  I have the following SQL to format a US address into each line for a mailing address but it is rather ugly.   My MySQL tables structure is like this. USER int id varchar username FRIEND_LIST int user_id int friend_id For each friend relationship I insert 2 records in FRIEND_LIST. If user 1 is friend of user 2 then the next rows are inserted into FRIEND_LIST 1,2 2,1 I want to get the friends and friends of friends of an specific user. The select should return columns a, b, c. a: user_id b: friend_id c: username (username of friend_id ) If 1 is friend of 2 and 3. 2 is friend of 3, 4 and 5 3 is friend of 5,6,7 Then the query to get 1's friends and friends of friends should return: 1 2 two 1 3 three 2 1 one 2 3 three 2 4 four 2 5 five 3 1 one 3 5 five 3 6 six 3 7 seven Can I get this rows with a single query?

  I have dates stored in an MS-Access table in the 'General Date' format. I'm trying to create a query that returns records between a specific date range (all records from March 2010) however I encounter a 'data type mismatch in critera expression' message. • CF - MenuItem selection in MainMenu

  Hello. Again i wonder how can i highlight selected item in my MainMenu form. Every time i select an item only the first item is highlighted (always the same). But when a MenuItem is clicked its highlighted untill the Menu reloads. I found "checked" property on MenuItem that would generaly work, but the first item remains highlighted. There is no other properties on menuItem such as background color or selected... Can some one please direct me to the right solution? thanx

• Bulletproof way to DROP and CREATE a database under Continuous Integration.

  I am attempting to drop and recreate a database from my CI setup. But I'm finding it difficult to automate the dropping and creation of the database, which is to be expected given the complexities of the db being in use. Sometimes the process hangs, errors out with "db is currently in use" or just takes too long. I don't care if the db is in use, I want to kill it and create it again. Does some one have a straight shot method to do this? alternatively does anyone have experience dropping all objects in the db instead of dropping the db itself? • SQL Filter Multiple Tables Data

  If it matters, I'm using Firebird 2.1 database. I have three tables, one with keywords, one with negative keywords, and the other with required keywords. I need to be able to filter the data so the output has just the keywords that meat the stipulation of not being in the negative keyword list, and IF there are any required words, then it will require the results to have those keywords in the end result. The tables are very similar, the field in the tables that I would be matching against are all called keyword. I don't know SQL very well at all. I'm guessing it would be something like SELECT keyword from keywordstable where keyword in requiredkeywordstable and where NOT in negativekeywordstable Just a side note, The required keywords table could be empty which would mean there are no required keywords. Any help would be appreciated. -Brad

  hi i have added openid login with Yahoo! and Google in my site. it is ok and works fine. when users select for example Yahoo! to login to my site, they will be logged in in their yahoo mail account too. i think it is not secure because maybe they don't notice to this issue and leave computer while their email account is availble. what do you think about this and what is your solution for your own sites? as i notice the same story is for stackoverflow.com.

Luckily, the cube creator create a member property named "Month Number Of Year" When I try to run the query, I get the following...   We are a network of Mac computers. I would like to send email addresses to colleagues with links to files on network locations. I made the following applescript: tell application "Finder" set uuu to URL of the first item of (get the selection) set the clipboard to uuu end tell which puts the URL of the currently selected file into the clipboard, which can then be pasted into the message (using the Add Link menu item), providing, for example: file://localhost/Volumes/Commerciale/Clienti/ unfortunately these links do not work. If I select Go To Folder from the menu item, I can get to the folder using an afp:// type url. Is there any way to get this via applescript like I do with url above? Thanks

  How do I create a method to return the results of a group by in LINQ to sql such as the one below: internal SomeTypeIDontKnow GetDivisionsList(string year) { var divisions = from p in db.cm_SDPs where p.acad_period == year group p by new { p.Division } into g select new { g.Key.Division }; return divisions; } I can't seem to define a correct return type. I think it is because it's an anonymous type but haven't got my head around it yet. Do I need to convert it to a list or something? The results would just be used for filling a combo box.

• C / JSON Library in popular Linux distros?

  I have a program written in C that has to input and output JSON over a local domain socket. I've found several C / JSON libraries that 'almost work' through searches. Prior to taking one of the libraries that I found .. I want to be sure that I'm not over-looking a library that is commonly found on modern Linux distros. I'd also really appreciate links to libraries that you use. Most likely, I'll just drop it in tree, unless I realize that I've over looked something widely distributed. I am tagging this as subjective because the answer that I select is the one linking to a library that works for me, that does not mean its the 'best' library. I want to take an existing array and easily convert it to a buffer that can be sent, or take a buffer and easily convert it into an allocated array. Thanks in advance!

