  • web.xml not reloading in tomcat even after stop/start

    - by ajay
    This is in relation to:- http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2576514/basic-tomcat-servlet-error I changed my web.xml file, did ant compile , all, /etc/init.d/tomcat stop , start Even then my web.xml file in tomcat deployment is still unchanged. This is build.properties file:- app.name=hello catalina.home=/usr/local/tomcat manager.username=admin manager.password=admin This is my build.xml file. Is there something wrong with this:- <!-- Licensed to the Apache Software Foundation (ASF) under one or more contributor license agreements. • MSBuild: convert relative path in imported project to absolute path.

    - by Ergwun
    Short version: I have an MSBuild project that imports another project. There is a property holding a relative path in the imported project that is relative to the location of the imported project. How do I convert this relative path to be absolute? I've tried the ConvertToAbsolutePath task, but this makes it relative to the importing project's location). Long version: I'm trying out Robert Koritnik's MSBuild task for integrating nunit output into Visual Studio (see this other SO question for a link). Since I like to have all my tools under version control, I want the target file with the custom task in it to point to the nunit console application using a relative path. My problem is that this relative path ends up being made relative to the importing project. E.g. (in ... MyRepository\Third Party\NUnit\MSBuild.NUnit.Task.Source\bin\Release\MSBuild.NUnit.Task.Targets): ... <PropertyGroup Condition="'$(NUnitConsoleToolPath)' == ''"> <NUnitConsoleToolPath>..\..\..\NUnit 2.5.5\bin\net-2.0</> </PropertyGroup> ... <Target Name="IntegratedTest"> <NUnitIntegrated TreatFailedTestsAsErrors="$(NUnitTreatFailedTestsAsErrors)" AssemblyName="$(AssemblyName)" OutputPath="$(OutputPath)" ConsoleToolPath="$(NUnitConsoleToolPath)" ConsoleTool="$(NUnitConsoleTool)" /> </Target> ... The above target fails with the error that the file cannot be found (that is the nunit-console.exe file). Inside the NUnitIntegrated MSBuild task, when the the execute() method is called, the current directory is the directory of the importing project, so relative paths will point to the wrong location. I tried to convert the relative path to absolute by adding these tasks to the IntegratedTest target: <ConvertToAbsolutePath Paths="$(NUnitConsoleToolPath)"> <Output TaskParameter="AbsolutePaths" PropertyName="AbsoluteNUnitConsoleToolPath"/> </ConvertToAbsolutePath> but this just converted it to be relative to the directory of the project file that imports this target file. I know I can use the property $(MSBuildProjectDirectory) to get the directory of the importing project, but can't find any equivalent for directory of the imported target file. Can anyone tell me how a path in an imported file that is supposed to be relative to the directory that the imported file is in can be made absolute? Thanks!

  • C# Bind DataTable to Existing DataGridView Column Definitions

    - by Timothy
    I've been struggling with a NullReferenceException and hope someone here will be able to point me in the right direction. I'm trying to create and populate a DataTable and then show the results in a DataGridView control. The basic code follows, and Execution stops with a NullReferenceException at the point where I invoke the new UpdateResults_Delegate. Oddly enough, I can trace entries.Rows.Count successfully before I return it from QueryEventEntries, so I can at least show 1) entries is not a null reference, and 2) the DataTable contains rows of data. I know I have to be doing something wrong, but I just don't know what. private void UpdateResults(DataTable entries) { dataGridView.DataSource = entries; } private void button_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { PerformQuery(); } private void PerformQuery() { DateTime start = new DateTime(dateTimePicker1.Value.Year, dateTimePicker1.Value.Month, dateTimePicker1.Value.Day, 0, 0, 0); DateTime stop = new DateTime(dateTimePicker2.Value.Year, dateTimePicker2.Value.Month, dateTimePicker2.Value.Day, 0, 0, 0); DataTable entries = QueryEventEntries(start, stop); UpdateResults(entries); } private DataTable QueryEventEntries(DateTime start, DateTime stop) { DataTable entries = new DataTable(); entries.Columns.AddRange(new DataColumn[] { new DataColumn("event_type", typeof(Int32)), new DataColumn("event_time", typeof(DateTime)), new DataColumn("event_detail", typeof(String))}); using (SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection(DSN)) { using (SqlDataAdapter adapter = new SqlDataAdapter( "SELECT event_type, event_time, event_detail FROM event_log " + "WHERE event_time >= @start AND event_time <= @stop", conn)) { adapter.SelectCommand.Parameters.AddRange(new Object[] { new SqlParameter("@start", start), new SqlParameter("@stop", stop)}); adapter.Fill(entries); } } return entries; } Update I'd like to summarize and provide some additional information I've learned from the discussion here and debugging efforts since I originally posted this question. I am refactoring old code that retrieved records from a database, collected those records as an array, and then later iterated through the array to populate a DataGridView row by row. Threading was originally implemented to compensate and keep the UI responsive during the unnecessary looping. I have since stripped out Thread/Invoke; everything now occurs on the same execution thread (thank you, Sam). I am attempting to replace the slow, unwieldy approach using a DataTable which I can fill with a DataAdapter, and assign to the DataGridView through it's DataSource property (above code updated). I've iterated through the entries DataTable's rows to verify the table contains the expected data before assigning it as the DataGridView's DataSource. foreach (DataRow row in entries.Rows) { System.Diagnostics.Trace.WriteLine( String.Format("{0} {1} {2}", row[0], row[1], row[2])); } One of the column of the DataGridView is a custom DataGridViewColumn to stylize the event_type value. I apologize I didn't mention this before in the original post but I wasn't aware it was important to my problem. I have converted this column temporarily to a standard DataGridViewTextBoxColumn control and am no longer experiencing the Exception. The fields in the DataTable are appended to the list of fields that have been pre-specified in Design view of the DataGridView. The records' values are being populated in these appended fields. When the run time attempts to render the cell a null value is provided (as the value that should be rendered is done so a couple columns over). In light of this, I am re-titling and re-tagging the question. I would still appreciate it if others who have experienced this can instruct me on how to go about binding the DataTable to the existing column definitions of the DataGridView.

