND range selection?

  Question: Can anyone point to an article or code samples anywhere on how to provide BOTH editing AND range selection in a TStringGrid? Yes, I KNOW there are third-party grids that do this, but it's frustrating that the built-in grid lacks this basic capability. Background: It's pretty normal to expect to be able to both edit a cell in a grid, and also to select a range of cells such as for a Copy operation. As delivered, TStringGrid doesn't do that. It's either/or. In fact, the docs tell us about the grid Options, "When goEditing is included in Options, goRangeSelect has no effect". However, it looks like it may be possible to do editing and rangeselects in a TStringGrid anyway!!! Through careful use of the mousedown, mouseup, selectcell and exit events, you can get dang close by switching editing elements on and off at the right times. But I still don't have it perfect, and that only covers mouse use, not keyboard changes.

• Login time out when calling opening a new window from modal popup (ASP.NET)

  I have a weird problem. I have a window, on a button click I open a modal popup (using ModelPopupExtender), that let's you select a few criteria and then click a submit button. On click of submit button, I open a new window (using window.open()) that shows the status of what happened to your submitted request. However, every time this status window is opened, it goes to the login page. I am thinking the modal popup can't pass the authentication cookie to the newly opened window, but I'm not sure.   Can someone tell me, when you for example update, insert, delete.. should you then close it like $stmt->close(); ? i checked php manual and don't understand what close() actually does. EXAMPLE: $stmt = $dbh->prepare("SELECT `user_email` FROM `users` WHERE `user_email` = ? LIMIT 1"); $stmt->execute(array($email)); $stmt->close(); Next part of my question is, if as an example i had multiple update queries in a transaction after every execute() for each query i am executing should i close them individually ? ... because it's a transaction not sure i need to use $stmt->close(); after each execute(); or just use one $stmt->close(); after all of them ? • Rails and image gallery: how to make it flexible?

  Hy! In my app, every profile has a gallery and this gallery has images. They can have 1 or 1000 images, so when i show up the gallery i only need a part of the images, let's say 12 images. Then in my ajax gallery when, someone requests more images are loaded. This gallery is SEO, so, the main url is: "/profile-url/" and then, there are these urls too: "/profile-url/images/1" that loads the image with the id=1 in the database. The gallery have to show only 6 images per stack, so When i request the page with the image.id=64, only have to show from 60 to 72, and to select the 64, that is done with js. how may i add a request like this? and how to order them? thanks

• Netbeans 7.2 won't open on OS X

  I installed Netbeans on OSX Mountain Lion running JDK 7. Everything was working fine. Then my machine for no reason crashed. After this I could no longer open Netbeans anymore. If I try to start Netbeans from the commandline: /Applications/NetBeans/NetBeans 7.2.app/Contents/MacOS/netbeans Then it works fine. From there I can select Netbeans About and confirm that my userdir and cachedir is: User directory: /Users/<user>/Library/Application Support/NetBeans/7.2 Cache directory: /Users/<user>/Library/Caches/NetBeans/7.2 So, I deleted these directories and tried again, but alas, I can only start netbeans via the commandline. Ideas appreciated...

• c++ webservice having problems with Mozilla Firefox browser

  Hi , About Problem:- We have a webservice written in c++.And we use cgi scripts in HTML pages to run our own exe which will output HTML. With IE i am not seeing any problem. But With Mozilla FireFox 3.0 there is error showing up as " You have chosen to open gefebt.exe which is a : Application from http:\3.212.219.180\test Would you like to save this file" Also i did some investigation :- i have created a virtual directory using IIS where when i click hyperlink i have made gefebt.exe to execute. With IIS there is no problem untill Execute Permissions is set to "Scripts and Executables" . If i select scripts i could see the same message in IE and mozilla plugin. At the same time i not seeing any difference with the code of Webservice. The way we are reffering the executable in HTML is href=gefebt.exe?xyz.bclInvoke xyz.bcl - I have also tries with IFrames and frames .

• Transaction issue in java with hibernate - latest entries not pulled from database

  Hi, I'm having what seems to be a transactional issue in my application. I'm using Java 1.6 and Hibernate 3.2.5. My application runs a monthly process where it creates billing entries for a every user in the database based on their monthly activity. These billing entries are then used to create Monthly Bill object. The process is: Get users who have activity in the past month Create the relevant billing entries for each user Get the set of billing entries that we've just created Create a Monthly Bill based on these entries Everything works fine until Step 3 above. The Billing Entries are correctly created (I can see them in the database if I add a breakpoint after the Billing Entry creation method), but they are not pulled out of the database. As a result, an incorrect Monthly Bill is generated. If I run the code again (without clearing out the database), new Billing Entries are created and Step 3 pulls out the entries created in the first run (but not the second run). This, to me, is very confusing.   Hey guys I find it hard to believe that Facebook uses simple sql, surely it would use some other method but lets assume for now it does use sql how would the code assimilating the 'wall' work? Lets say that there is three tables (just for the example) Friends: id (entry key) - uid(your id) - fid (your mates' id) Wall:id (entry key) - username - comment - time - commentcount comments: id (entry key) - wid (wall id (original comment)) - reply - time Lets forget about the like part and report etc, as well as mod things (ip, ban etc.) How would this work? Select wall.id, wall.username, wall.comment, wall.time, wall.commentcount, comments.wid, comments.reply, comments.time FROM wall inner join comments ON wall.id=comments.wid ORDER BY wall.time; That's your own wall but how do they get friend's? A heap of unions?

  Hi I'm really struggling with this query. I have 4 tables (http://oberto.co.nz/db-sql.png): Invoice_Payement, Invoice, Client and Calendar. I'm trying to create a report by summing up the 'paid_amount' col, in Invoice_Payment, by month/year. The query needs to include all months, even those with no data There query needs the condition (Invoice table): registered_id = [id] I have tried with the below query, which works, but falls short when 'paid_date' does not have any records for a month. The outcome is that month does not show in the results I added a Calendar table to resolved this but not sure how to left join to it. SELECT MONTHNAME(Invoice_Payments.date_paid) as month, SUM(Invoice_Payments.paid_amount) AS total FROM Invoice, Client, Invoice_Payments WHERE Client.registered_id = 1 AND Client.id = Invoice.client_id And Invoice.id = Invoice_Payments.invoice_id AND date_paid IS NOT NULL GROUP BY YEAR(Invoice_Payments.date_paid), MONTH(Invoice_Payments.date_paid) Please see the above link for a basic ERD diagram of my scenario. • Windows Phone 7: Using Pinch Gestures For Pinch and As A Secondary Drag Gesture

  I am using the drag gesture to move elements on a canvas. I am using the pinch gesture to zoom/tranlate the size of the canvas. What I want to do now is move the entire canvas based on the movement of both fingers in a pinch. I know I can do this with the move, but I need that for items on the canvas itself, and sometimes the entire canvas is covered with items that would make it so you could not select the canvas to move it. Is this possible with the PinchGestureEventArgs?

  Hi All I have what I consider to be a pretty unique problem here, and no idea how to implement. From what I've seen, there is no documentation, tutorials, samples and/or articles on this. I've spent weeks researching, with nothing to show. The problem: I need the user to be able to select the contents of a Label Control at runtime, and edit it. If this can be done by extending the existing Label control, great! Or, if this requires a whole new Label Control to be created, fine. So be it. Using a TextBox is not an option I'm afraid. When there occurs error during execution, I want to raise error and cancel action that cause trigger execution, but not to lose log records. What is the best way to achieve this? Now my trigger logs everything except situation when there is error - because of ROLLBACK. RAISERROR statement is needed in order to inform calling program about error.