  Hey Guys, having an issue with linq, I am basically doing the following but it is saying it is "UserProfile does not contain definition for Username" in the current context where I wrote "u.Username" but it does exist I have added UserProfile table to MyDbml.dbml and if I connect to another table it works fine.   I have a small Bidding system that I'm using for a fantasy auction draft. I'm trying to use the below query to pull up the max bids on each player. However, it's not actually giving me the max bid, it's just giving me the first one entered in to the database. • How can I join on a CSV varchar?

  I have a varchar field that contains a string like "10,11,12,13". How can I use that CSV string to join to another table with those IDs? Here's the approach I'm taking now: select * from SomeTable a WHERE (',' + @csvString + ',') LIKE '%,' + CONVERT(varchar(25), a.ID) + ',%' Where @csvString is "10,11,12,...". I intend to use this method as a join condition as well. That method works, but it's rather slow (using CAST doesn't improve the speed). I understand that having CSVs in the database like that is usually a very silly idea in most cases, but there's nothing I can do about that.

• maya "export all" window blocks my plugins script UI

  I'm writing a custom File Translator for Maya which can export only (I have only declared the writer function). Currently having a problem with the MEL script which defines the plugin's options as a GUI. Currently I have a blank Maya scene, go to "file-export all". This creates the "File Export All" dialog, I then select my plugin exporter which runs my MEL script to create the bespoke options window. This new window is created behind the "File Export All" dialog and is not selectable! Do I have to place my export plugin specific options within the export all dialog rather than placing them in a separate window? Thanks for any links, tips or pointers you can provide.

  The standard SQL aggregate function max() will return the highest value in a group; min() will return the lowest. Is there an aggregate function in Oracle to return a random value from a group? Or some technique to achieve this? E.g., given the table foo: group_id value 1 1 1 5 1 9 2 2 2 4 2 8 The SQL query select group_id, max(value), min(value), some_aggregate_random_func(value) from foo group by group_id; might produce: group_id max(value), min(value), some_aggregate_random_func(value) 1 9 1 1 2 8 2 4 with, obviously, the last column being any random value in that group.

  Hello All: I am trying to run following query in entity framework 3.5 var test = from e in customers where IsValid(e) select e; Here IsValid function takes current customer and validate against some conditions and returns false or true. But when I am trying to run the query it is giving error "LINQ Method cannot be translated into a store expression." Can any body tell me any other approach? One approach I can think of is to write all validation conditions here, but that will make the code difficult to read. Thanks Ashwani

• AJAX CascadingDropdown - Setting the selected index

  I have a CascadingDropDown on an ASP.NET page. Now, the prompt text is "Select State". (list of states). However, on a different version of this page (ie querystring), i might want to set the selected index to "California" for example. How can i do this? The web service used by the ajax control (ie GetStates) gets invoked at the same time the jquery document.ready function is triggered (ie asynchronously). So when i try and set the selected index in jquery, the items are not yet bound. Is there a way to attach a handler to the ajax dropdown so that i can set the selected index once the webservice call has completed, and the items are bound?

When I call a pdo query connection within a function and the connection is included outside the function, the connection becomes undefined. Anyone know what I am doing wrong here?   Hello! I have articles on my site, and I would like to add tags which would describe each article, but I'm having problems with design mysql table for tags. I have two ideas: 1) each article would have field "tags", and tags would be in format: "tag1,tag2,tag3" 2) create other table called tags with fields: tag_name, article_id, so when I want tags for article with ID 1, I would run SELECT ... FROM tags WHERE news_id=1; But, I would also like to know 3 similar articles by comparing tags, so if I have article which has tags "php,mysql,erlang", and 5 articles with tags: "php,mysql", "erlang,ruby", "php erlang", "mysql,erlang,javascript", I would choose 1., 3. and 4., since those 3 have most same tags with main article. • Permission error while trying to access Sql from a web method

  I created a web service which has a few web methods which inturn performs inserts/updates/select from a Sql Server and return non-primitive types. To test the web methods I tried using the Open source tool .net web service studio When I test for the web methods, I get the following error - Request for the permission of type 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlClientPermission, System.Data, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed. I searched for solutions and I tried a lot of approaches like setting up the permission levels, the trust level in config file etc. But the error still persists. Can anyone tell me what could be the reason for this error? I have tried toggling the permissions at all levels - Sql Server, web service etc. How can I fix this error?