  • Eclipse wont open Android Xml files

    I'm just starting with Android and everything seems to be working fine, but when I try to look at any XML file in eclipse, I get the following error. • AutoMapper recursive

    - by fra
    Hi! I would like to make a deep copy of a complex object tree using AutoMapper. The problem is that for each member I would like to construct a new object and then map it, and not simply copying the existing one. Here it is an example: public abstract class Test { public Test() { this.Id = Guid.NewGuid(); } public Guid Id { get; private set; } } public class OuterTest : Test { public InnerTest Inner { get; set; } } public class InnerTest : Test { public int Value { get; set; } } and how to test it: OuterTest outerDest = Mapper.Map<OuterTest, OuterTest>(outerSource); System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine("InnerSource id: " + innerSource.Id); System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine("InnerSource value: " + innerSource.Value); System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine("OuterSource id: " + outerSource.Id); System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine("OuterDest id: " + outerDest.Id); System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine("OuterDest.Inner id: " + outerDest.Inner.Id); System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine("OuterDest.Inner value: " + outerDest.Inner.Value); This is the result from the output window: InnerSource id: a60fda37-206a-40a8-a7f8-db480149c906 InnerSource value: 2119686684 OuterSource id: 7486899e-2da8-4873-9160-d6096b555c73 OuterDest id: 7486899e-2da8-4873-9160-d6096b555c73 OuterDest.Inner id: a60fda37-206a-40a8-a7f8-db480149c906 OuterDest.Inner value: 2119686684 The problem is thet the object innerSource is always the same instance as outerDest.Inner (I verified through MakeObjectId of VS debugger) but I would like them to be two different instances. How could I create a recursive map with this behavior? I tried creating a custom IValueResolver like the following, without success. public class AutoMapperNewObjectResolver : IValueResolver { public ResolutionResult Resolve(ResolutionResult source) { object resolved; if (source.Value != null) { object instance = Activator.CreateInstance(source.MemberType); resolved = Mapper.Map(source.Value, instance, source.MemberType, source.MemberType); } else { resolved = null; } ResolutionResult result = source.New(resolved, source.Context.DestinationType); return result; } } and configured like this: Mapper.CreateMap<OuterTest, OuterTest>() .ForMember(d => d.Inner, o => o.ResolveUsing<AutoMapperNewObjectResolver>().FromMember(src => src.Inner)); Any help appreciated, thank you

  • How to fix basicHttpBinding in WCF when using multiple proxy clients?

    - by Hemant
    [Question seems a little long but please have patience. It has sample source to explain the problem.] Consider following code which is essentially a WCF host: [ServiceContract (Namespace = "http://www.mightycalc.com")] interface ICalculator { [OperationContract] int Add (int aNum1, int aNum2); } [ServiceBehavior (InstanceContextMode = InstanceContextMode.PerCall)] class Calculator: ICalculator { public int Add (int aNum1, int aNum2) { Thread.Sleep (2000); //Simulate a lengthy operation return aNum1 + aNum2; } } class Program { static void Main (string[] args) { try { using (var serviceHost = new ServiceHost (typeof (Calculator))) { var httpBinding = new BasicHttpBinding (BasicHttpSecurityMode.None); serviceHost.AddServiceEndpoint (typeof (ICalculator), httpBinding, "http://172.16.9.191:2221/calc"); serviceHost.Open (); Console.WriteLine ("Service is running. ENJOY!!!"); Console.WriteLine ("Type 'stop' and hit enter to stop the service."); Console.ReadLine (); if (serviceHost.State == CommunicationState.Opened) serviceHost.Close (); } } catch (Exception e) { Console.WriteLine (e); Console.ReadLine (); } } } Also the WCF client program is: class Program { static int COUNT = 0; static Timer timer = null; static void Main (string[] args) { var threads = new Thread[10]; for (int i = 0; i < threads.Length; i++) { threads[i] = new Thread (Calculate); threads[i].Start (null); } timer = new Timer (o => Console.WriteLine ("Count: {0}", COUNT), null, 1000, 1000); Console.ReadLine (); timer.Dispose (); } static void Calculate (object state) { var c = new CalculatorClient ("BasicHttpBinding_ICalculator"); c.Open (); while (true) { try { var sum = c.Add (2, 3); Interlocked.Increment (ref COUNT); } catch (Exception ex) { Console.WriteLine ("Error on thread {0}: {1}", Thread.CurrentThread.Name, ex.GetType ()); break; } } c.Close (); } } Basically, I am creating 10 proxy clients and then repeatedly calling Add service method on separate threads. Now if I run both applications and observe opened TCP connections using netstat, I find that: If both client and server are running on same machine, number of tcp connections are equal to number of proxy objects. It means all requests are being served in parallel. Which is good. If I run server on a separate machine, I observed that maximum 2 TCP connections are opened regardless of the number of proxy objects I create. Only 2 requests run in parallel. It hurts the processing speed badly. If I switch to net.tcp binding, everything works fine (a separate TCP connection for each proxy object even if they are running on different machines). I am very confused and unable to make the basicHttpBinding use more TCP connections. I know it is a long question, but please help!

  • Objective-C NSMutableArray Count Causes EXC_BAD_ACCESS

    - by JoshEH
    I've been stuck on this for days and each time I come back to it I keep making my code more and more confusing to myself, lol. Here's what I'm trying to do. I have table list of charges, I tap on one and brings up a model view with charge details. Now when the model is presented a object is created to fetch a XML list of users and parses it and returns a NSMutableArray via a custom delegate. I then have a button that presents a picker popover, when the popover view is called the user array is used in an initWithArray call to the popover view. I know the data in the array is right, but when [pickerUsers count] is called I get an EXC_BAD_ACCESS. I assume it's a memory/ownership issue but nothing seems to help. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • TemplateBinding with Converter - what is wrong?

