• TFS 2008 and Common libraries folder structure.

  TFS 2008 and Common Libraries I have created a Team Project called "Common Library" that will host code used in numerous different Team Projects throughout TFS. For sake of argument, lets say we have 2 distinct Librarys under the "Common Library" Team Projects, MailProject and LoggingProject. Other projects throughout TFS will be using the binary representation of these projects via branching and not the actual source code. What is the best way to set up the folder structure for this Team Project? Do I add the project to the "Common Library" and simply "include" the bin/release folder as part of the project? I have seen some examples of people creating a seperate "Deploy" folder. I assume this is synonamous with the bin/release folder?

• Ttstyledtextlabel does not draw properly when text property is assigned multiple times

  I have A ttstyledtextlabel in my uitableview cell. It has got some web URLs for images which are being rendered. But since images take some time to download i reload the cell after sometime to render the images if they have been downloaded. The problem I am facing is that during subsequent assignment of text if the size of the label changes, happens when images have been successfully loaded the label does not render properly but rather blanks out. But I see the proper label when is scroll and come back to the cell again. Anyone faced this issue or simply when the following line is executed multiple times, the Styled Label goes blank StyledView.text = [TTStyledText textFromXHTML:[self getStyledText] lineBreaks:YES URLs:YES];

• How to set -Xbootclasspath for a JRE with a custom launcher?

  I have a Java application which is using a certain Java Runtime Environment. The application uses it's own launcher to startup the java virtual machine. No use of the java.exe, javaw.exe, javaws.exe binaries is being made -- as the application seems to have it's own launcher which is a different executable. This custom launcher is using the rest of the JRE files, such as bin/client/jvm.dll and rt.jar package etc. Now, the problem is that I want to set a boot class path for this custom launcher. The custom launcher does not support the -Xbootclasspath command line parameter, like the default java.exe does. Is there any way for me to set the boot class path now for this java runtime environment? Thanks in advance. • App closes after facebook login in IOS 5

  I am using facebook sdk 3.1 framework for my application. The login process works successfully and returns to the app after facebook login both in simulator(iOS 6.0 and 5.0) and in iPad(iOS 6). But When the same is deployed in IPad with IOS 5, after login, it does not return back to my application and shows a blank white Screen or sometimes my application closes. I dont know what went wrong in iOS 5 and facebook sdk 3.1 framework, also i am not getting any logs to debug... • Rails - Why is my custom validation being triggered for only a build command.

  I have a sentence and correction model with a has_one and belongs_to relationship respectively. For some reason when I do def create @sentence = Sentence.find(params[:sentence_id]) @correction = @sentence.build_correction(params[:correction]) a custom validation I wrote for Correction is being called at the build_correction point. the validation is below class Correction < ActiveRecord::Base attr_accessible :text, :sentence_id, :user_id belongs_to :sentence belongs_to :user validate :correction_is_different_than_sentence def correction_is_different_than_sentence errors.add(:text, "can't be the same as the original sentence.") if (text == self.sentence.text) end the problem is for some reason on validation the correction object doesn't have the sentence id set (despite I used the build_correction method) and so it complains "you have nil object .... while executing nil.text" in the if clause in the validation above. So my question is why is the validation occuring for a build command, i thought it only triggers on a create or update. And why isnt the sentence_id getting set?

  Hello I have a Rewrite rule I am trying to implement on my local host but I cannot get it to do the action no matter how I setup the regex the files are in this naming scheme /docroot/css/stylesheet.min.css and I have them printed in the code like /docroot/css/stylesheet.min.123438348.css (the number is example it comes from a get modified function). Unfortunately My host(shared) does not support url re-writing modules or Aspnet 4.0 for now. So I came up with a workaround that attempts to be SEO friendly Instead of this : ~/Products/details.aspx?id=26 I decided to simply append the product name in the url and i.e ~/Products/details.aspx?product=26-Toshiba Qosmio Notebook So my question is how SEO friendly is such a URL and is my attempt worth anything at all?

• How does one validate html that's generated from JS running in the browser?