    - by MartyIX
    I'm creating a game desk. I wanted to specify field size (one field is a square) as a attached property and with this data set value of ViewPort which would draw 2x2 matrix (and tile mode would do the rest of game desk). I'm quite at loss what is wrong because the binding doesn't work. Testing line in XAML for the behaviour I would like to have: <DrawingBrush Viewport="0,0,100,100" ViewportUnits="Absolute" TileMode="None"> The game desk is based on this sample of DrawingPaint: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa970904.aspx (an image is here) XAML: <Window x:Class="Sokoban.Window1" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:local="clr-namespace:Sokoban" Title="Window1" Height="559" Width="419"> <Window.Resources> <local:FieldSizeToRectConverter x:Key="fieldSizeConverter" /> <Style x:Key="GameDesk" TargetType="{x:Type Rectangle}"> <Setter Property="local:GameDeskProperties.FieldSize" Value="50" /> <Setter Property="Fill"> <Setter.Value> <!--<DrawingBrush Viewport="0,0,100,100" ViewportUnits="Absolute" TileMode="None">--> <DrawingBrush Viewport="{TemplateBinding local:GameDeskProperties.FieldSize, Converter={StaticResource fieldSizeConverter}}" ViewportUnits="Absolute" TileMode="None"> <DrawingBrush.Drawing> <DrawingGroup> <GeometryDrawing Brush="CornflowerBlue"> <GeometryDrawing.Geometry> <RectangleGeometry Rect="0,0,100,100" /> </GeometryDrawing.Geometry> </GeometryDrawing> <GeometryDrawing Brush="Azure"> <GeometryDrawing.Geometry> <GeometryGroup> <RectangleGeometry Rect="0,0,50,50" /> <RectangleGeometry Rect="50,50,50,50" /> </GeometryGroup> </GeometryDrawing.Geometry> </GeometryDrawing> </DrawingGroup> </DrawingBrush.Drawing> </DrawingBrush> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> </Window.Resources> <StackPanel> <Rectangle Style="{StaticResource GameDesk}" Width="300" Height="150" /> </StackPanel> </Window> Converter and property definition: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Text; using System.Windows.Controls; using System.Windows; using System.Diagnostics; using System.Windows.Data; namespace Sokoban { public class GameDeskProperties : Panel { public static readonly DependencyProperty FieldSizeProperty; static GameDeskProperties() { PropertyChangedCallback fieldSizeChanged = new PropertyChangedCallback(OnFieldSizeChanged); PropertyMetadata fieldSizeMetadata = new PropertyMetadata(50, fieldSizeChanged); FieldSizeProperty = DependencyProperty.RegisterAttached("FieldSize", typeof(int), typeof(GameDeskProperties), fieldSizeMetadata); } public static int GetFieldSize(DependencyObject target) { return (int)target.GetValue(FieldSizeProperty); } public static void SetFieldSize(DependencyObject target, int value) { target.SetValue(FieldSizeProperty, value); } static void OnFieldSizeChanged(DependencyObject target, DependencyPropertyChangedEventArgs e) { Debug.WriteLine("FieldSize just changed: " + e.NewValue); } } [ValueConversion(/* sourceType */ typeof(int), /* targetType */ typeof(Rect))] public class FieldSizeToRectConverter : IValueConverter { public object Convert(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, System.Globalization.CultureInfo culture) { Debug.Assert(targetType == typeof(int)); int fieldSize = int.Parse(value.ToString()); return new Rect(0, 0, 2 * fieldSize, 2 * fieldSize); } public object ConvertBack(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, System.Globalization.CultureInfo culture) { // should not be called in our example throw new NotImplementedException(); } } }

  • IE7 not digesting JSON: "parse error" [resolved]

    - by Kenny Leu
    While trying to GET a JSON, my callback function is NOT firing. $.ajax({ type:"GET", dataType:'json', url: myLocalURL, data: myData, success: function(returned_data){alert('success');} }); The strangest part of this is that my JSON(s) validates on JSONlint this ONLY fails on IE7...it works in Safari, Chrome, and all versions of Firefox, (EDIT: and even in IE8). If I use 'error', then it reports "parseError"...even though it validates! Is there anything that I'm missing? Does IE7 not process certain characters, data structures (my data doesn't have anything non-alphanumeric, but it DOES have nested JSONs)? I have used tons of other AJAX calls that all work (even in IE7), but with the exception of THIS call. An example data return (EDIT: This is a structurally-complete example, meaning it is only missing a few second-tier fields, but follows this exact hierarchy)here is: {"question":{ "question_id":"19", "question_text":"testing", "other_crap":"none" }, "timestamp":{ "response":"answer", "response_text":"the text here" } } I am completely at a loss. Hopefully someone has some insight into what's going on...thank you! EDIT Here's a copy of the SIMPLEST case of dummy data that I'm using...it still doesn't work in IE7. { "question":{ "question_id":"20", "question_text":"testing :", "adverse_party":"none", "juris":"California", "recipients":"Carl Chan" } } EDIT 2 I am starting to doubt that it is a JSON issue...but I have NO idea what else it could be. Here are some other resources that I've found that could be the cause, but they don't seem to work either: http://firelitdesign.blogspot.com/2009/07/jquerys-getjson.html (Django uses Unicode by default, so I don't think this is causing it) Anybody have any other ideas? ANSWER I finally managed to figure it out...mostly via tedious trial-and-error. I want to thank everyone for their suggestions...as soon as I have 15 rep, I'll upvote you, I promise. :) There was basically no way that you guys could have figured it out, because the issue turned out to be a strange bug between IE7 and Django (my research didn't bring up any similar issues). We were basically using Django template language to generate our JSON...and in the midst of this particular JSON, we were using custom template tags: {% load customfilter %} { "question":{ "question_id":"{{question.id}}", "question_text":"{{question.question_text|customfilterhere}}" } } As soon as I deleted anything related to the customfilter, IE7 was able to parse the JSON perfectly! We still don't have a workaround yet, but at least we now know what's causing it. Has anyone seen any similar issues? Once again, thank you everyone for your contributions.

  • Exception seem in an eclipse GMF application when file not present in workspace

    - by rush00121
    I am developing a GMF application . In this situation , I start my workspace and load a file in the workspace . Then I close the workspace and then delete the file from the workspace . After that, I try to restart my application and restore the workspace . Of course , now since the file does not exist , there are going to be exceptions . I tried a lot to handle these exceptions but if I try to get rid of one exception , then another pops up . Does anyone know what methods do I have to override in order to handle this situation correctly . I am attaching the stacktrace that I get in this exception for a better picture . org.eclipse.core.runtime.CoreException: ERROR at org.eclipse.gmf.runtime.diagram.ui.resources.edito r.parts.DiagramDocumentEditor.createPartControl(Di agramDocumentEditor.java:1509) at com.fnfr.itest.topology.tbml.diagram.custom.part.S ingleFileTbmlDiagramEditor.createPartControl(Singl eFileTbmlDiagramEditor.java:120) at org.eclipse.ui.internal.EditorReference.createPart Helper(EditorReference.java:662) at org.eclipse.ui.internal.EditorReference.createPart (EditorReference.java:462) at org.eclipse.ui.internal.WorkbenchPartReference.get Part(WorkbenchPartReference.java:595) at org.eclipse.ui.internal.EditorAreaHelper.setVisibl eEditor(EditorAreaHelper.java:271) at org.eclipse.ui.internal.EditorManager.setVisibleEd itor(EditorManager.java:1417) at org.eclipse.ui.internal.EditorManager$5.runWithExc eption(EditorManager.java:942) at org.eclipse.ui.internal.StartupThreading$StartupRu nnable.run(StartupThreading.java:31) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.RunnableLock.run(RunnableL ock.java:35) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Synchronizer.runAsyncMessa ges(Synchronizer.java:134) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Display.runAsyncMessages(D isplay.java:3855) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Display.readAndDispatch(Di splay.java:3476) at org.eclipse.ui.application.WorkbenchAdvisor.openWi ndows(WorkbenchAdvisor.java:803) at org.eclipse.ui.internal.Workbench$28.runWithExcept ion(Workbench.java:1384) at org.eclipse.ui.internal.StartupThreading$StartupRu nnable.run(StartupThreading.java:31) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.RunnableLock.run(RunnableL ock.java:35) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Synchronizer.runAsyncMessa ges(Synchronizer.java:134) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Display.runAsyncMessages(D isplay.java:3855) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Display.readAndDispatch(Di splay.java:3476) at org.eclipse.ui.internal.Workbench.runUI(Workbench. java:2316) at org.eclipse.ui.internal.Workbench.access$4(Workben ch.java:2221) at org.eclipse.ui.internal.Workbench$5.run(Workbench. java:500) at org.eclipse.core.databinding.observable.Realm.runW ithDefault(Realm.java:332) at org.eclipse.ui.internal.Workbench.createAndRunWork bench(Workbench.java:493) at org.eclipse.ui.PlatformUI.createAndRunWorkbench(Pl atformUI.java:149) at com.fnfr.svt.rcp.Application.runWorkbench(Applicat ion.java:205) at com.fnfr.svt.rcp.Application.start(Application.jav a:190) at org.eclipse.equinox.internal.app.EclipseAppHandle. run(EclipseAppHandle.java:194) at org.eclipse.core.runtime.internal.adaptor.EclipseA ppLauncher.runApplication(EclipseAppLauncher.java: 110) at org.eclipse.core.runtime.internal.adaptor.EclipseA ppLauncher.start(EclipseAppLauncher.java:79) at org.eclipse.core.runtime.adaptor.EclipseStarter.ru n(EclipseStarter.java:368) at org.eclipse.core.runtime.adaptor.EclipseStarter.ru n(EclipseStarter.java:179) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Nativ e Method) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(Unknow n Source) at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(Un known Source) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Unknown Source) at org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.Main.invokeFramework( Main.java:559) at org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.Main.basicRun(Main.ja va:514) at org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.Main.run(Main.java:13 11) Add to rshah's Reputation

  • ASP.NET MVC jquery.UI dialog - How to validate the dialog's input on server and return error?

    - by Rick
    I am using jQuery1.4.2, ASP.NET MVC 2 and jQuery.UI-1.8. I am creating a data input dialog which works OK when all the data is valid, but I want to validate the input data on the server and return an error to the dialog describing the error and I am not quite sure how to do that and keep the dialog open. The dialog is opened when a link is clicked. The solution may be to try to bypass more of the MVC framework's default binding that handles the submit button clicks and creates the expected ProfilePermission object and calls the Controller's AddPermission POST Action method, but I was hoping there may be an easier way without have to write more jquery/javascript code to handle the button clicks and pass the data to the server. My script code looks like $("#dialog").dialog({ modal: true, position: ['center', 180], width: 500, height: 130, autoOpen: false }); $(".addPermissionDialog").click(function (event) { event.preventDefault(); $("#dialog").dialog('open'); return false; }); My View <div id="dialog" title="Add Permission"> <%: Html.ValidationSummary("") %> <% using (Html.BeginForm("AddPermission", "Profile")) { %> <%: Html.Hidden("PersonId") %> <%: Html.Hidden("ProfileId") %> <div class="editor-label"> <label for="PersonName">User Name:</label> <%: Html.TextBox("PersonName")%> <label for="PermissionType">Permission:</label> <select name="PermissionTypeId" id="PermissionTypeId" > <option value="2">Edit</option> <option value="3">View</option> </select> </div> <br /> <p> <input type="submit" name="saveButton" value="Add Permission" /> <input type="submit" id="cancelButton" name="cancelButton" value="Cancel" /> <script type="text/javascript"> document.getElementById("cancelButton").disableValidation = true; </script> </p> <% } %> </div> <br /> <p> <%: Html.ActionLink("Add Permission", "AddPermission", new { profileId = Model.First().ProfileId }, new { @class = "addPermissionDialog" })%> </p> My Controller action [AcceptVerbs("Post")] [HandleError] public ActionResult AddPermission(string cancelButton, ProfilePermission profilePermission) { ViewData["Controller"] = controllerName; ViewData["CurrentCategory"] = "AddPermission"; ViewData["ProfileId"] = profilePermission.ProfileId; PermissionTypes permission = repository.GetAccessRights(profilePermission.ProfileId); if (permission == PermissionTypes.View || permission == PermissionTypes.None) { ViewData["Message"] = "You do not have access rights (Edit or Owner permissions) to this profile"; return View("Error"); } // If cancel return to previous page if (cancelButton != null) { return RedirectToAction("ManagePermissions", new { profileId = profilePermission.ProfileId }); } if (ModelState.IsValid) { repository.SavePermission(profilePermission); return RedirectToAction("ManagePermissions", new { profileId = profilePermission.ProfileId }); } // IF YOU GET HERE THERE WAS AN ERROR return PartialView(profilePermission); // The desire is to redisplay the dialog with error message }

  • Drawing a TextBox in an extended Glass Frame (C# w/o WPF)