  The page in question has very skeletal html sent over the wire to facilitate the building of a complicated UI in javascript. I'm now encountering a strange browser compatibility issue that feels very much like I've got a markup problem somewhere on the page. I've validated the page as it comes across the wire using the W3C tool and ensured there are no issues in that html. I've also tried validating the output of running on the browser console: document.getElementsByTagName('html')[0].outerHTML I find that the output of the above introduces lots of new issues, such as removing the trailing '/' in self closing tags. This added noise is distracting, but it also makes me uneasy about validating this method. How do you validate markup that's rendered client side?

  I want to check if the text inserted in a textfield is also in my NSMutableArray. So let's say my NSMutableArray has these objects: "Hey, Hello, No, Yes". Then when a user enters the text: "Hello" i want there to appear a UIAlertView. • Architecture for analysing search result impressions/clicks to improve future searches

  We have a large database of items (10m+) stored in MySQL and intend to implement search on metadata on these items, taking advantage of something like Sphinx. The dataset will be changing slightly on a daily basis so Sphinx will be re-indexing daily. However we want the algorithm to self-learn and improve search results by analysing impression and click data so that we provide better results for our customers on that search term, and possibly other similar search terms too. I've been reading up on Hadoop and it seems like it has the potential to crunch all this data, although I'm still unsure how to approach it. Amazon has tutorials for compiling impression vs click data using MapReduce but I can't see how to get this data in a useable format. My idea is that when a search term comes in I query Sphinx to get all the matching items from the dataset, then query the analytics (compiled on an hourly basis or similar) so that we know the most popular items for that search term, then cache the final results using something like Memcached, Membase or similar. Am I along the right lines here?

• VirtualBox: How to connect to Internet via wi-fi on Mac?

  I installed VirtualBox with a Win XP VM on my Mac running OS 10.7.5. My Mac only has a wi-fi connection to the internet. On the settings for the virtual host, I set: Attached to: Bridged Adapter Name: en1: Wi-Fi (AirPort) Adapter Type: Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop (82540EM) Promiscuous Mode: Deny Mac Address: Cable Connected: true Those are the settings I see around the internet as being correct, but I still can't ping anything. On my Mac I have internet sharing via Ethernet enabled (not sure if that matters). When I start up my WinXP VM, it asks me to install a bunch of hardware which I don't have any drivers to. Do I need to install any ethernet card drivers in order for the internet to work? Thank you!!

But it also says that there's a call to UPDATE that sets profile_id to NULL. I'm not sure I understand why the INSERT puts the value into profile_id properly, but then it sets it to NULL on an UPDATE. If you need more specifics, please let me know. I'm thinking that the save functionality does many things other than INSERTs into the database, but I don't know what I need to specify so that it will properly set profile_id.

  Hi I know there are many questions on this, but I don't get it to work. I present a UITabBarController with the presentModalViewController. However when I try to get title from the navigationItem title attribute in the UINavigationController class that presents the tabcontroller, it returns nil no matter what I do. I have the NSLog in the viewDidLoad method in tabcontroller class. I also cast the UIViewController which is returned by the self.parentViewController property. Then I try to access the title through: NSLog(@"%@", castedViewController.navigationItem.title); Any suggestions?

  Hi. I want to launch my own media player application when I want to watch a video from Youtube. When I write android:scheme="http" and android:host="m.youtube.com" it is OK. But, it asks everywhere in m.youtube.com to open my app. So, it gets annoying. I tried to use pathPattern, pathPrefix and path to solve this but I didn't get ahead. All I want is clearly this: When the link is like "http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=%2F%gl=US#" the intent filter shouldn't launch my app. When the link is like "http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=%2F&gl=US#/watch?xl=xl_blazer&v=k3Cdqx1qFX8" my application should be launched. Is there anyone that can help me?

• MySQL 5 in MySQL 4 compatible mode for one database?