    - by Lazlo
    I am trying to draw a TextBox on the extended glass frame of my form. I won't describe this technique, it's well-known. Here's an example for those who haven't heard of it: http://www.danielmoth.com/Blog/Vista-Glass-In-C.aspx The thing is, it is complex to draw over this glass frame. Since black is considered to be the 0-alpha color, anything black disappears. There are apparently ways of countering this problem: drawing complex GDI+ shapes are not affected by this alpha-ness. For example, this code can be used to draw a Label on glass (note: GraphicsPath is used instead of DrawString in order to get around the horrible ClearType problem): public class GlassLabel : Control { public GlassLabel() { this.BackColor = Color.Black; } protected override void OnPaint(PaintEventArgs e) { GraphicsPath font = new GraphicsPath(); font.AddString( this.Text, this.Font.FontFamily, (int)this.Font.Style, this.Font.Size, Point.Empty, StringFormat.GenericDefault); e.Graphics.SmoothingMode = SmoothingMode.HighQuality; e.Graphics.FillPath(new SolidBrush(this.ForeColor), font); } } Similarly, such an approach can be used to create a container on the glass area. Note the use of the polygons instead of the rectangle - when using the rectangle, its black parts are considered as alpha. public class GlassPanel : Panel { public GlassPanel() { this.BackColor = Color.Black; } protected override void OnPaint(PaintEventArgs e) { Point[] area = new Point[] { new Point(0, 1), new Point(1, 0), new Point(this.Width - 2, 0), new Point(this.Width - 1, 1), new Point(this.Width -1, this.Height - 2), new Point(this.Width -2, this.Height-1), new Point(1, this.Height -1), new Point(0, this.Height - 2) }; Point[] inArea = new Point[] { new Point(1, 1), new Point(this.Width - 1, 1), new Point(this.Width - 1, this.Height - 1), new Point(this.Width - 1, this.Height - 1), new Point(1, this.Height - 1) }; e.Graphics.FillPolygon(new SolidBrush(Color.FromArgb(240, 240, 240)), inArea); e.Graphics.DrawPolygon(new Pen(Color.FromArgb(55, 0, 0, 0)), area); base.OnPaint(e); } } Now my problem is: How can I draw a TextBox? After lots of Googling, I came up with the following solutions: Subclassing the TextBox's OnPaint method. This is possible, although I could not get it to work properly. It should involve painting some magic things I don't know how to do yet. Making my own custom TextBox, perhaps on a TextBoxBase. If anyone has good, valid and working examples, and thinks this could be a good overall solution, please tell me. Using BufferedPaintSetAlpha. (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms649805.aspx). The downsides of this method may be that the corners of the textbox might look odd, but I can live with that. If anyone knows how to implement that method properly from a Graphics object, please tell me. I personally don't, but this seems the best solution so far. Thanks!

  • Parsing a JSON Response from a .Net webservice

    - by Maskau
    Just to get this out in the open I am new to JAVA, KSOAP, and JSON. So I'll try to explain this the best I can. A while ago I created a webservice to be consumed by Blackberry Apps that we're built using the plug in for Visual Studio. Now the project I am working on, I want to consume the same webservice for Android devices. For the most part I have the base code for the Android app done and working. Here's my problem: I can successfully call the webservice and get a response. I know from creating the webservice that it sends a JSON response. My problem is trying to parse through the JSON response. I have found a few examples that I have been suiting to my needs however I am hung up on one thing. In the JSON each element is preceeded by "anyType" which is forcing my code to return no results (Ultimately I am binding the data to an ArrayList) Here's what I get if I "getProperty(0).toString()... anyType{Artist=anyType{TrackName=Champagne Supernova;}; Here is the code I am using to parse the JSON Object.... SoapObject gr = (SoapObject)envelope.getResponse(); String ro = gr.getProperty(0).toString(); //Added just to see structure of response Artist_Result.add(gr.toString()); if (ro.startsWith("{")) { JSONObject JSONObj = new JSONObject(ro); Iterator<String> itr = JSONObj.keys(); while (itr.hasNext()) { String key = (String)itr.next(); String value = JSONObj.getString(key); //bundleResult.putString(key, value); Artist_Result.add(value); } } else if (ro.startsWith("[")) { JSONArr = new JSONArray(ro); for (int i = 0; i < JSONArr.length(); i++) { JSONObj = (JSONObject)JSONArr.get(i); //bundleResult.putString(String.valueOf(i), JSONObj.toString()); Artist_Result.add(JSONObj.toString()); } } WebService Code: [WebMethod] [return: System.Xml.Serialization.XmlArrayItemAttribute(typeof(Artist))] public Artist[] GetArtist(string ArtistQuery) { // All the SQL Stuff Here SqlDataReader sReader; sReader = cmd.ExecuteReader(); List<Artist> Artists = new List<Artist>(); while (sReader.Read()) { Artist result = new Artist(); result.TrackName = sReader.GetString(0); Artists.Add(result); } sReader.Close(); sqlConn.Close(); return Artists.ToArray(); } public class Artist { public string TrackName; } Sample of XML Output from a browser: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> - <ArrayOfArtist xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns="http://bb.mcrcog.com/"> - <Artist> <TrackName>Champagne Supernova</TrackName> </Artist> - <Artist> <TrackName>Don't Look Back In Anger</TrackName> </Artist> - <Artist> <TrackName>D'you Know What I Mean</TrackName> </Artist> - <Artist> <TrackName>Go Let It Out</TrackName> </Artist> I have a feeling I will need to implement a Class, and Getters/Setters on the Android side. I'm just not sure how to go about doing that. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi, I'm integrating jquery fullcalendar into my application. What do I need to do in order to render the page correctly? Thanks in advance, Eran

  • Generating Java classes out of XMLSchema.xsd using JAXB

    - by Christian Schulz
    I'm using jaxb to generate java classes out of a xml schema. The schema imports XMLSchema.xsd and its content is used as an element in the document. If I remove the import and the reference to "xsd:schema" respectively then the binding compiler generates successfully the classes. If I do not then it would produce the following errors, which are the same if I would try to generate Java classes from the XMLSchema.xsd only! • Best ASP.NET E-Commerce Framework (aspDotNetStoreFront, AbleCommerce, BVCommerce, MediaChase,...)

    - by EfficionDave
    I need a full-featured asp.net E-Commerce solution for a project. It needs to be easily extensible as I need to extend it to integrate with a custom Flash based personalization engine. It should also have a great administrative back-end that handles inventory tracking, report, labels, shipping, ... so that the client can really use it as the basis for their business. I've used quite a few different E-Commerce systems including OSCommerce, Zen Cart, Catalook, and eTailer. While I was impressed with Zen Cart and eTailer, this project is big enough that I want to try a more serious, commercial offering. I'm particularly interested in thoughts on aspdotnetstorefront, BVCommerce, AbleCommerce, and MediaChase. [UPDATE] I've done quite a bit of evaluation since I posted this question and will give some of my findings below: BVCommerce - The price point is nice, the product seems fairly well regarded, and I've heard good things about customizing/extending it, it just doesn't seem like it's going to meet my needs as an Top Tier ECommerce solution. After viewing the tutorial videos, the Admin interface just seems too basic and outdated. aspDotNetStorefront - The integration with DotNetNuke was it's biggest selling point for me but after reading peoples opinions, it's integration seems quite weak. It's sounds like there's a significant learning curve and the architecture just doesn't sound like it's as clean as it should be. AbleCommerce - After a rather thorough evaluation, I have selected AbleCommerce for at least my next project. The Admin interface is beautiful and has a nice list of features. The E-Commerce portion of the user side is very well done, highly skin-able (using Master Pages and a couple other techniques), and the checkout workflow has all the features I need while still being very clean. Source to the API can be bought for $500 but you generally won't need it. There are some 3rd party modules available but there's not currently a large market for these. The biggest glaring weakness of AbleCommerce I've found is their CMS capabilities are very limited and not at all well suited for a non-technical user to make most site content updates. But I have a good solution for that that I plan adapting into AbleCommerce. They will automatically generate a site for you to play with to your heart's content for 30 days. It is defniitely worth checking out.

  • Hook IDispatch v-table in C++

    - by monoceres
    I'm trying to modify the behavior of an IDispatch interface already present in the system. To do this my plan was to hook into the objects v-table during runtime and modify the pointers so it points to a custom hook method instead. If I can get this to work I can add new methods and properties to already existing objects. Nice. First I tried hooking into the v-table for IUnknown (from which IDispatch inherits from) and that worked fine. However trying to change entires in IDispatch doesn't work at all. Nothing happens at all, the code works just as it did without the hook. Here's the code, it's very simple so it shouldn't be any problems to understand #include <iostream> #include <windows.h> #include <Objbase.h> #pragma comment (lib,"Ole32.lib") using namespace std; HRESULT __stdcall typecount(IDispatch *self,UINT*u) { cout << "hook" << endl; *u=1; return S_OK; } int main() { CoInitialize(NULL); // Get clsid from name CLSID clsid; CLSIDFromProgID(L"shell.application",&clsid); // Create instance IDispatch *obj=NULL; CoCreateInstance(clsid,NULL,CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER,__uuidof(IDispatch),(void**)&obj); // Get vtable and offset in vtable for idispatch void* iunknown_vtable= (void*)*((unsigned int*)obj); // There are three entries in IUnknown, therefore add 12 to go to IDispatch void* idispatch_vtable = (void*)(((unsigned int)iunknown_vtable)+12); // Get pointer of first emtry in IDispatch vtable (GetTypeInfoCount) unsigned int* v1 = (unsigned int*)iunknown_vtable; // Change memory permissions so address can be overwritten DWORD old; VirtualProtect(v1,4,PAGE_EXECUTE_READWRITE,&old); // Override v-table pointer *v1 = (unsigned int) typecount; // Try calling GetTypeInfo count, should now be hooked. But isn't works as usual UINT num=0; obj->GetTypeInfoCount(&num); /* HRESULT hresult; OLECHAR FAR* szMember = (OLECHAR*)L"MinimizeAll"; DISPID dispid; DISPPARAMS dispparamsNoArgs = {NULL, NULL, 0, 0}; hresult = obj->GetIDsOfNames(IID_NULL, &szMember, 1, LOCALE_SYSTEM_DEFAULT, &dispid) ; hresult = obj->Invoke(dispid,IID_NULL,LOCALE_SYSTEM_DEFAULT,DISPATCH_METHOD,&dispparamsNoArgs, NULL, NULL, NULL); */ } Thanks in advance!

  • Progress gauge in status bar, using Cody Precord's ProgressStatusBar

    - by MCXXIII
    Hi. I am attempting to create a progress gauge in the status bar for my application, and I'm using the example in Cody Precord's wxPython 2.8 Application Development Cookbook. I've reproduced it below. For now I simply wish to show the gauge and have it pulse when the application is busy, so I assume I need to use the Start/StopBusy() methods. Problem is, none of it seems to work, and the book doesn't provide an example of how to use the class. In the __init__ of my frame I create my status bar like so: self.statbar = status.ProgressStatusBar( self ) self.SetStatusBar( self.statbar ) Then, in the function which does all the work, I have tried things like: self.GetStatusBar().SetRange( 100 ) self.GetStatusBar().SetProgress( 0 ) self.GetStatusBar().StartBusy() self.GetStatusBar().Run() # work done here self.GetStatusBar().StopBusy() And several combinations and permutations of those commands, but nothing happens, no gauge is ever shown. The work takes several seconds, so it's not because the gauge simply disappears again too quickly for me to notice. I can get the gauge to show up by removing the self.prog.Hide() line from Precord's __init__ but it still doesn't pulse and simply disappears never to return once work has finished the first time. Here's Precord's class: class ProgressStatusBar( wx.StatusBar ): '''Custom StatusBar with a built-in progress bar''' def __init__( self, parent, id_=wx.ID_ANY, style=wx.SB_FLAT, name='ProgressStatusBar' ): super( ProgressStatusBar, self ).__init__( parent, id_, style, name ) self._changed = False self.busy = False self.timer = wx.Timer( self ) self.prog = wx.Gauge( self, style=wx.GA_HORIZONTAL ) self.prog.Hide() self.SetFieldsCount( 2 ) self.SetStatusWidths( [-1, 155] ) self.Bind( wx.EVT_IDLE, lambda evt: self.__Reposition() ) self.Bind( wx.EVT_TIMER, self.OnTimer ) self.Bind( wx.EVT_SIZE, self.OnSize ) def __del__( self ): if self.timer.IsRunning(): self.timer.Stop() def __Reposition( self ): '''Repositions the gauge as necessary''' if self._changed: lfield = self.GetFieldsCount() - 1 rect = self.GetFieldRect( lfield ) prog_pos = (rect.x + 2, rect.y + 2) self.prog.SetPosition( prog_pos ) prog_size = (rect.width - 8, rect.height - 4) self.prog.SetSize( prog_size ) self._changed = False def OnSize( self, evt ): self._changed = True self.__Reposition() evt.Skip() def OnTimer( self, evt ): if not self.prog.IsShown(): self.timer.Stop() if self.busy: self.prog.Pulse() def Run( self, rate=100 ): if not self.timer.IsRunning(): self.timer.Start( rate ) def GetProgress( self ): return self.prog.GetValue() def SetProgress( self, val ): if not self.prog.IsShown(): self.ShowProgress( True ) if val == self.prog.GetRange(): self.prog.SetValue( 0 ) self.ShowProgress( False ) else: self.prog.SetValue( val ) def SetRange( self, val ): if val != self.prog.GetRange(): self.prog.SetRange( val ) def ShowProgress( self, show=True ): self.__Reposition() self.prog.Show( show ) def StartBusy( self, rate=100 ): self.busy = True self.__Reposition() self.ShowProgress( True ) if not self.timer.IsRunning(): self.timer.Start( rate ) def StopBusy( self ): self.timer.Stop() self.ShowProgress( False ) self.prog.SetValue( 0 ) self.busy = False def IsBusy( self ): return self.busy

  • C# - Alternative to System.Timers.Timer, to call a function at a specific time.