  In a recent project, I have to maintain some PHP code. I set up a development server and installed MySQL, Apache, PHP, ..etc. The program is terminated with an error: Unknown column _ _ _ in 'on clause' Cannot select .... Google shows that it's a change of syntax around JOINs, parentheses are needed. As you may imagine, fixing all that PHP SQL strings will be the last resort. _< Is is possible to config MySQL 5 to run at MySQL 4 compatible mode? Or even better, for only one database? Thanks! p.s. Since we are going to host the code on a new production server (MySQL 5 on a CentOS box), the chance to install MySQL 4 on the new server might be slim.

  I'm trying to build a data install script that I use to setup a new webstore. This script creates the categories, pages and static blocks and default settings for the specific shop (we use a multistore setup to host the shops). In our dev/staging setup this scripts runs great and all categories are build without any problem. But on our live system this script fails. After some debugging I found the difference is in the Flat catalog usage on the live systems. The problem with creating the category with the flat tables enabled is in getting the parent path information based on the parentId given: $parentCategory = Mage::getModel('catalog/category')->load($parentId); Without flat categories enabled this gives a correct parentCategory, but with flat categories enabled it gives an empty object. Why is this behaviour with flat categories enabled?

• Dynamic creation of a pointer function in c++

  I was working on my advanced calculus homework today and we're doing some iteration methods along the lines of newton's method to find solutions to things like x^2=2. It got me thinking that I could write a function that would take two function pointers, one to the function itself and one to the derivative and automate the process. This wouldn't be too challenging, then I started thinking could I have the user input a function and parse that input (yes I can do that). But can I then dynamically create a pointer to a one-variable function in c++. For instance if x^2+x, can I make a function double function(double x){ return x*x+x;} during run-time. Is this remotely feasible, or is it along the lines of self-modifying code?

• Do you use Phing?

  Does anyone use Phing to deploy PHP applications, and if so how do you use it? We currently have a hand-written "setup" script that we run whenever we deploy a new instance of our project. We just checkout from SVN and run it. It sets some basic configuration variables, installs or reloads the database, and generates a v-host for the site instance. I have often thought that maybe we should be using Phing. I haven't used ant much, so I don't have a real sense of what Phing is supposed to do other than script the copying of files from one place to another much as our setup script does. What are some more advanced uses that you can give examples of to help me understand why we would or would not want to integrate Phing into our process.

• How to optimize indexing of large number of DB records using Zend_Lucene and Zend_Paginator

  So I have this cron script that is deployed and ran using Cron on a host and indexes all the records in a database table - the index is later used both for the front end of the site and the backed operations as well. After the operation, the index is about 3-4 MB. The problem is it takes a lot of resources (CPU: 30+ and a good chunk of memory) and slows the machine down. My question is about how to optimize the operation described below: First there is a select query built using the Zend Framework API, this query is then passed to a Paginator factory that returns a paginator which I am using to balance the current number of items being indexed and not iterate over too much items. The script is iterating over the current items in the paginator object using a foreach loop until reaching the end and then it starts from the beginning after getting items for the next page. I am suspecting this overhead is caused by the Zend_Lucene but no idea how this could be improved.

• Multiple conditions with will_paginate

  I am using will_paginate for pagination but I can't seem to use more than one condition at a time. For example, if I want to have a sql query that ends in "Where office_id = 5", then it's pretty straight forward, I can do that. but what if I want to do "Where office_id = 5 AND primary_first = 'Mark'"? I can't do that. I have no idea how to enter multiple conditions. Can you help??   How to get a concurrent method? In my case, the library would be called from a program to get a value to each argument str --in method Get()--. When it's used Get() then it assigns a variable from type bytes.Buffer which it will have the value to return. The returned values --when it been concurrently called-- will be stored into a database or a file and it doesn't matter that its output been of FIFO way (from method). type test struct { foo uint8 bar uint8 } func NewTest(arg1 string) (*test, os.Error) {...} func (self *test) Get(str string) ([]byte, os.Error) { var format bytes.Buffer ... } I think that all code inner of method Get() should be put inner of go func() {...}(), and then to use a channel. Would there be a problem if it's called another method from Get()? Or would it also has to be concurrent?