    - by Fábio Antunes
    Hello everybody. I want to call a specific function on my C# application at a specific time. At first i thought about using a Timer (System.Time.Timer), but that soon became impossible to use. Why? Simple. The Timer Class requires a Interval in milliseconds, but considering that i might want the function to be executed, lets says in a week that would mean: 7 Days = 168 hours; 168 Hours = 10,080 minutes; 10,080 Minutes = 6,048,000 seconds; 6,048,000 Seconds = 6,048,000,000 milliseconds; So the Interval would be 6,048,000,000; Now lets remember that the Interval accepted data type is int, and as we know int range goes from -2,147,483,648 to 2,147,483,647. That makes Timer useless in this case once we cannot set a Interval bigger that 2,147,483,647 milliseconds. So i need a solution where i could specify when the function should be called. Something like this: solution.ExecuteAt = "30-04-2010 15:10:00"; solution.Function = "functionName"; solution.Start(); So when the System Time would reach "30-04-2010 15:10:00" the function would be executed in the application. How can this problem be solved? Thanks just by taking the time to read my question. But if you could provide me with some help i would be most grateful. Additional Info: What these functions will do? Getting climate information and based on that info: Starting / Shutting down other Applications (most of them Console Based); Sending custom Commands to those Console Applications; Power down, Rebooting, Sleep, Hibernate the computer; And if possible schedule the BIOS to Power Up the Computer; EDIT: It would seem that the Interval accepted data type is double, however if you set a value bigger that an int to the Interval, and call Start() it throws a exception [0, Int32.MaxValue]. EDIT 2: Jørn Schou-Rode suggested using Ncron to handle the scheduling tasks, and at first look this seems a good solution, but i would like to hear about some who as worked with it.

  • How to change Jquery UI Slider handle

    - by Tom
    I want to modify the stock JQuery UI slider so that the handle has a arrow on it rather than being a square. i.e. I want to use a custom image as the handle. There are a few tutorials that do it: http://jqueryfordesigners.com/slider-gallery/ http://www.ryancoughlin.com/2008/11/04/using-the-jquery-ui-slider/ http://www.keepthewebweird.com/creating-a-nice-slider-with-jquery-ui/ But I can't get it to work. The following code results in a stationary handle image: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <link type="text/css" href="http://jqueryui.com/latest/themes/base/ui.all.css" rel="stylesheet" /> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://jqueryui.com/latest/jquery-1.3.2.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://jqueryui.com/latest/ui/ui.core.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://jqueryui.com/latest/ui/ui.slider.js"></script> <style type="text/css"> #myhandle {position: absolute;z-index: 100;height: 25px;width: 35px;top: auto;background: url(http://stackoverflow.com/content/img/so/vote-arrow-down.png) no-repeat;} </style> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $("#slider").slider({handle: '#myhandle'}); }); </script> </head> <body> <div id="slider"><div id="myhandle"></div></div> </body> </html> It is as if JQuery doesn't pick up that I want to use the myhandle id for the handle. I'm wondering: Do I need a plugin for JQuery to recognise the handle option? (it is not documented in http://docs.jquery.com/UI/Slider). Or perhaps it only worked in an old version of JQuery? Any ideas?

  • C# Problem with Settings.Reload() and Settings.Save() Settings not loading

    - by galford13x
    I have a strange issue that I can't figure out. I have a custom settings class that inherits ApplicationSettingsBase. It has a user scoped settings as shown below. /// <summary> /// The Last Active Account /// </summary> [UserScopedSettingAttribute()] public AccountKeyClass ActiveAccount { get { try { return (AccountKeyClass)this["ActiveAccount"]; } catch(Exception error){} return null; } set { this["ActiveAccount"] = value; if (!this.AccountList.Contains(value)) { //this.AccountList.Add(value); } } } /// <summary> /// Account List /// Key: UserID /// Value: AccountKeyClass /// </summary> [UserScopedSettingAttribute()] public List<AccountKeyClass> AccountList { get { try { if(this["AccountList"] != null) return (List<AccountKeyClass>)this["AccountList"]; } catch(Exception error){} return null; } set { this["AccountList"] = value; } } I have two forms, a Main form and a Settings form in which to change application settings. When I creating the SettingsForm and change AccountList Settings value, the user.config file changes as excepected. My Apply/Ok button for my SettingsForm calls Settings.Save() then Settings.Reload() then closes the form. The problem is that when .Reload() is called, the Settings.AccountList becomes null. Whats more is that the user.config file never changes, if i close the application and reopen, the user.config file is still correct, but the Settings.AccountList is never read in. The Settings.AccountList is read in if i never call the .Reload() however. Update: If I create a List and Save(); from my MainForm, then the AccountList will be read in from my user.config fine. However If I add to the AccountList using my secondary form (SettingsForm) and call Save() then the next time the application is run the settings are not read in and a null value is returned in it's place. This happens even if I do not use Reload(). I think the problem has something to do with using the Generic List<. The AccountKeyClass that is being saved is saved as Serialized XML.

  • Force SSRS 2008 to use SSRS 2005 CSV rendering

    - by Kash
    We are upgrading our report server from SSRS 2005 to SSRS 2008 R2. I have an issue with CSV export rendering for SSRS 2008 where the SUM of columns are appearing on the right side of the detail values in 2008 instead of the left side like in 2005 as shown in the below blocks. 117 and 131 are the sums of Column2 and Column3 respectively. SSRS 2005 CSV Output Column2_1,Column3_1,Column2,Column3 117,131,1,2 117,131,1,2 117,131,60,23 117,131,30,15 117,131,25,89 SSRS 2008 CSV Output Column2,Column3,Column2_1,Column3_1 1,2,117,131 1,2,117,131 60,23,117,131 30,15,117,131 25,89,117,131 I understand that the CSV renderer has gone through major changes in SSRS 2008 R2 with the support for charts and gauges and more importantly it provides 2 modes: the default Excel mode and Compliant mode. But neither mode helps fix this issue. The Compliant mode was supposed to be closest to that of 2005 but apparently it is not close enough for my case. My Question: Is there a way to force SSRS 2008 fall back a report to a backward compatibility mode so that it exports into a 2005 CSV format? Solution tried: a) Using 2005-based CRIs Based on this article on ExecutionLog2, if SSRS 2008 R2 encounters a report whose auto-upgrade is not possible (e.g. reports that were built with 2005-based CustomReportItem controls), those particular reports will be processed with the old Yukon engine in a "transparent backwards-compatibility mode". It seems like it falls back to its previous version mode (2005) and attempts to render it. So I tried using a 2005-based barcode CustomReportItem and deployed to a SSRS 2008 R2 report server, but it shows the same result as before though it suppressed the barcode. This would be because SSRS 2008 R2 finds a way to suppress part of the report output and displays the rest. It would be great to find a 2005-based CRI that makes SSRS 2008 R2 process it with its old Yukon engine. Please note that quite possibly, even if it uses the "old Yukon processing engine", it might still use the new CSV renderer hence it shows the same output. If that is true, then this option is moot. b) Using XML renderer We can use a custom XML renderer and then use XSLT to convert the xml to appropriate CSV but this would mean that we need to convert all our 200 reports. Hence this is not feasible. Please note that we do not have the option of having SSRS 2005 and SSRS 2008 R2 deployed side by side.

  • Objective-C Out of scope problem

    - by davbryn
    Hi, I'm having a few problems with some Objective-C and would appreciate some pointers. So I have a class MapFileGroup which has the following simple interface (There are other member variables but they aren't important): @interface MapFileGroup : NSObject { NSMutableArray *mapArray; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableArray *mapArray; mapArray is @synthesize'd in the .m file. It has an init method: -(MapFileGroup*) init { self = [super init]; if (self) { mapArray = [NSMutableArray arrayWithCapacity: 10]; } return self; } It also has a method for adding a custom object to the array: -(BOOL) addMapFile:(MapFile*) mapfile { if (mapfile == nil) return NO; mapArray addObject:mapfile]; return YES; } The problem I get comes when I want to use this class - obviously due to a misunderstanding of memory management on my part. In my view controller I declare as follows: (in the @interface): MapFileGroup *fullGroupOfMaps; With @property @property (nonatomic, retain) MapFileGroup *fullGroupOfMaps; Then in the .m file I have a function called loadMapData that does the following: MapFileGroup *mapContainer = [[MapFileGroup alloc] init]; // create a predicate that we can use to filter an array // for all strings ending in .png (case insensitive) NSPredicate *caseInsensitivePNGFiles = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"SELF endswith[c] '.png'"]; mapNames = [unfilteredArray filteredArrayUsingPredicate:caseInsensitivePNGFiles]; [mapNames retain]; NSEnumerator * enumerator = [mapNames objectEnumerator]; NSString * currentFileName; NSString *nameOfMap; MapFile *mapfile; while(currentFileName = [enumerator nextObject]) { nameOfMap = [currentFileName substringToIndex:[currentFileName length]-4]; //strip the extension mapfile = [[MapFile alloc] initWithName:nameOfMap]; [mapfile retain]; // add to array [fullGroupOfMaps addMapFile:mapfile]; } This seems to work ok (Though I can tell I've not got the memory management working properly, I'm still learning Objective-C); however, I have an (IBAction) that interacts with the fullGroupOfMaps later. It calls a method within fullGroupOfMaps, but if I step into the class from that line while debugging, all fullGroupOfMaps's objects are now out of scope and I get a crash. So apologies for the long question and big amount of code, but I guess my main question it: How should I handle a class with an NSMutableArray as an instance variable? What is the proper way of creating objects to be added to the class so that they don't get freed before I'm done with them? Many thanks

  • Problem using ‘useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy’ & supportedRuntime in an application

    - by Notre
    Hello, I've modified a couple of different applications' .config file like this: <startup useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy="true"> <supportedRuntime version="v4.0"/> </startup> When I did this for devenv.exe.config (VS 2005 - don't ask :) ), things work great - most of the Visual Studio used .NET 2.0 but I was able to make use of an assembly targeting .NET 4.0 framework. I tried to do the same thing for a custom .exe, which happens to be based on MS CAB (slightly modified) and has a hybrid mix of WPF and WinForms content. As soon as I modified this application's app config file, I started getting this exception, sometime during application startup: The Undo operation encountered a context that is different from what was applied in the corresponding Set operation. The possible cause is that a context was Set on the thread and not reverted(undone). System.InvalidOperationException: The Undo operation encountered a context that is different from what was applied in the corresponding Set operation. The possible cause is that a context was Set on the thread and not reverted(undone). There's a big long stack trace that doesn't show anything in my application code directly (just a bunch of MS assemblies). If I modify the application's .config file to this: <startup useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy="true"> </startup> i.e.I remove the supportedRuntime element, then the application doesn't throw this exception. But when I go to the point in my code where I try to load my .NET 4 assembly, if fails with this: System.BadImageFormatException: Could not load file or assembly '' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded. I guess this is expected. I have two questions: 1) Any idea why I'm getting the System.InvalidOperationException exception when I modify this application's configuration file to include the supportedRuntime element, adding .NET 4 support and any suggestions on what I can do about it? 2) If the answer is "no idea why/don't know what you can do about it", then is possible for my .NET 3.5 SP1 code (C#) to provide more fine grain support for conditionally adding .NET 4 runtime support for a certain assembly(ies) without converting my entire application to target .NET 4, or without using the declarative config file approach? At some point I would convert the entire application to target .NET 4, but for the short term this is daunting task and I'm hope for some short term solution/hack. Thank you very much for any advice you can give!

  • Debugging Messaging Exception

    - by rizza
    We have a batch program that incorporates JavaMail 1.2 that sends emails. In our development environment, we haven't got the chance to encounter the above mentioned exception. But in the client's environment, they had experienced this a lot of times with the following error trace: javax.mail.MessagingException: 550 Requested action not taken: NUL characters are not allowed. at com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPTransport.issueCommand (SMTPTransport.java: 879) at com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPTransport.finishData (SMTPTransport.java: 820) at com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPTransport.sendMessage (SMTPTransport.java: 322) ... I'm not sure if this is connected to my problem, http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=4697158. But trying JavaMail 1.4.2, I see that the content transfer encoding of the email is still 7bit, so I'm not sure if using JavaMail 1.4.2 could solve the problem. Please take note that I could only do testing in our development environment that hasn't been able to replicate this. With the above exception, how would i know if this is from the sender or the receiver side? What debugging steps could you suggest?
